Barack Obama Metaphor: Hillary Clinton Gaffe RED RESET BUTTON … “overcharge” … ‘peregruzka’

OBAMA METAPHOR … OVERCHARGE

Barack Obama Administration … Not Ready for Prime Time.Button_Reset What a great way to make a first impression with the Russians. So this is how one resets relations … with a gaffe. As The Weekly Standard aptly puts it, Restoring Our Standing in the World One Gaffe at a Time. How fitting that the Obama Administration would use the word overcharge.

Reset (‘peregruzka’) = Overcharge in Russian

Obama Change You Can Believe In = Overcharge in America

Overcharge: A trillion in spending there . . . A billion for the Palestinians . . . A plunging Dow, wiping out retirement and college funds . . . Cap ‘n trade that will cause energy prices to soar and potentially bankrupt the coal industry . . . Higher taxes for small business owners . . .

Could there be a better metaphor for the Change promised by Barack Obama than the recent gaffe by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Russia with regards to the “Red Button”? Can the Obama Administration get anything right?

Hillary Clinton thought she was giving  a Russian diplomat a reset button fir foreign relations, instead she gives them an “overcharge” button instead. DUH!!! Are you telling us that there is no one in the Obama Administration that does not know how to translate Russian? Funny, go to Babelfish and reset is translated as ??????? in Russian.

After promising to “push the reset button” on relations with Moscow, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton planned to present Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with a light-hearted gift at their talks here Friday night to symbolize the Obama administration’s desire for a new beginning in the relationship.

It didn’t quite work out as she planned.

“You got it wrong,” Lavrov said, to Clinton’s clear surprise. Instead of “reset,” he said the word on the box meant “overcharge.”

We want to reset our relationship and show the world that the Obama Administration isn’t ready to lead, fix an economy or translate words correctly.

We worked hard to get the right Russian word … You got it wrong. [God only knows what word might have been used if they did not work hard.]

As the Gateway Pundit stated, Hillary Clinton was sure to have dropped some F-bombs behind closed doors after this incident. It is amateur hour in the White House … there is some change you can believe in.

So the LEFT claims that the usual wingnuts are making a big deal out of this, yet these are the same people that ridiculed GWB and any Republican when they make a gaffe. There’s some consistency you can believe in. Like it or not, your Obamamessiah’s Administration is a gaffe a day and VP Biden has not even gotten he gaffe legs yet.

UPDATE I: Lost in Translation as Hillary’s joke goes awry. I guess its a good thing that Clinton was not in the Middle East trying to translate that Islam is a religion of peace. Or as Jules Crittenden states, “I thought Hillary was supposed to be the one with the 3 0′clock in the morning wake-up call experience.”

UPDATE II: Russian media teases Clinton over ‘reset’ button

It’s been quite a week for Hillary Clinton and the Obama apology tour. I guess this is the new way how we are to be respected in the world. GWB mis-speaks and it’s a global crisis, Hillary gaffes and she must be tired.

Daily newspaper Kommersant put a prominent picture of the fake red button on its front page and declared: “Sergei Lavrov and Hillary Clinton pushed the wrong button.”

A correspondent for NTV television called it a “symbolic mistake,” pointing out that US-Russian ties had become overcharged in recent years due to discord over such issues as missile defence and last summer’s war in Georgia.

“The friendly US gesture was upturned by a small amusing incident,” the news website RBC.ru wrote in an article posted late Friday evening.

“Yet this curious episode did not stop Clinton and Lavrov from pushing the button in front of television cameras.”

And SNL says they can’t find anything funny to do as a skit for Obama and his Administration.

Now who does not think Hillary texting Obama on his blackberry for the definition of “reset” and Obama sending her back the Russian translation for F#%@ Y@& would not be fuuny.

How is it that the Obamamessiah and his Cabinet choice could be such screw ups and so uninformed.

Restoring Our Standing in the World One Gaffe at a Time … That will be well respected.

Looks like we have returned to the Carter years. Who warned ya?

Can’t you stop? Don’t you think you can find one good thing to say to support this new administration? Don’t you think support would help our world economy rather than constant criticism and negativity? Apparently you think that continuing Bush politics would have been better.

I used to like reading Scared Monkeys but it is getting very tiresome.

Obama is turning out to be the rank amateur that everyone had called him during the election. There will come a point and time where all of those who voted for The Chosen One will have to admist their mistake.

      We warned you about change.

Obama is puttinmg his fingers in everything instead of focussing on one issue and getting that right.

In two years his socialism will come to an end.

I used to like when the Dow was over 7000 and people had jobs as well as my 401(k) actually was worth something.

