Aruba, One Safe Island … Crime … Island Caribbean Paradise or Inner City, You Decide

It is billed as One Happy and Safe Island yet lately Aruba has resembled nothing more than a typical inner city with the crimes being committed. Drug arrests, murders, robberies and an abundance of traffic deaths one has to wonder what is going on in this tiny Caribbean Island. For many years Aruba prided itself on not being this way. Crimes existed on other islands. No longer. Places where people vacation are not supposed to be like inner cities. It is supposed to be a vacation. The travel agents may want to add an addendum to their brochures to warn tourists.

Aruba_arrest_dead

Maybe this is partially because the Aruban police consistently bring a knife to a gun fight, metaphorically speaking. Is it a standard practice to continually not arrest criminals due to a lack of evidence? There seems to be a pattern. It was not just Joran Van der Sloot who was released for lack of evidence in the case of missing Natalee Holloway. Interestingly enough, criminals always find a way to stay in trouble with the law.

… chief of police Peter de Witte didn’t want to say yet whether the police had indeed run up against a criminal network during a routine action.

The in Colombia born Hernan Tobias Quiñonez Villareal, popular as ‘El Flaco’, was guilty of several drug- and violent crimes.  He has been arrested before, but not convicted due to lack of evidence.

Suspect in the shooting tragedy still on the run (Amigoe: 4/28/2008)

Police officers carrying off the body of the 38-years old marksman ‘El Flaco’.

ORANJESTAD – The third suspect in the shooting tragedy, when a 38-year old man lost his life last Saturday morning, is still on the run.  The police arrested four persons during a house search; three of them are meanwhile released.  The police do not rule out more arrests in this case, whereby the police have probably run up against a huge network of drug dealers.

Yesterday during a press conference, chief of police Peter de Witte didn’t want to say yet whether the police had indeed run up against a criminal network during a routine action.  He did say though that the man that was shot to death last Saturday was an ‘old friend’ of the police.  The in Colombia born Hernan Tobias Quiñonez Villareal, popular as ‘El Flaco’, was guilty of several drug- and violent crimes.  He has been arrested before, but not convicted due to lack of evidence.  He was deported after this case, and was most probably back on the island as an illegal person.  He was driving with two other persons on the Caya Betico Croes last Saturday, when the police signaled them to stop near Hooiberg.  When they refused to do so, the police forced them by cornering their car.  The three suspects fled and hid behind a house.  El Flaco pulled a heavy caliber gun and fired on the police officers and injured the left arm of one of them.  Both police officers fired back and killed El Flaco.  His gun was found next to his body.

We don’t know whether the other two suspects have also fired at the police officers.  They fled towards the very thickly wooded Hooiberg.  One was arrested real soon.  The police didn’t release the identity of the two men, of which one is still on the run.  It is not sure whether the police assume that this fugitive is still in Aruba.  Justice raided two housed after the shooting tragedy and arrested four men and found drugs.  Three of the four arrestees are already released.  “We do not rule out that more arrests will follow”, said De Witte yesterday.  After interrogations, the four passengers of a car that was stopped near Piedra Plat on Saturday morning seemed to have nothing to do with the shooting tragedy.

This shooting incident so shortly after the incident in December, made the police officers realize that it can also happen to either one of them.  The officer that was injured is doing reasonably well.  De Witte explains that after the incident in December, the police corps has taken the criticism to increase the safety of the officers, very seriously.  “Both colleagues were wearing their bullet free jacket last Saturday.  But also the community has a responsibility.  As a society, we must not think that this is normal.  The corps has made the possession, dealing, and using of firearms one of their priorities, but the society is also responsible.”

He urges people to report illegal firearms and/or keepers of these via the anonymous tip-line 1141.

What ever happened to the Urin8er is he still in the nut house ??? Any word on the legal actions agenst the sloots ???
Just wanting to catch up !!! Almost looks like this case is dead to the media and news :(
      God Bless the Holloways !!!

    2. A New Girl on April 29th, 2008 8:29 am

Sadly, as the days turn into weeks and the story has not been in the media again…I feel that nothing will ever happen to bring the Holloways any true justice. =(

So, the best anyone can hope for is that by some miracle of God–another substantial private donation or other contributions can put PERSISTENCE back at sea? They said they had identified so many targets, but have run out of money.

As we approach the 3rd Anniversary of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance and death, I ask for help for a spirit more powerful than us.

Lord, Jesus Christ, we know you died for our sins. We still believe in you and will accept whatever you give us, and still honor you. Through God, we know that all things are possible. Please show us the way.

I don’t know what else to do but pray.

      -Justice for Natalee

Buster (#1) … There are reports that Joran is off roaming around Thailand. I haven’t found any confirmation of them in the regular media, and there may be reason to think the “photos” of him are faked.

Wherever the scum is, let’s hope he’s in hell mentally.

