GDP Growth Drops to 3.2% Falling Below Analyst Expectations in First Quarter of 2010

Bad news  for the Obama economic recovery, GDP grew by only 3.2%, below analysts expectations.

The slow-motion economic recovery has continued in the early months of 2010, according to new data that both affirm that an expansion is solidly in place and underscore that it is likely to remain sluggish.

Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of economic activity, rose at a 3.2 percent annual rate in the first three months of the year, the government said Friday. That was the third straight quarter of increase, driven by a rise in spending by American consumers and increased business investment.

President Barack Obama states after the GDP fell from 5.7% to 3.2% that we are going in the right direction. Really?

From The Gateway Pundit, the text of Obama’s comments:

“The economy that was losing jobs a year ago is creating jobs today. After the single biggest economic crisis in our lifetimes, we’re heading in the right direction. We’re moving forward. Our economy is stronger — that economic heartbeat is growing stronger. But I measure progress by a different pulse.”

A different pulse, eh? You mean you make the stuff up as you go along and claim victory when numbers are positive and spin through your teeth to the American public when they are otherwise.

As stated at Hot Air, in January, Barack Obama and Democrats insisted that the 5.7% annual growth rate in the fourth quarter of 2009 showed that their stimulus plan had set the American economy back on track. A reduction of GDP to 3.2% is hardly a number that Obama can hang his hat on to boast of an economy in full recovery.

IRS: The Tax Man/Health Insurance Man Cometh in 2014 … A Dangerous Expansion of Power

In 2014, the IRS becomes the enforcer of Obamacare. Their checking they’re list, they’re checking it twice, they’re gonna find out whether you don’t have health insurance or nice.

Starting in 2014, the agency will have another task: making sure all Americans have health insurance. Under the law, Americans who can afford health insurance but refuse to buy it will face a fine of up to $695 or 2.5% of their income, whichever is higher. More than 4 million Americans could be subject to penalties of up to $1,000 by 2016 if they fail to obtain health insurance, the Congressional Budget Office said last week.

The IRS will be the enforcer — sort of.

HEALTH CARE LAW: Some trapped in pricey state plans

While the IRS can impose liens or levies, seize property or seek jail time against people who don’t pay taxes, it’s barred from taking such actions against taxpayers who ignore the insurance mandate. In the arsenal instead: the ability to withhold refunds from taxpayers who decline to pay the penalty, IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said this month.

Still, compliance with the health reform law will be largely voluntary, says Timothy Jost, a law professor at Washington and Lee University. “By taking criminal sanctions and liens and levies off the table, the IRS’ hands are tied, to a considerable extent.”

They claim that the IRS lacks the clout to enforce mandatory health insurance. Really? When was the last time you ever said to yourself, that IRS, they lack clout. The answer most likely is, NEVER!

They claim all the IRS can do is send letters and offset your tax return. That’s all. Because I am sure every one would enjoy getting a letter from the IRS and having their yearly tax return confiscated. What happens if one is not do a refund, is their income tax offset and you are put into the negative owing the IRS? What if this occurs year after year and the $695 fine becomes $6950, and don’t forget the added interest and penalties. Do you thing the federal government is not going to come after that money?

If you do not, then I have a bridge to sell you. Better yet, I have an Obamacare health care plan to sell you that is about reform and not the government take over of health care.

More Americans Favor Arizona Anti-Illegal Bill than Oppose … Obama Takes Issue off the Agenda

If you were to listen to the state run main stream media these days one would think that America is against anti-illegal immigration laws and most notably the new anti-illegal law that was recently signed by Gov. Jan Brewer.

Of course that is the case, that is the liberal propaganda media at work once again. However, according to the most recent Gallup poll, more Americans are in favor of the new Arizona law than oppose it.

gallup_illegal_imm_042910

More than three-quarters of Americans have heard about the state of Arizona’s new immigration law, and of these, 51% say they favor it and 39% oppose it.

