Eight Year Jail Sentence for Izaan & Lorenzo for Abduction of Millionaire’s Daughter Claudia Melchers

If kidnapping charges are good enough for Izaan Moenir Alam and Lorenzo, why not Joran Van der Sloot and the Kalpoes?

An Amsterdam court has sentenced the two main suspects from Curacao, Izaan Moenir Alam and his cousin Lorenzo, to 10 and 8 years jail respectively for the abduction and kidnapping of a millionaire Hans Melchers’ daughter Claudia Melchers.

Interestingly enough, did not Joran Van der Sloot just recently admit in an interview with Greta Van Susteren that he sold Natalee Holloway to a Venezuela man for $10,000? In making such an admission, did he also not admit to kidnapping and human trafficking? So why didn’t Aruba prosecutors pursue these admissions from Joran Van der Sloot? They had no problem believing the Holiday Inn story or that Joran just left Natalee on the beach. Shouldn’t they at the very least investigate his own words and admissions? Kidnapping gets one 8 to 10 years, so Joran what did you say you did with Natalee Holloway? No matter how one looks at it, Natalee Holloway was taken from Carlos N’ Charlies and never returned to her hotel … is not that kidnapping?

Melchers was abducted from her home in Amsterdam South-East on September 12, 2005.  The kidnappers kept her in a vacation house for three days and released her in the neighbourhood of Arnhem.  The ransom was never paid.  According to the court, Izaan has definitely played a ‘leading part’ in the carrying out of the abduction.  Lorenzo was the brain behind the abduction, ‘the intellectual perpetrator’.  He was not involved in the actual carrying out of the abduction.

The court says that the suspects have invaded the mental and physical integrity of Melchers and because of that, harmed her trust in the fellow man.  The court says that Izaan and Lorenzo appeared to be ‘capable of degrading others to an instrument that they violently put into action in their craving for money’.
The court blames the kidnappers for having kidnapped Melchers from her own home and before the eyes of her children. What also weighed hard is the fact that they have chosen a completely innocent victim.  Izaan has confessed to the kidnapping.  Lorenzo denies every involvement, but the court doesn’t believe anything he’s saying though.

in the fall, they said a decision would be made in december. in december, in order for american tourists to feel good about signing up for the high season in january and february, they have put off announcing that there will be no prosecution until the hotels are full of americans and american money is safely in their hands.

imo, of course, but it’s consistent with the way they’ve done it in the past 3 yrs.

I hadn’t seen or heared any of the Claudia Melchers trial in the news yet…
The biggest news in the NL’s today was a bit lighter; the hunt for this girl:

      http://tinyurl.com/8yten5

Her picture taken at the ‘New Years Dive’ was on the front page of the Telegraaf this morning and the satirical newsblog ‘GeenStijl’ (No Style / Styleless) started a hunt for her: “Wie Is Dit” (Who Is This).

The 17-year old is traced now and she’s offered modeling contracts, television careers, and so on, and so on, and so on….

      News is relative?

Am I the only one who still struggles with making ANY SENSE AT ALL out of Amsterdam’s Legal System?????

      * 8 years seems lenient to me. Even Dutch Citizen #3 asks the same question many Americans are STILL wondering.

Aruba is known for human trafficking and, yet, there are no alarms going off on their island when Joran Van der Sloot admits to selling Natalee? And, what of the corruption that he told Greta about? Corruption is, exactly, what has made this charade all possible.

Three long years and, still, nothing from Aruba? Although there are private citizens that agree with the boycott of Aruba and know of the corruption that exists there, the Dutch, as a government, are not willing to do anything about it… why? What about Natalee’s human rights?

      Boycott Aruba!

Dutch citizen (#3) … Could it be that the Dutch have one standard for a crime committed on their soil against one of their own citizens … whereas when an American is a victim in Aruba (true, the vdScum family are Dutch, something that I am sure makes some of our Dutch readers proud, but the Dutch tried to tell people that they were Aruban), they could care less?
