The New $300 Million Louisiana Purchase on the Backs of Tax Payers … How Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.) Vote was Bought for Obamacare

Hopefully most of you remember the real Louisiana Purchase when the US purchased from France land encompassing all or part of 14 current U.S. states and two Canadian provinces.

However, sadly on Saturday night once again we were witness to a government payoff to Democrat Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu to secure her vote so that Harry Reid could get 60 votes and begin the debate on Obamacare in the Senate. $300 million payoff for her vote! Hell, the original Louisiana Purchase only cost $15 million. Can you say quit pro quo, payoff!

In the end the Senate vote was 60–39 to further the debate on the governemnt take over of healthcare.

On the eve of Saturday’s showdown in the Senate over health-care reform, Democratic leaders still hadn’t secured the support of Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), one of the 60 votes needed to keep the legislation alive. The wavering lawmaker was offered a sweetener: at least $100 million in extra federal money for her home state.

And so it came to pass that Landrieu walked onto the Senate floor midafternoon Saturday to announce her aye vote — and to trumpet the financial “fix” she had arranged for Louisiana. “I am not going to be defensive,” she declared. “And it’s not a $100 million fix. It’s a $300 million fix.”

It was an awkward moment (not least because her figure is 20 times the original Louisiana Purchase price). But it was fairly representative of a Senate debate that seems to be scripted in the Southern Gothic style. The plot was gripping — the bill survived Saturday’s procedural test without a single vote to spare — and it brought out the rank partisanship, the self-absorption and all the other pathologies of modern politics. If that wasn’t enough of a Tennessee Williams story line, the debate even had, playing the lead role, a Southerner named Blanche with a flair for the dramatic.

Stop the ACLU brings up a point that I have pondered myself with regards to the Democrats praise of Obamacare. If this bill is met with such wide spread support as they claim, then why is it so difficult for Democrats to even begin the debate? Arms had to be twisted, back room deals made and Senators paid off with pork. If moderate Democrats like Lincoln, Landrieu, and Nelson and Independents like Lieberman are sincere in their comments against a government run option plan, federal paid for abortion and increases in taxes … how can this bill get 60 votes to end the debate and move to a final vote?

California, Delaware, South Carolina and Florida registered record rates of unemployment in October, 2009. Worse yet, joblessness rose in 29 states in October as compared to 22 states the previous month.  What happened to all those shovel ready jobs from the $787 billion stimulus plan?

Joblessness rose in 29 U.S. states last month compared with 22 in September, the Labor Department said today in Washington. Michigan had the highest jobless rate at 15.1 percent, followed by Nevada at 13 percent and Rhode Island at 12.9 percent.

The national rate last month reached a 26-year high of 10.2 percent, weighing on consumer spending that accounts for about 70 percent of the economy. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said Nov. 17 that joblessness “likely will decline only slowly,” a reason policy makers will keep interest rates near zero to ensure growth is sustained.

The United States is staring at a 10.2% unemployment rate; however, that does not reflect that actual number of unemployed workers. The real unemployment number is 17.5%.

Incumbent North Dakota Democrat Senator Byron Dorgan trails in a potential 2010 Senate match up with Republican Governor John Hoeven. In a recent ZOGBY poll, Republican Governor John Hoeven leads Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan 55% to 36% with 9% undecided in a potential 2010 Senate match up.

If you do not represent the will of the people who elected you, why should they ever support and elect you again? North Dakota has been a “red” state voting for McCain, 53%–45%, over Obama in 2008 and for GWB, 51%-48%, in the 2004 Presidential election. There is a reason why most every poll shows that Americans are against the Obamacare and the government take over of healthcare, especially in North Dakota. Vote against the will of “We the People” Senate Democrats and you will be given a pink slip.

Twenty-eight percent of likely North Dakotan voters support the healthcare bill proposed by President Obama compared with 62% who oppose the proposed legislation, including 48% who strongly oppose the bill.  A plurality of respondents believe that both North Dakota Senators Byron Dorgan and Kent Conrad support the proposed bill.