This quote from the article above is interesting:

“As a society, we must not think that this is normal. The corps has made the possession, dealing, and using of firearms one of their priorities, but the society is also responsible.”

What’s this? If Aruba is “one safe, happy island,” as we have been told repeatedly, why are the police criticizing society?

Can it be that they don’t believe this pabulum any more than we do? Very interesting … maybe the Aruba police will sue their tourism board.

Meanwhile, I guess Arubans will have to get used to this sort of thing (as if the Pitbull case wasn’t enough). Seems like their government, rather than provide answers in Natalee’s case, is determined to keep seeking tourists wherever it can.

And they were crowing about the influx of Colombians. Hey, Arubans, don’t blame us … try blaming your own government, and speaking up for justice.

Next discovery: Aruba’s cops, and half their government, are in cahoots with the drug dealers (the big-time ones, I mean, not the punks like the Kalpoes). No wonder nobody has moved to disbar PvdScum ….

    4. Richard on April 29th, 2008 8:58 am

By the way, there’s an article out today on Pitcairn Island, that “island paradise” in the South Pacific originally settled by those crew members who took part in the famous Mutiny on the Bounty.

It’s too long to paste here, but apparently, on this insular island, child abuse and sexual assault had become a way of life and was accepted as normal. Few girls remained virgins by age 12.

Australia apparently is taking action against some of the locals, who are furious at “outsiders” coming in and breaking up “local customs.”

Moral: There IS no “island paradise.” Aruba certainly has shown the falsity of this myth. And the myth itself has been exploded.

    5. Miss Katie on April 29th, 2008 9:02 am

maybe if people are losing their small businesses .. the kalpoes will loose the internet cafe qand have to resort to beggin on the streets

    6. Sasha on April 29th, 2008 9:03 am

Yep, this is what I was talking about on Saturday/Sunday. It finally made it to the news. I was trying to tell Esther about it. There are soooo many guns on the streets on the island. All it takes is to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Just too much. And I think all those people were partying at Senor Frogs earlier in the night. What if a fight broke out there and they started shooting? Then the results would have been a million times worst. They don’t even search for guns and weapons at the doors of the clubs.

    7. brie. on April 29th, 2008 12:22 pm

Be careful over there Sasha….flying bullets…Senor Frogs has a reputation of just pouring Tequila down your throat…..if they are drinking and carrying weapons the odds would be something disastrous….wish you safety!!!!

    8. brie. on April 29th, 2008 12:30 pm

Not complete lack of hope if Beth can continue on with her civil suit…which I hope she does!!! Joran and the Kalpoes cannot get away with this….!!!

new girl #2…..pray everyday and boycott aruba in every way, shape and form you can. spread the word about natalee’s case. wear the tee shirts, hand out brochures, flyers, etc. it may seem like a small thing to do, but i wear my boycott aruba/still missing tee every chance i get. i’ve also purchased a couple of others from cafepress.com. people always ask me some sort of question about natalee’s case. i’m more than obliged to fill them in. i carry some homemade brochures that i printed myself, i keep a few in my tote or purse, i hand them out. every little thing you can do to get the word out helps the cause. and pray every day for justice for natalee.

    10. Patti on April 29th, 2008 1:57 pm

You know Oduber has money invested in drugs and guns. Who do you think his militants are? Just the word, militant, is an indication that they carry weapons… Probably, bigger than the POLICE! There are so many drugs down there, they offer it to anyone… young and old. To them, it’s no big deal.

I really like the way the article is written, asking the people to report the illegal ownership of any firearms… I hope they get some response. But when you’re dealing with crack heads and cocaine blowers…

Like the Beatles said, there’s nothing like sleeping with a “warm gun”.

Those people are dangerous without their coke… but, more so, because of their state of mind. THEY’re CRAZY! Paranoid and shit.

      The LAST person

you’d want to have a gun

      in thier hands.

My thoughts and prayers are with the officer, who was injured because of making a routine stop. I pray for complete recovery.

Everyone knows there are clean cops, as well.

      .

Periodically, I get some Military Information on my computer… for some reason. And one of them were congratulating a navy crew for confiscating more than 20 TONS, 40,000 pounds of Cocaine while doing a sweep through Aruba, Columbia, through the Panama Canal and up the South Pacific.

      AWESOME!

I DONT GO TO SENOR FROGS or near any of those clubs/streets in downtown at nights. It is very unsafe with all the gangsters, drug dealers and also just kids HIGH on drugs and alcohol driving like crazy.

Also, there was another death on the island over the weeknend. Another guy overdosed on drugs and causing problems in downtown. The police arrested him and he died at the police station from the overdose.

    13. Crioyo on April 29th, 2008 3:24 pm

Yeah Richard. Joran appears to be in Thailand … Dutch tourists spotted him and taped him in Bangkok. Footage aired last night on RTL Boulevard. He still wears the same baseball cap.

