North Korea & Kim Jong Il Defy World and Barack Obama as they Launch Long Range Missile

Let this be a lesson to all. It does not matter who or what party the President of the North_korea_missileUnited States is to determine who our enemies are. As Obama calls for a world without nukes, North Korea and Kim Jong Il could care less.

North Korea and their defiant dictator Kim Jong Il have once again snubbed their nose at the world and put forth the challenge to new American President Barack Obama. On the very day that Obama was to give a speech in Europe on the reduction of nuclear weapons, Kim Jong Il has begun a new game of chicken with a different American President as North Korea launched a new long range missile.

North Korea is stating that the missile launch was a success and that the satellite is broadcasting music; however, that is not confirmed and is being disputed.

The launching of the North Korean missile drew condemnation from the United States and the world. U.S. says that the payload fell into the ocean.

The United States Northern Command issued a statement that North Korea’s Taepodong 2 missile flew over Japan, with its payload landing in the Pacific Ocean. “No object entered orbit and no debris fell on Japan,” the assessment said.

Still, the launching drew swift international condemnation and prompted the U.N. Security Council to convene an emergency meeting on Sunday in which the United States, Japan and South Korea vowed to penalize the North.

Barack Obama has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to deal with the North Korean missile launch issue. Why? What will the UN do, create more rules that Kim Jong Il will laugh at? Obama stated that,”Words must mean something”. Really, since when if they come from the UN? I think it is safe to say that North Korea and Kim Jong Il could care less what the UN says or any International response. Kim Jong Il is not going to suddenly change his stripes just because Barack Obama was elected President.

“This provocation underscores the need for action, not just this afternoon at the UN Security Council, but in our determination to prevent the spread of these weapons,” he said. “Rules must be binding, violations must be punished, words must mean something”.

“The world must stand together to prevent the spread of these weapons. Now is the time for a strong international response.” (Barack Obama during speech in Prague)

UPDATE I: Obama Calls For a World without Nukes Hours After North Korea Missile Launch

Hours after Kim Jong Il began his new game of chicken with Barack Obama, the American President in a speech in Prague called for “a world without nuclear weapons. Obviously, Kim Jong Il timed the launch of the missile to be prior to the new President’s speech. During Obama’s speech in Prague, with teleprompters, Obama states that it was the United States has a “moral responsibility ” to lead the way, as the only  nation ever to use them.

The president, who was woken up just after 4:30 a.m. local time by news of the launch, spoke to the authoritarian state in remarks hastily added to his text.

“Now is the time for a strong international response, and North Korea must know that the path to security and respect will never come through threats and illegal weapons,” Obama said to thousands thronged into the cobblestone square outside the elegant Prague Castle, in what was the largest crowd of his five-country, eight-day swing.

“All nations must come together to build a stronger, global regime. And that’s why we must stand shoulder to shoulder to pressure the North Koreans to change course.”

Even without what Obama called North Korea’s “provocation,” the speech was set against considerable symbolism.

The president directly addressed the Cold War history of this former Soviet bloc city, calling the remaining nuclear weapons “the most dangerous legacy” of that era.
He again pointed to history to say that America must lead. “As a nuclear power – as the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon – the United States has a moral responsibility to act,” he said.

UPDATE II: Is Barack Obama’s Peace Through Weakness the Right Move for American National Defense?

The Gateway Pundit reminds us of Obama’s campaign promises of “peace through weakness”. This hardly seems like it is in the national interest of the defense of the US to degrade the United States nuclear arsenal and uphold the liberal dream of the elimination of all nukes while rogue nations follow no rules in gaining them.

“I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.”

We were all holding our breath and waiting just how soon Obama would have to deal with a foreign policy crisis.

I think it is safe to say that Kim Jong Il of North Korea is not one of the wowed people that Obama is President of the US.

Only China can make North Korea do anything and right now China is taking on the US for top dog in the world. Think they care to help?

Where is Biden, I thought he was Obama’s foreign policy guru?

Singing Kumbaya is not going to work with North Korea and neither is teleprompter speeches. Talk is cheap.

      From BO in Prague:

Iran abandoning their nuclear pursuits. Mr. President, not only are you naive, you are a danger is US national security with any belief that this is possible … NO IT WON’T!!

But he said that they if they did not agree to inspections, Iran would face “isolation, international pressure, and a potential nuclear arms race in the region that will increase insecurity for all.” And Obama said he would continue to pursue a missile-defense system in Europe as long as the Iranian nuclear threat existed – but suggested he would abandon it if Iran abandoned its nuclear pursuits.

Going off script to borrow his signature campaign line, Obama acknowledged a nuclear-free world will not happen easily.

“I’m not naive. This goal will not be reached quickly –- perhaps not in my lifetime. It will take patience and persistence,” he told an adoring crowd that waved miniature American and Czech flags. “But now we, too, must ignore the voices who tell us that the world cannot change. We have to insist, “Yes, we can.”

