Looking at those photos, with her vapid smile, almost makes me think that she’s detached from “reality” (whatever THAT is).

I’m wondering if people will look at this case and then start thinking about the family of Madeleine McCann. There, I think, someone who knew the family is responsible for her disappearance … maybe more than one person.

Who knows … could the same be true of Caylee Anthony? Is anything beyond belief these days?

    2. da_wench on August 6th, 2008 8:40 am

There is nothing about this case that reminds me of Maddy McCann except for the fact that a child is still missing. Casey Anthony is a pathological liar and out of touch with reality. I don’t believe for a second that the McCanns or anyone of their friends or family had anything to do with their daughter’s disappearance. Casey Anthony alone knows what happened to Caylee. Hopefully that nut will crack when all of the evidence is presented to her. DNA is going to solve this case whether she confesses or not. I just hope for the family’s sake that she will lead LE to Casey’s remains.

The simple fact that this child wasn’t reported missing for over a month doesn’t say much for the mother at all. How can anybody possibly believe anything she has to say? And for Casey’s mother, sounds to me like she knows more than she’s telling too. What I can’t comprehend though is how she can try to cover for her? This is her 2yr old granddaughter!!! HELLO!!! Where has common sense and emotion gone to these days? The forensics will tell the story and the truth will come out…you might be able to lie to people but GOD knows ALL and justice will prevail one way or another. My heart and prayers go out to little Caylee…but baby if you are no longer in this world…you are safe now in the arms of GOD!!!

I’m shocked #1 Richard did not take the State of Florida to task for charging Ms. Anthony with: Florida Statutes 827.03(3)(c) and 827.03(3)(a), while a caregiver to XXXXX, a child under 18 years of age, fail or omit to provide XXXXX, with the care, supervision and services necessary to maintain XXXXX’S physical and mental health, or fail to make a reasonable effort to protect XXXXX from abuse, neglect or exploitation by another person.

The State of Florida futher defines neglect in the Statute as: Neglect of a child may be based on repeated conduct or on a single incident or omission that results in, or could reasonably be expected to result in, serious physical or mental injury, or a substantial risk of death, to a child.

6 minutes before Richard posted #1, he posted this about McCann’s parents:
“I agree that leaving children of that age is not a good idea … though I’m told that in Europe, it is a frequent practice.
But even if the parents let their guard down, the crime was committed by Madeleine’s abductor.
      Got it?”

Richard believes leaving a 3 year old and two 2 year olds unattended/out of sight/out of earshot in a foreign country is not a chargable offense…it’s just “not a good idea”. Luckily the State of Florida, as well as every other state, believes otherwise.

      Unbelievable.
      Hypocrisy at it’s finest!

Failure to report her daughter missing for 31 days when she claims to know she was kidnapped and she still didn’t report it, the grandmother did saying the car smelled like a dead body, her daughter stole a car, and money. Why would you need a shovel to cut off grass, try a lawn mower or a weed eater. Even more bizarre,, her daughter is missing and she is worried about the height of the grass in the back yard in one place so she borrows a shovel to cut it. Just a few days after she’s missing, she’s out partying in clubs.

The Mcanns were never charged with child endangerment and reported their child missing right off, nor did they claim to know more, but weren’t telling.

Cops have said Casey lies to them about everything and refuses to cooperate in answers that could lead to her daughter and yet her parents are on tv everyday telling people to help find Caylee, when their own daughter won’t. It was said she was afraid for her daughter’s life. Everyone knows she could talk to and FBI agent or police in private and give them the info.. I don’t even believe the babysitter exists. They went to the house where she said the babysitter lived and she took her there..noone’s lived there since February. and it wasn’t the babysitter.

Another big lie she was caught in was..when she said the baby sitter called her from a private number…unknown and then days she tried calling her back and it said the number was no longer in service.. How did she do that? Can’t redial an unknown private number. I am thinking the cops know much more then they are saying. One does not lie so much unless they have something to hide.

I think the timing on the “we found the ladder next to the pool on June 16th” admission is a little suspect. Isn’t the lake/water search supposed to start tomorrow?

Sound like the pizza in the trunk theory.