Saw on one of the blogs the reason Joran always wears a cap, it’s not necessarily for a disguise, he’s balding! Although one of the Thailand pictures shows him sporting a full head of longer hair…hope its a wig or an artful comb-over. Hey, I wish him all the human frailties known to man…baldness, acne, colitis, halitosis, stuttering, toothache, ear wax, psoriasis, impotence, b.o., and every STD known, and all of those readily available in Thailand.

    24. Sasha on April 29th, 2008 6:18 pm

Thanks for all your concerns. I am very very very careful. They dont know I know about this site and I dont even mention it to anyone. I dont trust anyone on the island.

As for the economy and the tourism, well, they had an okay season. Last year was the worst. To be honest, the Holloway case might have effected the tourism for the first year or two. But things have been a bit more steady. The truth is, some people might say, the Holloway case was just a one time thing and it can happen anywhere, so they dont really pay too much attention to that UNFORTUNATELY…BUT when they do see the crime with their own eyes, or when they are constantly being approached by drug dealers, or they get robbed in their hotel rooms and/or the street, then they realize things.

The tourist for the most part stay at their resort, though and all they see and read is the Aruba Today newspaper, which it only talks about the new restaurants and the repeat guests that come to Aruba every year. It’s just a Marketing newspaper. The tourist never ever get to see the real Aruba newspaper that reports on all the crime, problems, accidents, etc…So again, for the most part, the tourist have no idea what is really going on until they experience something bad when they are in downtown. But it will just be a matter of time for them to start seeing things.

Yes, I have a J4N Totebag that I got from JusticeforNatalee (Vicki) and believe me, I do get the word out to all who will listen when the time is appropriate.

I have donated monetarily where I could, and will continue to do so. I was unable to attent the protest in Boston, but I have written and appealed to every circuit available.

You are right- it may not seem like much- but every little bit helps.

I still don’t think justice will ever be properly served which is why I brought praying and God into my last post….It is all one can do.

      Thanks, Sasha.

You’re so sweet to do this, but like Katie says, you need to be real careful. Oduber and the Minister of Justice, Rudy Croes, doesn’t like anyone talking to us. So, please, continue to keep it a secret and don’t meet with anyone you don’t know.

      I only have one question:

Do you think Oduber can be overthrown?

From the sounds of it, this guy, Flaco, was a repeat offender but was never convicted due to lack of evidence. What does the name Flaco mean?

      Stay safe!

#25…No I dont know where the van der sloot’s home is exactly. I never really cared and I never drove down that road. As far as I know the family is still living there. Their youngest son is graduating next month from the International School of Aruba. So, the family is still definitely on the island.

As for the lighthouse, I thought they were doing some construction to it. But I never heard about someone jumping from it. I will sure findout, though. Also, no I have never ever seen teenagers swimming by the lighthouse. It’s really not a good area for swimming.

This is an extra long weekend on the island. Starting tomorrow, most places are closed to celebrate the Queen’s b.day and also it’s Labor day. So, I am confident (unfrotunately), there will be a lot of problems this week. I will keep you all posted.

Sasha, what a load of nonsense you tell here about Aruba, you make it sound like it’s a crossover betweem Sodom & Gomorrah and Easten Germany. While in fact it still is paradise, it has the hassles every modern society has, but it’s still a great place to be. If not the best place ! You can magnify every little detail which ever happened on the island and make it look very bad. You can do that with any place in the world. Stop telling lies like you know what is going on here on Aruba, you clearly don’t. Relax, take a beer, have a bbq and enjoy the beach. You are just enjoying the sympathy of the o so scared monkeys here. Te Aworo ! (btw there still are loads of American tourists here, great, bon bini !)

there is absolutely no rationale for believing that aruba is one iota safer than anywhere else in the world to anyone who reads their own newspapers. aruba is lying to the rest of the world about how safe it is, particularly for tourists who try to drive on the island or go off the beaten path at all. and if aruban tourism minister wasn’t lying, and the whole caribbean region is using aruba as a model for law enforcement in cases like natalee’s, you’d have to be plumb nuts to vacation anywhere in the region.

DON, it is this simple. A girl disappeared in Aruba, after going off in a car with three local boys.

They have lied ever since, and Aruba seems to
back them in this. Natalee Holloway never seen

Sorry, but I do care. I think what happened to Nathalee was awfull. It’s hard to accept that whohever harmed her is not arrested yet. I also believe Joran is the killer. It would be a shame if he would get away with it. But our (Dutch) legal system is strange in some cases. I hope he gets arrested in Thailand for drugs or something and ends up for 20 years in a nasty jail. But the way you project this case on Aruba and the Aruban society has nothing to do with justice. Most of you talk nonsense about Aruba, maybe never even visited it. you read the Amigoe and thats it. Again, you can make a caricature of any society in that way, of every hometown you might live in. If you are so much for justice here you should know that no individual Aruban is reponsible for the government and law enforcement. Just as you in the US are not responsible for the acts of your government. Or is the blood of all te Iraqi children and killed US soldiers on your hands as well ?