Yes the launch vehicle crashed into the ocean but it may not of have been a failure. It could of been a test of the 2nd stage booster sections. If the guy in the pajamas and the messed up hair predicted the location of the splashdown it would of been a great test of what the vehicle could do and it’s guidance systems. Sleepy head already dosent care what the world thinks of him and if he attempts another launch in the next two years it just may reach Alaska.
I wonder how many of his people he could feed with all the money spends on failure (nuke tests, rockets and army) Hey kim wake up and comb your hair !!!

America wants to win the “WAR ON SPACE” and will make any political acceptable (and consumable) excusues, to prevent ANY nation to launch missiles and satelites into an orbit in space WHICH THEY CAN NOT CONTROL!

      Think Echelon,
      Think GPS-satelite network,
      Think Keyhole spysatelites
      Think Telecom en satphone networks

I think this Korean missile will be sabotaged in a way that is not able to reach space.. This has nothing to do with the nuclear thread of Korea being able to shoot a nuke at USA ground

      Think outside of your media-programmed-mind-box!
Think global earth and space domination.
      _________-
SM: I would agree that this is partly to do with satellites; however, it has more to do with the capability to launch long range nuclear warheads and sell that technology to countries like Iran.

NK has no real exports … this certainly would be one. You might be using far too much reason for the exploits of a mad man.

Dear SM…fact Obama made it a point to declare, “I’m not naive” says the exact opposite. He either truly feels naive, or he is trying to convince those of us who can plainly see otherwise it isn’t so. If not, he wouldn’t feel the need to stress this at all.

As many of you know from me posting forever in here, I work in IT and when we get new hires or interviewees….it’s clear pretty much from the first few questions you ask if they know what they claim to know or not.

Obama! If you are reading/listening…we can plainly see you are naive!!!!! (or evil and know what you’re doing)

    14. Brenda in Virginia on April 6th, 2009 7:55 am

      Dear Ronald & SM,

We cannot say which country or who’s money is truly behind this launch. The testing of this rocket IMO isn’t the success that mattered. What matters is the fact a little country like Korea and it’s crazy leader Kim Jong Mentally Ill has shown the world he can spit in Obama’s (America’s) fact with NO concern of any consequence whatsosever. He has shown the world neither America, China, any European nation, or the U.N. can stop them from doing what they want. The terrorists must be dancing in the streets.

Any capability to take out satellites would be disastrous as it would criple our communication all over the world.

    15. Brenda in Virginia on April 6th, 2009 7:57 am

meant to say “spit in Obama’s (America’s) FACE… not fact. but it’s a fact Kim did so in his own opinion and those supporting this launch.

Wonder what you thought back in 2006 when North Korea actually tested a nuclear bomb?

Guess what GWB did? Nothing. Zero. Zip.

#14 – Now back to digging your underground bunker your gonna be living in when the world comes to an end because President Obama gave the Queen of England an ipod.

    18. Banquo on April 6th, 2009 3:50 pm

      Dear SM,

Knowing fully well the consequences, the North Korean president has to be cautioned and expelled from the international community, let him use the tax payers money to help his poor people in the North Korea, rather than using the money to be producing the weapons of mass destruction, I don’t know why God should allow people of such nature to be in existence.

    19. Banquo From Johannesburg South Africa on April 6th, 2009 4:05 pm

      Dear SM,

This is absolute madness; the so called Kim Jong is a very sick and irritating person, knowing fully well that Obama is just trying to reconcile the troubled parties in the middle east, he is using this plot to divert Obama’s attention to North Korea so that there will be no peace in the middle east, but his plans will fail him because President Obama is destined to be a peace maker/c I want peace to reign in the Middle East so that the Israelites will live in peace.

      Buster: 0 money from Iran.

and to who to sell those missiles?

      Iran: has its own
      China: has its own

and prob. the CIA, MI6 and (the very scary part) Dutch militairy intel. are keeping a close eye on this.

ok, the Dutch are doing the catering ;p

    23. ANewGirl on April 7th, 2009 8:03 am

I agree with #14 Michelle Smith. I like to keep it simple “stupid”. While the crux of the issue may be about N. Korea’s capability to launch long range nuclear warheads in addition to being able to sell that technology to other countries…..

this appears to be more of a power play among International Heads of State. Kim Jong is evil and demented and that is no propoganda. All one needs to do is research a bit about N. Korea’s history and this man and all of the WRONG answers are right in front of your face! Here is a man who despises the US, yet wears Western Clothing & Fashion and loves American Country Music! He deprives his own people of everything while all he seeks is power, strength and money. It’s twisted on so many levels.

Kim Jong also has millions of his own starving people living in darkness, poverty and complete despair. I don’t care how many millions or billions of them they are….the US still has a stronger military presence. Problem is…Our COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@#22- Dolf- for once, a post from you that makes sense, Thank you for that info which is true.
