Scrooge Scientists Say Christmas is a Global Warming Bah Humbug … Christmas Lights harm the Planet … But They Sure are Pretty

Now Christmas is to blame for global warming …

Bah Humbug, scientists warn that Christmas lights are harmful to the planet due to BahHumbugthe huge waste of electricity and green house gas emissions. In true Ebenezer Scrooge fashion, scientists rail on Christmas lights as be harmful to the planet as being wasteful yet what about all the other large wasteful consumptions of energy? One would think that these same scientists are against the lights and energy one uses in their homes every day of the year. Conservation is important and in todays world we have a thing called energy saving bulbs. Could one these people just sit back, breathe the air and enjoy the season?

SCIENTISTS have warned that Christmas lights are bad for the planet due to huge electricity waste and urged people to get energy efficient festive bulbs.

CSIRO researchers said householders should know that each bulb turned on in the name of Christmas will increase emissions of greenhouse gases.

Dr Glenn Platt, who leads research on energy demand, said Australia got 80 per cent of its electricity by burning coal which pumps harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

Checks out these lights as well, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Perhaps if politicians around the world would be quiet for one day (O happy thought!) the natural climate and human society would be much improved.

Meanwhile, an observation appropriate for now:

These words by the quintessential Christmas author, Charles Dickens, in “Sketches by Boz,” may say it best of all:

Reflect upon your present blessings – of which every man has many – not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.

better use LED Christmas Lights, to keep electricity costs and CO2 emissions down.
      they use 90% less energy.
