Obama Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood Tells Toyota Car Owners Not to Drive Them .. Oops, I Misspoke

Oops, they did it again …

More from the Gang that could not shoot straight … Obama Secretary of Transportation yesterday told Toyota car owner not to drive their cars. Will they ever learn to choose their words more carefully?

“My advice is, if anybody owns one of these vehicles, stop driving it … “

The result was that Toyota’s stock market shares fell drastically on the news.

The latest investor exodus began during LaHood’s testimony before the House Appropriations committee.

For Toyota’s stock, the hasty and somewhat confusing clarification barely stemmed the bleeding. The shares fell as much as 8% before bouncing off the session lows to close down 6% at $73.49.

“My advice is, if anybody owns one of these vehicles, stop driving it, take it to the Toyota dealer because they believe they have the fix for it,” he said.

When will this administration ever learn that their words have consequences? They are constantly having to apologize for inappropriate comments and one’s like this where they misspoke. Look on the bright side, it is not as though LaHood told Americans not to go to Toyota like Obama did Las Vegas.

Oh, but wait … LaHood would later say that he misspoke after the damage was done.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said he misspoke today when he said owners of recalled Toyota Motor Corp. vehicles should stop driving them until the company fixes a defect causing sudden acceleration.

“What I said in there was obviously a misstatement,” LaHood told reporters. “If you own one of these cars, take it to the dealer. If you are in doubt, take it to the dealer and have them fix it.”

My wife now drives her 4th Toyota in a row. During which I have not once had to worry over her auto breaking down. Very nice machines.

This administration makes a habit of saying things to increase damage to those outside their spin loop. An apology will not take it back, as there is another score for the corrupt. What is it: does this administration have a financial interest in General Motors or something? Home court advantage: noise, blinding lights, and hot air.

Best thing that ever happened to the US car makers. I helped a friend buy his Toyota Camry Solara. He bought brand new!
He does not have a brake problem yet. Just a engine problem. What a lemmon. Piece of junk. No more quality anymore.

Obviously, our current administration has its own political agenda and interests. This wasn’t a mistake considering the ‘Hood’s’ retraction. There is a vested interest by the Obama administration in all this; and it’s definitely not with non-America car companies.
