How Many Lies will Pelosi Take Before She Gets to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pop or the truth on Waterboarding

The age old question has been, how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a Tootsie Pop. Nancy Pelosi is taking a page from that classic commercial when it comes to telling lies regarding her knowledge of waterbaording. By the way, the answer is three. By the way Nancy, how many lies does it take before you will get to to truth?

How many lies will Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi tell this week as to her knowledge of waterboarding and when she knew it. At some point she just needs to come clean, take her medicine and admit the obvious truth. Pelosi has made a non-issue into a 2010 midterm campaign issue. As referenced at Sundries Shack, it would appear that Nancy Pelosi is going for the “Lying hat Trick”. It would appear that Pelosi’s most recent attempt at a fabrication was, that she couldn’t object in 2003.

Nancy_Pelosi5

This woman is second in line of succession to be President

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi learned in early 2003 that the Bush administration was waterboarding terror detainees but didn’t protest directly out of respect for “appropriate” legislative channels, a person familiar with the situation said Monday…

But there’s no dispute that on Feb. 4, 2003 — five months after Pelosi’s September meeting — CIA officials briefed Pelosi aide Michael Sheehy and Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.), then the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, on the specific techniques that had been used on Zubaydah — including waterboarding.

Harman was so alarmed by what she had heard, she drafted a short letter to the CIA’s general counsel to express “profound” concerns with the tactic — going so far as to ask if waterboarding had been personally “approved by the president.”

According to the Pelosi confidant, Sheehy told Pelosi about the briefing — and later informed Pelosi, the newly elected minority leader, that Harman was drafting a protest letter. Pelosi told Sheehy to tell Harman that she agreed with the letter, the Pelosi insider said. But she did not ask to be listed as a signatory on the letter, the source said, and there is no reference to her in it.

So first Nancy Pelosi’s story was she knew nothing of waterboarding and that she had no knowledge of waterboarding and was never briefed, not a single time. Then the story changed to, well she knew that the Bush Administration thought it was legal and had not used it yet. Now we are told yet another whopper that Pelosi knew that waterboarding was being used in 2003 and did nothing about it.

So Pelosi’s position is now that she knew about waterboarding and did nothing about it? COWARD! If Pelosi had such a deep seated objection to waterboarding and torture, why did she stand up and object in 2003? Oh that’s tight, because she did so in order to respect “appropriate” channels.  Unbelievable. There is nothing worse that someone who does not act on their beliefs.  And this woman in second in line of Presidential succession.  How scary a concept is that!

UPDATE I: Now the CIA is America’s Enemy and out to get the Democrats

Democrats charged Tuesday that the CIA has released documents about congressional briefings on harsh interrogation techniques in order to deflect attention and blame away from itself.

“I think there is so much embarrassment in some quarters [of the CIA] that people are going to try to shift some of the responsibility to others — that’s what I think,” said Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee and was briefed on interrogation techniques five times between 2006 and 2007.

From Blue Crab Boulevard, Democrats: It’s Unfair When Our Whipping Boys Won’t Stay Whipped. By the way Nancy Pelosi, Don’t ask for investigations as it just might be you who is investigated. And such is now the case as the never ending spin from Pelosi has foreced Dems to looks ant what and when she knew as well.

UPDATE II: Congress and WaterboardingNancy Pelosi was an accomplice to ‘torture.’

Someone important appears not to be telling the truth about her knowledge of the CIA’s use of enhanced interrogation techniques (EITs). That someone is Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. The political persecution of Bush administration officials she has been pushing may now ensnare her.

Here’s what we know. On Sept. 4, 2002, less than a year after 9/11, the CIA briefed Rep. Porter Goss, then House Intelligence Committee chairman, and Mrs. Pelosi, then the committee’s ranking Democrat, on EITs including waterboarding. They were the first members of Congress to be informed.