      Don,

I am just saying things as they are. If I feel like people on this site are wrong, I will also say so. I just say the truth and what I personally see.

All I want you to do is keep up with all the news that happens in Aruba. Read the ARUBAN newspapers like bondia or solo di pueblo. Go to http://www.24ora.com or to http://www.awe24.com Just do that for a couple of weeks and analyze everything yourself. It’s the reality. Like I said, there is crime everywhere in the world. But if you do the math and the statistics, Aruba is only 17 miles long with less than 100,000 people. The crime rate is very high right now. For example, there were 2 shootings in one weekend. That’s a lot for a small tiny island. Even all Arubans say so. If there was 2 shootings a year, then that’s more reasonable, but not so many problems on a weekly basis. Again, do the math, and think about statistics. It’s very high.

And if you read my posting above, I told the people on the site that the touris is NOT as bad as they think they are. I even said some tourist dont pay much attention about the Holloway case, so I am not agreeing with everything they say, I am just saying the truth. But I do feel like these tourist will eventually see all the crime and many of them will stop coming to Aruba if the crime rate continues to be so high.

Again, Don, just please read the papers and try to see things for yourself.

“They have lied ever since, and Aruba seems to
back them in this. Natalee Holloway never seen

      - who is Aruba in this ? all of the people of Aruba ? the government ? the Aruban media ? do you think we voted on this subject ?

“Then you people attacked her family while they
were trying to desperately find their baby.”
      - which people attacked her ? all 100.000 inhabitants of Aruba ? who is you people ?

Generalizing people because of where they live or where they come from is a very dangerous habit. It has cost millions of people their lives throughout history. Look only to what you people did to the indians once living in your country. The fact that Arubans have indian blood makes it probably a lot easier for you to display your fascist hate towards Arubans.

You really think that you are a better person than me beacuse you live in the US and I live in Aruba.

It was not American at first. It was the European countries that did in the Native Indian. After 1776 you can say it was the Americans from European decent. After 1820 it was pure greed. Almost like what the Dutch did with the Aruban gold that was removed and taken back to The Neterlands.
So tit for tat. Let’s try to keep the subject to one missing teenage American and the Aruban cover up and just what happened and why no convictions.
By the way the Ameican Indians still live in America. And in case you did not realize the Hard Rock Cafes are owned by the Seminole Indians,,,,,

      don…
your mistaking the big picture, dude!!!! yes, aruba is a beautiful island. been there 4 times… 4give me monkeys, but 4 times since 2004. wont go back though. i see the island of aruba soon becoming like most others, where you are safe only within the resort boundaries. may not happen NOW, but, it will. you see, DON, as beautiful as your island is, as hard as it is for established visitors to give up, in time, those of us who patiently await justice for a beautiful young woman who’s life was- with obvious suspicions of foul play- taken away from her family and friends… in time my dear don, aruba will always have “the holloway case” as their darkest shadow. i loved aruba, i hoped beyond hope that the guilty would be punished and that all could move on. you come off as having a defensive personality disorder, one which belittles your words. anyway you look at it, a crime was committed against natalee- a crime that will haunt aruba for a life time….funny thing is, if it wasnt natalee, something sooner or later was going to change aruba and its reputation. you see, don, nothing is perfect forever. you can only get away with hidden secrets and corruption for so long before it bits you in the behind. it would have simply been easier to have own up to what happend there on your sweet paradise island almost 3 years ago, than to have to deal with the consequences now, even if they happen so gradually that you dont see it immediately. on another note, monkeys again forgive me, but, if anything, natalee is always going to be the reason WHY aruba will always have questions to answer, and the reasons why we have all become so aware of safety issues, our trust levels and especially learning to tolerate others who dont have the maturity to see and understand that the beauty of a human life is much more precious than the beauty of an island. for this gift natalee represents, i am thankful!

    74. kiltie65 on April 30th, 2008 2:41 pm

Said it before, but doesn’t it seem Joran is a modern day “remittance man”. His family PAY him to stay away. Are they prepared to support him for life, because I can’t see anyone ever wanting to employ him (well, maybe he has ambitions for that pot farm somewhere, some day?) Maybe Van der Sloots’ funds are drying up and it’s cheaper to maintain him in Thailand than elsewhere? A lot of the world’s sickos/losers end up in Thailand (John Karr was one) Thai’s are big on gambling…I’m sure Joran will end up overextending himself at the tables…and they play rough if you can’t ante up.

    75. Carpe on April 30th, 2008 3:07 pm

      Don,

Read the first line in this paragraph…

      Then the last sentence.

“Generalizing people because of where they live or where they come from is a very dangerous habit. It has cost millions of people their lives throughout history. Look only to what you people did to the indians once living in your country. The fact that Arubans have indian blood makes it probably a lot easier for you to display your fascist hate towards Arubans.”

