Milblogger Michael Yon, the Face Of Terrorism to TSA & Obama Administration … Handcuffed & Detained!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! YOU JUST CAN’T MAKE THIS STUFF UP!

How SCREWED UP up is the war on terror under President Barack Obama?  Under the Obama administration we let an individual like Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who we had been warned by his father that he was a threat, who was not put on a no-fly list, who was allowed to board a plane with no luggage, no passport and a ticket paid for in cash.

Obama in Wonderland continues … Obama’s war on terror is more than a screw up, it is a complete joke. When are we going to actually target the people who really want us killed?

Welcome to Obama’s war on terror: Milblogger/independent war correspondent extraordinaire Michael Yon handcuffed

Welcome to Barack Obama’s tough stance on terrorism …

Who is not allowed on a plain, is detained and even handcuffed as a suspected terrorist … Beret/military blogger-journalist extraordinaire, Michael Yon. That is correct, HANDCUFFED! From Big Government.com comes the following regarding the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ approach to terrorism under Barack Hussein Obama:

“Award winning war correspondent Michael Yon was detained and handcuffed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Yesterday by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel.

This is why the term WTF was invented. As Flopping Aces states, That’s our national security in action all right. Al-qaeda must be laughing them self silly. It’s the TSA GONE WILD … feeling safe America?

But apparently it wasn’t enough to merely examine his bags and find nada… nothing… of interest to a terrorist. Like they’d need a toothbrush to blow themselves up? Then the questions got personal… and Yon decided to remain silent. That didn’t sit so well with the frustrated TSA types. I mean, we’re talking handcuffs, folks!

As Michelle Malkin states, file this one under Home Land Security JOKE!

What does a person’s income have to do with National Security? You could lie and make up a number and how would TSA know? Yon is very Pro Military, maybe that is why he was flagged and detained.

    2. Buster on January 6th, 2010 2:14 pm

Get used to it obamanos is sticking up for his terrorists and condeming the US hero’s !!! Welcome to the U.S.of Kenya !!!!

    3. Michelle on January 6th, 2010 2:35 pm

Yup…The current administration is a JOKE.

    4. St Stephen on January 6th, 2010 2:45 pm

Yon is VERY pro-military…and his opinion regarding the about face of America is spot on.

TSA is looking more like Stalin’s henchmen or Hitler’s SS subjugating its citizenry than keeping our country safe from bonafide terrorists.

They seem to also be having a lot of fun watching naked people through what I feel are less than questionably safe x-ray machines. Your eyes are the most sensitive part of your body from what I’ve been told and those x-rays smack them pretty good. I wonder how much it can take before ill effects(like cancer or loss of vision) set in? We’ll see, I guess.

word from one of my customers today is that our token boy president is trying to take control of our firearms by forcing us to register them with the irs and taxing us $125 each gun.
he will disarm Americans then shit will hit the fan.

    6. akmom on January 6th, 2010 4:29 pm

I only have 2 words for this administration: EPIC FAIL!!!!! If we make it out of this four years I truly believe Obama will be shown to be the worst president in the history of the US.

    7. Dolf on January 6th, 2010 4:53 pm

a wtf moment…as in wtf does this have to do with Obama?

    8. Mary on January 6th, 2010 5:51 pm

I am from Africa and when all my American friends raved about this man I told them do not vote for him, I will tell you upfront give him the country and he will stuff it up just look at Africa………. I was told I am rascist. We still have three years …….pray that is all you can do.

    9. super dave on January 6th, 2010 5:51 pm

#7: obama is the supposed president. everything that goes on now is his responsibility. look at who runs security at the white house. any flub off the street could dress up and walk right in and cause a disaster.
Yon should have never been handcuffed. you can bet that anything obama puts together will run backwards.

    10. Dolf on January 6th, 2010 6:47 pm

      @6

he will have to do his best, GW Bush set the bar pretty high

The TSA had nothing to do with this. TSA is outbound….Inbound is armed Immigration and Customs officials upon arrival from a non-U.S. departure point.

Have any of you ever traveled outside the country before??? My guess is the author of this article has not nor has certain posters.

