After a rather listless speech and having failed to deliver on any meaningful global warming change, Barack Obama once again did the unthinkable. Or in his case what seems to be the all to often … he bowed yet again.

Michigan Governor Election 2010: Democrat Cherry Trails Three GOP Hopefuls, Cox, Hoekstra & Bouchard

How bad are Democrats chances in 2010? When a Democrat trails in a governors race in Democrat state like Michigan, it is time to really take notice.

In the reliable Democratic strong hold and Blue state of Michigan, Democrat Lieutenant Governor John Cherry faces an uphill battle and presently trails all three Republican challengers, Congressman Peter Hoekstra,  Attorney General Mike Cox and  Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Michigan voters finds Cherry, the top Democrat in the race, trailing two of his potential GOP rivals by double digits and a third by five points.

Congressman Peter Hoekstra is the strongest Republican hopeful at this juncture, beating Cherry by 14 points – 46% to 32%. Six percent (6%) prefer another candidate, and 16% are undecided.

In a match-up with Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Cherry is the loser 42% to 32%. Again, six percent (6%) like someone else in the race. Undecideds rise to 20%.

The race is slightly closer when the lieutenant governor is pitted against state Attorney General Mike Cox. In that match-up, Cox wins 39% to 34%. Nine percent (9%) favor some other candidate, and 17% are not sure whom they’ll vote for.

Could the Republican trend of picking up governorships continue like in New Jersey and Virginia in 2009? The 2010 midterm elections are going to get real ugly for Democrats. Normally some seats are lost by the Presidential incumbent party; however, this is setting up to be unprecedented.

Dutch Officials Say 14 Year Old Sailor Laura Dekker Missing Since 12/18/09 (UPDATE: Found in Caribbean)

According to Dutch police, 14 year old Dutch teenager sailor Laura Dekker, who made headlines when she went to court to fight for the right to sail solo around the world, has been missing since Friday, December 18, 2009.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands —  Dutch police say teenage sailor Laura Dekker, who made headlines when she went to court to fight for the right to sail solo around the world, has been missing since Friday.

Utrecht police spokesman Bernhard Jens says the 14-year-old’s boat is still moored at its usual berth and she appears to have left her father’s home on her own. Police have alerted neighboring countries to monitor airports.

Jens told The Associated Press on Sunday, “We do not believe this is a crime.”

However, he says authorities are concerned for Dekker’s health.

Previously, a Utrecht District Court refused to let Dekker set sail stating that she lacked the experience and placed her under the supervision of child care authorities.

Dekker’s boat, Guppy, is still moored at its usual berth and the teenager appears to have left her father’s home on her own.

UPDATE I: 14 Year Old Laura Dekker Found in Caribbean

Laura Dekker was discovered on St. Maarten in the Dutch Antilles on Sunday evening, days after days after she ran away from home leaving her boat behind.

St. Maarten police spokesman Ricardo Henson confirmed that Dekker was on the island, and said efforts are under way to get her back to the Netherlands.

Barack Obama Continues Will Negative Double Digit Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

It has been 31 polling days in a row that Barack Obama has had a double digit negative Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll. As of Saturday, December 19, 2009 Obama’s Daily Presidential Tracking Poll was -14.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 26% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14 (see trends).

Just 34% believe that passing the health care legislation currently before Congress is better than passing nothing. Fifty-seven percent (57%) take the opposite view.

With Obama’s recent disastrous failure trip to Copenhagen it remains to be seen whether this President has the nerve to resurrect the already unpopular Cap and Trade legislation in the midst of a terrible economy. Also, let is see what Obama’s job approval numbers do as Democrats force the unpopular Obamcare through the House and Senate. 57% of Americans have stated they passing no health care through Congress is better than the present plan. But instead what do Democrats do … buy off votes to force Obamacare down the throats of Americans. If Barack Obama tries to put forth amnesty for illegals, his poll numbers might just see the 30′s.