She should be investigated and relieved of her Speaker duties. It’s bad enough we have to live with Obama breaking the bank of our children and softening national security to pre 9/11 days…scary! It’s bad enough if the unthinkable were to happen and Obama was assasinated, Joe Biden would be next in line as President…scary! Worse than all of those, if Obama and Biden, say were taken out at the hamburger joint, Pelosi would next in line as President?!? HOW SCARY IS THAT PROPOSITION? And people have nerve to talk about Sarah Palin? At least she has morals and can tell the truth!

I love the back-peddaling and twisting of the truth by Pelosi, TYPICAL LIBERAL DEMOCRAT and typical liberal attitude in this country!

BTW, would somebody shoot that butch Garafolo? How can say for certanity that the tea parties were racially motivated? How can she that with a straight face? Again…typical LIBERAL attitude. When they are threatened they go on the attack or try to take the attention of what they were actually about. She’s an ignorant nobody!

    2. Scott on May 12th, 2009 7:50 am

      THIS IS WHAT LIBERALS DO!

No sir they do not! They do not over an issue like this when it has created such a firestorm. No sir. I disagree.

And now they (the Dems) are questioning the authenticity of the docs released by their boy’s own intelligence chief. Unreal!

The only thing between her and us is a thin layer of Obowma.

    7. HOPE on May 12th, 2009 12:44 pm

      In 2003, Obama wasn’t an issue…

The scariest thing about this is that she knew about the torture of prisoners of war and did nothing to stop it ie. not enough backbone to stand up for what she knows is right.

Liberal or Conservative matters not. What matters is one’s character and the oath of their office to uphold the constitution… she failed miserably in this instance and with that look on her face, I wouldn’t trust her. One shouldn’t sell out their responsibility or moral standards for anyone.

This woman is a disgrace… imo.

First of all Hope, Water boarding a known terrorist who holds information that will save thousands of lives is not “torture of prisoners of war”. Water boarding is indeed a very unpleasant event. But then so is putting soldiers in a room with gas and making them take off their gas masks – what we do to our own soldiers in training.

Water boarding was used in THREE incidents against 3 known terrorists who then gave up information which helped the US save lives. You object to that?

Next, Nancy Pelosi is a liar and as far back as I can remember has always been a liar. She won’t allow investigations to go forward against her criminal Democrats in the House, and you want to believe anything this woman (I use the term lightly) has to say? It is scum like this that we need to remove from our government if we are to survive.

#7 HOPE – I do believe you are regaining consciousness.

    14. nurturer on May 12th, 2009 3:39 pm

Who gives a shit if it is called torture or waterboarding? If it works, use it. We’re only talking about preserving peoples lives. No big deal.

Does that White House have the moral courage to do the obvious – PROTECT THE COUNTRY AT ALL COSTS. If so, they’ll have to prove it and they haven’t done so thus far. In fact, they’re taking the side of the enemy when they remove the very instruments that provide this country with a victory over the enemy.

    15. NY;r on May 12th, 2009 5:48 pm

Bottom line the Dems are responsible for the mess that we are in now…Research back from 2006, when the dems took over congress…Enough said….

Bring on the waterboarding and any other kind of tactic to gain information!

    16. Susan on May 12th, 2009 5:49 pm

Man, that’s the scariest (sp?) damn picture I’ve ever seen in my life! Please remove it…I’ll have nightmares for days on end :-(

Paloser needs to fess up and admit she knew all about waterboarding being used as a tactic in Gitmo to get the terror detainees to talk. What a loser!

It’s a matter of perception. I sure wouldn’t want them to water board anyone from my country because they might hold some secrets. It’s always been considered inhumane. Practice what you preach…. remember? Besides, there are international rules against it. If we do the same as a terrorist, doesn’t that make us a terrorist, as well? I mean, where do you draw the line?

