Chris “Tingle Up My Leg” Matthews Says Obama to “Too Much Chamberlain, Not Enough Churchill” on Afghanistan

A shocker from The Chris Matthews Show as the Obama sycophants try and justify Barack Obama’s dithering on troop levels in Afghanistan.

Chris Matthews says President Barack Obama needs to act a little less like Neville Chamberlain and more like Winston Churchill. Did pigs just fly by? The Gateway Pundit reminds us that it has been  93 days since Obama’s hand picked top general asked the President for reinforcements in Afghanistan to win the war.

Interesting, this coming on the foot heels of Matthews saying that Obama was making “Carteresque” mistakes. Hmm …

Transcript from NewsBusters:

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Will this long deliberation, Anne Kornblut, you’ve got the tough question here to start with. Whip around here. It took three months to make this decision. Will he look smart and deliberate for having taken all this time, or will the dithering shot still being cast in by people like former Vice President Dick Cheney, is that still going to hurt?

ANNE KORNBLUT, WASHINGTON POST: The gamble they’re making is that he’ll look smart and he’ll look like the anti-Bush for having thought about it for so long.

JOE KLEIN, TIME: The anti-Bush part is really important because Bush really needed to do a strategy re-evaluation about Iraq six months in there and he never did.

MATTHEWS: Andrea, will it look good if he takes all this time?

ANDREA KRAMER, NBC: I agree. I think it will look good if he takes his time, if taking his time he comes out with something that adds up. If he doesn’t then people will say you took so long and what did you deliver?

DAVID IGNATIUS, WASHINGTON POST: The long period of analysis, very deliberative, robs this of passion. This is, he is going to be a wartime president now, and he has to sell the country on the idea that our young men and women are going to go there, fight and get killed and I think this is not…

MATTHEWS: So, too much Chamberlain and not enough Churchill.

IGNATIUS: Well, too much, too much college professor.

Barack Obama will address the nation tonight from West Point regarding his Afghan troop level decision where is looks like he will send 34,000 more troops.  Much to the hysterical disappointment to Lefties like Michael Moore who penned a letter to Obama.

Dear President Obama,

Do you really want to be the new “war president”? If you go to West Point tomorrow night (Tuesday, 8pm) and announce that you are increasing, rather than withdrawing, the troops in Afghanistan, you are the new war president. Pure and simple. And with that you will do the worst possible thing you could do — destroy the hopes and dreams so many millions have placed in you. With just one speech tomorrow night you will turn a multitude of young people who were the backbone of your campaign into disillusioned cynics. You will teach them what they’ve always heard is true — that all politicians are alike. I simply can’t believe you’re about to do what they say you are going to do. Please say it isn’t so. (snip)

Some great analysis from Jules Crittenden. And what would happen if Obama listened to Moore … we would be turning Afghanistan over to the Taliban of course.

The only American president who ever sent a tingle up my leg was John F. Kennedy, but then I was only 17 years old. I haven’t enjoyed a single presidential tingle since then!

He is worse than Chamberlain. Our Troops are dying and the old media doesn’t seem to care like they did when Bush was in office. Everyday and every hour reporting on deaths. The won is a year late. Blood is on his hands.

I think Michael Moore is finally coming around to what the conservative right has known all along: “that all politicians are alike.” Obama is nothing more than a skillful politician with a gullible base of supporters.

obama now owns himself a war. afghanistan will be his waterloo. he is not even close to being intelligent enough to run a country, muchless a war.
can’t blame this failure on GWB barry, it’s all on you.

Bush asked the American people for their vote, for or against war, the unanimous vote was for…no one likes war but his most important statement was…if so, we need to keep the war over there….and he was so right!!!! Who wants the Taliban in their living room with machine guns!!!!

Obama is sickening from my point of view. Reasons include: as he speeks right now he does so from positions of selfishness, denial of responsibilty, blame, and discouraging of our troops. He solidifies our advarsaries ideals, that if they extend this war we are out of here; that if anyone else chooses to cause trouble…we haven’t a response.

Many an old soldier has conversed with another old soldier, relating, ‘it is good wars are fought by the young and uninformed’. I certainly would not serve under this non Commander in Chief and the present Congress. A young soldier may have served for idealisum/freedom, but never for idealisum/’depending upon’ where the bigger hail is to the One.

      @7

      that vote was not unanimous.
he won the vote, but only Saddam H. got the unanimous vote (100%) or maybe Kim IL Jung also