Maggie – point to me a Statute in any of the 50 states in the US, or any Statute in Federal Law, that defines a certain amount of time for someone to be negligent of a child. Just 1.
Good Luck because you won’t find it.
      30min, 45min, 1 hr, 30 days – it makes no difference.

Defending someone leaving their 3 children (ages 3,2,2) alone in a groung floor hotel room in a foreign country for 30+ minutes out of sight and out of earshot while they dined 30+yrds away for 2 1/2hrs – Majority of sane people consider that criminally negligent and amazingly selfish.
      Strange why you don’t.

Here’s a question for you – In your mind would it be criminally negligent of a parent if they left their 3 year old and two 2 year olds in a locked car in a mall parking lot while they dined in a restaurant only 30 yrds away completely out of sight of those children? Yes or No?
And if someone spotted those children and called police, do you think the police would say “oh, you were going to check on them after 30minutes? Cool, no problem, no harm no foul. Thank goodness for responsible parents like you.”

    11. Ray on August 7th, 2008 12:30 am

Casey’s whole family is talking in circles like a lawyer. Should lockup the whole family.

    12. BUN on August 7th, 2008 7:10 am

#11 Ray…I am with you…the whole family is in on this deception and spinning. Last night I hear that Casey could have dressed as the ?? “Nanny” and gone to the apartment complex to set up an idea of “kidnapping”. No AMBER alert, searching the water….that beautiful child is dead, I think, and what a shame. Now we hear Casey says the child “is in danger”..no longer “safe”. This is a step away from “she is dead”.

    13. Thoughts from the Peanut Gallery on August 7th, 2008 8:08 am

On Greta last night they were talking about a flurry of phone calls made the afternoon of June 16 and on June 18–leading her experts to speculate whatever happened happened in that time frame. Makes since as it’s the most obvious.

I’ve been leaning toward accident, but the fact it wasn’t reported is really troublesome. Let’s face it their really wouldn’t be any (or any significant) legal consiquences for an accident.

I don’t think I’d be so happy to hear that a kidnapping occured as I would be if it happened in this case.

    14. Maggie on August 7th, 2008 4:06 pm

Casey did not only say her daughter was missing, but she said she was kidnapped… soo..

AS 11.56.765. Failure to Report a Violent Crime Committed Against a Child.

      (a) A person, other than the victim, commits the crime of failure to report a violent crime committed against a child if the person

      (1) witnesses what the person knows or reasonably should know is

      (A) the murder or attempted murder of a child by another;

      (B) the kidnapping or attempted kidnapping of a child by another;

      Physical neglect..

Other physical neglect—may include inadequate nutrition, clothing, or hygiene; conspicuous inattention to avoidable hazards in the home; and other forms of reckless disregard for the child’s safety and welfare.

Re the gas cans.. doesn’t sound great.. As I said before my neighbor guy when I was growing up killed his wife…2 years later he was charged with her murder, when his gf turned on him and told what she knew.. She was with him , when he did it. He burned his wife with diesel fuel, tractor tubes, grease, in a barrel until all that was left was her skull and threw it in the river with the barrel. The story was on Forensic Files before.

Anyone notice ,,, Casey broke in the shed and got the gas cans, but her mom said they had the shed locked because they weren’t home and Casey had to go next door to get a shovel to cut the tall bamboo, the day after Caylee disappears.. Why didn’t she just break in the shed and get a shovel? They call the police to the home to report gas cans missing, but don’t mention Caylee is missing.

I truly feel like I am watching Scott Peterson and his parents again. imo.. The whole thing stinks.

    15. Skyboxx on August 7th, 2008 4:12 pm

My prediction is that the whole family lawyers up now. Too much inconsistency from Grandma (and by association Grandpa)

Casey is too weird. Here’s an interesting factoid (can anyone confirm??) Word is that the authorities NEVER activated the AMBER ALERT. I lived in Florida for several years and that dad gummed Amber Alert on I-4 was activated at the drop of a hat should a child in the area or if they thought the child was headed to FL. If authorities NEVER activated amber alert, they have way more than they are telling.

Grandma needs to fess up to what she nows. Casey needs to tell what she knows. Immunity? Give me break, your daughter is missing.

My fear is that Caylee is with the angels and this was a tragic act of neglect on Casey’s part. She panicked, disposed and then concocted story.

