Twists & Turns in Caylee Anthony Case as Major Announcement Expected at 2:00 PM … Remains ID’d as Caylee Anthony

According to reports there will be a major announcement by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in the Caylee Anthony case this afternoon at 2:00 eastern. Most likely the child’s skeletal remains found a week ago Thursday will be identified and the utility worker who found the remains will be named as well. Most likely the Sheriff’s office will hopefully clear up the questions revolving around the utility workers prior 3 calls to notify them of this area and what actions where taken by police at the time.

UPDATE I: The remains have been positively identified as Caylee Anthony

The sad but not unexpected news has been confirmed by the Orlando County Sheriff’s office, that the Medical Examiner has determined that the remains found last week near the Anthony home was that of missing Caylee Anthony. The death certificate to be issued today will be homicide by unknown means.

Orlando authorities say DNA tests confirm the skeletal remains recently found in the woods belong to missing toddler Caylee Anthony.

A county medical examiner said at a news conference Friday that the remains match Caylee’s DNA profile, and that the death is considered a homicide.

UPDATE II: Medical Examiner Says Remains Are Caylee’s (WFTV)

VIDEO of Dr. Jan C. Garavaglia announcement of Caylee Anthony ID. The medical examiner confirmed that the bones found in a wooded area near the home of Cindy and George Anthony are that of missing 2 year old Caylee Anthony.

The remains found in a wooded area near the home of George and Cindy Anthony have been positively identified as their granddaughter, Caylee.

“This identification was made from nuclear DNA taken from the remains and compared to a known profile of Caylee Anthony,” Dr. Jan C. Garavaglia said. “There was no trauma to the bones prior to the death. The manner of the death in this cause is homicide. The cause of death will be listed as homicide by unknown means.”

UPDATE III: There will be Separate News Conference at 3:30 regarding Meter Reader

“This is a sheriff’s nightmare,” Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary said. “I think there’s been an open wound in the community. No child should have to go through this, and we have far too many incidents like this across the country all the time.”

The meter reader who found the remains, and called the department four months ago directing them to the site three times, is also expected to hold a separate news conference Friday afternoon.

At a Thursday news conference, Capt. Angelo Nieves, a Sheriff’s Department commander, said investigators were looking into whether the tips, called in August 11, 12 and 13, were properly followed up.

In one of those phone calls, the meter reader reported seeing a gray bag on the side of the road, Nieves said. On August 13, a deputy responded to the site and did a “cursory search” but found nothing, Nieves said.

Nieves said police were getting more information from the tipster and the deputy who responded to the tips. He said the department was investigating the “thoroughness” of the deputy’s response but would not identify the deputy.

The meter reader “is not a suspect,” Nieves said. “He is a credible witness.”

Glad to hear about the announcement as I just heard on one of the talk shows that the utility worker “was involved” in the murder, etc….which I expected from the Dream Team. Never blame the real culprit is the key for them.

Something is very strange about this whole case, I sure hope they can prove what happened to Caylee.

I don’t know if I’m happy they found her or sad..a bit of both. I can’t imagine what that little girl went through. I hope that they have a strong case against all that where involved and they all go down. Caylee never had a chance with these poeople as her family!!

    7. Dan on December 19th, 2008 1:53 pm

What bothers me is when the cop came the third time and checked the woods, why did the utility worker not stay there and make sure the officer found the bag. This does not make any sense at all. If you find something that significant why would you not stay and make sure it was found? Something stinks here.
Rest in peace little caylee your in a far better place and with pure love surrounding you.

I think the grandparents knew something was up. I still go back to the 911 call grandma made with the comment something smells like it died in here. Poor baby, may she be with angels now. I still am out on the utility worker, but I follow this case with a passion and he probably is just a good citizen whom the defense will try to put this crime on. The real monster is a mom who would not notify the proper authorities for a month. Lets see what her story is now, now she can tell us what shes been holding back in order to protect the baby.

    14. Cinderella on December 19th, 2008 4:05 pm

It’s so obvious that the defense is going to try to maintain that even though the DNA confirms the remains as Caylee,

Casey had NOTHING to do with her death!

But there is no place for “reasonable doubt”.

p.s. Wonder what Casey meant by “She is close”?! Casey obviously KNEW the body was not far from the Anthony home.

