Change You Can Believe In … Another Obama nominee, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis Has Tax Issues Also

This is just plain embarrassing … although look on the bright side Mr. President, this Hilda Solisone only owed $6400. Who knew that appointing an Obama Cabinet without tax cheats would be such a daunting task?

More Change you can believe in … if it’s a Barack Obama nominee, they must certainly have not paid their taxes.  Hilda Solis, the nominee for Secretary of Labor has became the third Barack Obama Cabinet appointee to have undisclosed tax problem. Hilda Solis’ husband paid about $6,400 Wednesday to settle tax liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years against his business.

The husband of President Obama’s choice to head the Labor Department paid about $6,400 Wednesday to settle tax liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years against his business, the Obama administration said Thursday.
The disclosure came shortly before a scheduled 2 p.m. meeting of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which will vote on U.S. Rep. Hilda Solis’ nomination as Labor secretary. The hearing was postponed to give the administration time to look into the tax matter and report back to the committee, said Anthony Coley, a spokesman for Sen. Edward Kennedy, the committee chairman. Solis is a California Democrat.

Michelle Malkin points out the complete and utter lack of shame in disclosing the tax lien issue just hours before the nomination vote was supposed to take place. All this from the President who promised us Hope, Change and Transparency. Michelle Malkin also goes on to discuss the obvious double standard with regards to the tax lien as opposed to how the MSM salivated over Joe the Plumber’s tax lien. Yep, no double standard here.

It gets pretty bad when liberals in the media like Bob Woodward start making fun of you.

Then Woodward told a story of seeing a man, after Obama’s election, put an Obama sticker on his car. “Maybe he’ll get a cabinet appointment—if he paid his taxes,” said Woodward, who later added that the president’s next cabinet appointment will be “someone who fills out the short form.”

UPDATE I: Solis Senate Session Postponed in Wake of Husband’s Tax Lien Revelations

Not so fast … could another Obama nominee bite the dust?

UPDATE II: Hilda Solis, Labor nominee, faces tax questions

How is it that the Obama vetting machine cannot find such issues as to whether some one had a tax lien on their home? What is it that they are actually vetting?

Reporting from Los Angeles and Washington — U.S. Rep. Hilda L. Solis, President Obama’s choice for Labor secretary, faced new obstacles after lawmakers who were expected to vote on her confirmation Thursday abruptly canceled the hearing amid reports of back taxes owed by her husband.

Solis, a Democrat from El Monte, is at least the fourth Obama nominee whose confirmation has been complicated by tax troubles.

The Obama administration conceded it had not discovered on its own that California tax liens had been filed against Solis’ husband, Sam H. Sayyad. The White House learned about the liens — a matter of public record — on Tuesday in the form of questions from USA Today, according to an administration aide.

Well, after all, these people are SO penitent … once they’ve been found out.

Wonder if we could find just one senator or congressman without “tax problems”. Aren’t our leaders suppose to be examples? Were we hoping that would change?

“Michelle Malkin also goes on to discuss the obvious double standard with regards to the tax lien as opposed to how the MSM salivated over Joe the Plumber’s tax lien. Yep, no double standard here.”

That sentence is a 100% LIE.

Here is what was said in the article you linked: “Now, compare the treatment Solis and her hubby will get for his 15 outstanding liens compared to how Joe Wurzelbacher’s one lien was splashed all over the front pages and nightly news.”

“WILL GET”. Did the author of this fail English 101?

      “Discussion” as stated above?
Here the “discussion” in it’s entirety:

“USA Today reports that the Obama White House sheepishly disclosed today that Labor Secretary nominee Hilda Solis’s hubby has just paid up 16-year-old tax liens…yesterday. The disclosure comes just hours before the nomination vote. Hope, Change, Transparency!
Now, compare the treatment Solis and her hubby will get for his 15 outstanding liens compared to how Joe Wurzelbacher’s one lien was splashed all over the front pages and nightly news.”

      Wow…big “discussion”. lol.

False propaganda of a wingnut, utter dishonesty, or plain fatuity…your choice.

Since tax problem are suddenly such a “badge of criminal un-Americanism” to Republicans…aren’t we lucky that McCain/Palin didn’t get elected. Lol.

That aside – the US needs a serious reform of the tax code.

its probably very hard to find a real honest politician
      _______
SM: They are out there … we just should not choose career politicians … we should vote for people who will service their time and then go home … not live in DC for decades.

There are plenty of honest people out there … we need to stop putting up with this nonsense.

      Dear Mr. President Obama,
Why do pick tax cheats for your Cabinet over and over again?
How did you get through Harvard?
Were you a affirmative action student?

At some point Mr. President your high ethics speech needs to come into action.
I thought you said, “You would get it right on day one.”???

      WORDS are Cheap!
      Your actions speak loudly!

I believe President Obama chose those nominees on their merit. It was the responsibility of those nominees to come clean during their vetting interviews.

President Obama cannot be held responsible for their being caught lying after they were nominated.