    21. Michelle Smith on May 12th, 2009 7:44 pm

@#17 Waterboarding is not the same as beheading a person, it is not the same as hijacking commercial jets and flying them into buildings killing thousands of people. Sometimes during war, you have to do things that some may feel are inhumane or torture or whatever you want to call it but war never is pretty and the enemy normally does not voluntarily give up information that would be critical to helping us, so how do you propose we get the terrorist to talk. You do realize that the waterboarding technique was only used on 3 known terrorist right? We did not torture prisoners of war, they were only detained. Waterboarding is by far more humane than burning to death or having your head sawed off. You need to understand the difference here and stop comparing waterboarding to terrorism. Why do you want to have so much sympathy for the terrorist? I don’t understand that. The information gained from the waterboarding saved many lives from other terrorist attacks and that is what is important.

    22. katablog.com on May 12th, 2009 8:50 pm

Hope darling, I put your name on it because you are the one making the stupid comments.

      >>>>sure wouldn’t want them to water board anyone from my country because they might hold some secrets. It’s always been considered inhumane.>>>>

Ah, so you would be happy with terrorists killing your parents, children, husband, family members as long as the USA doesn’t water board them to prevent it? Killing people is far more inhuman than making them very uncomfortable to give up information.

In your scenario we probably shouldn’t shoot at enemies either, because death is very inhuman. Perhaps you believe we should all just lay down and allow terrorists to annihilate us. Of course we don’t need terrorists to bother because O is doing that through our finances.

Heard about the cap & trade that’s about ready to be passed? Ready for your electric bills to skyrocket – like 4 times what your bills are now? Oh, that’s right, you don’t pay your own bills. Sorry.

You have every right to protect yourself!

However, tromping half way across the world
to protect someone’s oil field or to over-

held oil, is hardly my idea of protecting ‘yourself’.

      Like I said,
      I’m hoping for change…

      A little Independence.

      .

      Nite…

    24. Scott on May 13th, 2009 6:45 am

DOPE – more false charges without any proof of “protecting oil fields and shipping privately” – give me a break. get some real material instead of un-educated typical liberal talking points. You are boring us to death!

BTW, if you knew anything, terrorists are NOT protected under international law or in educated terms the Geneva Convention. Terrorists do NOT belong to a said country; we are NOT at war with a country. These people do NOT have the same rights given real POWs; although OVERALL they were treated well. Do the research. The Red Cross was there; doctors were present. You elitists forget that these people WANT to KILL US. They flew airplanes into buildings and killed thousands and they want to do it again. There are documents that show water boarding was not used as a primary method NOR really a secondary method but more a last resort method to SAVE LIVES, possibly your own or someone you love. When our intelligence AGENCIES got intel of a second wave of attacks and when the mastermind says “soon you will see” and regular methods aren’t working; such as “talking” to him in a normal manner, well….. And do NOT think for a second if Obama had SOLID intel that a terrorist attack was coming; he would authorize any technique necessary to save lives or he would lose his re-election bid without question. So NAIVE!

Let me guess, you are ones of these loons that think 9/11 was orchestrated by the Bush administration, right? Although this was all planned under Clinton’s watch?

BTW, there is talk of releasing the so-called non-threatening terrorists (LOL!) into our country and giving them WELFARE. Really? So you are saying you would be ok with YOUR tax dollars going to people who hate us and want to kill us?

      Dazed and Confused!

    25. Scott on May 13th, 2009 6:56 am

Oh and BTW, Obama said “NOBODY MAKING UNDER $250K will NOT see one penny of their taxes raised.” Did he not say that on numerous occassions? Now it’s $235K when taking into consideration deductions and write offs, blah blah blah. Why didn’t he explain this during his campaign? LIE! He raised the federal tax on cigarettes! Lower class people smoke more! He is getting ready to raise taxes on soda, beer and chips (LOL!)!

Another fact, the NON-PARTISAN CBO has stated that Obama plan to tax $250K and above, OPPS, I mean $235K and above will only raise $600B over 10 years. He is proposing $3.4 TRILLION next fiscal year alone; AND the CBO says that number is actually on the LOW end of what it will actually cost.