      Do you see a conflict?

I just wish Aruba would shut the f. up,
and get that idiot HANS MOS to actually
work for his money… and snag Joran
& the Kalpoes, and bring those losers in
for a trial. Like, a real trial… like
a real country, with a real legal system.

    76. Maggie on April 30th, 2008 3:14 pm

I am sure Natalee was given a big warm welcome when she arrived in Aruba and all thought she would spend her dollars on the island.. Come dance in Aruba..Aruba is a fair weather friend.

Once Natalee became a victim of a crime on the island, people went out of their way to call just that girl, only one person, a tramp, a drunk, a lesbian, a racist, not to mention the same being done to her family. Name me one person in Aruba who went out and stood up to the govt.. for justice for Natalee Holloway in Aruba, other than Jossy Mansur? 3 days after Natalee was missing, 2 of the police stations on the island wasn’t even aware Natalee was missing. Beth went to the police station the morning after arriving to give her statement, and Dennis Jacobs,, didn’t have time to take it, he had to shave, have his frosted flakes, and coffee..not to mention using nasty slang words for females around her and Jug. When Dave arrived, he was asked how much money he had and go to Carlos n Charlies and have a beer, but watch out they might drug him.. Dennis Jacobs.. What an honorable policeman for victims rights. How about Dompig related to the Kalpoes, cousin of Boeti, son Michael Joran’s friend tells everyone for 2 and half months on tv, they think Natalee was buried by the lighthouse, then reburied after she overdosed herself. After announcing it for months 3 months later got a search group to look. What an honorable policeman trashing a victim he has no clue about. Van der Straten, as Paulus said worked with him for 8 years, knew them all, friend of the family.. He had good solid evidence against the 2 security guards..where did it go? or this statement by Tim Miller.. of Stratens.. Where did that stuff go..this interview was middle of July 2005.

MILLER: I’ve spent a lot of time with the Police Commissioner van der Straaten, and he told me that he has got enough stuff without a body for prosecution. Our deal is to bring Natalee home. That family needs that body. They need to be able to say goodbye and start their healing process.

Natalee is not alive. I’m sorry. And somebody knows. And now we’re starting to get angry our own self. We’re searchers over here on their island, but now I’m getting angry.

      http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0507/12/lkl.01.html

Why did he said around June 5, he believes Natalee is dead, he seen the evidence? What an honorable policemen, sure fled fast.

Maybe someone can answer why… Aruba posts on it’s home site..NOONE UNDER 18 ALLOWED IN CASINOS and yet Paulus took his underage son that night out to a casino and then went home(so he says) and left his underage son there to gamble.. Not just that night, other nights Joran is in the casinos gambling..as well as the next night 3am..and nothing has been done to Paulus, or Joran or the casinos. After all it was Paulus taking his son there that put the whole sorry night into play. of course after Paulus went home to bed(and I’m liz taylor).

Don’t forget after Paulus took him underage,, Anita appeared on Dutch tv and said they took Joran to a counselor once for gambling..one time.. after his father was the one who took him that night lol…… She made this statement, Like Paulus would take him to the police station if he was doing anything wrong..Would he turn himself in too Anita? Pathetic..

“If we would have had any feeling that he was involved in something, Paul would have taken him to the police station and said: ‘Here, hold him, he did something. He deserves his punishment,’” Anita van der Sloot said

    80. Sasha on April 30th, 2008 5:40 pm

I agree with #73 completely. Aruba is becoming like many other islands, where you are really mostly safe in your resort. However the big difference is in PRICE. You can do a 7 day all inclusive including air fare in other islands for around $600.00 per person. In Aruba is 3x-4x more. And that’s why Aruba has lost a lot of tourist to Jamaica and ESPECIALLY DOMINICAN REPUBLIC…The only thing that was very special about Aruba years ago was the fact that it was safe and you could leave your resort without any worries. All that has changed and is getting worst. And people will really soon see that.

      Hey!

      Not so fast…

      .

      Don:

I can see how you’d feel that way and I appreciate your attempts to communicate your feelings, but the fact is that your government pulled a bunch of monkey business with Natalee and the Holloway family to cover up something that Oduber describes as embarrassing.

I don’t know about you, but most adults have seen alot. We have children that are being abducted, sexually abused and murdered all the time. We have people paying good money to go on the internet to watch the human suffering that takes place during the carrying out of these crimes. We have it here, you have it there and the Dutch has it everywhere. To me, that’s as low as they come.

So we are not only interested in finding Natalee, but we are curious as to what happened to her and why you have people that are found missing their limbs, heads and other body parts buried in the sand… washing upon your shores and discovered in dark caves. It appears to us that there is more going on in Aruba than people like to admit.

So, please, if you know who we should hate, please tell us so we can get started right away. We know the history of your island. We know about the human trafficking. We know about the drug networks. We know about the trading of XXX rated videos between Aruban and Dutch. We also know that there is a sex ring running what is commonly known as sex tourism in Aruba, as well. But it is the practices of the Arawak that are especially telling.

