Oops, He did it Again … Barack Obama Criticizes Blowing Cash in Las Vegas, Nevada

Oops he did it again folks and guess what … Barack Obama is not that innocent.

How is President Obama supposed to expect civility when he hardly practices it himself? Barack Obama is a “TOXIC” President. This President just does not know when to hold his tongue. It would appear like he has been taking lessons from Joe “gaffe” Biden.

In a Town Hall meeting in New Hampshire, President Barack Hussein Obama once again put his foot squarely in his mouth and said the following jab at Las Vegas, Nevada.

obama_reid_scoul1

Bossom Buddies

That’s it Mr. President, tell people not to travel and vacation to Vegas, an area that is solely dependent upon tourism and corporate gatherings. Yet another brilliant plank in the Obama stimulus jobs plan. However, which was more ridiculous, attacking Las Vegas or telling Americans to tighten their belts and wallets while presenting the largest government spending bill in history? UNREAL!

Obama said that people should not “blow a bunch of cash in Vegas” during a tough recession. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman called for Obama to apologize after he made comparable comments last February.

“When times are tough, you tighten your belts,” he said at the forum.” You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage. You don’t blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.”

Why would Obama once again specifically target an individual city like Las Vegas, yet again? Obama targeted and made a similar statement about Las Vegas last February at a town hall in Elkhart, IN.

“You can’t get corporate jets. You can’t go take that trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayers’ dime,” he said.

The Presidents comments drew criticism from politicians, but was it enough? Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman called for Obama to apologize then withdrew his request. Obama is supposed to travel to Nevada this month to campaign for embattled Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. How is that supposed to happen? Have the President of the United States bad mouth and insult your state, then come and campaign for the Senate Majority leader who is losing in the polls and act like every thing is fine in paradise.

His statement Tuesday drew sharp criticism from Nevada lawmakers. “The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn’t be spending their money,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat. “Las Vegas is suffering through one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and we cannot afford for the President to bring us down any further,” added Republican Senator John Ensign. “Nevada has one of the most distressed economies in the country, and the President has done little to focus on job creation over the past year.  Discouraging people from coming to our state to make a political point adds insult to injury,” said Republican Congressman Dean Heller.

According to The Gateway Pundit via the Politico, Barack Obama apologised to Nevada Senator Harry Reid.

In a letter to Reid, the president backed away from the perceived slight. Addressing the letter “Dear Harry,” Obama wrote: “I hope you know that during my Town Hall today, I wasn’t saying anything negative about Las Vegas. I was making the simple point that families use vacation dollars, not college tuition money, to have fun. There is no place better to have fun than Vegas, one of our country’s great destinations. I have always enjoyed my visits, look forward to visiting in a few weeks, and hope folks will visit in record numbers this year.”

This defiant, refusal to listen to the people, “Bring it on” President has a serious fatal flaw. Mr. President, it is not the Republican party that is telling you “NO” it is the American people who is doing so.

EXIT QUESTION: How does this President continue to do things and make comments that are obviously wrong and inappropriate to so many others?

I am going to be tight with this months mortgage but I need some work shoes. Can I spend my money on shoes if not a boat? I already own a boat, paid cash when times were good. Now same pay and same mortgage but I just can’t seem to keep up with the bills. What changed?

when obama opens his mouth, he craps. he should swap ends. you don’t blow the taxpayers’ money on a trip to indonesia because your popularity there is fading. evidently he saw the remark from indonesia last week. it’s funny when some other country says something he doesn’t like he has to fly there on our dime to bow and suck ass.

Wow! Neither Reid, Ensign, or Heller understand Metonymy – a figure of speech where the allusion to a specific entity refers to a larger concept with which it is closely associated.

So when Obama says “You don’t blow a wad of cash in Vegas” he’s talking about gambling one’s money away, not putting Vegas down.

I know everything in this country has to be “dumbed down” but this is ridiculous.

The next time the President refers to reckless spending on risky financial ventures, he’ll have to use the word “casinos.”

Let’s just hope Foxwoods doesn’t complain about THAT!

#3 Obviously you don’t get it. The President continually says that we need to tighten our belts and don’t be wasteful yet he’s spending more money than any of us and talk about a waste of taxpayers money. This trip to Copenhagen was a waste of money. His date night in NY was a waste of money. All this money he is throwing around that has accomplished nothing is a waste of money. All these parties he throws every week at the White House is a waste of money. The man is a tool.

It is my money and I will spend it however I see fit and I don’t need the President or anyone else telling me what to do with my money. I pay my taxes and I pay my bills. He needs to stay out of my life.

