Gates & Clinton Do an About Face on Face the Nation with Obama Nuclear Limitation Response Strategy … In Event of WMD Attack, “All Bets Are Off”

Well that was fast …

President Barack Obama to his mouth pieces regarding his ill-advised revisions regarding limiting a United States nuclear response, About Face, Forward Retreat.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton went on Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer and did a retreat from Obama’s earlier revisions of nuclear limits if the United States was attacked. What a difference a Sunday talk show makes.

The Obama administration’s nuclear posture review may have removed some of the intentional ambiguity from U.S. nuclear policy, but it does not leave the country any less safe, President Obama’s top national security advisers said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

In fact, they said, it gives a clear warning to other state actors that the U.S. will not ignore any growing threats.

“This is putting everybody on notice,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer in an interview conducted Friday at the Pentagon. “We don’t want more countries to go down the path that North Korea and Iran are.”

The revised nuclear policy says that the United States will not use nuclear weapons to respond to a chemical or biological attack from a non-nuclear country. The policy, however, leaves significant contingencies, said Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

Countries which are non-signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (such as North Korea) or have been found to be non-compliant (such as Iran) are not exempt from nuclear retaliation under the Obama policy.

“We were concerned about the biological weapons,” Gates said, “and that’s why the president was very clear … if we see states developing biological weapons that we begin to think endanger us or create serious concerns, that he reserves the right to revise this policy.”

Clinton added, “If we can prove that a biological attack originated in a country that attacked us, then all bets are off.”

All bets are off, revise his the policy … where was that kind of talk when President Obama first put this nuke policy out?  It came from the response of We the People and a thorn in Obama’s side whose Face Book and speeches seem to have more power than the Bully Pulpit of the President. As AllahPundit from Hot Air calls it … the Damage Control President.

All this caused by a hockey mom, moose hunter, former governor from Alaska Sarah Palin. Think Sarah Palin does not have power? If any of you still wonder why the Liberals,  Democrats and state run media have tried to destroy Sarahcuda … you need to look no further than her comments that not only forced a response from Obama, but them made The One send his minions out on Sunday TV to restate his policy.

As Another Black Conservative states, if Palin provides one more “stem-winding” comment regarding Obama’s nuclear limiting response policy, Obama will retreat even further. After all, Democrats have always been perceived as being weak on defense and national security, this limited nuke response brings it to a whole new level.

Conservatives 4 Palin nails it … Apparently, the former governor knows more about nuclear deterrence than the community organizer after all.

Barack Obama, bested by a Hockey Mom with no nuclear experience … The Shame!

There he goes back peddling again. As usual he leaps before he thinks. He got called out and now has to change his policy on nuclear weapons or at least pretend to anyway.

Here’s a decent article on Obama’s psyche here today at the NY Times:

      http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/11/books/review/Wills-t.html

It’s a review but kind of interesting.

And, I’m going to stick up for HRC on this one. Obama is a prodigy and study of contracting his own statements- but I can never remember Sec. Clinton (before or after she was Sec. State) being soft on Terrorisim.

Again, people need to put their personal opinion of her aside. This has always been something she has taken very seriously. It’s not her fault if the clown she reports to vasciallates all over hell about this topic and the topic of Nuclear Arms. I don’t think Clinton has ever sent mixed messages about this, but it’s obvious our President has.

in a couple of days ?
sort of like his health reform, a worthless
      policy.

      New Girl

I agree with you about Hillary and her being tough on terrorism. I would take her as President any day over Obama. She certainly has the experience.

    8. brie. on April 12th, 2010 2:32 pm

I also would take Hillary over Obama, any day. You have to fear anything he touches, or says or acts upon….what a disaster!!!!

When you have an ignoramus as POTUS this is what you get. This guy has never run anything in his life. How in the world did thinking americans ever elect such an idiot?
He campaigned on lies. There is no truth in him.

#7- Michelle S. You know what though? I was reading somewhere some time ago that HRC is so DONE with BO and this whole thing. The crux of the article listed plenty of reasons HRC has had it up to here with the current Administration.

Interesting. Somehow though, I don’t exactly see her riding out into the sunset with Bill doing charity work and tirelessly advocating for funds for the Clinton Foundation, but I could be wrong.

Anyway-she has TONS more experience than Obama on ANY GIVEN TOPIC and I think she was treated like shit by both her current Boss and the MSM during her campaign for the Whitehouse. She’s tough.

    12. Michelle on April 12th, 2010 9:08 pm

      #11 I agree

I don’t think she is happy with this administration either but don’t feel she will resign. I think she knows that there will be some changes in November.

I absolutely agree she has tons more experience than Obama and she was treated horribly by her own party. She is indeed a tough lady and can handle herself.

    13. Brenda in Virginia on April 12th, 2010 10:22 pm

Michelle, she wanted to be president. Jealous too. Truthfully, Hillary has a better chance of holding her office than Obama. Certainly she’s thinking of how much better she’d handle everything.

    14. Brenda in Virginia on April 12th, 2010 10:23 pm

Oh, and I do not like Hillary’s adgenda, but she’s not stupid. Does place the foot in the mouth sometimes, but moreso I believe because she’s frustrated and it shows. Who isn’t?

    15. NewGirlBoston on April 13th, 2010 8:01 am

Brenda & Michelle….We all know Hillary’s main desire was to be the First Woman to ever hold the Office of President…….so, one thing I will forever give her respect for is making those

“million little cracks” in that ceiling. Again, love her, like her or as most do hate her—why is it fair that when a man is strong, resilient and envied—he is called “powerful”—-but when a woman has the same characteristic’—she’s the “B” Word?

Agree, don’t like or approve of all of HRC’s Agenda either but I would rather have her as a leader than the current one or alot of other politicians, either. I admire her tenacity.

    16. Brenda in Virginia on April 13th, 2010 2:27 pm

newgirl…you and I can agree she’s tenacious…but I think more dangerous than Obama because SHE is more sly and could have dealt more cleaverly with the public…and gotten this stuff through more quietly so I am sort of glad Mr. Obama-foot-in-mouth is there instead…if that makes sense :)

BTW, my brother’s family moved to Ipswich. Isn’t it near you?

    17. NewGirlBoston on April 13th, 2010 5:18 pm

#16-Brenda—Ipswich is on the North Shore near Cape Ann and Rockport, MA—really nice coastal areas…you will have to get down and take a trip of some of the best New England has to offer.

I understand what you mean about Hillary’s personal style vs. Obama’s. Still don’t believe she would have been as damaging to this Country as Obama has been only less than a year and half in. In my entire lifetime—I can’t remember more of a failure as President and I am “Generation Y”—so that includes Jimmy Carter who was atrocious. Completely inept but what would we expect from a former Peanut Farmer who now I think has gone completely insane by some of the comments out of his mouth.

    18. Brenda in Virginia on April 14th, 2010 8:13 am

NewGirl…Not sure what letter applies to my generation :) , but the year I turned 18 is the same year I voted first time (it was for Reagan).

Carter fooled alot of voters into believing he was an honorable, Christian. Surprise! Now his words and deeds show a dark side.

In a similar fashion Obama pulled the wool over many eyes with promise of a bright new day/future and his “Christian faith” (Rev. Wright the mentor??). Surprise! Future ain’t looking so bright based on what we see of his adgenda now. Just didn’t take quite as long to see Obama’s dark side as it took for Carter’s to pop out.