      So Please,

      Do Tell!

Vicki and Brie: You are all welcome for whatever I can do for Natalee and justice. In case you haven’t been to Houston, the George R. Brown Center is downtown, surrounded by parking lots and a hotel. There is no reasonable place to eat. Plus, if you leave your parking lot, which might cost you $10-$15, you have to repay when you come back.! So, I brought lunch, because I like parties lol, and because it would have been an unreasonable fortune for our people to get lunch.

It is discouraging to wait and wait, except for reading posts like Carpe’s hilarous post above. The wheels of justice grind slowly, but they do grind. When God says that vengeance is His, He really means it. God’s judgement is coming down on Aruba. The evil there is being exposed and the evil ones are having more trouble than they know what to do with.

Aruba could have saved herself by bringing justice to those perps right away. Instead, they covered and covered up the crimes that they did to Natalee. God is bringing down that island in several different ways. More and more bad things will happen to Aruba until there is repentance. The good people who are left better catch Noah’s Ark and get off that island.

Hey, Monkeys….Is Herman really a troll? lol

I cannot understand what he is trying to say….if he is from the NL, that pretty much explains it…Does he post on here right after he just finishes smoking a BIG FAT ONE???

UhHhhhhhhhmmmm… Hello! Earth to Herman?? But why does he say Nat is alive? That creeps me out. I know in my heart and knew a long time ago that Natalee was dead and killed by Joran. I maintain to this day, she od’d b/c they slipped her drugs and she had already been drinking heavily. Then, when she began her convulsion- URINE panicked and got rid of her body. What makes my skin crawl is that IT DIDN’T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY!!!!!!! She could have just been unconscious and what gave that Son-Of-A-Bitch the RIGHT to decide to end her life and not seek Emergency Medical treatment for our Nat?

It’s obvious, he raped her- his semen was in her body and he knew if she were found he would be looking at rape charges. Not to mention, I think she was possibly beaten. Deepak Kalpoe raped her I am CERTAIN !

I still don’t know if she was later moved to the Mariott Basin, if she really WAS in that landfill or if she was dumped at Sea. My heart tells me, she is in the Ocean.

I just found out today that a good friend of mine is dying of Cancer-she has a 16 year old daughter. It has not been a good day- so when I think of Natalee Ann Holloway- her Mother Beth and Father Dave, my eyes tear up.

When I think of families who have had the horror of having to bury a child before they leave this planet….waterworks! It brings tears to my eyes every time.

All Beth and Dave Holloway want is justice and closure. Ok, they have accepted Natalee is dead and gone. They want her body.

Does anyone know if the Persistence can go back out to Sea again? Are they just waiting for more money as I am aware the funding was depleted.

Where is OPRAH WINFREY or someone with so much money they can help us?????? Why do people sit by and not do anything to help the Holloways further??? I came home from work today and saw my totebag hanging on the coat rack and I thought of Natalee, and I thought of a teenage girl who will one day be WITHOUT her Mother, and I have to say- today I cried again for every family who has ever lost someone who is dear to them.

Life is so so short…..We must cherish every second while we are still here.

FYI if anyone has time to read……ONE SAFE AND HAPPY ISLAND my butt…..
(from The national Ledger) “Natalee Holloway is Not Aruba’s Only Crime Problem”

When Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway went missing in Aruba, America and the world began to take a close look at the island. The way they have handled the Natalee Holloway case has put the tiny islands’ police department and courts under a high powered microscope. But if you think the disappearance of Natalee Holloway is Aruba’s only problem when it comes to the issues of crime, think again.

Located only 20 miles off the coast of Venezuela, the island paradise of Aruba serves as a transshipment point for illicit drugs—primarily cocaine from South America. Smugglers generally move large loads of cocaine into Aruba on fishing vessels, private yachts, and go-fast boats. They also move drugs out of Aruba inside maritime containerized cargo and airfreight. Drug trafficking organizations continue to exploit Aruba’s air and sea links to the continental United States, South America, Europe, Puerto Rico, and other Caribbean nations. Most of the cocaine transiting Aruba is destined for European markets—primarily the Netherlands.

Aruba has large free-zone facilities (areas that allow goods to be held and then re-shipped elsewhere without paying an import or duty tax), which provide opportunities for bulk shipments of cocaine to transit the area without the scrutiny of local officials. Cocaine shipments in containerized cargo increasingly are transiting the area, specifically through the free zone. The free-zone facilities on Aruba are conducive to transshipments, not only of drugs, but also chemicals used in illicit manufacture of drugs. Some firms in the free zone are suspected of involvement in money laundering.