It’s a Border Patrol/Customs and Border Protection agents job to ask about money/job/etc…they are trained to ask questions that will elicit certain responses.

You should have no expectation of privacy when crossing the border: airport or land border….according to the Constitution. Now, 4th Ammendment protections still apply to border searches but if you refuse an ICE search you will be detained and the proper authority, in writing, will be executed.

      Are you folks shut-in’s?
No one likes to be questioned when the come back from abroad and they’ve brought back nothing illegal. But many do and Customs serves a purpose.

The Obama Derangement Syndrome is in full effect.

“I will tell you upfront give him the country and he will stuff it up just look at Africa”

What does that mean #8? What does Africa have to do with anything?

    13. yoyo muffintop on January 6th, 2010 7:28 pm

#9 has obviously have never travelled outside a 10mile radius of his double wide. If you don’t answer questions from a Customs Agent you get handcuffed. Different rules than other police agencies – implemented by George Bush, btw.

Did your customer get fries with their Big Mac #5?

Actually, according to Yon’s own telling of the event, he was detained by TSA officials after he repeatedly refused to answer their questions while they randomly searched his luggage. (Apparently Yon decided which TSA questions were appropriate, and which ones were not.) But was he ever detained as a “national security threat,” as Malkin stressed? Not even Yon makes that claim.

Also, note that in Yon’s original telling he claimed he was “arrested” at the airport, which is not accurate. As he later explained, the TSA never placed him under arrest and neither did local port authority police. Yon made the “arrested” claim because he was placed in handcuffs by airport officials, and that meant he’d been “arrested.” But that’s just not true.

So to summarize, Yon claimed he was “arrested,” which was not true. And then Malkin claimed it was because Yon was targeted as a “national security threat,” which was also not true. But hey, other than that it makes for a great story.

SM: I know that it is difficult for you LIBS to understand, really I do.

A Muslim gets on a plane with no passport, a cash purchased ticket and no luggage and nearly kills 300 people but for a faulty detonator, yet Yan gets detained and handcuffed.

If you folks cannot understand the issue here you are hopeless, lost causes and there is no reason to even have a dialog with you.

Yoyo maybe some day you can move out of your single wide into a double wide !!!

    16. Buster on January 6th, 2010 11:30 pm

SM dont forget some people still think he is GOD !!! Or was it DOG ??? I am a bit dyslectic !!!

    17. super dave on January 7th, 2010 8:19 am

YOYO obviously has never learned that it takes someone with some common sense, someone who has served their country, has military experience, has to be a legal citizen, and promote the U S constitution to act as president.
her boy toy obama has none of these qualities. he (might) be qualified to fry chicken at church’s. we’re not even sold on that idea yet.
yoyo, still in line for that reparation check? or just the usual monthly welfare and food stamps for your 8 kids ?

    18. super dave on January 7th, 2010 8:25 am

yoyo: yep, my doublewide actually has a concrete floor, brick walls, with a garage that houses my harley and my boat. you should ask me for a tour. it would be a big change from your government housing that our tax dollars are wasted on and that people like you tend to turn into a haven for drug dealers, gangs, and prostitution houses.
i feel really sorry for your kids.

#11 said;”The TSA had nothing to do with this. TSA is outbound….Inbound is armed Immigration and Customs officials upon arrival from a non-U.S. departure point.”

So either you are uniformed, TSA is out of their jusrisdiction or maybe he was switching flights. So if you were asked questions that seemed to be a form of harassment and against your constitutional rights you would just bend over and take it?

You also say; “Also, note that in Yon’s original telling he claimed he was “arrested” at the airport, which is not accurate. As he later explained, the TSA never placed him under arrest and neither did local port authority police. Yon made the “arrested” claim because he was placed in handcuffs by airport officials, and that meant he’d been “arrested.” But that’s just not true.”

What Yon is saying is that he was cuffed for no reason since they said he was not under arrest, but to you it’s okay for somebody to cuff you without formally arresting you? Once again, what would you have done? Wait, I think I know the answer.

