Illinois Primaries:Mark Kirk Wins Big Over Patrick Hughes for Republican Nomination for Obama’s Old Senate Seat
Barack Obama’s old Senate seat in play in 2010 … how embarrassing and damaging would that be to lose The One’s former seat?
Republican Mark Kirk, the five-term congressman, has won the Republican Senate Primary in Illinois and has won the chance to try to take President Obama’s old Senate seat away from Democrats.
Mark Kirk wins big in The Land of Lincoln as with 68% of the unofficial voted counted, Kirk had 57% of the vote as compared to the next closest candidate Patrick Hughes with 19%.
“The people of Illinois now see the arrogance of a one-party state,” Kirk said. “And this election will show we will not surrender to their dangerous cynicism of low expectations. Because we are Americans and we can do anything.”
‘Anti-establishment’ mood felt in Ill. primary battles
Mark Kirk wins GOP Illinois Senate nomination
“We all know that over the past year a quiet despair has descended on the State of Illinois.
A governor arrested, a senator seat disgraced, corruption rampant, unemployment rising and families struggling. The people of Illinois now see the arrogance of a one-party state,” Kirk said.
UPDATE I: For the Democrats, Giannoulias declares victory in Democratic Senate race
The Democrat primary was hard fought as the two candidates bloodied each other leaving winner Giannoulias some what wounded for the general Senate election.
State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias beat back a strong challenge from former City Inspector General David Hoffman for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate from Illinois — the former seat of President Obama.
However, what do we really have coming out of the Primaries … Michelle Malkin refers to it as “Lame and Lamer.” In the end all a victor by Kirk will do is add to the Republican tally election eve, whether he will actually be a Republican that the country is presently looking for is quite another question.
Can Kirk pull off the same type of miracle in Illinois as Scott Brown did in Massachusetts? Maybe, but it will not have quite the same ring to it from the moderate Republican. What will be clear though if Kirk was to win the Illinois Senate election this November is Barack Obama will have a tough time spinning the result.

PPP – Arkansas Senate 2010 Election: Blanche Lincoln (D) Trails Badly to John Boozman (R) Challenger 56% – 33%
The Democrat polling carnage continues …
This time the state is Arkansas and the Democrat is incumbent Democrat Senator Blanche Lincoln. In what can only bee looked upon as a stunning polling number, Republican challenger John Boozman leads Blanche Lincoln in a recent survey by Public Policy Polling 56% to 33%.
John Boozman
Lincoln’s approval rating has sunk to just 27%, with 62% of voters in the state disapproving of her. She’s at a middling 51% even within her own party and just 17% of independents and 9% of Republicans are happy with how she’s doing.
What is telling about the PPP polling numbers is that they follow the trend in many recent polls and election results in VA, NJ and Massachusetts where Independents are breaking sharply for the Republican candidates. Also, what is weighing the Arkansas incumbent Democrat down … Obamacare. 61% of Arkansas voters oppose the President’s plan and among those folks Lincoln’s approval rating is just 8%.

Chris Matthews Said What … Compared Republicans the Killer Khmer Rouge Regime of Cambodia
Is it any wonder why no one really watches MSNBC any more? I wonder if this is what the White House considers a news outlet?
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews actually compared Republicans to the killer Khmer Rouge regime of Cambodia. Via NewsBusters comes more ridiculous hate and venom from BSNBC. This must be the tone of bi-partisanship that Barack Obama has been asking Republicans for?
Geez, ya think Matthews could put a sock in it?
What’s going on out there in the Republican Party is kind of a frightening, almost Cambodia re-education camp going on in that party, where they’re going around to people, sort of switching their minds around saying, if you’re not far right, you’re not right enough.
As the Gateway Pundit ponders, since when has the LEFT demonized Marxists? Maybe Matthews also forgot that Republicans were not Republicans, if only for an hour.