Once again Obama and the Democrats find themselves on the wrong side of the illegal immigration law fence. As stated in the Gallup poll summary, “Most Americans have heard about Arizona’s tough new immigration law, and they generally support it”.

Nationally, 62% of Republicans support the law (including 75% of Republicans who have heard about it). Democrats are more likely to oppose (45%) than favor (27%) the law, and a majority of Democrats familiar with the law (56%) oppose it. Independents are somewhat more likely to favor (37%) than oppose (29%) the law, with half of those who have heard about it in favor.

QANDO reminds us that just the other day Reuters had an article regarding the the energized Democrat and Hispanics in the wake of the Arizona law. We had stated that Democrats best be careful just what things they decide to get behind.  So who will the ultimate backlash be against when all is said and done?

I think we already know the answer and so does Barack Obama. There is a reason why Obama took immigration reform off the agenda and said there will be no immigration reform done in 2010 prior to the midterm elections.

The president noted that lawmakers may lack the “appetite” to take on immigration while many of them are up for re-election and while another big legislative issue — climate change — is already on their plate.

“I don’t want us to do something just for the sake of politics that doesn’t solve the problem,” Obama told reporters Wednesday night aboard Air Force One.

Lack the appetite because they are up for reelection and there are other things already on the table? Hey Hispanics, I guess you see where you rate in the grand scope of things. You mean Democrats are playing politics with the illegals issue, say it isn’t so. Be very careful of supporting a party who things that fraudulent climate change is more important. The fact of the matter is, illegal immigration reform is yet another disaster in waiting for the Democrat party.

Recent Rasmussen polls show 60% support for police stopping individuals to verify immigration status. Just an FYI to the uninformed, The AZ law is hardly Nazi-like, especially when current US federal law states that an immigrant is required to have “green card” on them at all times.

Obama looks to kick the illegals can down the road. Illegal immigration Obama reform will be another Obamacare for the 2012 elections.

Welcome to Socialist Obamaland, Obama: “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money”

He said what … Obama: “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money”

Via Hot Air, so you think that President Barack Hussein Obama is not a Marxist and a socialist, eh? So Obama thinks at some point you have made enough money. Maybe his “wholiness” the Obamamessiah would like to tell us just what that amount is.

Once again Obama made the mistake of telling us his real beliefs rather than reading his scripted and prepared speech off the teleprompter.  The Teleprompter in Chief does it again …

America, pay attention to what Obama just said, because it’s a big F’n deal.

Comments from the Mark Levin radio show

Barack Obama went off the TelePrompter in his speech to a Quincy, Illinois audience about Wall Street reform. After saying that Democrats don’t begrudge success that’s “fairly earned,” Obama then ad-libs — and reveals more about himself than he probably wanted:

We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money. But, you know, part of the American way is, you know, you can just keep on making it if you’re providing a good product or providing good service. We don’t want people to stop, ah, fulfilling the core responsibilities of the financial system to help grow our economy.

Compare that to his remarks as prepared for delivery:

Now, we’re not doing this to punish these firms or begrudge success that’s fairly earned. We don’t want to stop them from fulfilling their responsibility to help grow our economy.

Share the wealth, eh Barack? How about your own money? Does Barack Hussein Obama think that making $5,500,000.00 in a year is enough money? Why not, that is what The Chosen One made in 2009 according to his IRS tax return.  This from the individual who wants to tax to the teeth people who make $250K a year

From Protein Wisdom, the brutally honest truth about Obama and the false narrative that the MSM wants to portray Obama as, even Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly.

Arizona Illegal immigrant Law Works … Illegals Plan to Leave Because of New AZ Law

It’s the law of “intended” consequences …

As reported by the AP, ‘Illegal immigrants plan to leave over Arizona law’. Would not this be considered a victory for Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and the Arizona voters who support the new law and those nationally who support it as well?

