CHANGE: Obama’s War on Charities … Obama’s Plan to Reduce Charitable Deductions for the Wealthy

Is Barack Obama trying to harm charities?

The answer is yes no matter how Obama and his minions want to spin it. Why is Obama declaring war on charities? Let’s guess … so people will have to look to the Government for help instead of private, caring, charitable giving individuals. Charities have already been hit hard by the recession and Barack “Scrooge” Obama wants to make it even worse. People, are you starting to get the picture of the change that you voted for?

Change Charities can Believe In

Obama and change you can believe in … now the Obamamessiah wants to mess with charitable contribution deductions for the wealthy and its scaring the daylights out of Non-profits. Why would Obama want to impose limits of charitable contribution tax deductions for the rich during a down turn in the economy? The very people who provide the most in charitable giving, non-profit experts now fear that will dry up.

Mr. Obama proposed the new caps on Thursday as a way to finance changes in the country’s health-care system.

In a document outlining his 2010 budget plans, President Obama proposed limiting the value of the tax break for itemized deductions, including donations to charity, to 28 percent for families making more than $250,000. In other words, taxpayers would save 28 cents on their federal income taxes for each dollar donated.

That would reduce by as much as 20 percent the amount wealthy taxpayers could get in tax breaks. Under the current system, taxpayers who are in the 33 percent or 35 percent tax brackets use that rate to claim deductions.

Budget Director Peter Orszag tries to spin the taxing scheme, but fails miserable. Who cares whether there is a recession or not, taxing charitable spending is a bad premise, PERIOD, no matter when.  No one cares how poorly thought out taxes are going to be spent when they decimate charities.

Ultimately, not only is this tax plan on charitable contributions dangerous, the reasons why hind it make little to no sense.

The top executives at Independent Sector and the Council on Foundations state Obama tax plan would hamper giving to nonprofit groups and foundations.

Well how much does the actual donated money go to the cause? It’s the same with the larger charities, the CEO’s etc get most of it

      Wow,

Unbelievable. What else does uncle Obama have in store? I would have never believed this one in a million years, or ever thought up something so diabolical, even if I wanted to destroy churches and charitable groups. I guess before it is over, he is going to suggest that Churches pay taxes. I’ve heard that one before. Watch out, United Way.

When charity is distributed by Churches, Civic Organizations,
Individuals, Businesses, and other Private sources, the recipients
are encouraged to be thankful, more responsible, ethical, and
to be the best they can be in every way. That same charity
distributed by bureaucracies is taken for granted by the
recipients and in fact demanded. Nothing more than votes are
expected in return. Community Organizers organize ‘Communities’
to get what they want from the government. Only logical to vote
in the politicians that can do the ‘getting’.

Charity directly from Giving People to Needy People is best done
directly on a personal level. Recipients can then raalize the
dough is actually coming from a fellow American’s pocket and
not the impersonal ‘Government’. Barry’s way, on the other hand is
to use confiscatory taxation on the “givers” and then redistribute it
to the “recipients” in the name of Liberal Justice for Fairness to all.
In fact if recipients do improve themselves and become responsible
and thus self-reliant, who would actually need
Barry and his Bunch any longer????

In Obama’s Chicago not too long ago the price for a vote was about
$3 for a bottle of booze (delivered at/near the polling place).
Voters are now too smart to settle for a lousy bottle of booze.
They react better to their mortgage being paid for them
and things fitting of proud folks. After all, dignity counts these days.

Please pass the plasma TV, thanks!

#1 Give me a break and stop defending the Socialist and Chief Obama.

There are specifically written laws as to have 501(c)3 can distribute money.

You dare ask who gets the money as compared to the bureaucracy of the Federal Govt??? Put the Kool-aide down please.

Non profits and charities do so much in this country do to private donations. Looks like Barack wants to change that good too.

You were all warned folks … change is sometimes not for the better.

I believe the greater purpose is to destroy the fabric of free speech and American society and values. Charities do the good works that government can’t. They take care of people, promote moral and ethical values, something government can’t do, or does not do well over time. Charities give a voice to those that need a voice. Did Obama fund everyone’s church, youth organization, or just ACORN? ACORN, the model of the future and perhaps the biggest special interest group? The Obama plan for change – eliminate diversity, ensure that charities and good works do not survive. Government will ‘fill the gap’ left behind by charity to ensure that people don’t depend on charity to live in dignity. Change we can believe in. It doesn’t matter what your charity, maybe MoveOn is a charity to. Government can never replace grass roots efforts or causes, it can only stifle diversity and free speech by closing the purse strings and ensuring that people’s money goes the GOVERNMENT SPECIAL INTERESTS. my opinions.

My posts have ended in the spam trap apparently the last couple of days, here’s another try.

Red and RightKnight are right. But why be surprised that O is doing this? Look at how in a few strokes of the pen after being in office for 1 month, O is killing the very life blood of America – investors (those in invest in the economy and thereby create jobs) and business (those that make goods and services that grow the GDP and also create jobs).

#1 is loopy. But I have a question for him: How much of the money (taken from the taxpayer) the government gets goes to the “poor”? Look at welfare – the estimate is that $0.25 of every dollar allocated to welfare actually makes it to a recipient. There aren’t too many bona fide charities that could do much worse. Most do much, much better.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama will break a campaign pledge against congressional earmarks and sign a budget bill laden with millions in lawmakers’ pet projects, administration officials said.

What will he do next ???

#8 – you never really believed that “promise” did you? It’s simply campaign rhetoric (read what he has to say to get elected).

9,000 earmarks – count ‘em folks – 9,000 earmarks totaling about $6 billion. Then read about the increased entertaining the White House is doing while you and I try to figure new ways to stretch a dollar.

Throwing more money into the pit and it keeps getting deeper. I don’t see things getting any better. Who is benefiting from all this money?
