Remember This … Obama Lecturing McCain on Spending During Campaign … White House Now Sees Higher Deficits Than Expected

The Audacity of Obama’s Spending.

Remember during the Presidential Election of 2008 when candidate Barack Obama lectured Senator John McCain on spending? If not, refresh your memory. These words came from the mouth of the many who will quadrupled the national debt this year. Obama dared lecture anyone on the last 8 years of spending? During the election Obama portrayed spending as a bad thing. Was this the change you voted for?

Video H/T: Gateway Pundit

Barack Obama to John McCain:

“John, its been your President that you say you say you’ve agreed with 90% of the time, that presided over this increase in spending, this orgy of spending and enormous deficits and you voted for almost all of his budgets, so to stand here after 8 years and say you’re gonna lead on controlling spending…I think is kinda hard to swallow”

Actually, what is hard to swallow is the fact that the Democrats are borrowing nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year, exploding the record federal deficit past $1.8 trillion under new White House estimates. More at The Gateway Pundit of the massive budget deficit created by democrats this year.

Budget office figures released Monday would add $89 billion to the 2009 red ink — increasing it to more than four times last year’s all-time high as the government hands out billions more than expected for people who have lost jobs and takes in less tax revenue from people and companies making less money.

The unprecedented deficit figures flow from the deep recession, the Wall Street bailout and the cost of President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus bill — as well as a seemingly embedded structural imbalance between what the government spends and what it takes in.

As the economy performs worse than expected, the deficit for the 2010 budget year beginning in October will worsen by $87 billion to $1.3 trillion, the White House says. The deterioration reflects lower tax revenues and higher costs for bank failures, unemployment benefits and food stamps.

      .

But, we’ve swallowed it… all of it. Why? To get it behind us. The Bush Administrations (both of them) ran up deficits that are beyond our imagination. Thank God, it’s over and His patience has prevailed. Now, we need work… hard work rebuilding a collapsed economy.

      Katablog says it’s impossible…

Michelle says we’re childish dreamers ‘finger painting’ a better future…

Susan says whatever the other two say…

But, I haven’t given up. How could anyone do that when they look into the eyes of our children and grand-children and see that THEIR possibilities are endless?

    2. Scared Monkeys on May 11th, 2009 11:29 pm

at this point you cannot even compare the deficits ran up by GWB & Obama.

There was some irresponsible spending on the part of Bush, however, Obama has taken it to a level that this country has never seen. The interest on this spending will be more than other President’s actual spending.

He has put our children and future in debt.

    3. HOPE on May 12th, 2009 12:42 am

Maybe ALL those bail-outs suggested by the Bush Administration should have been made before Obama took office. Or better yet, Bush should have done the accounting on the amount of money that was being spent on his father’s personal vendetta against Iraq and we could have saved ourselves 20 billion dollars a month on protecting Bush’s interest and spent that money with our childrens’ interest at heart, building their future instead of destroying it. Sixteen years of oil induced politics have amounted to nothing but one BIG hole in the ground that has sucked us all dry.

If this is not the time for alternative energy, then, when?

    4. Dolf on May 12th, 2009 1:39 am

      he had no choice.

#4 – yeah ok…you have no idea what you are talking about. he had a choice. he had a choice not to quadruple Bush’s deficit in his first 100 days. btw, not working, despite stimulus funds, states need more money…geez why is that…

DOPE – funny how you skip right over the 8 years under Clinton who let the housing market go nuts; the main cause of this recession… and please do not talk about our children; how can you look your children in the eyes KNOWING their future has been drained by Obama’s out of control spending!

    7. SUPER DAVE on May 12th, 2009 7:20 am

democrats have to realize that always playing the poor victim excuse will run it’s course and they will need a new excuse for the destruction they have caused our country.

    8. Dolf on May 12th, 2009 8:56 am

      nice choice scottie

      a) throw more money at the problem (on top of what the Bush admin. already gave)
      b) let it crash (and also loose the money the Bush admin already gave)

you are even more lost then a Bush goverment budget

    9. Dolf on May 12th, 2009 9:01 am

I am not going to explain what would happen if he let it crash, even in your world that must be clear.

Once again you speak from your orifice- your a$$!

Do you even have a clue?

Throwing more money at the problem has NEVER worked…EVER! You don’t throw more money at problems like this…economic history proves that…

The stock market was not going to crash, no matter how much you watch CNN. You have revisionist history. If it was going to crash then why did Obama himself the stock market wasn’t as bad as he initially thought despite the SPENDULUS.

