Weekly Jobless Claims Rise 25,000 to 471,000

Jobless Claims rise 25,000 to 471,000. Don’t let Obama and the politicians fool you, the stimulus package did little to nothing for the cost to the debt and our economy has a long way to go before it is ever perceived as better.

One would think that after over a year in office the Obama Administration could have done something to make it more favorable for companies to hire, instead they talk about raising taxes.

The number of people filing new claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week by the largest amount in three months. The big surge was a setback to hopes that layoffs were declining.

The Labor Department says that applications for unemployment benefits rose to 471,000 last week, up by 25,000 from the previous week. It was the first increase in five weeks and the biggest jump since a gain of 40,000 in February.

The forecast had been for claims to fall by around 4,000 from the previous week. The unexpectedly large rise in new claims underscored that even though the economy is growing, improvements in the labor market are coming in fits and starts.

One day after bashing Arizona law for its efforts to deal with illegal immigration, Mexican President Felipe Calderon will be addressing a joint session of Congress to push his agenda for United States  immigration reform. Is this what happens when one becomes beholden on a country like Mexico for oil? They get to dictate to US Congress their agenda for immigration reform when Mexico has one of the most intolerant immigration policies?

One day after private meetings with President Barack Obama and White House celebrations in his honor, Calderon pivots Thursday to Capitol Hill. He is addressing a joint meeting of Congress, where he is expected to push for immigration changes and emphasize the economic priorities linking the U.S. and Mexico.

Calderon’s state visit comes at a time of renewed furor over the flawed immigration system from Mexico into the United States. From border security troubles to questions about how to deal with the millions of illegal migrants living in the U.S., the immigration debate remains politically vexing, frustrating and volatile.

Obama is lobbying lawmakers to get moving on legislation that would seek to deal with the security, employment and citizenship issues all at once. But he concedes he doesn’t yet have the Republican support he would need to get such a complex deal done. Whether any progress will happen this year is unclear.

Stoking the matter is a new law approved by Arizona lawmakers and set to take effect July 29 unless derailed by legal challenges. It requires police, in the context of enforcing other laws, to question people about their immigration status if there’s reason to suspect they are in the country illegally.

Calderon calls that discriminatory, and Obama agrees the Arizona law could well be applied that way. He has ordered a Justice Department review.

“A prosperous North America that benefits both Americans and Mexicans is only feasible if we work shoulder to shoulder and if we confront these challenges decisively and courageously,” Calderon said at the White House on Wednesday, pushing for cooperation on the economy, immigration and security.

Mexico does nothing to prevent their people from coming to America illegally and a majority of Americans think Mexico does not want to prevent illegal immigration to the US. The United States has become Mexico’s social welfare state. I would ask the President of Mexico to clean up his own house first before you dare tell us what we should do.

Hmm, this sounds discriminatory doesn’t it? What is that from, Arizona’s new immigration law? No, that would be Mexico’s.

Mexicans have priority over foreigners under equality of circumstances for all classes of concessions and for all employment, positions, or commissions of the Government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable. Foreigners can serve in the military only during wartime.

Connecticut Senate Election 2010: Democrat Blumenthal Loses Ground in Polls to GOP Challengers McMahon & Simmons after Misplaced Words Vietnam Lie

The reaction begins to Richard Blumenthal lies and exaggerations about his military service in Vietnam and his so-called “misplaced words“.

What a difference a poll makes and being caught in a lie that you claimed that you served in Vietnam when you did not. Also, that you received five deferments so that you would not be sent to Vietnam. The latest Rasmussen poll shows that Blumenthal has taken a sever hit in the polls. Is this reactionary to the NY Times article that exposed Blumenthal’s lies or will this be a troubling trend for Blumenthal and Democrats?

Prior to the discovery of the Vietnam military service lie, Blumenthal was up by double digits over his Republican challengers and Connecticut was all but a sure thing for Democrats in their efforts to maintain control of the US Senate. However, CT might just be back in play.

The most recent Rasmussen poll shows that Blumenthal is leading GOP challenger Linda McMahon by only 3%, 48% to 45%. Just two weeks ago before the Vietnam militarty service record lie was exposed, Blumenthal was leading by 13%.

Following a New York Times report that he exaggerated his military record, Democratic Senate hopeful Richard Blumenthal has lost ground in match-ups against all his potential Republican challengers in Connecticut.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Connecticut finds Blumenthal with just a three-point advantage over Linda McMahon, 48% to 45%. Two weeks ago, he led the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment by 13 percentage points. The New York Times story broke late Monday; the survey was taken Tuesday evening.

Will this story have legs? It is hard to believe in the present political climate where the voters already have such a low opinion of politicians and think they lie, that the voters would accept an individual who of all things … got caught in a huge lie. He has already begun damage control; however, attacking others for your self made scandal is hardly an apology. Sir, you have impugned your own record of service by lying about it. Obviously, you did not think it could stand on its own without the “misplaced” words.

“On a few occasions I have misspoken about my service, and I regret that and I take full responsibility,” Mr. Blumenthal said at a packed news conference at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in West Hartford. “But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country.”

The problem is, these were not misplaced words … it was a concerted effort on the part of Blumenthal to create an image of himself of something he was not. How this was not caught sooner is amazing. Even more amazing is the fact that Blumenthal thought he would never be called in it. We will have to see the poll trending over the next couple of months to see how “THE LIE” has affected the Senate race in Connecticut.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon Criticizes Arizona Immigration Law from WH Press Conference as President Obama Looks on and Says Nothing

Remember when US Presidents used to defend the United States of America? Not this one.

Obama looked on as Mexican President attacks Arizona law from the White House press conference. Mexican President Felipe Calderon criticized the American law while visiting the White House. All this while Obama did nothing to defend the United States of America.

What are the odds that Mexican President Felipe Calderon has not read the law either?

No mention from the Mexican President about the murders, kidnappings, drug and human traficking on the US-Mixico border. Instead a complict US President allowed a foreigner in the Rose Garden slam the USA. Gee President Obama, no bow today?

ABC News: Mexican President Felipe Calderon took the unusual step Wednesday morning of criticizing an American law while visiting the White House, saying cooperation is needed to fix the US-Mexican immigration issue but “such laws as the Arizona law that is forcing our people to face discrimination. If we are divided, we cannot overcome these problems.” (Breitbart TV)

It has become obvious that President Barack Hussin Obama must go as President of the United States.Obama is supposed to defend the US Constitution and the people of the United States. That would be the legal ones President Obama.

Instead, at a WH presser Obama stood there and allowed a foreign President criticize an Arizona state law on illegal immigration that mirrors the federal law on immigration. Of course Obama did … because Obama might as well be the Mexican President. Calderone stated, “such laws as the Arizona law that is forcing our people to face discrimination.” Was it not Barack Hussein Obama who without even knowing what had transpited in Cambridge, Mass regarding a black Harvard professor and cops, stated that “the police acted stupidly.”

What did Obama have to say in response to Calderon’s comments. ABC was the weak, lame response.

He said a “fair reading” of the law — suggesting that he has read the legislation, unlike his Attorney General as of last week — indicates those who are at risk of being deemed possibly illegal could face “harassment” and that the judgments law enforcement would need to make to apply the law are “troublesome.”

The Justice Department is looking at the legislation, the president said, to make sure it’s consistent with “our core values” and “existing legal precedent.”

Hey Felipe, maybe you would like to discuss how Mexico deals with illegals from South and Central America in Mexico? Your laws seem a be discriminatory, eh?

House Resolution 1297, sponsored by Rep. Betsy Markey, supports “the goals and ideals of American Craft Beer Week.”
