They Lie … Obama Administration Defends Obama Bow to Japanese Emperor with Protocol Fallacy

Obama senior officials fabricate protocol to justify Obama’s bow.

This is priceless … Obama Administration is trying to tell us that Barack Hussein Obama bowed to the Emperor of Japan because The One was simply observing protocol. WHAT PROTOCOL? Or better yet, whose protocol? Unnamed senior Obama officials now see fit to flat out lie to the American public that is it US protocol to for a US President to bow to a foreign leader or monarch. Maybe they would like to cite that protocol?

A senior administration official said President Barack Obama was simply observing protocol when he bowed to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko upon arriving at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Saturday.

“I think that those who try to politicize those things are just way, way, way off base,” the official said. “He observes protocol. But I don’t think anybody who was in Japan – who saw his speech and the reaction to it, certainly those who witnesses his bilateral meetings there – would say anything other than that he enhanced both the position and the status of the U.S., relative to Japan. It was a good, positive visit at an important time, because there’s a lot going on in Japan.”

As the Weekly Standard states, “Why won’t that “senior administration official” come out from behind the curtain and make that assertion in his own name? Because it’s nonsense.”

However, until Barack Hussein Obama no President had ever bowed down before another leader. Protocol, Hardly! Barack Obama’s greatest bows:

Michael Goldfarb from the Weekly Standard called the bow “a violation of more than two centuries of tradition and protocol holding that American presidents never bow before royalty.”

Clarence Feldman, in commentary for American Thinker, wrote “I am quite certain that this is not the protocol, and is most unbecoming a president of the United States.”

Check out how the rest of the world greeted the Emperor of Japan. Not a bow to be found.

Barry personally deserves to bow to almost everyone
everywhere due to his actual standing in the world.
His problem of separating his personal inferiority from
the greatness of America is obvious. Those who surround
him dare not tell the fool he is not wearing any clothes.

When the Japanese say you screwed-up by bowing, you really blew it. Obama problem is he pisses off everybody…take the New York trial of Mo. Conservatives hate it and his half-ass way of taking just a couple guys to trial and not the whole bunch and stating they’ll convict him makes the left mad.

Unfortunately, Obama is a loser, John Kerry get ready.

obama will need to be impeached immediately.

It looks like he is getting up off the floor after being knocked down…are we sure he wasn’t “decked” by these tiny people?

It is not protocol for a US President to bow. It is not a sign of respect but fealty to a master.
He and his entourage are clueless. They spin (something they deridded others for) and refuse to take public responsibility for their statements.

    6. Disgusted With Barky on November 16th, 2009 12:07 pm

If Barky is such a stickler for protocol, can we assume that he would have given a hearty Seig Heil to Mr. Hitler? Whatever will he do if he ever meets a leader who likes a nice bj for a greeting?

Leaders of nations meet as equals, regardless of the size or power of either nation. That is protocol.

Ah, another right wing nut who knows nothing of Japanese culture. Tsk tsk tsk. Go back to school, kiddo.

      how embarassing!

    9. Scott on November 16th, 2009 2:16 pm

Bob – are you Japanese? Are you an expert on Japanese culture? Then STFU!

If even the Japanese say it was wrong then you just look like the left wing crybaby give me my welfare check idiot you really are.

Is it OK for a US president to bow to the Queen of England?
Also, was it OK for the first lady Michelle Obama to “touch” the Queen of England?

On another site it was pointed out (and backed up with a photo) that Nixon bowed though not was quite as much zeal. There are a number of issues a play here. FIRST & FOREMOST: corporate executive, senators, and especially the President has staff who are responsible for tutoring them on the correct protocol. Was this person out sick? Are they incompetent? Did President Obama go off-(protocol)-script? I certainly do not know. SECOND: Comparing the two picture I have to concede that Nixons bow seems much more appropriate, or more accurately, “stayed”; the act of giving and withholding in the same breath. I realize some people see that as strength.

I imagine it played out something like this… PROTOCOL OFFICER: …Mr President it’s also considered appropriate to bow along with the emperor.
PRESIDENT: OK, got it, Bow. Now what’s next?…
To this I say: “BAD PROTOCOL OFFICER, BAD!”
When dealing with any executive you NEVER assume they know what you mean, or understand the required nuances. And, NO, it’s not his job to research proper protocol. It’s his job to fix the mess we’re in and run the country. The 10-minutes it would take him to research and study “Japanese bowing protocol” is better spent matters of substance.

Since Barrack Obama doesn’t gauge his strength by the superficial, if you tell him to bow he’s going to bow without any half-stepping.

It’s a social faux pa (sp), no one died. Get some perspective people.

Bob, take your own advice. Learn the difference between Japanese culture and International protocol. When a Japanese citizen meets the Emproror, the rules of Japanes culture dictate his actions. When the leadesrs of two nations meet they are not bound the culture of either nation, host or visitor. They follow International protocaol. Unless one is Obama, in which case culture and protocol are replaced by pure stupidity.

    13. Ron on November 16th, 2009 6:27 pm

      Wow,

The right is really reaching on this one. You guys are morons.

    14. nurturer on November 17th, 2009 1:27 am

We didn’t he bow to Queen Elizabeth if it’s about protocol.

    15. super dave on November 17th, 2009 8:16 am

well, nixon and obama are just alike. nixon was impeached and had to step down and obama is nearly there now. won’t be long.
      ______
SM: Correction Super Dave. Nixon was never impeached. He resigned before articles of impeachment were ever done.

It was Slick Willie Clinton who was actually impeached, just for the record. However, i understand where you were going with your thought.

And now back to our regular program.

    16. Scott on November 17th, 2009 12:29 pm

Ron – wow…care to offer anything of substance besides the typical left wing lunatic response to the right? Go for a long walk off a short pier…we are all better for it.

    17. super dave on November 17th, 2009 5:06 pm

the right does not have to reach. we are already at the pinnacle and see all the left handed corruption produced by the party of libcrat thugs.

    18. Kat on November 17th, 2009 6:26 pm

OMG. Can you who keep using “right” and “left” please get a life?!?! This has nothing to do with PARTY lines… this is PROTOCOL. Simply stated: ANY citizen of the USA (yes, even a President) NEVER, under any circumstances bows to a monarch. PERIOD. That is why the Revolutionary War was fought! (Remember King George, and taxes, anyone?!?!) Those who do not know history (or protocol) are most definitely doomed to repeat it!

    19. AC on November 19th, 2009 12:07 pm

Ron, I guess you figure you won this debate because you called us a name. That’s KINDERGARTEN RULES, dude. Go have mommy tuck you in for your nap and leave the grownups to talk about the important things.
