You nailed it head on Dana.

Network news is a thing if the past … Cable News and the Internet is the present and the future.

I find it rather revealing that there is no new talent in network news. They have to bring in a 63 year old to fill the position of a person retiring?

Is is ABC News or AARP News? ;)

Charlie Gibson more than filled the shoes of Peter Jennings and I was a great fan of P J. I know we all must “hang it up” at some point in our lives even though others may have higher asperations for us. I truly admire and respect Charlie as a top newsman and I wish him all the best in whatever his future endeavors might entail. Diane Sawyer has some “big shoes to fill” but no doubt she will do an outstanding job as Charlie’s replacement. ABC news is the best!!

Charlie Gibson came into our living rooms and delivered the news good or bad with a human touch and dignity. He is well respected with everyone I know. He does not convey his personal judgement on the issues and topics he reports on. I personally felt he spoke from his heart and conveyed that to all that tuned in. What a real loss for all of us to not hear that soft spoken man in the year 2010. All the best wishes to him and a big thanks for changing our lives.

Charlie Gibson is the best. I watched GMA when he was there and came to respect him as honest and as unbiased as anyone can be when we know each of us has opinions. He was very much a gentleman and a honest commentator. He actually replaced Bob Woodard at the evening news. Bob was there until he was injured in Iraq. It was not very long but he took over after PJ. Charlie came after Bob’s injuries prevented him from returning. I think Charlie wanted the job orginally (replaceing PJ), but ABC chose Bob, who also did a good job, but was younger. I nver heard Charlie express any negative reaction publicly concerning ABC choice. Charlie brought the advantage of life experiences and regarless of what our society thinks age bring a prespective that can be gained no other way. Integrity does matter, note wall street, decision made today do have reprecussions. Great job Charlie we will miss you. By the way Diane Sawyer will do a great job. She may be a southern lady but she is very savvy and professional with the heart of a lion. I hate to see her leave GMA her personality set the tone for the story of the day. I don’t know who will take place but it won’t be easy because so many people consider GMA family. With Robin’s leadership whoever comes on will have the chance to do well. Congratulation Charlies on your retirement, Diane and Robin on your new jobs. GCrouch