Could the little baby have succombed to gasline fumes from the two stolen gas cans? Casey just dumb enough to put them into the back seat with Caylee in the front. She runs into store, comes out and girl is passed out or worse. She can’t revive, or doesn’t know how, precious moments go by she calls parents with rapid phone calls, no answer and the caylee dies. She places the precious child in the truck while she tries to concoct a story. Body begins to decompose, she borrows shovel and makes a make shift grave. Decides to use baby kidnapper story, but it doesn’t wash.

She might as well confess to what happened, accident or not and take a manslaughter charge, or accidental homicide.

The woman needs help. She is pathological liar and lost a child. Not easy on her, but she would be remanded to prison hospital to get help and live out her punishment. Children are a gift from God, and she mis-used the GIFT

    16. Skyboxx on August 7th, 2008 4:26 pm

Source on the ground in Orlando, says Family “knows”. They whole strategy is to misdirect, get lots of media attention, hope for so much pre trial publicity that they can get mistrial, police procedural mistakes, any technicality at all to get daughter out. Daughter will eventually say this was a accident, she was stressed heart broken and did not know where to turn. Not homicide, but death by accidental negligence. What are Florida laws concerning this? Seems to me people have been charged with neglect. Casey can’t claim Caylee climbed into the car and fell asleep, she already used the KIDNAPPING story.

Casey, WAKE UP< tell what you know.

    17. Just Bearly on August 7th, 2008 4:50 pm

If the truth comes out, like it will during and after court eventually, the public will want Caseys hide skinned alive. I think the Anthonys’ may have lost a Grand daughter, and would not want to endure the pain of losing a daughter later.

Despite the obvious differences in the missing persons case, the post birthing mental state of Casey reminds me a little of a Minnesota woman who dropped her kids over the high bridge a few years ago when the Taste of Minnesota let out one night. She acted out(of depression) and wished death to the kids I think. The Minnesota mom was sentenced to a psych ward. I see Casey getting a similar life sentence. Because if she did kill her daughter, thats just plain insane. There was something about Grandma wanting them to move out on their own, and maybe she just could not handle it(the responsibility of being a single mom) all at once.

The most perplexing thing to me right now is how she got the Zenaida Gonzalez name & info.?? Maybe something bad happened while she was out doing another crime….? Casey seemed kind of desperate for cash. We’re not really getting the whole story here sometimes me thinks…. They are saying she left a paper trail which will all come out eventually.

    18. brie. on August 7th, 2008 10:16 pm

Surely there is a key to the shed, she borrowed the neighbors shovel so there wasn’t any evidence on the one in the shed, probably opened the shed took the gas cans and then made it look like someone broke in…and besides all that how do you cut bamboo with a shovel, that’s pretty tough stuff.

There may of been an accident and Casey was responsible for it or maybe she didn’t want Caylee around anymore because of the new boyfriend.

She also hid the car, that should tell you right there, because of the evidence. Put a 12 pack of pizza’s in the trunk to try and cover the smell.

I guess she stayed at the boyfriend’s place for a whole month. Cindy found her and the car, called the police and wanted her arrested, I guess she got the credit card bill it made her mad. She knew Casey had the car so why wait a month to call the police.

    19. Michelle on August 7th, 2008 10:38 pm

Most people who just go crazy and kill their kids don’t try to hide it and generally admit it immediatly. (The woman in Minnesota, also the woman who drowned her kids in Texas). They are too far gone to go through an elaborate sceme of hiding. When I have been extremely depressed, (not that I have EVER been homicidal) it is impossible to do simple planning of my day, let alone make a sceme of where I am hiding a body.

This woman had not just given birth, the child was almost 3 years old. There was also no history of depression with her that I have heard of.

Even if it was an accident that was entirely out of your control, wouldn’t you still be wracked with grief over the loss of your child? It doesn’t make sense to go out, party, and be all smiles.

Something tells me this is more of a Susan Smith. This woman has a heart of ice. I am Casey’s age (I am 23) and I have no children. Most people my age like to go out and party and I have known quite a few women my age that take partying over being a mom.

