In the Osterhoudt family from Twin Falls, Idaho, the apple did not fall far from the tree.
43 year old Franklin Ward Osterhoudt and his 20 year-old son, Franklin Scott Osterhoudt, are both being held in jail having been arrested on separate rape charges. Here is a gene pool that authorities may want to make sure never reproduces again.
The elder Osterhoudt faces five counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16, one count of incest and one count of rape stemming from allegations involving a family member between 2002 and 2006. He was arrested in Nogales, Ariz., and has pleaded not guilty.
His son faces two counts of statutory rape for two incidents involving a 15-year-old girl.
The court on Monday entered a not guilty plea for Osterhoudt when he was arraigned on the charges. He has a status hearing set for Sept. 28, 2009 and is being held on $1,000,000 bond at the Twin Falls County Jail.
A Buhl man wanted by police for more than two years appeared this week in a Twin Falls courtroom to face allegations of incest, rape and lewd and lascivious conduct against a child family member, after authorities said he was arrested near the Mexican border in Arizona last month.
A grand jury indicted Franklin Ward Osterhoudt, 43, on March 21, 2007, for five counts of lewd conduct with a minor under 16, along with incest and rape against the child.
One can only think of the Neil Young song, “Old Man,” and think this is hardly what was intended by the lyrics.

Say goodbye to “innocent until proven guilty” and the freedoms our forefathers gave their lives to enact and protect!
Posting picture, name, etc. on “allegations” as facts? There are clearly two sides to this story, yet the young man is singled out by the media, which will “try him in the court of public opinion with only one side of the story regardless of the ultimate outcome.
I am not condoning the “ALLEDGED” activity, but Americans are giving away most every constitutional right under the current paranoia around “Statutory; consensual” sexual activity prosecutions. The young man deserves his day in an unbiased court, not the court of public opinion resulting from one-sided media articles and the inevitable reader comments.
Stop the RSO as it relates to consensual sexual activity and abandoning the foundation of our constitution insanity!! Innocent until proven guilty.
Oh in response to James Regal, You bet there are two sides of the story. You should do some research before you start your bleeding heart theory. His Father did molest my 6 year old daugher when he was 20. He did some time. Get a grip you bleeding heart.

When this happens to a child you take her life, i think that the life of these two freaks… waste of space, i think these men should be sentenced to life in prison, or given lethal injections , neither one of these men deserve another breath of air, God will give them justice their day will come… straight to hell for them
just because you see something on the t.v. or you read it in a newspaper or online doesn’t mean it is true…. sometimes the courts just believe the wrong people and the innocent ones have to take the blame!!! not all people are as bad as the media says they are.
Both were convicted. Just yesterday the father was sentenced to life, mandatory 25 years. Yahoo
let me speak for myself. I was 19 and was friends with a 15 year old girl. I was wrong to do so but i had sex with her and it was consensual. Even though we were 19 and 15 and it was consensual, it was wrong for me to do that!
My father was charged with sex crimes against my own sister when i was 17. I had no idea that this was happening to my sister and find it unbelievable because i never saw anything unusual in our home. I was trying to become independant at the time and get a life when one day while i was with my friends, I was told my father was charged with these crimes. I was taken from my home and put into protective child services and into foster care and my family was not allowed to have any contact with me except for my sister and I supported her. My mom got custody of my sister and me and we moved to New Zealand. I came back to The States after I turned 18 because I was home sick. I tried to get away from Twin Falls because of the hurtful things I was hearing about myself because people’s beliefs of my father. Why do people say “like Father Like Son.” I want to follow in my mom’s footsteps! She is a civil engineer and became very successful. She is my hero! and People that know my dad and me will tell you that I am nothing like my dad.
Today my sister and I have a great loving relationship. I talk to her all the time and she’ll tell everyone herself that I am nothing like my dad. So, no, it’s not fair to say, “Like father Like Son.” If that is true then all you moms out there better never expect your sons to be like you. In fact, why do you even try to teach them anything if they’re just going to be like their father no matter what.
As a stupid punk teenager, I wanted to be like all my friends. I didn’t even know what I wanted in life or who I truely was. I am 26 years old now and have changed so much. I wish I could be judged by who I truely am by you meeting me yourself and deciding, and not judging me based on what sells on TV.
I understand the reasons that I was wrong when I was 19. No 15 year old child should be touched sexually by anyone! I am sorry for what I did! I am ashamed of the reputation that I have just for being my father’s son. My sister and I were both just children when these crimes were committed by our father.
And by the way, I was not convicted of a sex crime.