Ben “The Price Is Right” Nelson … Special Lifetime Medicaid Break (Bribe) from Harry Reid for Nelson’s Vote

Since Harry Reid wants to buy off votes, why are not the rest of the 59 Senators that stated they would back the bill not saying … SHOW ME THE MONEY?

With so much on the line and so much that could be affected, this was terrible form by Democrats. I guess we now know what Obama meant by all things are negotiable.

A Senator at this point would be derelict in their duty to their state to not demand and extort money from Reid the same way Ben Nelson did.

Senator Ben Nelson had the audacity to have a press conference and state that he was now on board with Obamacare because he believed that in his heart of hearts that this handles the the issue of banning the funding of abortion by federal money. LIAR!!!

Ben Nelson was bought and paid for by Harry Reid in that the state of Nebraska will forever be given a special Medicaid break that get this, will last forever. Yes that is correct, until the end of time. Are you kidding?

As stated at the Gateway Pundit, “most states will struggle with the rising costs of Medicaid under the democrat’s plan, Nebraska will be the lone exception… forever.”

The deal is for Ben Nelson, forever and forever, Amen.  Forever and ever and only for Nebraska! Nebraska will never have to pick up an share of the Medicaid amount due because Ben Nelson sold his soul.

As stated on Fox, this is going to outrage an awful lot of people. The response, it already has. How can states that may already be in fiscal trouble be responsible to pay for another states Medicaid obligation. FOREVER!!!

Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Disgust to the Democrat Take Over of Healthcare & The Buying of Ben Nelson

“This is an absolute outrage being perpetrated on the American people.”

It is a grim day for America when a political party sunk to such depths to thumb their nose at the American people and pass a partisan bill at any cost, even if it meant selling one’s soul.

Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell this morning on Fox News showed his disgust and outrage to the tactics of the Democrat party in the ramming through of Obamacare against the will of the people and the buying off of Democrat Senator Ben Nelson for his 60th vote.

If this was a good bill they would not be jamming through in the middle of the night on the last weekend before Christmas.

The Democrats have tried to bob and weave and hide from the American people who have made it abundantly clear they do not support what they know about this bill

All Americans should watch this video and take a real good look what was done to them by a partisan Senate and White House. How on earth in the course of a terrible economy can we deal with higher taxes on individuals and

The American people are overwhelmingly opposed to this bill. This is the reason why Democrats are pushing this through while Americans are preoccupied with Christmas. 56% of Americans and 67% of Nebraskans oppose Obamacare as opposed to 40% of Americans and 26% of Nebraskans are in favor. Is it any wonder why Democrats want no one to know what is in this bill that was made in Harry Reid’s office behind closed doors?

This bill is a legislative train wreck of historic proportions. But they are so eager to claim a victory they’ll simply do anything to jam it through in the next few days.

Nebraska and Vermont got a sweet heart deals in order to pay of Senators Ben Nelson (NE-D) and Socialist Bernie Sanders (VT-D) for their votes. How is it the responsibility of other states tax payers to pay off the bribes and sweat heart deal that was given to Nebraska and Vermont? Why should tax payers in all other states pay more so that Vermont and Nebraska can get a special deal?

The history that is being made here is the ignoring of the American people. The history is that is being made that was sold as helping a problem, actually makes the health care system worse.

Some one needs to stop this and voting the Democrats out of office in 2010 may be too late.

Nebraska Democrat Senator Bought and Paid For … Will Support Obamacare

Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson Democrat Senator in a word … COWARD! In another word, YOU ARE HISTORY.

How appropriate that there be a blizzard in DC, because America just got a SNOW JOB from Democrats! From hold out to sell out in 24 hours.

According to the WAPO, the lone remaining hold out on Obamacare, Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson, suddenly has had an Epiphany and will support a health care bill that will bankrupt America, bankrupt the states and increase the cost of premiums to all insureds as well as reduce care and take billions of dollars away from medicare and seniors.

Democratic leaders spent days trying to hammer out a deal with Nelson, and worked late Friday night with Nelson on abortion coverage language that had proved the major stumbling block. But Nelson also secured other favors for his home state.