    20. Just Bearly on August 8th, 2008 8:01 am

I’ve taken all this in for 3 weeks now…. When this all comes out in the wash, part of My impressions are that Cindy Anthony probably was giving Casey an ultimatum to leave the house and go out on her own already. I imagine discussions got heated to the extent Cindy and George were sick of supporting the two and keeping them at their house; at which point Casey flipped, (or began to flip and dwelled on what she was going to do) after those discussions came up repeatedly in previous weeks prior to June 9. That would maybe explain some why Cindy sounds as though she is trying to defend Casey at times in that perhaps Cindy has some self absorbed guilt or feels she partly to blame for the eventual outcome of events. I actually heard Cindy say earlier on in July, something to the effect that discussions (or more likely arguments) to the effect of Casey moving out may have been a trigger for this.

    21. Thoughts from the Peanut Gallery on August 8th, 2008 9:08 am

Skyboxx you hit on something that I’ve been wondering–when is the judge going to put a gag order on the family and her lawyers? It’s bad enough that the phone calls and visit tapes are being released (in terms of leading to a mistrial). The tape releases have stopped and I have to wonder if it’s because their is evidence in them or if the visit with George was the last or nearly last communication?

    22. misskatie on August 8th, 2008 11:55 am

it doesnt sound like casey to cut down a bambooo tree .. she doesnt seem like the type to do yard or gardening word.. I cant believe her parents bought that bogus story… maggie you have a point its possible a boyfriend or someone casey knew did something to caylee and shes afraid to say anything.. or out of anger she did it herself if caylee was getting on her nerves… or she could have left her home alone sleeping and gone partying……..OR
left her in the car while she shopped and caylee died there… explaining the smell cindy detected..
who knows but I no longer think caylee is alive… sadly … she is probably gone from this earth to be with jesus..

    23. misskatie on August 8th, 2008 11:56 am

      oops gardening work

anybody can be a mother but not everybody can be a mommy

    25. My theory on August 11th, 2008 12:29 am

Either that, Caylee got a hold of some drugs and died as a result, and Casey panicked and borrowed a shovel to bury her in the back yard, and she realizes, her parents are going to wonder where Caylee is, and the neighbor will say she borrowed a shovel, dug her up, put her in the trunk, stole gas to get where she needed to go and threw her in some water(Florida gator’s). Then abandons the car, with pocketbook inside to look like it was stolen. Can’t imagining needing (2) containers of gas to burn a body. Think about it Casey didn’t steal the gas to leave in the car and then her daughter dies from the fumes, I’m sure the caps were on or it would’ve splashed all over. You need gas, you got to put it in the “tank” to go somewhere. I can’t imagine her leaving the chard remains on the ground or taking the chance of someone seeing fire, smoke…”nah”. Then party on attitude and smiling a lot and inventing a “Phantom nanny” and “viola” to make it look like you’re not worried, so you don’t look guilty, even if she doesn’t want to smile. Obviously, she doesn’t really want to smile, she looks like a murderer to most people because of all the lies and partying.(And at best an irresponsible, partying, lying, child neglecter) Plus, her friends and family, will never look at her the same way again after this. What’s to be happy about? Not a damn thing! Casey says, Caylee’s in danger, because she’s looking back on it, hind-sight is 20/20, the baby was in danger being at a party, that one particular night.

      P.S.
I hope I am wrong, and Caylee’s safe, God bless you little baby.

    26. Thoughts from the Peanut Gallery on August 11th, 2008 9:10 am

I agree with you 100% misskatie.

I caught a sentence Cindy said during her two-hour interview with Greta–Cindy said that one of Casey’s friends had taken the car in for repair during the time she was gone…. WHAT???

    27. mary on August 13th, 2008 1:44 pm

I think Jun 16 is the important day, Cindy left on holidays either sunday nite or monday morning. caylee was seen early the week before.Something happened, maybe in the pool or in the hot car or maybe casey hurt her, but thats when she began the cover up. When Cindy phoned 911 she was in a panic. By the next day she had started to change her tune, the family knows what happened and now they have to cover up.

    28. james greenwell on August 15th, 2008 4:25 pm

      Let me say one thing.
(1), Mother only has gas in can.
(2). She barrows shovel from friend.
(3). She is out of pocket for a day.
(4). GrandMother smells dead body smell in auto.
Now where would you place a body. draw a time
line, check graveyards for any close on that
date. Dogs wont spot on them, you know they
would have to have a court order to check.
perfect hidding spot..right out in the open.
