Alyssa Bustamante Murder of 9 Year Old Elizabeth Olten : Ultimately, she stated she wanted to know what it felt like”

What evil lurks in the hearts of some people?

What makes their heart so black that they would take the life of another just to know what it was like? Now compound the issue with the fact that it was a 15 year old girl that murdered an innocent 9 year old girl with premeditated malice aforethought.

Alyssa Bustamante – jail

15 year old Alyssa Bustamante strangled, stabbed, cut the throat and murdered 9 year old Elizabeth Olten. Why? According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. David Rice, “Ultimately, she stated she wanted to know what it felt like!”

AlyssaBMyYearbook

Alyssa Bustamante

Rice, who interviewed Bustamante in the days after Elizabeth’s disappearance, said she confessed to investigators and led them to the fourth grader’s well-concealed body in a wooded area near their neighborhood in St. Martins, a small town west of Jefferson City.

A Cole County judge ruled Wednesday that Bustamante, who has been held in Missouri’s juvenile justice system, should be tried as an adult. Hours later, the teen was indicted on adult charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action for allegedly using a knife to kill Elizabeth. A judge later entered a not guilty plea on Bustamante’s behalf and referred her to the public defender’s office.

15 year old Alyssa Bustamante has been indicted for 1st degree murder of 9 year old Elizabeth Olten. Why type of dark individual plots such an act and then follows through with it? Elizabeth_Olten2There had to be red flags yet once again we see that no one intervened. The end result, a murdered 9 year old and a 15 year old whose life is over.

Alyssa Bustamante dug two holes in the ground that she would later use for a grave on the Friday prior to the murder. This cold hearted, dark individual then attended classes and plotted the murder of he 9 year old neighbor Alyssa Bustamante.

9 year old Elizabeth Olten went missing on October 21, 2009.

Alyssa Bustamante plotted and murdered Elizabeth Olten with malice and aforethought just to know what it death felt like. UNREAL. One might say that she could have saved the family and friends of Elizabeth Olten much pain if Bustamante had practiced on her self instead. Who does this? Better than that, how could no one around her have seen the signs?  Bustamante had tried to commit suicide at the age of 13.

Yet Bustamante had tried to commit suicide at age 13 and had been receiving mental health treatment for depression and cutting herself, said David Cook, the chief juvenile officer in Cole County. Once, she led her family to believe she was attending a local church event when she instead sneaked off to a concert in St. Louis, about two hours away, Cook said. On one or two other occasions, Bustamante spent the night in the woods without permission, he said.

After her arrest, Bustamante tried to cut herself with her own fingernails while being held in juvenile custody, said her appointed juvenile defense attorney Kurt Valentine.

Bustamante was ordered held without bond pending her trial. If convicted of first-degree murder, she would be sentenced to life in prison without parole. Sadly, there is no death penalty as Alyssa Bustamante’s curiosity with knowing what death felt like could have been provided to her as justice for her crimes.

And in typical defense attorney speak … appointed juvenile defense attorney Kurt Valentine said that if placed in an adult jail, “We are throwing away the child and we are signing a death sentence for Alyssa,” Maybe Alyssa Bustamante should have contemplated that consequence before she did the crime and took the life of an innocent 9 year old in such a heinous manner. One might say that Bustamante is already a lost cause.

He argued Bustamante should remain in the juvenile system, where she could potentially be rehabilitated before being set free by age 21. Valentine warned that Bustamante would either kill herself or be assaulted and killed by others if she were placed in an adult jail cell or prison.

“We are throwing away the child and we are signing a death sentence for Alyssa,” Valentine said. “She is not going to survive her time in the Cole County jail.”

There is just plain evil in the world and she is the proof.

Amazing that her lawyer want her to stay in the juvenile system and be released at 21. He is only kidding himself.

#3= As far as this Teenager’s parents supposedly being in jail currently —–>Good! Sounds like that is where they belong. Is what you are trying to convey —-is that this teenager was a product of being brought up in a bad environment?? Ok. Let’s say that is the case then.

WHERE IS THE HUMAN COMPASSION these days? You mean to tell me that there was not one decent role model available in this teen’s life to pick up on those obvious warning signs? SICK TO DEATH of adults who know something is wrong who stick their heads in the sand and do NOTHING. Oh,, Well—you say—they are afraid to speak up and go to the proper authorities because they don’t want a potential lawsuit ??? BS!

