Obama Campaign … We can Win Without Ohio or Florida … Win What, Dog Catcher?

Is this an admission that Obama cannot win key swing states?

Team Obama may want to get serious for a moment and put down the Kool-Aide. They actually stated that Obama’s path to the Presidency could include Virginia, Georgia and several Rocky Mountain states, but not necessarily the pair of battlegrounds that decided the last two elections, Florida and Ohio. Georgia? Yea, right!!! Let’s just disregard and lose Ohio and Florida like President Gore and President Kerry did. Oh, that’s right … they both lost those two states.

Others like the Political Machine seem to question the potential strategy to ignore battle ground states like Florida and Ohio. I would tend to agree. When one begins to dodge one battle ground states, there tends to be another and another after that. If swing states like OH and FL are being balked at by the Obama campaign, then doesn’t that play right into what Hillary Clinton was saying in the Democratic primaries as to why she was the more electable candidate? Clinton can win them and Obama cannot.

As Don Surber points out, the last person to win as President without Ohio or Florida was Thomas Jefferson in 1800. Yes, this was before either was an actual states, point well made.

      - Take the 2004 election. Give Ohio & Florida to McCain.
      - Let Obama take Colorado, Virginia and New Mexico (polls show him ahead or neck-neck in these states).

      Obama wins 278 to McCain’s 259.

So I guess you can win without Ohio & Florida. Neither state is required for victory. Gotta battle in all 50. But it will be interesting how far McCain’s money will go. Obama’s war chest is huge and he will try and make McCain spend in states he didn’t want to.

And let’s face it, there’s no reliability whatsoever in Florida’s voting system. Neither candidate should hang their hat on Florida and their “chads”. Nobody wants to see that debacle again.

OF course Obama can win without Ohio or Florida. Remember folks, there are at least 8 states that Obama knows about that the rest of us, including McCain, haven’t been told about. I wonder how many electoral votes each has.

That makes a lot of sense. I guess that’s why I always read your blog.

Actually, Obama could win w/o Ohio or Florida. Win all of Kerry’s states, hanging on to Michigan and New Hampshire, pick back up Iowa, New Mexico, and take Colorado. That would put him at 273. It is challenging, but not impossible.

I think capt senator mccain will come out tonight with his a4e skyhawk fully loaded with all weapons and he will have a direct hit on obama every time that he fires one of the many weapons that the skyhawk is equipted with.