You are too stupid. We have already LOST money from Obama’s stimulus. Do your research. The billions given to Chrysler…GONE! The billions given to GM…GONE! The billions gone to many states, stated today, many need more….GONE!

      You need a clue!

Stay current in your own problems…stay out of OURS!

    12. HOPE on May 12th, 2009 12:30 pm

      Scott?

Do you have to be so cruel? Dolf’s right… he didn’t have a choice. The ones that you should be upset with are Chrysler and G.M. if they were underhanded in accepting and spending their portion of the stimulus package.

I don’t want to argue about it, just something to think about.

    13. Scott on May 12th, 2009 1:46 pm

Dolf is NOT right. He had a choice. He a choice to do what the people wanted and that was NO STIMULUS, NO MORE SPENDING OF OUR TAX DOLLARS to waste, companies like GM and Chrysler. See you people are confused, just because he is a popular president does NOT mean his policies are…the polls showed a great majority didn’t want the TRILLIONS in spending!

OMG, now we are to blame these companies for taking funds the government basically MADE them take, remember what Obama said, “Bankruptcy was NOT an option.” Then all of a sudden bankruptcy was an option?

I guess we should be upset with our states who basically were told they were going to take the stimulus money and now they’ve run out of money again…when does it stop? How is going to pay for all this? The million dollar question that still nobody in his administration has answered.

The other thing you do not understand is that GM which owns NBC (ahem) is in bed with the White House. It is widely known they are surviving on the under the table secret that they will be getting the majority if not all of green contracts.

Not to mention, the mafioso tactics used against Chrysler, per one of Chrysler’s investors lawyers.

How do you know they had no other choice?

I’ve thought about it plenty. I think about it everyday when I look at my children playing innocently; without a clue, their current President has mortgaged their future!

    14. katablog.com on May 12th, 2009 3:03 pm

Hope: buy a clue girl! You are singing O’s song without a thought of your own. Do you understand that while you rail about the deficit that O inherited, your man has increased that deficit by 4 times as much in a mere 103 days! Do you get that? Have you any comprehension what that means. Do you understand the term “trillion”?

Hope – Chrysler and GM didn’t get any of the “stimulus package” – they got straight handouts from the US Taxpayer! Girl! Brighten up. You have no understanding about the subjects you try to defend.

Do you understand the bogus stimulus and who it went to? Do you know for example that the chart that O produced showing what unemployment figures would be IF we did not pass the stimulus are now the unemployment figures we are at and now O even admits that these numbers will go higher (not lower like you were told if the stimulus passed) and the economic growth will go DOWN.

I swear dolf and hope are absolute shills for O no matter how stupid his actions are. They twist and turn and repeat O’s talking points with absolutely no clue how ridiculous they sound since anyone with a brain can figure out what is really happening.

You can’t scream at your child for running up a $1,000 credit card debt and then make it all better by turning that debt into $4,000! Do you get that?

    15. katablog.com on May 12th, 2009 3:07 pm

I apologize for sounding off so intense on dolf and hope, but my blood pressure goes sky high when I hear people repeat mindless phrases without any clue of what they are saying, all in defense of a person.

Everyone needs to read and read some more; read and listen to both sides of the story, dig out the truth. Stop running to O.com and just repeating whatever they tell you. Think

    16. Michelle Smith on May 12th, 2009 3:08 pm

Well if Chrysler and GM mismanaged in the first place why give them anything it only prolonged the inevitable (Bankruptcy) That was more money that didn’t need to be spent. Guess what? If I overspend each paycheck and don’t pay my bills do I get a bail out? NOPE It’s called managing your money which some can’t seem to grasp so let’s take the money from the hard working middle-class families and give it to the Automakers & Banks & Insurance companies who are the cause of the problem in the first place. Makes sense right?

If your house is on fire, do you continue to pour gas on it? NO So why keep throwing money in the pit? Doesn’t make any sense. Who do you think is going to pay back all this money? The taxpayers and our children and our grandchildren that aren’t even born yet.

      It’s just crazy.

He certainly had a choice, don’t think anybody held a gun to his head and said “Give them money or else.”

    17. Maggie on May 12th, 2009 4:28 pm

We handed the banks almost a trillion dollars with no accountability.. and bonuses, parties.. noone going in from the govt taking over the banks and running them or telling them bankruptcy. We give the car companies far less money and the govt. moves in and takes over…firing people, telling them when to sit and stand or else.. Chrysler in bankruptcy has made a big impact where I live..over 900 people laid off in the last week, where many are already laid off.