The cost of living is increasing but salaries aren’t. People don’t have jobs, losing their houses and everything they own and he’s taking vacations every month and playing golf. He needs to lead by example and stop all this foolishness.

      It was an ANALOGY folks!

How stupid can this country get?

your messiah and his peeps should abide by his own words and stop partying on the taxpayers’ money.
i guess pelosi can’t afford her own alcohol for her airline parties so she charges it to the taxpayer at the tune of $101,000 and boozing it up on military aircraft at that ! not to mention hauling her family and inlaws on our military budget. so when your messiah can stop his bloated government spending, he just might set an example. he only has about three trillion dollars to account for.f—–g criminal bastard.

I agree with President Obama’s comments to “tighten our belts” and “prioritize”. He is absolutely right. His comments were not meant to offend (LV) but to give us all a reality check. Certainly his comments were not responsible for the loss of tourism in LV. He simply used LV and buying boats, etc. as examples. The media could have done a better job of doing the research to back his comments. The President is simply saying we each need to do our parts.

On another note, I am concerned that in the US our media makes fun of or criticizes our presidents more than any other country. What’s up with that! Where is the honor and respect for OUR leaders – even when we disagree?!?

    8. Left Wondering on February 3rd, 2010 12:24 pm

#5, go back and read this part again “His statement Tuesday drew sharp criticism from Nevada lawmakers.” Apparently “non-stupid” people are the ones that are the most upset.

And #3, he was not referring to “reckless spending on risky financial ventures” in Pres. Obamas own words “I was making the simple point that families use vacation dollars, not college tuition money, to have fun.” In other words discouraging people from spending their money how they see fit. So are you actually saying that his words mean nothing?

Maybe you should dumb down with the rest of us so you can see what is really going on.

    9. super dave on February 3rd, 2010 1:00 pm

#7: holder ? we are a free country to be able to criticize any politician. how do you think that the money grab healthcare bill is stalled ? the citizens and taxpayers (do not want it )! what does your president hide behind closed doors that he doesn’t want us to see ? who is he trying to placate or is he trying to pay back all the fraudulent favors that got him elected ? you as a citizen should be asking yourself instead of following blindly like the other 40% ?

#5—CON MAN BS Screen Name—-how stupid can this Country get?

Apparently—pretty stupid since a little over a year ago millions were fooled and conned into voting for Mr. Obama.

You are the freaking fool who still refuses to see through him and some of the other bigots in his Administration.

#7: in some other countries, criticizing the president would get you killed. look at Iran. is this what you want ? you should move to one of these countries .
this is what you liberal democrats want total dependency on the government. they are already taking 35% of our earnings. left up to obama, it will be 50% and your own children suffer. that is if you even work and pay taxes. in obama’s government we the taxpayers are supporting all those who choose to live off the government. even drug dealers, thugs, and those who choose to live off the government are living better that those who pay their way.

Obama’s statement is not defensable. When holding an US office represent the United States. The damage to Las Vegas and Nevada will be great, and for that none enjoy seeing the Sociolist Pres bumble — all the more times.

His financial responsibilty advisement, now that just might have good merit. But Nevada pays taxes, and they have been forced to share in Obama’s court of unions, special provissions and closed room deals. They have been forced to watch Obama bow and apologize. Obama has lied to Nevada too…they share with complaint.

Financial responsibilty advisement? While gov bails one and not the others. While Obama looks so carefully for more ways to redistribute wealth…wealth does not play in this game. Responsibilty? While government goes on — to which no voter has a representative: black ops, secret miltary bases several, ongoing building of mega sized bunkers (tax payers not welcome), massive tunneling, and our terrorist politicians belonging to secret organizations right in plain view.

Sorry, not many in government should advise real people of financial responsibilty.

I want to know why everyone is encouraged to gamble in the stock market, and that is okay, but not in Las Vegas? At least in Las Vegas, you can have some good times losing your money.

    17. brie. on February 3rd, 2010 11:33 pm

Don’t gamble…what has Obama and all his cronies being doing with our money for the last year…take a look at yourself a~~hole!!!! And keep your a~~ and our money in this country and pay attention to Homeland Security….US Intelligence says there will be a terrorists attack in the next 3 to 6 months…and your taking our money, yourself and your family to a country that doesn’t even want you there…being so thick-headed and arrogant you just never seem to get the message anywhere….!!!!

    20. super dave on February 4th, 2010 8:19 am

obama has used the taxpayer money to build himself quite a little army of panthers, his own personal brigade of little baracks.
dig deep into the obama bag of tricks and you will find a terrorist organization of his very own making. where do you think most of this stimulus money has gone ? there are still no jobs, housing market still down, millions on unemployment or have given up completely, tent cities. you will find obama in the book of Revelation.
