40 Year Old Women … No Mammograms For You … Welcome to the Future of Obamacare & Restriction of Health Care

So Sarah Palin was way off base when she mentioned “death panels,” eh?

40 year old women, no soup, um … no mammograms for you!

Be very afraid America … this is no coincidence that such a recommendation came out now Pink_ribbonas Obama and Democrats try and pass universal healthcare. How do you think that a government run option can afford to pay for 41 million new insured’s, they cut costs by calling screenings or procedures unnecessary. Welcome to the trial balloon birth of rationed health care.

A Government Task Force has stated that self-breast exams do no good and some women don’t need to start getting mammograms until they’re 50. Welcome to the beginning of Obamacare and socialized, government controlled healthcare. This is how it begins, a government task force turning decades old health care breast screening protocol on it’s head.

Shocking recommendations given the American Cancer Society has encouraged women for more than 20 years to do monthly self-exams and start getting routine mammograms in their 40s.

The government task force, which is made up of doctors and scientists, reported getting screened too early causes false alarms and unnecessary biopsies.

Dr. Robert Pulliam, of Professional Medical Ultrasonics in Beckley, said early detection of any form of cancer increases survival rates.

How many woman in their 40’s are alive today because the received a mammograms and had early detection of breast cancer? In this day and age, sadly, pretty much every one knows some one who has had breast cancer. Personally, I think this is appalling. Having had so many relatives and friend’s moms and sisters be diagnosed with breast cancer in their 40’s … I take this personally. This is the slippery slope of health care when a so-called “independent” government task force of doctors try and change what has worked for years. Shame on you!

In its first reevaluation of breast cancer screening since 2002, the independent government-appointed panel [talk about your oxymorons] recommended the changes, citing evidence that the potential harm to women having annual exams beginning at age 40 outweighs the benefit.

Coming amid a highly charged national debate over health-care reform and simmering suspicions about the possibility of rationing medical services, the recommendations immediately became enveloped in controversy.

Who are you going to put your trust in America, government shills, or The American Cancer Society? The Susan G. Komen Foundation that has done tremendous work in the battle against cancer had a comment or two regarding this so-called recommendation.

Executive director of the mid-Michigan Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation Chris Pearson said this government recommendation is scary.

What does the American Cancer Society have to say about this recommendation?

But the American Cancer Society, the American College of Radiology and other experts condemned the change, saying the benefits of routine mammography have been clearly demonstrated and play a key role in reducing the number of mastectomies and the death toll from one of the most common cancers.

“Tens of thousands of lives are being saved by mammography screening, and these idiots want to do away with it,” said Daniel B. Kopans, a radiology professor at Harvard Medical School. “It’s crazy — unethical, really.”

Hologic Shares (HOLX) Fell 3.2% After Government Task Force Recommended Less Mammograms

American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists say hell no to federal panel’s conclusions.

Exit Question: Why would anyone trust the government or any so-called independent, government panel with their health care? THINK AMERICA!

sorry, i love this website and i don’t support obamacare, but mammograms harm more people than they hurt there is plenty of evidence to support that. I’m a 42 year old women and I did extensive research and decided not to get them every year.

DEMOCRATIC HEALTHCARE REFORM IS DEATH .

Gee, thanks Mr. President for controlling our lives.

Radiation CAUSES cancer. Why would you want to douse your breasts in radiation every year??????
      (hmmmmmm…….”imagine that! I’ve been getting regular yearly mammograms since I was 35 and now at 53 they’ve discovered I have breast cancer – thank god I was RADIATING my breasts EVERY YEAR or they may never have discovered it !!!”) {sarcasm off}

THINK! Be LOGICAL! Use COMMON SENSE!

LOL #1 where did you do extensive research?

Give me a break. There is also PLENTY of evidence that suggests they help. In FACT, a majority of doctors support mammograms for women in the 40s. It HAS SAVED LIVES. How can anyone deny that?

I love the liberal spin on this….

Once again, the government making a mockery out of something that is UNDOUBTEDLY important.

Let me guess, if a woman has a history of breast cancer in her family, mammograms do more harm than good?

Give me a break on your extensive research…You are just muttering what the administration said yesterday….

Human husbandry at it’s very best, compliments
of your loving, caring Government of the day!

Liberals do NOT use logic or common sense. It’s that simple. Look at the disasters, cash for clunkers (FAIL) at a cost of $24K per taxpayer, 800B stimulus to create jobs (FAIL) fixed saved and created jobs in non existent districts across the nation, although it just a “mistake” said the WH and liberals…LOL…Transparecy (FAIL) have you seen recovery.gov…LOL Healthcare (FAIL)…Americans by a large majority do not want Obamascare….

OH and BTW, spending my children and my grandchildren’s future into OBLIVION!

The list can go on and on…

      I love the tee shirt

How to Annoy a Liberal? Use logic and common sense!

      Nice try.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (read – “the Obama Administration”) has clarified that the administration’s policy on mammograms has not changed and that the government panel that suggested that some women don’t need to start rregular mammograms until they are 50 does not represent administration policy.

So much for your claims that this represents the future under Obama’s proposed health care reforms.

      Nice try, though.

