Back to the Future: 2012 Presidential Race has Barack Obama and Mitt Romney Tied at 45%

Barack Obama, you’ve come a long way baby in six short months. Talk about a poll that shows the American attitude and feelings of buyer’s remorse.

Obama was touted as The Chosen One, he was the Obamamessiah, he was the man of Change, the man of Yes we can … Now he looks like a one term neutered President who the American people have lost confidence in.

Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney, Yes He Could Have and Will …

How on earth can a 6 month sitting President be behind in a hypothetical 2012 Presidential match up? Maybe the MSM would like to provide some rose-colored spin? The fact of the matter is that Barack Obama’s first 6 months has been a disaster. Never have we seen the likes of such a free-fall as Obama. Then again, we have never had a US President ever try to spread Socialism and big government control in America under the guise of economic stimulus.

Although polls like this are way too premature, the fact that The Chosen One is tied with Mitt Romney speaks volumes to the free fall that Obama has had in the polls and America’s disenchantment with the Obamamessiah. According to a recent Rasmussen poll, if the 2012 presidential election were held today, President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney would be all tied up at 45% each.

One thing is for certain and the American public should have paid attention during the last election. Mitt Romney was the only candidate who could have handled the economic issues that faced the country. Maybe America will actually pay attention in 2012 as opposed to fawning over a social experiment, words and a teleprompter.

What a difference a couple of months of socialism makes. It was just last November, Obama defeated Republican presidential nominee John McCain by a 53% to 46% margin.

What might be even more eye opening and a sign of just how weak Obama has become is that in the same poll Obama only beats Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, by six points, 48% to 42%. This after Obama, his minions, the media and Democrats and their operatives have had on all out full court press against Palin. Only six points? Maybe the so-called pundits would like to reevaluate their thoughts that Sarah is finished politically?

As stated at Hot Air and agreed with, this poll says more about the failings of Obama than it does about the other candidates. The Obama Presidency might be the shortest one in US history. The publics loss of faith in Obama to handle the economy and health care is a kin to a British Prime Ministers vote of no confidence in the Parliament.

Wait! Did you say Obama beat McCain by a 56% to 43% margin? Well I’ll be dipped. According to all the left wing nuts, Obama won by a landslide. Go figure.

What you wanna bet that it would be the other way around now?

    2. twolf on July 21st, 2009 12:36 pm

Romney? I thought Palin was the 2012 one to beat?

    3. PlatinumSkye on July 21st, 2009 12:50 pm

Actually Michelle it was Obama 52% to McCain 45%. That ain’t a landslide. 2012 however appears to be a landslide.

However I think you may have a different Presidental Contender from the Democrat side rather than Obama in 2012.

    4. Scott on July 21st, 2009 12:51 pm

Reagan won in a landslide; Obama did NOT!

      twolf – go tbag somebody.

Romney can fix ‘things.’ He might offer Obama a tip or two for fixing economies, businesses, etc…He’s DONE it!

    5. Jack Hammer on July 21st, 2009 3:02 pm

Do you morons understand whoever is in the White House is going to suck. Wow Scott, you sound like a real smart and mature human being.

    6. twolf on July 21st, 2009 3:41 pm

Scott…I would but you like it too much..not fun anymore

    7. david r on July 21st, 2009 4:53 pm

Let’s watch the liberal attack dogs start going after Romney now.

    8. yoyo muffintop on July 21st, 2009 5:56 pm

      In 2000 it was:
      48% Al Gore
      47% George Bush

Who won that election #1 & #3? Lol.

Electoral votes determine who is the President….and Obama won in a landslide (365 to 173).

    9. yoyo muffintop on July 21st, 2009 7:01 pm

#7 – The base of the republican party, evangelical christians, will tear Romney to shreds. Evangelicals believe mormonism is a cult – just ask James Dobson and Focus on the Family.

Liberals won’t have to do anything but sit back and watch.

    10. St Stephen on July 21st, 2009 7:39 pm

      @8 yoyo

You are right. Total popular vote, while nice, mean exactly zilch in the United States Presidential elections.

Electoral votes name presidents, and it does not appear likely to change anytime soon.

That being said, however, I like the way things have been shaping up re Gov Mitt Romney, and Sarah Palin IS a strong and positive voice for the American people as well, tbags notwithstanding.