You profess, “It’s a Border Patrol/Customs and Border Protection agents job to ask about money/job/etc…they are trained to ask questions that will elicit certain responses. ”

No, actually they ask certain questions to see if something doesn’t seem right with a situation.

Go ahead and throw a tiffy anyway, the point once again eludes you and people like CONservitive who just want to confuse the issue. The fact remains that an obvious terrorist threat gets through while one of the least likely of a threat is harrased. Why is that?

    20. Michelle on January 7th, 2010 1:32 pm

      WOW!

Yup. This guy looks like a security threat to me.

ROFLMAO Everything under Obama’s watch is bassackwards. Let the terrorists through but detain the innocent. NICE JOB

Wait! I’m sure somehow this is Bush’s fault.

    21. yoyo muffintop on January 7th, 2010 3:44 pm

#19 – From Yon’s twitter: “There is some confusion about who arrested me. TSA was not involved. The Customs people (CBP) were the actors who handcuffed me.”

So yes, the TSA was not involved and YOU are the one not informed.

Yon was entering the United States and is subject to a border search. Do you agree #19?

CBP officers were looking for contraband(that is their job), and, yes, even Michael Yon can be searched. Do you agree #19?

CBP has many responsibilities, not just looking for terrorists. Do you agree #19?

Muslims aren’t the only criminals coming to the U.S. with contraband, such as drugs. There are white criminals out there engaged in the drug trade. Do you agree #19?

Yon refused to answer any question that is not national security related. CBP has responsibilities to enforce many federal laws related to immigration, customs and drugs (see Title 8, Title 19, and Title 21 of the United States Code).

When you go through customs inspection they ask you a lot of questions not directly related to national security.

And yes, CBP can handcuff you for not answering their questions. And if you have an issue with that contact GWB – it was the republican Bush administration that created the CBP and gave them those powers.

Michael Yon does not make the rules.

    22. Scott on January 8th, 2010 10:45 am

Ah…yoyodippoop – When you are placed in handcuffs you are in essence “arrested.” You know nothing of the police profession in any facet, government, local, whatever….

In the real world, when a police officer places you in handcuffs you have to be charged with something or otherwise numbnuts “arrested.”

I love how LOW-LIFE liberals (such as the scum yoyo) play and twist words to their benefit because they can not use logic or common sense.

Would care to buy a clue?

    23. Rusty Bridges on January 8th, 2010 10:54 am

#21, The article said TSA and I didn’t mean uninformed as an insult. You could have presented the twitter info you had.

I have entered the country many times and the border agents have always been polite. They usually ask questions pertaining to my trip and not question my identity since I’m handing them a valid passport.

And yes they search my bag as well as everybody elses. I don’t think that was even an issue with M Yon, but you can tweet that if you want to prove me wrong.

By you saying that they ask questions to elicit certain responses you admit they are supposed to harrass people? And then cuff you if the person is upset for being harrased. Thats fair to you?

I think the point of the story is that all of a sudden there is a ridiculas amount of time and energy to screen people with no terroist backgrounds while an obvious threat is let on a plane. A plane that by the by would have likely crashed into an area that is one of the largests arab american communities in the US. Just a side note.

The funny part is you accuse everybody of “Obama derangement syndrome” and then you place blame on Bush for this incident. Remember in the campaign Obama was going to be different? Why hasn’t he changed any of Bush’s Policies?

And thanks for somehow bringing race into this as always.

    24. Tom on January 8th, 2010 10:39 pm

I think it’s reasonable to refuse a question about personal income(or sexual orientation, or favorite hobbies, or any number of other subjects), whether asked by the police, Customs, or any other law enforcement organization. On my way home from Jamaica(wearing an old Aloha shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes), I was pulled aside by Customs and asked a lot of questions related to my trip. Maybe I fit the profile of a drug smuggler[yes, Virginia, they DO profile]. I answered each one; none of the questions were inappropriate, rude, or out of line. But this was pre-9/11; maybe the guidelines for questioning have changed. But I would not have answered anything that I regarded “personal.”
Customs can ask any number of questions designed to “test” or shake up a suspicious person–without worrying about personal income.