Asked if he was prepared to support the bill, Nelson said, “Yeah.”

So what were you offered Senator Nelson? Or should we say bribed? Did Nelson get a Mary Landrieu type political payoff?

How does a Senator where 67% of his state is against Obamacare vote for a piece of legislation that is so bad that the LEFT and RIGHT are actually in agreement to KILL THE BILL?

It is unbelievable that will all polls and the American people against Obamacare, these arrogant, power crazed liberals will pass it any how.

Remember this when election time rolls around … a vote for any Democrat is a vote for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. These people were more concerned with Obama’s image that he pass anything than they were actually representing the We the People.

I am sorry to say because politicians have no more convictions or principles and will not represent their constituents in the face of threats from their party … the only good Democrat is one voted out of office.

Who are Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama representing? It is certainly not “WE THE PEOPLE?.

UPDATE I: Sneaky Saturday as Ben Nelson Caves

What statesmen we can lay claim to these days in Washington, DC. Nebraska Senator has caved under the cloak of darkness on a Saturday morning in the middle of a blizzard during the final weekend before Christmas. I am sure the Corn Husker state is proud to have such a man of convictions representing them. However, Nelson, the spineless gutless one says he “reserves the right” to change his mind”. Yeah sure.

UPDATE II: So what was the Mary Landrieu type political payoff? From Hot Air … Every man has his price and we have just found Ben Nelson’s. It would also appear that Nelson caved on abortion as well. What a man of character and conviction.

Under the current merged legislation (the version unveiled on November 18th), the federal government fully finances care for the expanded population for two years and increases its matching funds (known as FMAP) thereafter. Page 98 of the managers amendment specifically identifies Nebraska for higher federal matching funds, fully funding its expansion for an additional year:

‘‘(3) Notwithstanding subsection (b) and paragraphs (1) and (2) of this subsection, the Federal medical assistance percentage otherwise determined under subsection (b) with respect to all or any portion of a fiscal year that begins on or after January 1, 2017, for the State of Nebraska, with respect to amounts expended for newly eligible individuals described in subclause (VIII) of section 1902(a)(10)(A)(i), shall be determined as provided for under subsection (y)(1) (A) (notwithstanding the period provided for in such paragraph)

Subsection (y)(1)(A) refers to page 399 of the original merged Senate legislation which fully funds state Mediciad expansions for the first two years. The manager’s amendment also provides 2.2% increase in FMAP to help states finance their existing Medicaid programs.

How Can Democrat Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson Vote for Obamacare when 67% of Nebraskans Oppose It?

For Ben Nelson a vote for Obamacare is a one way ticket out of office and home to Nebraska in 2012.

How could Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson even consider voting for Obamacare when 67% of his constituents oppose the government run take over and intrusion into Nebraskans lives? Not only do 67% of Corn Huskers oppose Obamacare, but also 61% said that they were less likely to vote for Nelson for reelection. Senators have said in the past that they did not want to be on the wrong side of history. When every poll shows overwhelming opposition to Obamacare … the Senators are on the wrong  side of history as “WE THE PEOPLE” oppose the legislation?

The poll, taken over the past two days while the Senate debates health care reform legislation comes as a huge blow to proponents of President Obama’s plan. And most interestingly, the poll spells trouble for Senator Ben Nelson, a key swing vote on the health care plan.

AFF spokesman Nick Ryan said, “The people of Nebraska are clear in their disdain for this bill. Senator Nelson needs to listen to his constituents and vote against this detrimental bill.”

Ryan continued, “The polling also indicates that the people of Nebraska won’t let Sen. Nelson have it both ways by voting for cloture and against the bill overall. They clearly want Sen. Nelson to do what’s right – vote no on cloture – and vote no on any bill.”

The United States has a Representative Democracy as it’s form of government; however, when are politicians going to start representing the democracy that elected them? How could any politician in good conscience vote for something that almost 7 in 10 of their constituents is against? There is no way you could ever look these people in the face and say you represent them. If Nelson votes yea, he might as well resign from office the next day.
