The media was gushing over the weekend with the advent of the new “First Puppy” to the Obama White House. Where was Woodward & Bernstein to break the story? Check out the “First Puppy” Bo and his not so publicized side kick “Porky” the pork barrel pig. Bo? BO or is it BHO?

Thankfully, Navy Seals rescued American Captain Richard Phillips from his hostage situation from Somali pirates. This caused the media to actually cover real news stories. Richard Phillips humbly states that he was just a byline and the SEAL’s were the heroes. Actually, you are both heroes. Any person who would sacrifice them self for others is a hero in my book.

Unreal, Baby Brides … Saudi Judge Refuses to Annul 8 Year Old Girl’s Arranged Marriage by Father to Settle a Debt

So women want to complain in America that it’s a man’s world, huh? Try living in Saudi Arabia or pretty much any Islamic country where dogs might have more rights and preferential treatment than woman. Saudi activists have likened child marriages to slavery. Well maybe because it is. In Saudi Arabia … Woman have come a long way baby, NOT!!!

Call it marriage, Islamic style. Saudi marriage officiant Dr. Ahmad al-Mu’bi told Lebanese television viewers last week that it’s permissible for girls as young as 1 to marry — as long as sex is postponed. Guess who decides the appropriate age for sex?

A Saudi judge has refused for the second time to grant an annulment of a marriage between an 8 year old girl and a 47 year old man. Yes, you read that correctly. The judge rejected a petition from the girl’s mother, who was seeking a divorce for her daughter. Can anyone imagine a world where a marriage of an 8 year old is ruled legal?

Think that is bad? It actually gets worse, if possible. The 8 year old girl’s other initial petition to the court has denied on a technicality. Since the mother is separated from the girl’s father and is not the legal guardian, the mom had no standing to represent the 8 year old. Makes some sense until this bit of information. The father, the legal guardian, is the one arranged the marriage to settle a debt with a fried. GOOD GRIEF!!! So what is an 8 year old girl worth? It appears 30,000 riyals or US$8,000.

BREAKING: American Capt. Richard Phillips Rescued … Pirates Dead in Davy Jones Locker

FREED!!!

It is being reported at CNN, that the American Captain  Richard Phillips  of the Maersk Alabama who has been held hostage by Somali pirates since Wednesday has been freed. It is also being reported that 3 of the 4 pirates have been killed and will be residing in Davy Jones’ locker. The other pirate is in custody.

The captain of the Maersk Alabama was freed Sunday after being held captive since Wednesday by pirates off the coast of Somalia, a senior U.S. official with knowledge of the situation told CNN.

 The official said Capt. Richard Phillips is uninjured and in good condition, and that three of the four pirates were killed. The fourth pirate is in custody. Phillips was taken aboard the USS Bainbridge, a nearby naval warship.

UPDATE I: As reported at MSNBC, there was a swift firefight off the Somali coast on Sunday. Hostage Richard Phillips was not hurt; however, 3 pirates were killed and one was taken into custody. Richard Phillips was safely transported to a Navy warship nearby.

The Obama’s have a new puppy. Yes, that is correct. Breaking news from DC is that there is a new “First Dog,” a 6 month old Portuguese water dog that the Obama girls are naming Bo.

The little guy is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog given to the Obama girls as a gift by that Portuguese water dog-lovin’ senator himself, Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. The girls named it Bo — and let it be noted that you learned that here first. Malia and Sasha chose the name, because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because first lady Michelle Obama’s father was nicknamed Diddley, a source said. (Get it? Bo . . . Diddley?)

And yes, a name has finally been announced as the tense stand off has come to an end. I am a bit surprised that the Obama’s did not burn the paper votes of the dog’s name in the fireplace to create “white smoke” to signify a name has been agreed on. I make the Papal white smoke voting reference as Don Surber reports, an Italian newspaper stated that the pope had nixed the appointment of Princess Caroline, Caroline Kennedy, as ambassador to the Vatican.

Hmm … Bo Diddley, how appropriate. This might just be a commentary on Barack Obama and his policies as he appears that he “does not know Diddley” either. Just an addition as I was surfing the web. It would appear that Tiger Hawk has the same sense of humor as Scared Monkeys.

I will second Jammie Wearing Fool’s comment … “Good Grief!!!”. Yes, Woodward and Bernstein must be proud this morning of this fine bit of investigative journalism. A hat tip to Wake Up America for getting it right, yes this is why newspapers are bleeding money.

This story might actually be palpable if America was not presently going through the struggles that he currently faces.

The WashPost’s First Dog exclusive — which the WP says the First Lady’s office offered in March to stave off a premature story about the White House vegetable garden, which had been promised as an exclusive to The New York Times (we’re not making this up) — is rained on by weekend Web leaks.