#1 and #4: Is this why the USA has the lowest rate of death from breast cancer? Didn’t you also hear that the O Admin not only wants to stop mammograms but they also want women to stop self exams!

SourceThe U.S. Preventive Services Task Force this week recommended every-other-year mammograms to screen for breast cancer for women starting at age 50, and recommended against teaching breast self-examination. That’s contrary to American Cancer Society recommendations that say women should have a screening mammogram every year starting at age 40, and that women should learn breast self-examination in their 20s.

Rationing is beginning. Prostrate and colon exams will be next.

#8:that was (your) government that started this so nice try but no thanks. sebelius is talking out of her ass and not her mouth. democrats only have one line of thought and that is what obama’s owners tell them to think.
want to bet that tomorrow sebelius will be thrown under the bus by your boy ?

    11. repochik on November 18th, 2009 9:48 pm

if I waited until I was fifty I wouldn”t have my right breast, thank god my Dr. suggested a mammogram, I had a tumor not noticied thru self exam & it was removed @ age 41

      #4 Bubble Head Bimbo!

YOU CANNOT be SERIOUS???? WTF is WRONG with you?

I don’t need you or my damn Government controlling part of my overall female health care/preventative maintenance needs.

If you are a female- you are a dumb one. If you are a Man- shut the hell up before I suggest that every dufus like you with a penis go in for your annual bobbit-tization. YOU ARE A LUMMOX!

    13. NO thanks to O on November 19th, 2009 12:38 am

For this PR I have to say it is a Ruse that is going to backfire not on the Press but unto the Women in this nation. It’s a hot topic that would gain millions if not billions attention. It is more than likely a way for Insurance companies to say Didn’t you hear Women over 50 require a Mammogram – Your under 50 Your not covered.
There is always MOTIVE to such Press Releases.
Women though are not stupid. Women are though the last to take on their own health. Their children and or family comes first. IF they can afford insurance. Women are not going to take the word of a press release as Gold. Self exams monthly and see their Doc as required and do what is necessary for their own health history. IF “if” it is affordable or is covered. THAT should be the Targeted Issue – WHO is able to have proper health care maintenance covered by their insurance – or if you have none what are your options. I believe that this was created by the Health Insurance Companies .. With Obama’s approval .. but of course. ;0

    14. super dave on November 19th, 2009 10:44 am

the libcrats know that if women wait until 50 instead of 40 that a majority of those with breast cancer will die therefore diminishing the population to make more room for illegals and terrorists.

    15. amo on November 19th, 2009 11:00 am

Did you ever notice that men invented mammogram machines that smash women’s breasts and blast them with radiation? But then, did you ever wonder why there are no machines that smash men’s testicles (and other junk) and blast the whole package with radiation while calling it “early detection?” Why do male surgeons recommend “preventive mastectomies” but never “preventive castration?” Seriously. Think about it…

    16. Michelle Smith on November 19th, 2009 11:19 am

I can’t believe some of the stupidity coming from the left. How dare the government tell me that I can or cannot have a mammogram. Mammogram’s are effective and useful. I know first hand how mammogram’s can save lives.

The government needs to stay out of my life.

    17. NewGirlBoston on November 19th, 2009 11:29 am

Seems as if his Administration and the WH has now BACKED OFF this idea to nix Mammogram coverage since there was such an outcry of objection!

OVERULED. Now stating Mammogram coverage will not change. Since he vascillates worse than a bunny rabbit in heat—let’s see how long this new revelation lasts.

With this RIDICULOUS 2,000+ page Health Care Reform plan still kicking around waiting for Senate approval—seeing is believing.

Please, Lord do not let this pass!

#10, looks like you lost the bet.

To all of you (well, almost all of you), what warped, twisted logic are you employing in your attempts to pin this statement (that women don’t need mammograms until they turn 50) on the Obama administration? Nobody in the administration said it or has supported it since it was said.

    20. Dolf on November 19th, 2009 5:29 pm

you might think the Obama admin. was informed on this by bipartisan doctors.

“Rationing is beginning. Prostrate and colon exams will be next.”
      -katablog-

In anticipation of this, and to set a “good example”, Chairman MaoBarry “assumed the position” for a colon exam in a recent visit with a Japanese leader (Hirohito’s son, I believe).

The world misread this as Obowma-Gate II, but now the truth is out. All hail Duh Won, and pray Michelle doesn’t bow anytime soon and cause a total eclipse of the moon (pun intended).

    22. super dave on November 20th, 2009 10:08 am

in your 50′s and in need of lifesaving surgery ? you will die with obama care.
#19: this statement was posted by your government and i think obama is considered somewhat of a leader. even doctors were outraged by this statement from your government.
      nice try.

    23. Kim Rodgers on November 28th, 2009 2:57 pm

Women in their 30′s and 40′s who get breast cancer statistically get a more AGGRESSIVE form of the disease than women over 50, so starting at 50? That would save alot of money because we will all be DEAD. I am a 40 yr old woman with a NON palapable tumor that has Stage llA, Grade 3, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Hmmm, it was found on my first baseline visit at 40 years old! 46 Children died from Chicken Pox in 2003 resulting in a mandatory vaccination. How many women will die from breast cancer? More than 46………………
