Lobster Empathy Center from PETA … Lobsters are People Too???

Just when you thought you had heard it all from PETA comes the following. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have sent a proposal to the Somerset County, ME commissioners to lease their jail for the world’s first Lobster Empathy Center. What’s next,  the Cockroach, Rat and Parasite Empathy Centers as well.

“A prison is the perfect setting to demonstrate how lobsters suffer when they are caught in traps or confined to cramped, filthy supermarket tanks,” PETA wrote in a June 2 letter to the commissioners. “The center will teach visitors to have compassion for these interesting, sensitive animals while also commemorating the millions of lobsters who are ripped from their homes in the ocean off the coast of Maine each year before being boiled alive.”

PETA, this is not a lobster … its a child in a lobster costume

More on the questioning of why sea cockroaches deserve more rights than people. Just when PETA does something intelligent like dog fighting awareness, they blow their credibility on nonsense. What will these people think of next?

Hey, PETA, do not eat any soy or corn. I have corn and soy beans flanking my home. I hear their screams at harvest time. People can be vegetables too, or is it vegetables can be people too????

I agree that the ad is over the top; however,
if animals are going to be eaten, they should be
      killed humanely.

Miss-U At the rate the developers are buying up the land and farms outside the city, the corn and soybeans may not be there for long. Every time I get outside the metro area I see another Target, WalMart and housing development. Used to be all corn fields out there.

As for lobsters, if they can feel pain, then keeping them confined and throwing them into boiling water would be inhumane. Where do we draw the line? It’s not ok to do this to kittens or bear cubs, but it’s ok for lobsters. Why? I don’t know what lobsters feel, physically or emotionally, but I don’t like the idea of throwing a living creature into boiling water or keeping a wild animal confined.

Maybe someone should check out PETA for craming a small baby in a pale…she doesn’y look to happy does she?

Folks ,,, FYI … the picture of the child in the lobster costume is not from PETA.

That was put on their by us to show the absurdity of their Lobster Empathy Center.

PETA could never think up something that twisted.

The point being is that PETA provides more rights for animals than humans.

Holy (Humanely) Homogenized Cow! I’ve really heard everything now. Lobsters feel pain & lobsters are people, too?

My first reaction when reading the headline was similar to da_wench’s in #1 just a little more colorful. What the?????????????????????????????