“Nobody wants to pick us up,” Julio Loyola Diaz says in Spanish as he and dozens of other men wait under the shade of palo verde trees and lean against a low brick wall outside the east Phoenix home improvement store.

Many day laborers like Diaz say they will leave Arizona because of the law, which also makes it a state crime to be in the U.S. illegally and directs police to question people about their immigration status if there is reason to suspect they are illegal immigrants.

Red State has nailed it. A law has been passed to make it a state law for illegals to be in the US illegally, which generally would include the day laborers. So the law has caused illegals to leave Arizona because it is illegal to be there illegally and some how following the rule of law is a bad thing.

We all in some respects have some reservations about this new law; however, the United States is governed by the rule of law. If we are to look the other way on illegals, then who is going to pick and choose as to other laws that should be disregarded?

Hispanics plan to have marches on May 1st against the new Arizona law. I would be very, very careful folks how you protest. A note to Democrats, be very careful what causes you attach yourself to. For over a year Democrats and the liberal  MSM have demonized the Tea Party movement as racists and evil, violent, hate mongers. America will be watching this weekend as to how out of control these anti-illegal immigration protests get. What are the chances that these protests get more out of control than the ones we have already seen? America will be able to compare and contrast Tea Party protests vs. anti-illegal immigration and decide for them self.

The voters will be watching indeed.

The RACE CARD: NY Senator Kevin Parker Calls Republicans ‘White Supremacists’

So much for civility … NY State Senator Kevin Parker representing Brooklyn calls Republicans ‘White Supremacists’. We the people might want to take a look at this Senators history and losing control and anger management, rather than his use of the race card.

It started as an angry blow-up, and then it escalated. A state senator with a history of anger management issues says his race-based rant was part of his fight against the “evil of white supremacy.”

Brooklyn State Senator Kevin Parker is a well-documented hothead, and on Wednesday he took to the airwaves to unapologetically defend his latest shouting match.

“It’s par for the course for what we have to do in Albany – fighting the forces of evil,” Senator Parker said.

Parker shockingly identified the “enemies” he’s fighting as other senators.

“These long-term, white supremacist, you know, Republican senators,” he said.

Kevin Parker erupts again with raced-based rant, and even allies are concerned.

Hothead state Sen. Kevin Parker erupted again Tuesday, this time with a race-based rant that rattled even his supporters.

“He needs help,” said Sen. Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx), an ally who witnessed the latest angry outbursts. “He lost control of himself.”

How much more is going to be tolerated by those who use the race card for their own political gain? Parker, hardly a tolerant individual who has a past troubled history in the NT Senate. It is clowns like this who like yelling fire in a movie theater that cause continued riffs in race relations. Then again, maybe that is what he is after.

Enough is enough, sadly there is still racism in the US; however, it will never be handled when idiots like this are allowed to spout off and call others names with no repercussions. Could you imagine with a white Senator did the same thing and replaced the words “white supremacists” with the “N” word? How fast would it take for Al Sharpton to get to Albany, NY?

Charlie Crist to Leave Republican Party to Run as an Independent for Florida US Senate Seat?

Crist,  I am running as a RepublicanLIAR!!!

“I’m running as a Republican,” Crist said when asked if he might switch out of the primary due to his trailing poll numbers against Rubio.

Pressed again several times, Crist told Fox moderator Chris Wallace. “Chris, I, I’m running as a Republican. I’m running for the U.S. Senate.”

When is an independent not an independent? When they merely do so because the voters of a party that they belong to and have received campaign funding as decides that they prefer some one else. Crist is entitled to do anything he wishes; however, this is a clear sign to all voters of Florida that the Crist’s words cannot be trusted. He could not even tell the truth on national TV of which party he would run as.  We shall see what Crist does …  Decide for yourself.

Welcome to the so-called Independent man Charle Crist. There is nothing independent about Crist, just as will turncoat Arlen Specter, it is about maintaining power, it has nothing to do with the voters.

