Roman Polanski Arrested by Swiss Police on US Arrest Request for 1977 Sex Case with a 13 Year Old Girl

76 year old Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland on a decade old arrest warrant for Polanski’s involvement 1977 for having sex with a 13 year old girl. Polanski plead guilty in 1977 to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor; however, fled the United States before being sentenced.

Roman Polanski arrested in Switzerland

So much for personally receiving the lifetime achievement award Zurich Film Festival … director Roman Polanski arrested.

Polanski, 76, was taken into custody trying to enter Switzerland on Saturday, Zurich police said. A spokesman for the Swiss Justice Ministry said Polanski was arrested upon arrival at the airport.

He has lived in France for decades to avoid being arrested if he enters the United States and declined to appear in person to collect his Academy Award for Best Director for “The Pianist” in 2003.

The director pleaded guilty in 1977 to a single count of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, acknowledging he had sex with a 13-year-old girl. But he fled the United States before he could be sentenced, and U.S. authorities have had a warrant for his arrest since 1978.

Is it possible that after all this time that Polanski will be extradited back the the US and finally be sentenced for the ”drugging and raping a 13-year-old child?” It does make one wonder why now after so many other opportunities to make an arrest.

The Smoking Gun has the grand jury testimony transcripts of the sexual assault.

The Gothamist reports that Gailey, now Samantha Geimer, has asked for the charges to be dropped, as have Polanski’s lawyers who cited possible misconduct by the LA DA’s office and court. However, since when does the victim tell the DA whether a crime should be prosecuted or not?

Polansky should be sentenced for his alleged rape of a 13 year old; however, after all this time it does seem rather coincidental that Polansky was arrested in Switzerland amidst the recent IRS-UBS Swiss banking incident.

After fleeing the US he “took up” with a young girl, she was 14 or 15. What a poor excuse for a man. He lost his wife and unborn child in a horrible murder, but that does not excuse his behavior.

It’s likely he’ll be extradited and the charges dismissed. The original trial judge had abused his authority before sentencing, and then announced his intention of accepting Polanski’s plea bargain and then sentencing him in excess of the agreed penalty. Polanski had already admitted guilt; he fled only when the judge made it clear he was going to abuse his authority a second time. The judge who issued the current extradition request has already hinted that he believes there was a miscarriage of justice.

As for why it took this long, Polanski has very rarely been in a position to be extradited before. He has spent almost all of the last 30 years only in countries with extradition treaties with the US that would not permit his arrest (one of them being France, so, not exactly durance vile). He may have misjudged the situation in Switzerland, or maybe he thought the US had finally given up.

Ironically, the likely outcome is that Polanski will now be free to make a victory lap of all the film festivals he’s been avoiding, collecting all the awards that have been piling up for him in absentia for 30 years.

His ‘Ego’ participated in the crime and
then came back to bite him in the end.
Perhaps justice will bestow it’s own
      “lifetime award” to this pedophile.

#2, then why have an arrest warrant for him? Why extradite and waste tax payer $’s if they do not intend to do anything?

      That hardly makes sense.

I do not think that warrants would have been issued if they planned on doing nothing.

This is the best news I’ve heard in a long while. Finally hope that this pedaphile will face justice. Have you seen the reaction of the establishment media? Because his family member supposedly died at Auschwitz he should go free! What bizarre logic! Most don’t remember that Angelica Houston was also arrested in the rape of this young girl.

But I have a feeling that justice will never be served. It seems that chil-rape has become politically correct in Polanski’s case.

    6. kitty on September 27th, 2009 8:23 pm

and child rape has also become a catch and release program in America…

living in our neighborhoods as sex offenders to do it again and again and again………

Justice is not really served as it should be.

These vermin monsters need to be locked up for life…

The left is having a full Mumia Meltdown on this one. Check out TalkLeft where they are banning people for disagreeing in the comment section.

Is there any group of perverts the left won’t defend? Cop Killers, Gitmo Terrorists, ACORN child prostitution facilitators, now a 40 year old man having sex with a 13 year old girl.

The left just loves the elites, while claiming to stand for the common man.

The Commie-lib media is scolding America for this arrest. “How dare you arrest a Hollywood award winning director who had a family member die in the Holocaust. All he did was drug and rape a 13 year old and then flee the country and thumb his nose at justice for 30 years. Wouldn’t law enforcement’s time be better served prosecuting those who oppose socialized medicine?”

I, for the first time, just visited the Stalinesque board you cited and it would have been humourous if the thread was not so serious.

The utter censorship of opposing views and their self-righteous support and approval of mr. Polanski had me in a snit.

It was as if there was an internet in the Orwell 1984 future and the party was controlling it, full of thought-crime for those opposing their warped sense of morality and doublethink to justify and balance their position.

I would not waste the pounding of the keyboard on that board, nor do I expect to be going back anytime soon.

Boards like that are what the present Administration may have in mind in controlling the internet.

I truly hope Mr Polansky does not get rewarded for fleeing justice.

The board also reminded me of a term that then VP Spiro Agnew once called like-minded people of their ilk, ie, “an elite corps of effetet snobs”.

Whats sad is this matter should have been delt with 30 years ago,the victim now just wants to get past this(you see the judge and Lawyers really didnt want to look bad) the victim is not for charging him,she has stated this many times however…as a person I still see that a crime was commited, even if it was 30 years ago…there must be a punishment.Great director but a pedi,I could give a sh*t what Mortisha thinks.

“I know it wasn’t rape-rape. It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape. He went to jail and and when they let him out he was like ‘You know what, this guy’s going to give me a hundred years in jail I’m not staying,’ so that’s why he left.”

It wasn’t rape-rape…it was a 13 year old child…wonder if she would say that if her child was given drugs, alcohol and sexually assaulted at the age of 13?

This is a prime example of the nature of their “concern” for the children of this planet. ACORN and sex trafficing minors from Central America and now the liberals wringing their hands because a sex predator is nearing the justice put upon him and Whoopi’s reaction that, at 13 years of age, it wasn’t “rape-rape”.

Funny how they expose their true feelings.

I don’t care what unfortunate situations that child experienced prior to Polanski, Mr Polanski had no right to abuse her further.

It seems that Mr. Polanski will be given a heroes welcome not unlike the terrorist that landed in Libya. WTF is about all I can say.

#18. You are absolutely right. Hollywood commies may hold a parade to honor this pedophile. But there is a precident for this. Remember Woody Allen? He allegedly molested Mia Farrow’s like 4 year old daughter and then was taking pictures of her like 12 year old daughter in the nude who he eventually married. And none of this has stopped the commie media from its adoration of him.

    20. Miss-Underestimated on September 30th, 2009 2:52 pm

Boycott Hollywood. These creeps prey on young children. The fact is these creeps can’t get it on with a real adult, because they have “littlepeepeeanddementedbrain” syndrome!

Hollywood is trying to bail this sick monster out. Find out who it is and boycott their movies.