    11. Michelle Smith on July 21st, 2009 8:53 pm

Hey YoYo we are talking about how Americans feel about the candidates and the current president not electoral votes. DUH!

So 52% voted Obama & 43% voted McCain (not a landslide) Obama’s popularity is falling fast.

    12. JustaMom on July 21st, 2009 10:11 pm

      Ron Paul 2012!!

    13. yoyo muffintop on July 21st, 2009 10:35 pm

      #11 – That’s not what you wrote.
      Reread post #1.

Really Michelle, you weren’t talking about “winning” but instead you were talking about “feeling” in post #1? Really Michelle?

Here, I’ll post it again for you Michelle:
“Wait! Did you say Obama beat McCain by a 56% to 43% margin? Well I’ll be dipped. According to all the left wing nuts, Obama won by a landslide. Go figure.”

Did I read “beat” and “won” in your post Michelle?

      Nice try though – haha.

    14. yoyo muffintop on July 21st, 2009 11:51 pm

      Oh, but I forgot #11 Michelle….you are a Birther.

And we all know what you Birthers are about Michelle – you are racists and xenophobes who have found an apparently socially acceptable way to express your rather transparent bigotry.

    15. SUPER DAVE on July 22nd, 2009 7:14 am

YOYO: i thought you were away doing a tampon commercial for obama.

    16. PA Mom on July 22nd, 2009 7:58 am

With jobs being so scarce, I decided to look on the internet to see in which state I could move to and find a good economy and job opportunity. The number one state was Alaska. This speaks tons for Sarah Palin’s qualifications. How come no one is reporting on this?

      I also like Mitt Romney.

President Obama is obviously not qualified.

    17. Dolf on July 22nd, 2009 8:47 am

      @16

It speaks for the natural recourses Alaska has, with the smaller population.

    18. Michelle Smith on July 22nd, 2009 9:10 am

YoYo There you go with your racist remarks again. Is that all you know? It’s really getting old. Everyone that disagrees with you is not a racist. But you seem to think everything is about race so it appears you have the problem with race and you know? I don’t have to defend myself to you. You are just an angry liberal that can’t accept that not everyone worships Obama.

And yes that was the percentage of the popular vote YoYo and that is what I was referring to not electoral votes. The percentage of popular votes that Obama won by. I know what I wrote, I don’t need you quoting me.

Trying to twist things again I see. You really need to get new material.

    19. Michelle Smith on July 22nd, 2009 9:11 am

#14 And you just think you know me….

    20. Scott on July 22nd, 2009 10:09 am

Michelle – don’t let the liberal illegal immigrant douche bag get you all riled up. He’s the typical liberal with his mouth wide open about this and that but if it really ever came down to it, he wouldn’t give up his paying job (although I doubt he even has a job) for some down on their luck brother from the hood.

I highly doubt he donates to charity or does charity work. I highly doubt he has a compassionate bone in his body like most liberals; i.e. attacking the Canadian woman who came here for CANCER surgery because she would have died waiting for that same treatment in a socialized medical country. There are THOUSANDS of these cases..THOUSANDS THOUSANDS!

He doesn’t know the definition of a landslide…LOOK AT REAGAN’s two wins…those are REAL LANDSLIDES….

It’s funny, the doofus uses whatever method; percentages or electoral votes, depending on however the argument goes, typical backboneLESS liberal attitude.

FACT is this…there are prominent and very powerful Dems who are behind in any ‘snapshot;’ including the POS Steny Hoyer in my districtl; who is five points behind and he has held a very powerful hold for MANY MANY years. It’s happening all over the country and the American people are finally realizing this guy is trying to basically push what we have left off a cliff; DESPITE what the liberal MSM will NOT report.

Nancy Pelosi is a LIAR when she says they have the ‘support’ of the American people. See, they still think the election validates something but when in fact; TIMES ARE A CHANGING and that validation no longer exists. Americans do NOT want the type of healthcare being offered. PERIOD.

CALL, WRITE, EMAIL your congress representative.

And if you think you can’t call, write or email anymore, do just that, call, write and email some more!

    21. Rusty Bridges on July 22nd, 2009 12:15 pm

Wow, could you imagine if Romney became president? The first person from the only group of people in the history of the US that had a federal extermination order placed on them to become president! That is a success story a heck of a lot more compelling than Sotomayors and Baracks combined.

Thats when the diversity of America would be complete!