Mark Lunsford, the Father of Murdered Jessica Lunsford Reveals He is a Dad … Mark Has a Miracle Baby Boy

Mark Lunsford, who became a national spokesman and a true American hero to so many for his endless work with child safety after his 9 year old daughter Jessica was murdered by a convicted sex offender in 2005, is a father once again. Mark called the birth a “miracle” and a second chance.

Jessica Marie Lunsford was abducted from her Homosassa, FL home was raped and later murdered on February 27, 2005 by 47 year old, previously convicted sex offender John Couey. The case of 9 year old Jessica tugged at the hearts of America an in the process a father, Mark Lunsford, became the voice of children across the United States.

Mark Lunsford’s tireless work with Jessica’s Law was his gift back to his daughter. It also represented a parents fight to protect all children against child sex predators. Mark Lunsford, a self proclaimed redneck, was one of the most unlikely advocates for child safety against sexual predators. However, Mark Lunsford became part of a fraternity that no one wants membership to as a parent who lost a child at the hands of a predator. Mark Lunsford is a true American hero as he represents John Q. Public and what one person is capable of accomplishing. Mark is the embodiment of the common man and just how much change that anyone is capable of doing when they fight back against evil rather than let it consume them.

The law is named after Jessica Lunsford, a young Florida girl who was raped and murdered in February 2005 by John Couey, a previously convicted sex offender. Public outrage over this case spurred Florida officials to introduce this legislation. Among the key provisions of the law are a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and lifetime electronic monitoring of adults convicted of lewd or lascivious acts against a victim less than 12 years old. In Florida, sexual battery or rape of a child less than twelve years old is punishable only by life imprisonment with no chance of parole.

I was surprised and beyond happy to hear the revelation out of the Ocala Star-Banner  interview with Mark Lunsford that he has a child, a baby boy. Actually, it was a secret child that he has with his girlfriend. She gave birth to a boy on October 6, 2007 — 12 years to the day after Jessica’s birth. Think that is by mere chance?

Sandra Cantu Murder: Melissa Huckaby Arrested

Tracy, CA- At 2:59 AM PST, Melissa Huckaby, 28, was arrested on kidnapping and suspicion of murder charges for 8 year old Sandra Cantu.

Police: Cantu murder suspect ‘needs to pay’

Sources inside the investigation have confirmed to Blink on Crime that Huckaby had been on Tracy PD Investigators radar almost immediately. Huckaby was the last person to see Sanda alive, and claimed she frequently played with her 5 year old daughter at the home she shared for the last year with her grandparents Pastor Clifford Lane Lawless and Connie Lawless.

Two Dead in Michigan College Shooting … Murder – Suicide at Henry Ford Community College

Another tragedy on a US college campus …

A male and female student were shot and killed on the campus of Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan on Friday. Police believe that it was a murder – suicide.

A man and woman were found dead in a classroom building on the campus of Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn Deputy Chief Gregg Brighton said.

Investigators believe the man shot the woman but would not provide further information, Brighton said.

Melissa Huckaby Arrested for Suspicion of Kidnapping and Murder of 8 Year Old Sandra Cantu

Melissa Huckaby, a 28 year old Sunday school teacher has been arrested in the murder of 8 year old Sandra Cantu. Melissa Huckaby was arrested  at approximately 2:00 am EST on suspicion of kidnapping and murder of Sandra Cantu.

Police believe that Melissa Huckaby murdered Sandra Cantu before the young 8 year old girl’s mother reported her missing. Melissa Huckaby was a neighbor whose own daughter was one of Sandra’s playmates.

Police have not yet stated a motive as to why Huckaby would have murdered the 8 year old girl, but stated that there were inconsistencies in the story that she had provided to investigators. Melissa Huckaby lives with her grandparents in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park and is a Sunday school teacher at the nearby Clover Road Baptist Church, where her grandfather, Lane Lawless, is the pastor. [Correction: Huckaby was a Sunday school teacher, but not at this church].

Police would not reveal what led to Huckaby’s arrest, but said it followed questioning. They did not offer a possible motive.

Huckaby lived in the same mobile home park as Sandra’s family, and Sandra was friends with Huckaby’s daughter, Sheneman said.

Check out the video of a recent interview with Melissa Huckaby and what she told the media. Obviously these comments conflicted with what she told authorities. She claimed she provided a hand written note found in front of Cantu’s home to police.

Just yesterday it was reported that an arrest was imminent as Tracy Police Sergeant Tony Sheneman stated they are narrowing their investigation in one direction.