STOP THE PC BS, AMERICA! WAKE UP and MAKE A DIFFERENCE

LET’s ALL DO OUR DUE DILLIGENCE AND TAKE PROPER ACTION BY NOTIFYING THE AUTHORITIES WHEN SOMETHING IS WRONG!

This pisses me off to no end that not ONE PERSON could have simply picked up a phone, made an anonyomus call as a concerned citizen?

This henious crime PERHAPS could have been avoided had someone, somewhere had the intestinal fortitude to DO THE RIGHT THING.

If one bleeding heart Moonbat Lib comes on here and tries to come to the defense of this deranged Teenager-you leave yourself open to written attack from others. This kind of act is inexcusable.

RIP….another child lost to a violent crime in America—at the hands of a demon of our own society! I would love to find out more about the losers who are her parents, too. If I find out what prison they are incarcerated in and I am in the middle of a bad day with a little extra time on my hands—think I will put some words down on paper to let them know they really, truly should take some blame and responsibility for the POOR JOB THEY DID RAISING THEIR OWN CHILD. In the end, and IMO—it all begins in the home.

**** JUSTICE FOR ELIZABETH OLTEN *** & her family

Bustamante will be tried as an adult—ROT IN JAIL ! You are a child of Satan and may God have mercy on your twisted soul!

ROT ! ROT ! ROT! in jail. It is so sad that no one was there in Bustamante’s left to stop the insanity from building. That is the ONLY thing I feel sorry for—that there were no adults in your life to pull you out of her mad spiral downfall into hell.

I do not feel sorry for this person. She made a decision to murder and she should face the consequences of her actions. I’m so tired of this feel sorry for the perpetrator crap. What about the victim? What about the victims family?

Screw that. She needs to be punished for what she did.

What a tragedy all the way around. What I do know is this was an act of evil that could have been avoided. I honestly can’t stop thinking about this beautiful little child’s last moments and can only hang on to the thought of God holding her in arms and comforting her. I don’t know enough about Alyssa’s family to pass too much judgement, but I feel because I am a mother of a fifteen year old I can say that these parents missed some major signs. Obviously they knew of their daughter’s severe problems and were taking action to rehabilitate her, but what I don’t understand is why they didn’t know about her You tube videos and her myspace/facebook profiles. I would like to think they would have kept a close eye on her knowing she was suffering from depression and who knows what else. I know that my motherly instinct is to keep my children closer when I see them drifting. Children need supervision and they need someone guiding them in the right direction at all times. I feel as though this girl has been let down by her family and in turn she will pay the ultimate price for what they could have prevented. I think she should be held accountable for her actions, but again this is all just so tragic for everyone. God bless Elizabeth’s family. The death of a child is painful enough- I can’t imagine knowing the details can be easy for them in any way. They have a long road ahead of them and I pray for their strenght every day.

Hope she also wanted to know what it felt like to spend the rest of her life in jail.

RIP Elizabeth and all the innocents out there who are abused and murdered on a daily basis. The laws protecting these EVIL MONSTERS should be changed and give the protection to the victims and their families instead it going to the murdering slime that walks the streets looking for their next victim.

This was out right premeditation and poor Elizabeth was lured into those woods by someone she knew and apparently trusted.

My thoughts go to the 2nd grave which Alyssa dug in preparation for another victim.

IMO she should be put directly in an adult jail or prison so she will have Big Bertha take care of her……and if they kill her, she will then see how it feels personally.

This girl will NEVER bE REHABILITATED no matter how long therapy takes…..first she would need a soul and that she hasn’t got.
She is beyond saving now……she is doomed.

Lord if she ever went into the Juvenile system, she would be once again out to kill again.

Her only defense now will be Mental ILLNESS but even that won’t help her.

I wonder how many other Alyssa’s are out there plotting and planning murders.

THIS GIRL WAS SENDING UP RED FLAGS AND NO ONE WAS WATCHING THEM WAVE.

It’s because no one in society wants to think a ‘teenager’, or another person for that matter, can do ‘this sort of thing’. I am tired of that kind of talk. Wake up! Satan is alive and well and works overtly and covertly in society. He uses people just like God does. Or think of it how you want, I have known teens who would just as soon kill you as to look at you. Truly no remorse and truly no reason.