The source tells ABC News that Crist has started calling his major donors to tell them of his decision to run as an independent.

The source says that virtually all of his political staff will leave.

“I’m sure they already have their boxes packed,” said the source, who was granted anonymity to encourage candor about the still-evolving situation.

The Crist campaign is not confirming his plans to leave the GOP and is encouraging members of the media to stay tuned for a Thursday afternoon press conference the governor is planning to hold in his hometown.

If Crist decides to run as an independent it is not because he is one, it is because he is getting his butt kicked by Republican candidate Marco Rubio by nearly a 2 to 1 margin. The most recent Rasmussen poll has Rubio over Crist by 57% to 28%. Also, it would not appear that Crist has a chance in a 3 way race either, Rubio leads both Meeks and Crist in a Rasmussen poll as well.

At what point does a politician just admit the truth? The people of Florida do not like his message or his vision. Instead, a so-called Republican who has taken how much campaign money from the GOP and voters suddenly decides to potentially harm them by making it a 3 way race. It is the mark of a desperate act from a desperate candidate. Say goodbye Charlie.

CNN reports that a Crist run could be an issue for the GOP gaining the FL seat in the upcoming election. In the end, if Crist decides to run it only shows that Republican voters were correct about him all along and right to vote for Rubio. Crist’s only chance of winning is by fracturing the Republican/Independent vote in Florida in a 3 way race. All to maintain his power.

Personally I agree with QandO that if Crist changes at this point to an Independent, he is finished. His support and campaign $’s will dry up leaving him blowing in the wind.

UPDATE I: Crist Announces he will run as Independent as staffers bolt his campaign. This is what occurs when one decides to act as some thing they are not. The idea that Crist is an independent is as believable as Republican voters in Florida thought he was a better candidate that Marco Rubio. The Republican Rubio could not have been more correct when he stated, Crists change was one of “convenience, not conviction.”

At least three members of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist’s campaign staff resigned on Thursday shortly after Crist announced he is quitting the Republican Party and running for Senate as an independent.

Crist’s campaign attorney Benjamin Ginsberg, a veteran GOP legal player who advised both Bush-Cheney presidential campaigns and later Mitt Romney’s 2008 campaign, sent Crist his resignation letter moments after Thursday’s announcement.

Crist uses the same old tired line that the “political system is broken” in order to justify his clinging the rail of so-called independence to try and prolong his political career. However, just as staffers left following Crist’s speech that he was severing ties with the Republican party, so did Republicans leave and end their support for the so-called Independent Man.

In a moment of profound understatement, Crist said that “I am aware that after this speech ends, I don’t have either party helping me.”

Quite right. Immediately after Crist’s announcement, Republican Sens. Mitch McConnell (Ky.), John Cornyn (R., Texas), Jon Kyl (R., Ariz.), Lamar Alexander (R., Tenn.), and John Thune (R., S.D.) released a joint statement withdrawing support.

“We can no longer support the candidacy of Governor Charlie Crist for the U.S. Senate.  More than a year ago, Governor Crist asked for our endorsement with a commitment that he would proudly represent Floridians and our party with principled conservative leadership. Quite simply, he did not keep his word.

Isn’t this special, following Crist’s announcement that he was leaving the Republican party, donors who gave him campaign $’s because he was a Republican asked for their money back. Crist said he would refund it at a pro-rated amount. NICE! A partial refund from a partial Republican.

Yet Another Billboard … VOTED OBAMA? EMBARRASSED YET?

Some times a billboard is worth a thousand words … VOTED OBAMA, EMBARRASSED YET?

Hat Tip: Gateway Pundit

Obviously by looking at the polls these days there are many Americans with buyers remorse.  What happened to that once 62% approve, 20% disapproval rating? That change in health care went well for The One.

Just how embarrassed are Americans … we shall see this November.