Couriers on commercial flights and cruise ships smuggle small (usually from 1- to 10-kilogram) amounts of cocaine and, to a lesser extent, heroin, into and out of Aruba, either concealed in their luggage or taped to their bodies. Commercial air couriers, sometimes swallow up to 1 kilogram of cocaine or heroin per trip. Drug couriers easily blend into the hundreds of thousands of tourists who visit Aruba each year.

The proximity of Aruba to South America, a high standard of living in Aruba, and an underdeveloped law enforcement infrastructure make the country an attractive meeting place for South American, European, and U.S. drug traffickers. Colombian traffickers play a major role in the shipments of cocaine and heroin that transit the island, having forged trafficking relationships with local Arubans. In the past, some airline employees and cruise-ship personnel have smuggled drugs through Aruba.

Aruba plays a significant role as an offshore center for drug-related money laundering. Money laundering organizations are well established on Aruba and enjoy protection from considerable bank secrecy laws and a stable currency. The organizations use Aruba’s offshore banking and incorporation systems, free-zone areas, and resort/casino complexes to transfer and to launder drug proceeds. Although money laundering was made illegal in 1999, the legislation requires a provable underlying crime with a penalty of at least 4 years. The Government of Aruba also has an asset-seizure law that allows for seizure at the time of arrest to prevent criminals from moving assets prior to conviction.

The Government of Aruba has recently issued several decrees on money laundering that include increased oversight of casinos and insurance companies. The Government of Aruba also is in the process of instituting reporting requirements for cross-border currency movements in excess of 20,000 Aruban florins (approximately US$11,200). Aruba has a Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), known as the Meldpunt Ongebruikelijke Transacties (MOT), and is a member of the Egmont Group, an international group of FIUs.

Aruba is not a source country for any of the chemicals used in illicit drug production and has no specific legislation controlling essential chemicals. Difficulties abound when attempting to gauge the levels of chemical transshipment through Aruba, as most chemicals legally pass through Aruba’s Free Trade Zone—an area in which local law enforcement has limited oversight due to local regulations and manpower shortages. The reporting of chemicals transiting the island is strictly voluntary.

The Aruba Organized Crime Unit, a small investigative team of the Aruba Police, or Politie, has responsibility for investigating large-scale drug trafficking crimes. The Coast Guard of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba (CGNAA) is responsible for maritime drug interdictions around Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles. The Governments of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba have agreed to work more closely with the other coast guards operating in the region in order to present a united front against drug trafficking. The CGNAA has its own Criminal Intelligence Division (CID) which is separate from the Politie. However, due to Dutch law, unless the CGNAA can demonstrate that a given vessel is either coming from or going to territorial waters of the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba, any drug law enforcement, other than an administrative boarding, is considered illegal. Dutch investigators also support law enforcement investigations in the Netherlands Antilles.

Cocaine, heroin, and marijuana are readily available in Aruba. Wholesale amounts of cocaine sell for from US$3,800 to US$4,500 per kilogram among drug traffickers; heroin sells for about US$23,000 per kilogram; and marijuana sells for about US$2,000 per kilogram. These low prices suggest a heavy flow of drugs into Aruba. According to Aruban statistics, an estimated 14 percent of Arubans regularly use illicit drugs.

Aruba serves as one of two forward operating locations (FOLs) in the Caribbean for U.S. counterdrug aircraft. The FOL, located at Queen Beatrix Airport near Oranjestad, provides a landing and servicing area for counterdrug detection and monitoring missions in the region. The United States and Aruba do not have a formal maritime law enforcement agreement.

      Nice Find… Kaye!

So it’s official (CIA, DEA, etc) that Aruba is dealing in illegal activities, day after day; just as we suspected. Funny how the article says that the U.S. and Aruba don’t have a formal maritime law enforcement agreement. That would mean that the U.S. doesn’t have the authority to search the free-zone and if the government of Aruba isn’t doing it now, they are probably making money off of it. When I say government, I am, specifically, refering to the Elite. But, surely, anyone could afford to invest in a drug dealing operation at those prices!

I’m glad the word is getting out and they’re giving alot of credit to us, by keeping our fellow citizens informed.

      And that reminds me…

Remember the story of Miss Bradley? She was reported to be held as a prostitute near the shipping docks. It was reported months later when the American man that she had given her real name and asked for help, finally, put it together that she was being held against her will… at which point some men came and got her. He, reportedly, said that he wondered why no one in the shipping yard was willing to help her and thought that it was strange… in fact, that’s why he didn’t believe her at first because there were plenty of people around that COULD have helped her.

It makes me wonder if they use the “free zone” to do their human trafficking, from the Netherlands and back… along with the drugs.

in all seriousness there probably is no functioning 911 in aruba

remember its been said that the police turn their head the other way when it comes to complaints by americans….

they hate americans.. but love the money we bring to their island..

      which miss patti??
      WHY DO THEY HATE AMERICANS
many countries hate us.. because we are a prosperous country ..
      we have freedom..

      ????????????????????????????????????????????