Watching Obama’s policies continually destroy America and capitalism gets pretty tiresome too.

I will never support an Administration that is for redistributing the wealth and socialism, NEVER!

      #2,

I must have missed the 8 years where Democrats supported GWB? Please do not say after 9-11, because they had to or be run out of the country.

The LEFT wanted the war in Iraq to fail and even claimed a defeat when there was clearly a victory. Obama could never admit that the surge was a complete success.

Obama had an opportunity to make a difference with the economy and instead he has made the markets and investors so fearful of his socialist policies that no one dare put $’s in.

Instead, let’s prop up failed businesses with trillion $ bail outs … it worked so well for Air America. Now our children and grand children will be saddled paying for this. Yea, that’s something everyone should support.

Obama is a fraud and the markets and investors do not care how slick he is … Stock markets and futures know BS.

Big government is never the answer, its the problem.

oh yes, i feel great about discussing BUTTONS between two nations that could bring about
the end of our entire planet by simply
      pushing a couple.

just put a ‘SKI’ on the end of the word, and smile a whole bunch after you say it, Hillary!

DO NOT FIND A BUTTON AND ACT IT OUT FOR THEM.

A new Newsweek poll finds that 72 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of President Obama, 58 percent approve of the job he is doing, and 65 percent are very or somewhat confident that he will be successful in turning the economy around.

Oh Snap. I hate when that happens. Guess everyone loves the “rank amateur” except you dead enders. What is it about losing the election that Scared MonKeys, Michelle and Super Dave don’t get?

Of course your Obama is going to have a high approval rating and people are going to want to have him succeed. However, when it finally sinks in at what cost, we shall see.

The other difference is that Bush didn’t lie about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He merely was mistaken. Whereas Obama told a whopper when he claimed that he is not for bigger government. As he said last week: “As soon as I took office, I asked this Congress to send me a recovery plan by Presidents Day that would put people back to work and put money in their pockets, not because I believe in bigger government — I don’t.”

Policy guru says global upheaval presents ‘great opportunity’

oh you great intellectuals, you. How easy it is to dissect and analyze, criticize and declaim doom. What are you actually doing to make anything better as regards the situation? If a few folks spent less time in their own heads and a bit more time working with their families, communities, co-workers, etc. to make this country a bit ‘better’ off, we wouldn’t HAVE to rely so completely on “guvmint” regulate. Let’s face it, Obama didn’t create the economic disaster, the war in Iraq, the strained relations between the US and Russia, etc. BUT….. he had the courage to listen to everyone’s crap about what a crock he is and still go to work and do the best he can. That’s what the American people asked him to do. Not to be perfect, just be president, after all…. clearly that’s a simple job, n’est-ce pas? Yea, right. And don’t even try to get me to believe that the Obama administration has even a chance of turning this country around on it’s ear and making it a socialist nation. Yeah, that’s going to happen. It’s four years, geeez, get off your keester, er keyboard and go out there and do something to help. If you have strong beliefs about it, go take action. And, no…. I don’t consider sitting in the privacy of your home and expounding your philosophies on politics to be action.

      #14.

Don’t be so quick to take Obama off the hook. He has no problem how Democrats handled Freddie and Fannie Mae. Obviously anyone can see that he is a tax and spend liberal … great for America.

He didn’t have anything to do with Iraq so I guess he will not be declaring it a success and victory there as the surge worked, which he was against.

I do something every day. I hold down 2 jobs, I pay my bills and I pay my mortgage.

Sadly in an Obama Administration I must now pay for all the people who cannot act responsibly and pay their own way thru life.

I must pay their mortgages too. Know what will happen when the responsible people have to fund the irresponsible? They too will not be able to meet their household expenses.

Too many people were provided home’s with no credit checks. Now we must ensure that they stay in the homes they should have never been given a mortgage for in the first place, BS!!!

Let them rent. There is nothing in the US Constitution that states you have a right to own a home.

Obama is in way over his head. That is obvious by how he is dealing with issues. He has stuck his finger in too many pies and screwed them all up rather than concentrating on a few issues and getting them right.

    19. Michelle Smith on March 8th, 2009 3:17 pm

#14 What makes you think we aren’t doing something? I volunteer plenty. I go to work everyday, I pay my bills. I donate time, money & goods to the community. I’m a responsible person, so I don’t see why I should have to pay for others irresponsibility. I have every right to post my disgust with the way Obama & his administration are handling things. What has he done to improve the situation?

You don’t have a clue what we that post our feelings on this site, have or have not done, so don’t be so quick to judge and don’t be so quick to defend the current administration when they have done jack to straighten any of this mess out.