A little appropriations lesson for you, all these new programs he is implemeting are written permanently into the legislation and budgeted for years to come, meaning the budget EACH year will be in the TRILLIONS. Do the math!

The threshold will no doubt be lowered and affect the middle class; as it will also with all these ridiculous taxes on beer, soda, and cigs.

    26. SUPER DAVE on May 13th, 2009 7:47 am

Hey Hope, if we went to Iraq for oil – where is it? These dudes held in Gitmo are not just taken off the street of Bagdad you know.

Independence? Where are you going to get that? Surely you don’t think that the Pres. that is meddling in banks’ operations and businesses is going to give you independence! Changing the laws of bankruptcy in mid-stream for secured creditors – does that sound like independence? Please give us just ONE instance where O has improved the “independence” of Americans in his 104 days.

    29. katablog.com on May 13th, 2009 9:00 am

btw Hope, I want you to understand that I say “Hope = hopeless” not towards you personally but rather toward trying to discuss something with you. You continue to repeat the same lies put out by the O administration in defense of everything we say – even though there are tons of reliable sources out there that totally refute what they say.

It’s okay to disagree, but you need real facts to back up your points instead of mantras delivered off the O site.

Liberals have kept that mantra “we went to Iraq for oil” up for 8 years yet there is not one single fact to back it up. We don’t have any more oil, we don’t even get our oil from Iraq.

Independence? Please! Everything O has done since taking office has deprived Americans of more and more freedom. It’s a dictatorial administration that threatens and attacks anyone who disagrees with it – to the point they even go after a radio talk show host (an American whom O swore to protect and defend). Our freedoms have been curtailed way beyond Bush listening into a few little phone calls from overseas. They are eroded day by day but you simple refuse to see.

OMG! Hope get a clue. You can’t seriously believe that Oil is the reason for the waterboarding in Gitmo per your post “However, tromping half way across the world
to protect someone’s oil field or to over-
see the drilling and shipping of privately
held oil, is hardly my idea of protecting ‘yourself’.”

Seriously Hope you can do better than that.

Do you not understand that those people are terrorists? Do you not understand that they consider us the enemy and will stop at nothing to destroy us? No, I’m not saying all Muslim people are terrorist but there are people who don’t like us and want us dead. Do you get it? DEAD How would you expect it to be handled? Haven’t you noticed that we haven’t had any more attacks since 9/11/01? Do you think that is coincidence? Please open your eyes and see what’s happening and put your hate for Bush aside and realize the truth.

    33. Scott on May 13th, 2009 10:23 am

dolf – get a clue. I highly doubt they are grateful. Are you that naive, aloof, you pick the word? Seriously. Many of them have gone back to being terrorists. The MAJORITY still in Gitmo are the SERIOUS offenders, those that have we solid intel on, those that were plucked from terrorists training facilities and sites. Dude, you really have zero idea of what you are talking about. All you do is recite CNN left wing mantra.

BTW, how are you so sure? I highly doubt you would be neighborly if one of these thugs lived next door to you? Wait, you live over in la-la land and don’t live here so it wouldn’t be your tax dollars paying for their welfare. Your so-called neutral country does not want them. Geez, why is that?

Again, you seem to be sure of so much, yet you produce nothing but ten word responses that don’t say anything….

    34. katablog.com on May 13th, 2009 12:00 pm

#33 I heard the figure 30% of those released have gone back to their terrorist groups.

Once again, I will remind people that those in Gitmo were not simply people of a specific descent who were found walking down the street. At best you could say those gathered up were in the wrong place at the wrong time because they were picked up on the battle field or because of their associations with terrorists and terrorist camps.

i draw the line at allowing american men, women, and children being murdered because i don’t want to dirty my hands. in fact, i’d draw the line at letting one innocent person from anywhere be killed if i could save the innocent by waterboarding a terrorist i thought had information that would save the innocent. i just cannot see where there is any question about right or wrong here. waterboarding is not torture, the way it’s done here. it’s not even the worst hazing i’ve ever seen.
