Charlie Crist Switches on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (DADT) Gays in the Military

First Florida Governor, US FL Senate wannabe Charlie Crist switched from being a Republican to an Independent. Now Crist switches his opinion on “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy of gays in the military.

Gov. Charlie Crist’s switch on the military’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy Thursday left the no-party Senate contender caught in a crossfire of criticism from his Democratic and Republican opponents.

With Congress moving toward votes on repealing the policy that prohibits gays from serving openly in the military, Crist dropped his support for continuing the ban. As recently as Monday, Crist told reporters that the current policy, “has worked pretty well for America.”

But by Thursday, Crist said he supports the repeal.

Shocker, Crist would change sexes if he knew it would get him elected and keep power. Even his Democrat Senate opponent Meeks can see the obvious political pandering that Crist is conducting. Crist’s new campaign ad … I was against DADT, before I was for it.

But Crist’s leading Democratic opponent, U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, who has fought to repeal the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy for years, ripped the governor as “willing to say or do anything to get elected.”

“This is not about being independent,” Meek said. “This is about being whichever way the wind blows for his own personal gain.”

“There’s a Democrat in this race,” Meek said in a remark aimed at Crist. “And that Democrat is me.”

Meet Charlie Crist, the biggest political opportunist to come down the pike in quite some time. The man has no shame, no character and no core values. He is willing to say anything to get elected. To the people of Florida … isn’t this exactly what we don’t want our politicians to be any more?

Barack Obama is Engaged & in Charge of BP Oil Spill … Yet Not Sure if the MMS Director Birnbaum was Fired or Resigned

Once again we are witness with the Obama Administration that talk is cheap …

President Barack Hussein Obama and his crack staff have been on the BP Oil spill since day one, or so they say in their talking points. No amount of spin and double talk is going to be able to get Obama out of this one. No teleprompter speech will save him, the visuals of this oil spill and his obvious lack of leadership is far too powerful.

We need to look no further than yesterday’s presser by Obama, the first one in 308 days, to understand why the BP oil spill is considered his Hurricane Katrina. After his minions going out on the talk shows and telling us that they have been on this since day one and Obama yesterday telling us that he is engaged and thinks about this situation from the time he wakes up until the time he goes to sleep, we are presented with the following.

If President Obama is so engaged in the BP oil spill and it’s his every consuming thought … why didn’t he know whether MMS Director Birnbaum was fired or resigned when asked yesterday at the press conference? This is exactly the lack of leadership that has both the LEFT and the RIGHT criticizing you, and rightfully so.

After solemnly insisting that “the federal government is fully engaged and I’m fully engaged,” The One admits he’s … not quite sure what happened with the head of MMS this morning because he was busy with a bunch of other important stuff at the time. Like, for instance, meeting with the Duke basketball team. In fairness, it’s not entirely clear even now whether Birnbaum jumped or was pushed: Officially she resigned but sources tell CNN she was fired. Even so, given the growing public contempt for MMS’s embarrassingly shoddy oversight, I’m amazed he didn’t seize this as an opportunity for a “damn right I ordered the code red on Birnbaum” moment. On a day when the public’s desperately looking for authority and accountability, he’s flatly admitting that he’s out of the loop. Great work, champ. No wonder critics as far afield as Karl Rove and USA Today are whispering the dreaded K-word.

Chris Matthews took him to task, VIDEO. Matthews said, “this is more important than a Presidency … He does not seem to be taking ownership.”

The Politico writes that Obama critics don’t know the facts, really? Funny, Obama did not know whether his MMS director was fired or resigned. Wouldn’t those be the facts as well? Obama claims that he knew from the beginning of the potential enormity of the situation and this is how he dealt with the problem. Imagine if he didn’t realize the enormity how he would have conducted himself?

“Those who think that we were either slow in our responses or lacked urgency don’t know the facts. This has been our highest priority since this crisis occurred,” Obama said during a rare news conference in the White House East Room. “We understood from day one the potential enormity of this crisis and acted accordingly.”

Amid escalating complaints of buck-passing between the well’s owner, BP, and federal officials, Obama also said that he understands that, when it comes to ending the spill, the buck stops with him.

“In case you were wondering who’s responsible? I take responsibility. It is my job to make sure everything is done to shut this down,” Obama said, directly addressing criticism that he hasn’t been more personally involved.

“There shouldn’t be any confusion here: the federal government is fully engaged and I’m fully engaged,” he said.

Engaged indeed … no one on the LEFT, RIGHT or CENTER believes that.

Obama Dodges Joe Sestak Job Question at Presser … “Official Explanation Coming Shortly”

More from the Obama, most transparent government ever …

Today during his press conference President Barack Hussein Obama said that there would be an official explanation from the White House coming shortly in regards to the Joe Sestak job offer. Obama has been dodging the questions that Sestak has stated that he was offered a job from the WH in lieu of him dropping out of the Pennsylvania Senate race. The WH has stated that nothing occurred and that there was a simple explanation and that nothing improper took place.

Hmm, so simple that the WH lawyers must be drafting a “Clintonian” response to deal with this issue that some have called a potential impeachable offense.