    8. A Texas Grandfather on November 19th, 2009 11:34 pm

This demented teeager should have been placed in a place where she could not hurt herself or anyone else. She should have been there by the time she was twelve.
Now, as a fifteen year old she has committed the ultimate crime of taking anothers life and for nothing more than curiosity.
Society should demand that she be put to death herself and quickly. This type of person cannot be rehabilitated and to warehouse her for the rest of her natural life makes no sense.
Make an example of this case. Broadcast it far an wide so that parents will pay attention and stop placing their heads in the sand regarding sick and damaged children.

      #6- Sanny says:

THIS GIRL WAS SENDING UP RED FLAGS AND NO ONE WAS WATCHING THEM WAVE.

Hell, yes! and there you have it. Are there no decent people left in this world anymore?

No one wants to “get involved”. AMERICA! Stop the PC bullsh*t! We must make a difference and help to protect the innocent victims. Damn straight if this Teenager was my next door neighbor…would have packed my families belongings up and high tailed it out of there. First, though- she (the Satan Worshipper or Just GIRL INTERUPTED WITH MENTAL INSANITY Big-Time!) would have been called out to local authorities as a person of interest (JUVENILE DELINQUENT at best) to keep an eye on. Realistically, we know of hundreds of cases where even when Family Services or LE is involved-these murderers and violent perps of our society still manage to slip throught the cracks and get away with carrying out their crimes. Still, had more measures been taken—there is that chance that Elizabeth would still be alive today. My heart breaks to think of how frightened this poor child must have been at the hands of Bustamente. I hope that God was with her in the end as he is now.

This creature deserves the ultimate punishment-the death penalty- because she committed the ultimate crime. She deserves no mercy. Before her identity was revealed, people were speculating about her race. Well, now we know. Where are the racists now?

    11. Hugo on November 29th, 2009 11:15 am

I remember an episode of Fraiser, where the two psyciatrist brothers employ a couple of trademen in the flat to carry out repairs. Upon recognising the tradesmen as two brothers who bullied them at school, Niles (Fraiser’s younger brother) asks to chat to the younger tradesman. Towards the end of the episode, the younger trademan is in tears confessing to being a school bully as “It was the only thing I could do well”.

We all set out to make our mark in life, right from an early age. Some kids excel at school, either academically or in sports, or both. Then there are those that don’t succeed at anything, or who don’t grasp the value of their real strengths. These are often the children who find advantage or differences of their own to exploit.

Allysa was probably one of those kids who started out with a huge lack of feeling of self worth – her suicide attempt would testify to that. Let’s face it, having good grades at school is probably not going to increase her street cred, and she had no one there to council her that achieving at school was good. Her backround dictated that she hang around with the dropouts, whereas her abilities dictated that she has potential at school. At an age where fitting in is everything, she was on a collision course. Thankfully, not every mixed up kid ends up killing someone, but she is hardly a mature adult who knew her own mind.

What she did was an evil thing – there is no doubt about that.

In the UK we have had our fair share of killers either the same age or younger.

We don’t have the death penalty over here, and I guess even if we did we would probably have removed the death penalty for juvinile offenders, as you did in 2005.

The desire to lay the blame at someone’s feet for this terrible crime is often at the centre for a call for vengance and the death penalty. Whilst it is understandible to want to lay the blame when this sort of thing happens, and seek retribution, such action will certainly not bring the little girl back and I’m not sure it would prevent future murders of this kind. Though it would be easy to simply blame Allysa and be done with it.

Lets subtitute blame for accountability. Allysa is a minor. She had a right to a loving family to nurture her through childhood and adolescence – recognising her achievements at school and encouraging her to channel her energy towards building on them, and possibly to offer her council and guidence in her early stages of adulthood. I bet everyone who has commented on this story here has had that benefit to a greater or lesser extent. Allysa also had a right for the State to fulfil its duties towards her when her family unit proved to be non existent in its support for her. She has thus been failed at least twice, once by her family and secondly by the state.

Alyssa is the product of a terrible upbringing coupled with her own mental illnesses – and I use the plural because I’m sure she has several diagnosable conditions.

With the right parenting or guardienship, she could have become another person entirely.

I don’t agree with the death penalty at all, save for the likes of Saddam Hussain where I can see his execution served a valid purpose. I could never condone her execution now or as an adult for this crime committed when she was only 15.