It is a word of warning to those Democrat Senators and US Representatives for that matter who reside in “Blue” states. Listen and follow what your constituencies say or you will be thrown out of office on your ear. North Dakota voters are strongly in opposition to the Obamacare legislation being rammed through both the House and today’s Senate cloture vote along partisan Democrat lines.

These House and Senate Democrats have shown they are anything but “blue dog” Democrats. In the end, they support and ensure that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi remain in power a long with their liberal, socialist agenda. Vote them out!

Harry Reid obviously paid off the last two remaining Senators, as AP calls them, centrist Sens. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. Make no mistake about it America, that means you Arkansas and Louisiana, these two are not centrists. No centrist would ever have allowed debate to go forward on this 2074 page piece of trash bill. We all now that Landrieu was paid off with the $100 million provision on page 432 of Reid’s bill. Remember when Obama said he was going to change the way Washington, DC does things and usher in a new era of hope and change to the political process Inside the Beltway? Guess that can go down as one more lie as the quit pro quo payoff to Mary Landrieu for her vote can attest to that.

Landrieu and Lincoln, please do not lie to your constituents or the American people. Your cloture vote all but ensured passage of this healthcare bill that will subjugate Americans to a government controlled health care system.

An Inconvenient Hacking … Hacked CRU Emails Show Global Warming Fraud & Conspiracy

It’s not easy being “GREEN” especially when it appears that the entire so-called man-made global warming science was a fabricated conspiracy.

It was an inconvenient email hacking to say the least that exposes what could be one of the greatest scandals and conspiracies in modern science … can you say “junk science”.

The UK Telegraph reported that emails and thousands of files have been hacked from a UK advocacy center, the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka Hadley CRU). The emails and files were reposted on-line which all but indicate that these “global warming” activists were as Town Hall states, “have been playing fast and loose with scientific evidence of global climate change.” The emails show manipulation of evidence, doubts about whether the world really was heating up, collusion, corruption and suppression of evidence

The file was large, about 61 megabytes, containing hundreds of files.

I’ve seen the file, it appears to be genuine and from CRU. Others who have seen it concur- it appears genuine. There are so many files it appears unlikely that it is a hoax. The effort would be too great.

Casey Anthony criminal defense lawyers, Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon, yesterday pointed the finger at meter reader Roy Kronk as a suspect in the muder of Caylee Anthony. The Anthony defense team is now casting suspicion at Roy Kronk, the man who found Casey Anthony’s remains. Caylee’s remains were ultimately found less than 1/2 mile away from the hoe of Cindy and George Anthony.

The Anthony defense team looks to have Kronk go from meter reader to scape goat in an effort to get their client Casey Anthony off the hook for the murder of her daughter.

Reporter Kathi Belich said, “His bitter exes have accused Kronk of almost everything but the Kennedy assassination and the 9-11 attacks,” Belich said. “But they were not questioned under oath. And the defense did not provide any evidence to support any of the allegations.”

Obama Job Approval Continues to Slip, 50% – 44% According to Gallup, Correction … Under 50%, Also Rasmussen & Quinnipiac Polls

How low can he go? All Polls show that Obama job approval has hit the skids. Some polling shows that Obama has dipped below 50% for first time.

President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings continue to fall. According to Gallup, only 50% now approve of Obama’s job performance. That is down from 68% in January 2009.

In other bad polling news for The One, only 47% think President Obama’s policies are “about right” in promoting efforts to aid the black community. That is down from the 64% only a year ago.

The Rasmussen Daily Tracking poll for November 14, 2009 has Barack Obama at -14, OUCH! This is the fifth day in a row that Obama had a negative double digit rating and the -14 represents the lowest Presidential approval index of Obama’s Administration. Rasmussen poll also shows that only 46% approve of Obama while 52% are against.