    15. HOPE on December 19th, 2008 5:13 pm

Thing is, why should the discovery of Caylee’s body change the case. The evidence is still there… that being the cadaver hits in the back yard, the spot of decomposition in the trunk of Casey’s car and the trace evidence that, no doubt, was found in the wooded area near her home… and, certainly, all those searches that were done on her computer won’t help.

      And the LIES…

They, too, will become evidence of her guilt.

      IMO

    18. Renessa Friday on December 19th, 2008 5:35 pm

We all knew this was what they were going to discover. This is truly a sad day! I have heard news reports that have said she could GET OFF!! You have got to be kidding me!!??? Then someone made the comment that the tape could have been put there after the body was found. I think that would be known about the tape because the tape is going to look old or new. One or the other. This is what I think happened. She gave her something to make her sleepy, put tape over her mouth to keep her from being heard, put her in the trunk of her car so that she could go out and party. And she died in the trunk. I am going to be so angry if this sorry excuse for a women gets off.I feel so sorry for her parents. What a tough time for them. Their daughter is in jail for possible (well murder of her daughter), its been confirmed this is the sweet little girl and now they are going to stand by their daughter?? I am not sure how I would feel if this was me. It would be VERY hard for me to support my daughter if she did something like this. How hard this must be for them. Why didn’t she just give her daughter up to a couple that would do anything to have a baby?? I cant have children anymore, I would have loved to have taken her and I believe anyone I talk to would feel the same as I do. I am so shocked at her defense. Who is paying for this team?? Prayers for the family.

    19. Myra on December 19th, 2008 6:07 pm

I hope with all my heart that this woman pays for what she did to her daughter. RIP Caylee, you touched hearts all over the world. She is with God now and he will not ever let anyone hurt her again. Another precious angel in heaven… For the mother, I hope you rot in hell. For the grandparents, my prayers are with you. I understand your love for your daughter I only wish she had loved her daughter as much…

There was a big fight between Cindy and Casey in the pool right before Casey left and Caylee disappeared…Cindy said she called numerous times and wanted to talk to Caylee but Casey said she was sleeping….

When the car was impounded and Cindy got the credit card bill is when she got angry….then she started looking for Casey….

Well my heart as hard and Jaded as it is still breaks for this little girl. Up here in New England we’re having a major snowstorm so feeling little Caylee’s innocent joy in my heart and somehow feeling like she was with me in spirit I heard a fun soft voice in me saying “let’s go look at the snow” so I went to the sliding glass doors opened them up, and looked out upon the thick nightly blanket of snow outside. And I wrote her name in the snow. Wherever you are Caylee there is love for you and love all around you. R.I.P. Sweet princess.

I’ve been following this case and am so saddened to find out it was Caylee. I grieve, as if she’s my own, for that sweet little girl, it’s just horrific what she must of went thru with that monster (I won’t give her the satisfaction of calling her a mom)

    29. Terry on December 19th, 2008 11:54 pm

I also feel bad for the Grandparents because they do love Caylee and it’s not their fault what their daughter did. Sure they lied but I think it was more for peace of mind that they stay confident that Caylee would be found. I’m sure they knew deep down what happened but were hoping she would be found.

    30. HOPE on December 20th, 2008 12:39 am

      Terry:

I feel bad for them, too. But that doesn’t mean that they should get immunity for lying to the police or using the public’s sympathy to raise money to pay for their daughter’s defense. Not to mention attacking the sympathy of others while their grand daughter was in a garbage bag somewhere. They were both aware of what the odor of decomposition smells like. George was a homicide detective for years and he knew Caylee was gone. I think it was heartless on their part to fool the public.

Let’s just pray that Caylee gets her justice.

    31. dmexes on December 20th, 2008 12:53 am

I am angry with George and Cindy. Although I understand that they didn’t want to give up hope that baby Caylee was still alive, I think they handled Casey wrong. In their hearts they knew she wasn’t telling the whole truth. I personally would have shook the hell out of her until she gave me answers that were halfway believable. Having said that, I think we should let them grieve in peace. This is a terrible, terrible day for them and their lives will never be the same. They will suffer enough, we don’t have to add to it. R.I.P. baby Caylee.

    32. jackie on December 20th, 2008 2:39 am

I hope that now caylee will have some peace but what i want to know is this guy called this three different times. the last time supposedly someone from the sheriff’s office looked there and said it was nothing. is the maybe the same someone who was sleeping with casey and then was fired for it because he lied about knowing her.

