Lance Baxter, Voice in GEICO Ads Fired for Insults Made To Tea Party

Lance Baxter, aka “D.C. Douglas,” who is the voice of the  man who informs you how much Geico can save you on car insurance has been fired for insensitive and inflammatory remarks made toward the mentally retarded to Freedomworks.

When will people ever learn, when one is the voice or face of a brand, companies do not want controversy? Just ask Tiger Woods.

Today, Douglas reports he’s been dropped from Geico’s campaign. His dramatic news release is here; he claims to have been motivated by “the recent gay and racial slurs slung by Tea Party members at Congressman Barney Frank and Representative John Lewis during the Health Care Reform Weekend,” and says he’s “open to any attorneys taking on this case pro bono.”

The harassing message can be heard below …

“I just need to know what the percentages of people who are mentally retarded are”

Here are the comments made by the former voice of GEICO.

“I just need to know what the percentages of people who are mentally retarded are,” Baxter says in a voice-mail recording posted on the site, “who work for the organization… and also what your plans are for when one of your members actually kills somebody.”

On a person note, what is up with liberals and their incessant mockery of the mentally challenged? First we had President Obama making fun of those in the Special Olympics and using them as the brunt of his joke. Then  there is Obama’s White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel using the term “fu#k—ing retarded” as a negative connotation. Hell the House Democrats even had the “R” word in the Obamacare bill … and now this.

What is up with the LEFT thinking that it is completely okay with making fun of and using a term like retarded in such a negative light? What’s the matter, is making rude comments and making fun of Southerners and those who live in trailer parks become old?

As No Sheeples Here states, all one has to do is visit his web site to see Baxter’s true colors and they don’t appear to be green.

Another Black Conservative nails the case as usual. There is no law suit here, this is a perfect case of Freedom of Speech. Idiots have the opportunity and freedom to say what they will, they then have to deal with the consequences.A company has the right to fire an individual if they do not want them as the voice of their brand. BTW, Freedom of Speech means the government cannot silence you, not a privately owned company.

Of course Douglas is playing the victim card. Sorry buddy, but that doesn’t work. This is an open and shut case of the First Amendment in motion.  Here is how it works. The First Amendment allows you to say pretty much what you want. However, the First Amendment does not guarantee that what you say will be well received. Douglas exercised his First Amendment rights by leaving the nasty-gram. Tea Partiers did not appreciate his message and exercised their First Amendment rights by contacting Geico.

Funny, I thought the exact same thing when I first heard this story; however, the folks at NRO, did the same …he should not be unemployed long, the leftist at Progressive Insurance is sure to hire this moonbat.

From the tone and lunacy of the former voice of Geico’s words, “what the percentages of people who are mentally retarded are”, … it appears that once again disparaging the mentally retarded is so easy even a moonbat cave man can do it.

As an aside, thankfully it was not the voice of the lizard that went bye bye.

Hmnnnnnnn….I bet the little green critter hopping up on the desk wouldn’t have insulted the Nation’s Tea Party.

Seems to me even some Reptiles may have more common sense than irate Liberals possess at times.

      Seems like a fair question.

Hmmm. I do agree that comparing a Tea Party member to a retarded person does an incredible disservice to the retarded person. I guess it is insensitive.

We are all relieved that this misdirected person is
not the branded voice of the Gekko. Standard
voice-over persons are easy to find and replace
and have no real following (insignificant value)
unless the personality is known for intellect and
contributions (such as Walter Cronkite perhaps).
This poor soul has nothing lasting to offer.
      Fools do as fools are.

I am a Tea Party supporter. I do not plan to kill anyone now or in the future. I do not shout insults at people, even liberals. The Tea Party movement is truly a grass roots movement which seeks to place the US Government back in the hands of the US people, where it belongs and where the founding fathers intended.

Most of us are contributing, responsible people who wish to preserve our society. We wish to preserve our economic system which has for many years been responsible for making us the most prosperous country on earth. The present Federal Government seems to have as it’s goal the complete destruction of our economic system, to be replaced by a Soviet style collective society which takes from those who are productive and hard working and distribute that wealth to those who are not. Many of us have left the Republican Party to join the Tea Party because the Republican leaders can hardly be discerned to be different from the Democratic Party leaders.
We believe in small government which does not intrude into every facet of our lives. We want the Federal Government to leave us alone to lead our lives responsibly and not depend on others having their income confiscated to support us.(The US Government does not produce one penny-Every dollar they spend comes from the US taxpayer.)We are all races, religions, and gender. We are not people who yell and misbehave. Where there have been accusations of racism they have not been backed up with proof. We love and respect the mentally challenged and would never ridicule them.

We are, in fact, every day Americans.

Jennifer – you know a lot about retards. You know the saying takes one to know one.

Get lost you liberal troll. Do you have any original thought of your own? Like most liberals, most likely not.

    10. Scared Monkeys on April 23rd, 2010 7:07 am

      Jennifer, you are an fool.

The fact that you folks on the LEFT find it completely OK to make such negative comments toward those who are mentally challenged is sick. You fools are the first to bring out the race card and the PC police, yet time after time you deem it completely okay to use the term “retard”.

Obviously you have never dealt with anyone with mental retardation. And you know what … stay away from them.

You people make me sick that you think its perfectly fine to mock and use the term as a negative.

Maybe some time your heart will be softened. Spend anytime around the Special Olympics and I bet you would be singing a different tune. Then again TROLLS usually do not have a conscience or a heart.

      #2-Seems like a fair question.

How about they put a white collar on, call themselve “Reverend” and say the cause was social justice? Seems to work for y’all when it’s reversed.

    12. Don on April 23rd, 2010 10:19 am

15 minutes of careful thought could have saved Mr. Baxter a lot of money.

    13. athena on April 23rd, 2010 1:03 pm

Geico doesn’t want to run tv ads during Glenn Beck & wanted the show boycotted and all i got to say is i now boycott Geico AND anyone else who tries to silence Glenn & teaparty people.

Geico ins is a RIPOFF to begin with but they just shot their own foot attacking us.

    14. Buster on April 23rd, 2010 1:57 pm

Geico is the Second most expensive insurance company around !!! I have no Idea what they mean by 15 min could save you hundreds ???
Geico also has the world’s fastest offshore race boat that cost somewhere between 50 to 200 Thousand dollars to tune up before the races, Not including jet fuel or ground support.

    15. athena on April 23rd, 2010 2:52 pm

Geico firing this guy who btw is only towing the LIB DEM/Geico party line in his phone tirade tells me that the boycott of G. Beck they joined in months ago must’ve backfired on them.

      heh

    16. Folderol on April 24th, 2010 1:20 pm

I’m sorry, but a lot of the Tea Party people look inbred to me. Aren’t inbred people usually mentally retarded?

    17. Nikki on April 29th, 2010 12:34 pm

Thank you Folderol! Well put. I believe calling the liberals trolls and what not, is name calling in and of itself. You have one tea party supporter-Babybear-who is claiming that you tea party supporters are kind hearted Americans who are just trying to preserve you society, not “people who yell and misbehave”. . when you scroll down a tad bit, you can see someone didn’t get that memo, bc this page is full of insults towards people trying to voice an opinion.

    18. David on June 23rd, 2010 2:43 pm

difference is, NIKKI… we know how to voice an opinion. Liberals are the scum of the earth!