Like I said it wasn’t just the car bosses, Govt. has put so many demands on the car industry on things a car has to have on it. People used to be able to work on their own cars.. plus taxes and more taxes. Dif rules for the foreign car companies who come here to open businesses. I am quite tired of watching business being outsourced to other countries and leaving us all the time. Manufacturing has been the backbone of America for over 100 years. My part of the world, has been hit hard by all these job losses. Highest unemployed in 25 years. Now we are getting down to where only made here is prostitutes.

As for all the spending, that’s all govt does ..and come up with new taxes to take care of any raise you may get. Saw Evan Bayh on tv one night.. He didn’t vote yes for the last stimulus.. He said sooner or later….someone has to pay for all of this..and people don’t understand that yet.

Hope, you are clueless. Your song needs new words that actually make sense. Get out of fairy land, get a job and find out what the real world is like.

Maggie: The answer is not to give the car companies as much as the banks and insurance companies. The answer is to stop, stop, stop handing out money. The US Government is bankrupt. It has to print new money to give handouts because it’s spending more than it has. You and I, the taxpayer, are going to have to pay this money back someday.

The answer is for the government to stay out of business, run the government on the money it has, and make priorities instead of trying to pass everything on the liberals wish list at the expense of ruining our country.

The answer also lies with telling the truth. Most every politician is lying through their teeth right now. There is no 95% tax cut. There is no transparency, there is no “for the little people”, there is no change in Washington and there is very little hope left for America.

    21. HOPE on May 12th, 2009 9:18 pm

      Well Gollllllllly, Miss katablog…

I thought you’d like that one.

Ruining your Country is thinking like a Cowboy and drilling for Oil. Having imagination is using energy with a renewable resource.

I could care less about liberals or anything else. But, I’m telling you: We need to grow WHEAT and use WIND and WATER as an energy source to make ELECTRICITY. You want to argue about things that make no sense to me. I’m retarded… remember?

Maybe I should write for Obama… that’d be a great job. Thing is: I, rarely, buck someone in authority unless they make a really bad move. I don’t own a plane, but if I did, I’d want to fly over the Statue of Liberty and do a lot of things… and there are alot of things that need to get started and I’m sure alternative energy is going to be on the top of the list.

      Free the SLAVES!

      Katablog, no sweat.
we are all pissed about this.

everytime its the taxpayers that can fix the problems.

scott, stockmarkets don’t mean shit, they got us in trouble the first place (managers looking for short term gain). You didn’t learn things from the past?
and if you think it wouldn’t have crashed…..

and I also think that 1 of the carbuilders should go down

Hope: think Green? And you want to fly planes over that Statute of Liberty? That’s not green! Plus apparently you don’t care about scaring people who went through hell on 911.

Al Gore, Mr. Green himself, uses more energy than entire towns and he wants to lecture us. Are you aware how much he has invested in you and I “being green” hint: your green means Al Gore’s bank account grows! There simply isn’t reliable scientific proof that “green” will do anything but cost taxpayers a TON of money. We are in a recession. Now is the time to chose that which will end the recession, not ways to further hamper the economy.

We grow wheat in KS you know. Problem is that the US government pays people not to grow wheat and then attacks Cheerios for extolling the virtue of oats!

Wind farms are fine, but proven to be ineffective since they use more resources than they produce. Are you aware of that?

    26. Scott on May 13th, 2009 9:53 am

DOPE – Green means more spending….idiots! Do people NOT understand how much it costs to go green then do they know how much it costs to stay green? It’s OUTRAGEOUS! Won’t work.

No matter what you think; OIL is here to stay.

And you keep throwing out this OLD and TIRED and DISPROVEN oil crap…it didn’t stick in the beginning of the IRAQ War, it didn’t stick in the middle and it’s not sticking now. The liberal LEFT leaning MSM would be all over it if true, which the world NOW knows is not!

You need to buy a vowel to get a clue!

    27. Dolf on May 13th, 2009 3:41 pm

      a) Gore is kinda….full of shit.
      b) scott is right, green is costing to much now, hopefully in the future its more efficient

no matter what you think…WE ARE GOING TO RUN OUT OF OIL

and a fyi…that drill drill drill mantra only has effect after 10 years (oil platformbuilders have a backlog)