    33. BUN on December 20th, 2008 7:41 am

If Cindy and George stay with the Zani Nanny story, I am not going to feel sorry for them at all and think they should be prosecuted for cover up as well!!!

    34. Lavanda Dolce on December 20th, 2008 8:27 am

I hope the Anthony’s disown Casey and do not attend a single sitting of her trial. She should be on her own. I can’t imagine Cindy and George having to hear all the lies again and again and all that happened to that beautiful child. I hope they just disown Casey and heal in whatever way possible in their lives. Casey ruined them for life….and no ‘dream team’ is going to fix this.

    35. Lavanda Dolce on December 20th, 2008 8:30 am

At the same time, those two members of the ‘dream team’ need not insult our intelligence. We all know the reason the case was ruled a homicide is because that beautiful child had tape wrapped around her mouth and head. That beautiful child was tossed into a rubbish bag. How dare they insult our intelligence by saying on National TV, in a chuckling mode, “Gheez. That’s what we want to know? How can they rule it a homicide if the body didn’t show the cause or what happened to Caylee?”………..shame on them. I have a lot of distaste for every single one of those defense attorney’s. I hope they bring in the death penalty and Ms. Casey can sit in seclusion with a 24-7 video playing of that sweet angel singing “you are my sunshine” until they walk her arse down the hall.

    36. katablog.com on December 20th, 2008 8:54 am

For those feeling sorry for Cindy and George: Stop and think about it please, because these are the last people for whom you should feel sorry.

They raised Casey and they knew that she lied through her teeth and stole from everyone all the time. I can see believing in your child because you hope and want to but the evidence was totally undeniable. George and Cindy enabled Casey; they allowed her comfort and support while her baby daughter was lying in the woods in a plastic bag. Cindy and George knew what that car smelled like. They knew they hadn’t seen Caylee, they knew Casey was a bald face liar, they knew there was no nanny, they saw the pictures of a partying Casey, they knew about the gas cans and shovel.

Really and truly, when your adult child lies to you, especially over a period of time, don’t you know within yourself?

Sorry, no pity here for Cindy and George. I save my sympathy for Caylee.

    37. jaf on December 20th, 2008 9:52 am

I read yesterday that the boyfriend said if he had kids he did not want girls. Lots of guys do not want kids. They think the women have no recourse but to leave. But some women believe if they get rid of the kids they have eliminated the only obstacle. Wrong. Guys have a list of reasons to dump them. They skip to the next one. Women like Susan Smith and Dianne Downs will kill their kids. Casey fits right in with them. Where did Baez get the info that the tape was added later to stage a kidnapping? If she chloroformed her before she knew the child would be agitated before passing out. Maybe she taped her mouth and held her down to get the job done. What about that. No evidence? DEATH, tape, chloroform, dumped in trash bag at a trash dump site, boyfriend did not want her, took child to drunken parties. vicious fights over Casey not taking proper care of Caylee, how much do you need. Lack of remorse. They want the theft charges done later so she won’t already be a convicted felon when she gets her sentence for what she did to her baby.

    38. jaf on December 20th, 2008 10:12 am

You cannot assume Caylee drowned thanks to the tape and chloroform. And she did not crawl into the trunk and chloroform herself. Casey is guilty of something no matter how you slice it. She needed the body to disappear and the evidence on it to be gone before it could be found. Who knew they could test the air in the trunk. Thank God.
Hope no one ignored the body in the woods long enough to help Casey’s case. The behaviour of some of her family and LE make that seem possible.

    39. eddieblue on December 20th, 2008 2:55 pm

      Justice will be done.
“the totality of the evidence and the circumstances showed that this is a homicide.”

      That is what I heard.

      Meaning:
They’re not telling us all they know.
They have evidence linking this to the Anthony home and the Monster.

They know about the decomposing body in the trunk.

Nobody else had posession of that car.

The child was killed, placed into the trunk and then taken to the location it was found.

      Duct tape bound the face?

That alone will either bring the death penalty or life with no parole.

I am not worried that the diversionary tactics of the “usual suspects” , the attornies who get only hired by the totally guilty, will be able to confuse the jury.

      It don’t work nomore.

      Stopped with the OJ trial.

The country will be watching those jurors, they will render a just verdict.