President Obama said Thursday that the White House is preparing to issue a formal explanation regarding the allegation that it offered Rep. Joe Sestak a job to drop out of the Democratic primary race against Sen. Arlen Specter.

The president, addressing the matter in public for the first time since the Pennsylvania congressman leveled the claim in February, said the statement should answer questions about the claim and insisted “nothing improper” happened.

“There will be an official response shortly on the Sestak matter,” Obama said, when asked about the issue by Fox News at the president’s press conference. “I mean shortly — I don’t mean weeks or months. … I can assure the public that nothing improper took place.”

VIDEO from Real Clear Politics. Leave it to FOX News and Major Garrett to ask the tough question.

“Can you tell the American public, sir, what your White House did or did not offer Congressman Sestak to not enter the Senate primary and how will you convey that answer to satisfy what appears to be bipartisan calls for greater disclosure about that matter?”

Obama does not mean weeks or months, eh? Look for the “all depends on what job offer is, is” parsed, Clintonian explanation to come out on Friday at 4 pm just before the long three day Memorial Day weekend.

It would appear that Sestak may not be the only Democrat that was offered a job by the Obama WH in order to get out of a political race. Welcome to Chicago-style politics.  It was also reported that candidate Andrew Romanoff in Colorado was offered a position if he ended his plans to run for the Democratic nomination against incumbent Senator Michael Bennet.

On Sept. 27, 2009, the Denver Post reported that the Obama administration offered Senate candidate Romanoff a position if he canceled plans to run for the Democratic nomination against incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet.

The paper said the job offer, which specified particular jobs, reportedly was delivered by Jim Messina, Obama’s deputy chief of staff. One position the Post cited was a job at USAID, the foreign aid agency.

Messina contacted Romanoff soon after news leaked in August 2009 that Romanoff, former Colorado House speaker, would make a primary run against Bennet.

Romanoff turned down the offer and announced his candidacy. Obama then endorsed Bennet, who had been appointed in January 2009 to fill the seat vacated when Ken Salazar became secretary of the Interior.

Interesting, the Denver Post broke the story and has gone silent ever since. Shocker from the likes of the state run liberal media. The White House has denied both the Colorado and Pennsylvania job offer quit pro quo dropping out of the election allegations. However, how many times must the same allegation need to be made about this WH before there is an obvious patter?

In the end some one has some explaining to do. As Karl Rove stated, “Joe Sestak’s lying or he’s protecting a felon in Barack Obama’s White House.” Some one is lying … pick your poison.

One of two things is true, you can’t have two things true. One or the other is true. Either Joe Sestak is lying and he was not offered a position in the administration in return for getting out of the primary.

You know he’s a liar, in which case not worthy of public service.

Or, he’s telling the truth, in which case somebody inside the White House committed a felony. 18usc211 says that, a government official cannot promise a job in return for anything of value and it has a long list of values.

Wisconsin Senate Election 2010: Feingold (D) 46%, Johnson (R) 44%

The Wisconsin US  Senate race is still in play. Democrats should be worried. A Wisconsin Senate loss could provide the Republican party with the take over of the US Senate this November.

Who would have thought that after Republican Tommie Thompson dropped out of the race that the GOP would have a chance of still competing in Wisconsin and defeating incumbent Democrat Senator Russ Feingold?

However, in the latest Rasmussen poll, Democrat Feingold leads Republican challenger Ron Johnson by only 2%, 46% to 44%. As stated at the Weekly Standard, Feingold has not had a competitive race since 1998; however, it looks like Johnson is going to give him a run for his money. Or should we say the DNC’s money. Once again Democrats are going to have to funnel money to a state that they always considered a sure thing.

Businessman Ron Johnson, endorsed at last weekend’s state Republican Convention, is now running virtually even against incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold in Wisconsin’s race for the U.S. Senate.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Wisconsin shows Feingold with 46% support to Johnson’s 44%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) remain undecided.

George Will has a nice write up of Johnson in the Washington Post:

The theme of his campaign, the genesis of which was an invitation to address a Tea Party rally, is: “First of all, freedom.” Then? “Then you’ve got to put meat on the bones.” He gets much of his meat from the Wall Street Journal’s opinion pages. And from a Wisconsin congressman, Paul Ryan, whose “road map” for entitlement reform Johnson praises. Health care? “Mitch Daniels has the solution.” Indiana’s Republican governor has offered state employees the choice of consumer-controlled health savings accounts, and 70 percent now choose them.

“The most basic right,” Johnson says, “is the right to keep your property.” Remembering the golden age when, thanks to Ronald Reagan, the top income tax rate was 28 percent, Johnson says: “For a brief moment we were 72 percent free.”

Just how vulnerable is Russ Feingold? He was trailing in the polls when Republican Tommie Thompson dropped out of the race. Now the incumbent Democrat is only up by 2 in WI. Hard to believe.

The Wisconsin governor’s race has Republican Scott Walker leading Democrat Tom Barrett 48% to 41%. Could the vote for the governor actually help the GOP for the US Senate election as well in the 2010 midterms.