    22. SUPER DAVE on July 22nd, 2009 1:25 pm

      #8 – Yo, YoYo. LOL

Bush won Florida in 2000. Your liberal media on the East coast determined that Gore had won after the polls closed after 7pm EST.

Meanwhile, on CST time, voters in the panhandle of Florida, in the central time zone, were still voting. Those votes are what won Florida for Bush. Nothing was stolen. LOL. It was a legitimate win. LOL. But your dopey left-wing press wanted a Gore win, forgetting all about the ‘other half’ of Florida. They know where the Florida panhandle is now, hey YOYO.

      LOL.

    24. Dolf on July 22nd, 2009 3:43 pm

#25 – How’s the booze taste from scott’s chalise newgirl? Lol.

#23 – who said Bush didn’t win the presidency in 2000 other than #1 & #3? Do you believe the popular vote determines who becomes president?

The popular vote doesn’t matter – just ask George Bush.

    27. Michelle Smith on July 22nd, 2009 10:47 pm

#26 I did not say George Bush didn’t win the presidency. More lies. I think you need to put the bottle down and read my post again. Where did I say that George Bush didn’t win the Presidency?

I see that this thread has deteriorated sufficently with unproductive name-calling.

Fact remains, however, that the Republican party may experience a resurgence in popularity as more potential candidates take this time to present the American public with a sane platform that is understandable and will fix the present system with fiscal conservative values that we have been missing for so long.

    30. Scott on July 23rd, 2009 7:23 am

Dolf – bite me. That’s a false statement. I’m proud to donate to charity. You don’t know a damn thing about me. My son had to go to Children’s Hospital for the first year of his life so I donate to them. People talk all the time about where they donate and how proud they are. I donate to the Jimmy V Foundation because I’ve have close people to me have cancer or die of cancer.

F off! It’s finally great to see others are piping up and telling this loser to go away!

NOBODY here cares what you have to say. You are NOT an American so you have know dog in the fight. And don’t give me this “global economy” bullshiZ!

I usually try not to ‘hate’ people but I borderline hate your stupid liberal non-informative, add nothing to the debate, CNN watching (*&(*&*(&)!

People like you, liberals, DISGUST me by trying to tell people how they SHOULD live their lives. For example your moronic statement that people that boast about donating usually dont….I NEVER said how much I donate nor did I boast about it. I just said I am proud to donate to charities FOR A PURPOSE!

You wouldn’t know about having compassion because you are souless person!

    31. new creature on July 23rd, 2009 2:31 pm

Firstly, let me say I am a christian conservative, who loves people. Even people who disagree with me. I have a dear friend who works on The Hill and is a liberal. I love our conversations because he seeks to hear me, and I him. We disagree, but there is productive dialog. And I truly respect him.

Secondly, I was drawn to this conversation because it focused on Mitt Romney. He was written off early in the game last time around because the pundits “assumed” christians would never vote for a Mormon. I also recall them writing off Huckabee because his name was silly. Nonetheless, they were right. The pundits, rather. Christians wouldn’t touch Romney with a ten foot pole—ignorantly. Romney and Huckabee both were powerful candidates. Each with flaws, but both more capable, with more experience than the current office holder.

The point being, christians MUST begin to operate shrewdly in the years ahead. And remember, He who is not against us, is for us. Mitt Romney shares our values even if he doesn’t share our litergy. The question isn’t “is he saved?”, the question is, “does he support our values?”. And the answer is a resounding YES! Take a look at mormon families, typically. They emphsize family, education, hard work, morality, personal responsibility, and being self-sufficient. Literally, EVERY mormon I know is a valuable, hard-working memeber of society, whether I agree with their book or not.

You don’t have to have a “C”hristian in the White House in order for christian values to be upheld. We can look at history for the proof in that puddin’. Certain modern presidents who need not be named claimed to be christian, but were morally bankrupt. Look at the fruit of a person, not the religious hat they wear.

    32. SUPER DAVE on July 23rd, 2009 3:33 pm

andrew: i see that we have a new racist from the democrat klan. get a job boy and serve your country. stop waiting on your free obama bucks, they’re worthless.
and yes, my trailer is one of those complete with brick and slab to boot. now go figure !
another little tree hugging punk trying to prove he is cool by voting for obama.probably was suckered into buying a pair of the obama payless shoes.