I speak as a parent who’s daughters have passed the age of 9 and 15. If my 9 year old child was murdered by a 15 year old my rage would be towards the authorities for allowing someone like Allysa to develop in this way unchecked, when we already know that both her parents are in prison. I would feel a sense of sheer pity for Allysa, much as I did when I read this story.

Killing Allysa would solve nothing, and would be to my mind, serving only as somehwere to lay the blame. Indeed, far from acting as a deterrent, her execution may prove to be a rallying call to the other few like minded teens out there. A death penalty trial would likely cost millons, money that could be channelled into understanding adolescent behaviour and helping identify other Allysas.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that society’s revulsion towards killers and its tendancy to brand them as sub human was probably of appeal to this confused 15 year old girl who cannot find her way towards some other kind of recognition. Indeed, graphic accounts of this crime on the internet are probably counterpoductive in this respect – reaching out to would be Allysas to encourage them to do the same, or even ‘improve’ on the depravity of the crime.

She is obvioulsy not fit to live amongs us, not because she is some sort of saten or other possessed soul, but she is simply dangerous to both children and adults alike. Her immediate incarceration is a must.

What you americans do with her now is up to you. But I move that with in time she will come to regret her deed to the point that she may become a danger to herself.

    12. Scott on November 29th, 2009 11:47 am

I hope shes is brutally killed in prison. I hope they lock her up with the most violent pyscho’s we have in the can. She wont last a day.

There is more to meets the eyes in this whole case!

First of all, the ‘wanting to know how it felt like to kill’ is something that is sooo untrue! This was leaked by the interrogator after he question Alyssa. During the interrogation, Alyssa only had her grandma with her and she kept answering ‘idk’ to the question which made her grandma upset. She then leave the room leaving Alyssa with the officers who illegally continue to question her. Being scare and everything Alyssa started answering ‘yes’ to the questions and one of those questions was ‘if she did it to know how it felt like to kill’ hence the reasons it wasnt allowed in court!

The whole timeframe of 45min is also impossible for a girl like Alyssa to have done it all alone… EO was of similar size to Alyssa (Alyssa was only an inch or an inch and a half taller and looking by her actual weight maybe 8-10 pounds heavier) so there would have been a really harsch struggle between the 2 when Alyssa first tried to strangle her… E.O. had been strangled until unconsciousness (serial killer Joel Riftkin, 6 feet, strangled very petite women and said that strangling a human being is far from what you see on tv and it took him 15 min to be able to do so. Other stranglers said the same thing), then she got stabbed 8 times and had her throat slit (although she was probably already dead). Depending on how the body was place, Alyssa would have to move it into the hole and then covered it so well that maybe searchers and officers walked by and never noticed the body! Add to the timeframe the fact that she had to lured E.O. in the woods plus going back to the house, etc…. The FBI seized all of Alyssa’s clothes at her house but they never found any traces of blood or Elizabeth’s dna on any of those clothes, none, niet, nothing so some ppl would probably say she probably washed it but the problem is that even if washed, the forensics would have been able to find traces of DNA which they didnt! So, she would have changed in the woods and hide the clothes? The LE never found any bloody clothes at the murder scene nor around it, same thing with the murder weapon which had never been found!

The bf got interviewed 8 times by the FBI and Highway Patrol and he even failed a polygraph test beside the fact that he moved out of state right after Alyssa got arrest… Why is that? It is known that Alyssa spent the following day which was a school day at the bf house but then why was the bf not at school himself? I know the little sister of Alyssa was bullied by Elizabeth and said some very sad things a 6yo should never say or know (wanting to die because of being pushed around by the 9yo thus her saying there is more to the story in some online sites) but Alyssa never wanted her sister to come forward and talk about how she was bullied by E.O. so if Alyssa doesnt want to involved her sister, could she do the same with the bf?

A friend of Alyssa or should I say an ex-gf of Alyssa went on national newshows to tell her story on how Alyssa did that or say this but it turned out this girl was also lying and spreading false rumors as many of Alyssa’s friends and some who didnt know each other said that Jen stayed on the couch the whole night of that party mentioned in that famous interview and never was she she Alyssa let along alone with Alyssa. Those ppl said the party was so jam-packed that it was impossible to get a hold and being alone with Alyssa! Strangely after those interviews on national tv, Ms Meyer started mentioning her writing a book about her life and the event but fortunately it never happened and she moved to TX for a short time!

Anyway… there is much more to this story than meets the eyes!