    140. misskatie on May 1st, 2008 8:40 pm

      WELL MOLLY
It seems that carlos and charlies had to change their name… because of all the bad publicity on drugs..

once a snake always a snake!!

THERE IS NO CHANGE OTHER THAN THE NAME
      BUSINESS AS USUAL THERE

      TALK ABOUT BAD VIBES

EVERYTIME I SEE A PICTURE OF THE KALPOE BROTHERS… I GET A TERRIBLE CHILL

      THOSE TWO ARE EVIL………..

    142. Bob on May 1st, 2008 8:51 pm

Jossy has been very silent for quite a while. Nary a peep, who got to him? Oduber? Drug connections? I am still facinated at that piece “The Rothschilds of the Mafia on Aruba”, written by Tom Blickman. A bit dated, but mention above of the Free Trade Zone, where drugs are reported to be moved, reminded me of the following:

“The Interbank is owned by the Mansur Family. If anybody owns 60 per cent of the island, it is this powerful family. The Mansurs made their fortune as cigarette manufacturers and in the import-export business. With a licence of Philip Morris, they are the major suppliers of Marlboros in the Caribbean basin. The Mansurs sponsor the best baseball team – Aruba’s national sport – the Marlboro Red Tigers as well as the AVP party of Prime Minister Henny Eman. They own the biggest hotel and time-sharing complex, La Cabana, with its inevitable casino. And they have a couple of import-export businesses in the Free Trade Zone.

Jossy Mansur is the owner and chief editor of the biggest newspaper on the island, “Diario”. “When I read an article in Diario, I know what will be the next action of the government,”says Hendrik Croes, adding that the Mansurs create a climate of fear and intimidation on Aruba. Their newspapers force others off the market. Furthermore, “their annual income is bigger than the yearly budget of the government. And you may guess how they make that kind of money”.”Jossy Mansur is not impressed claiming that accusing people of drug trafficking and money laundering “has become a political tool to discredit them”.” Jossy Mansur acts as the family’s mouthpiece, Ruben and the elder Alex are the patriarchs, and Elias ‘Don’ Mansur is the family’s whizz-kid. Elias graduated at Notre Dame University, and was Minister of Economic Affairs in Eman’s first cabinet. As representative for the Free Trade Zone entrepreneurs in a mixed Dutch-Aruban commission he has to recommend measures to tighten regulations in the FTZ to prevent money laundering and contraband, together with Dutch government officials.

We still don’t know for certain, do we, that Joran van der Scum is in Thailand? I search daily on the mainstream media for news about the scum … and sometimes I check the Thai papers … nothing yet.

I believe that the article above by Jim Kouri about the Aruban drug trade is several years old.
Of course, it’s as true today as it was then.

Patti … do you really have amusement parks in your area that have bumper cars? I remember those when I was a kid … back when Benjamin Harrison was president. Lots of fun then; they were called the Dodgems. Frankly, it’s reassuring that such “innocent” things persist.

As for Amy Bradley … the petty officer who went to the off-limits bar (it was in an abandoned hotel that later burned down, or was burned down) passed an FBI polygraph.

We know for certain that drug couriers go from Aruba to the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe.
The Dutch say that they are getting a handle on this problem; whether that’s so, who knows?

We also know that there have been several cases in the Caribbean where the Dutch military personnel (marines and navy) sent to combat the drug trade have actually tried to bring some cocaine back on the very military vessels sent to disrupt the drug trade.

Anyone care to speculate on how much gets through Aruban police?

Also, some yachts have been caught bringing drugs from the Caribbean to the Canary Islands, apparently a convenient trans-shipment center.

What else can be transported on yachts?

There remains strong reason to think that Amy Bradley is still alive, given recent sightings.

    144. Richard on May 1st, 2008 9:01 pm

Remember … it’s been demonstrated time and time again: arms trafficking, drug trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering are all intertwined … not in every case, of course, but the same criminal cartels are involved in all of them.

    149. Don on May 2nd, 2008 1:43 am

Sasha, you stay off the roads during weekends ??? That’s pathetic. It’s says more about you than about Aruba. Stay inside, lock the doors and get plenty of bottled water and canned food. Aruba is going down !! (not)

    150. Don on May 2nd, 2008 1:48 am

Carpe, Aruba is famous for it’s beautiful, QUIET, beaches. Even in high season some beaches look as if there is no-one there. You are getting excited too early.

Miss Katie “Sasha should make conversation with island natives” My god. You were born a few centuries too late. Maybe she can try to win the hearts and minds of the locals with some mirrors and beads.
      ________________
SM: That is not really true. That used to be what people looked for before trips were given away on The Price is Right. Aruba is hardly considered a destination to not be bothered. Their appeal is to the masses.

Granted the beaches never look like Daytona, but when one goes there the beaches are hardly vacant, at least not in their hay day. Trust me, I have been there when there was not a beach chair or cabana to be found.

Their tourism is no where near what it used to be.
