Barack Obama … Is this the Change that America Needs? Obama’s Small Town Comments …

Barack Obama has put his foot in his mouth one more time. This time making Obama5reference to “Small Town” America at a fund raiser in San Francisco, CA. The man who says he is a leader of all, hardly talks the talk. Is Barack Obama really what he or the media portray him to be? Is he really Presidential material?

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

McCain camp responds to Obama’s “small town” remarks.

Transcript of Barack Obama’s comments at San Francisco fundraiser

And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

UPDATE I: Hillary Clinton Fires back at Obama’s Comments on Faith and Guns.

First Hillary Clinton commented on Obama’s comments that Pennsylvania’s were bitter. Now she hammers Obama on the rest of his comments in which he linked economic frustration to clinging to religion and guns.

Watch the VIDEO

“Sen. Obama’s remarks are elitist, and they are out of touch,” Clinton said. “The people of faith I know don’t ‘cling to’ religion because they’re bitter. … I also disagree with Sen. Obama’s assertion that people in this country ‘cling to guns’ and have certain attitudes about immigration or trade simply out of frustration. People of all walks of life hunt — and they enjoy doing so because it’s an important part of their life, not because they are bitter.”

UPDATE II: Obama Apologizes Again … “If I offended, I deeply regret that …”

The not ready to be President candidate, Barack Obama, once again finds himself having to apologize for remarks and associations that he has made.

“Obviously, if I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that,” Obama said in an interview with the Winston-Salem Journal, according to a transcript provided by his campaign.

Barack Obama has “ZERO” experience to the the Commander and Chief of the United States. Obama has no foreign policy experience, he has no track record of important or substantive legislation. All Obama has is a message of  “CHANGE”. Obama is supposed to be this great and wise communicator of words that is supposed to appeal to America. However, then why does he continually have to apoligize and say, “if I worded things in a way that made people offended, I deeply regret that.” Barack Obama isn’t even good at communicating.

UPDATE III: Will Obama’s “mouth in foot” comment provide Hillary Clinton with a political opportunity?

One thing is for certain, if Hillary Clinton does not capitalize on Obama’s commnets … John McCain will. Can’t one see the bumper sticker now … I’m not bitter, I’m just better … VOTE FOR MCCAIN 2008.

Political insiders differed on whether Obama’s comments, which came to light Friday, would become a full-blown political disaster that could prompt party leaders to try to steer the nomination to Clinton even though Obama has more pledged delegates. Clinton supporters were eagerly hoping so.

They handed out “I’m not bitter” stickers in North Carolina, and held a conference call of Pennsylvania mayors to denounce the Illinois senator. In Indiana, Clinton did the work herself, telling plant workers in Indianapolis that Obama’s comments were “elitist and out of touch.”

Clinton called Obama’s remarks “elitist,” “demeaning” and “out of touch”

Of course Obama wants to appeal to the bitter. He’s nothing but a bitter racist himself.

    2. brie. on April 12th, 2008 11:47 am

I don’t know how people can even support him, he and he wife are both bitter racists.

Refusing to salute the American Flag and all it stands for.

If that goofy picture of him pops up on the internet one more time I think I’ll scream. Looks like a stupid jacka~~…acts like one too!!!

Obama bin Lard is a wolf in sheep skin and his true intention, the San Francisco Nancy Pelosi Value System, is for all to see. He is a closet Muslim bending on undermining American Christian values.

Obama concedes he said his remarks were ill chosen. He said the remarks he made about the bitter working class voters who clung to “guns or religion”, were ill chosen, as he tried to stem a burst of complaints that he is condescending. He set off a storm of criticism. Sending an image that he is arrogant, aloof and carries himself with an air of superiority. Associated Press

He is just an idiot….who is writing his speeches , Rev Wright….all he is managing to do is pi~~ people off. He tries to cover-up who is really is but sometimes it slips out. We know what your about Obama…..

Nope, we don’t need any changes that Osama Barack Hussein Obama has to offer! He is a radical muslim piece of poop!! America is doomed if he is elected. But then again, he himself is doomed if he is elected.

      GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Well, remember we only get one chance this time and it sure isn’t Obama or Hillery, sad state of choices we will be having to make in the USA .
When will a REAL leader come to the forefront hope it happens again before my time has passed, would just like to see the U.S. be #1 undisputed again before I die.

i guess you people must be afraid of somebody who speaks the truth.stick to bashing Aruba-thats what you guys are best at-not having honest political dialogue.

    8. Mary,UK on April 12th, 2008 4:40 pm

Couldnt there be an element of truth in what Obama says, small town Americans, being the back-bone of the nation, I watched a programme on tv ths week, in it they explored the effect of immigration on the Brittish working and middle-class, they did find resentment and bitterness. We are being sucked dry with taxes, many workers priced out of the job market as Eastern European people are undercutting them!!! they can also claim benefits in this country, paid for by OUR taxes. I am bloody sick, we work hard to provide a nice house and lifestyle for our children but the government are squeezing us so much for taxes my husband and i are worried sick, so yes WE ARE BITTER!!!!

One of the truest ways in which to judge someone’s character is by how they treat other people.

Barack Obama is truly showing his colors when he speaks so negatively of being and American, and in this case, critisizes “small-town America”.

Barack and Michelle Obama are so full of themselves and I, for one am NOT drinking the Kool-Aid they are handing out!!

I hope voters of America come to their senses soon and chose the lesser of the 3 evils, which at this point- looks like John McCain.

BARACK & MICHELE OBAMA- open mouth—INSERT BOTH of your feet ! Problem is, we have to listen to this now until November. I am counting on Michelle to keep at least one of her promises as she warned us all way back when how priveledged we all should be that a man of her husband’s stature is even gracing us with his run for the Presidency. In addition, she told us we are only going to get “one shot” and if we “mess-up”…we’ll never have another chance at Barack again…..THANK YOU, LORD !!

    10. brie. on April 12th, 2008 5:15 pm

Your right Susan, he is a muslin piece of poop! He is not anything close to representing a President and his wife is nothing close to representing a First Lady….it would certainly be a tragedy if he got elected….can you only imagine him trying to handle 911….

Can you only imagine how our war veterans felt when he refused to recognize and salute the American Flag that our forefather’s fought and died for….? How many of us wore something representing our flag after 911?

I guess if he got elected, which I seriously doubt, the first thing he would do is trash the American Flag….that of course would surely put him in his grave.

I say send him to Iraq and let him fight for this country side by side with all the other soldiers….but then again who would trust him fighting by their side….he’s a toothpick and probably couldn’t even carry everything the soldiers have to wear….

How he ever made it this far in the campaign is a joke….go live in Africa or Israel because you are not a true American and don’t belong here…

    11. Wayne on April 12th, 2008 6:15 pm

All I hear constantly is Barrack is taken out of context when he opens his mouth and inserts his foot or his wife does the same or his minister. The truth is his true feelings and thoughts are being stated and after 20 years of listening to hateful rhetoric from Rev. Wright is it any wonder. This man is not the answer to America’s problems. Even Hillary is a better candidate for Pres. of the USA and she is also not what America needs. It looks to me like we have one choice and that is Sen. Mccain.

    12. brie. on April 12th, 2008 7:12 pm

I think Senator McCain is our only answer….20 yrs of listening to Rev Wright would certainly poison your mind Obama, and it has been done to you and Michelle….not proud of America….well we are not proud of Obama and Michelle….bitter racists….you two would disgrace the entire White House…and don’t belong in there where some of our greatest President’s resided….

#7. Hey Earl, maybe one day you may get a clue.

Try not to be so ignorant your whole life. Dialog is disagreement. You just want to drink the Kool-Aide and not hear the other side. Which would be the truth.

Even Obama apologized, which would make our view on his comments correct.

If Obama thinks people turn to religion than what a Christian must he be? The answer would be … not one at all. Although it speaks volumes as to why for 20 years he listened to and enjoyed the bitter, racists rantings of Rev. Wright.

Obama is a farce and his candidacy is a lie.

    14. katablog on April 12th, 2008 10:00 pm

Barack certainly understands bitter and clinging since he spent 20 years listening to a very angry and bitter pastor yelp racist statements. That type of church would cause anyone to have to cling hard to their faith.

Bitter Americans? I don’t think so. Perhaps sometimes angry Americans who get taxed into the ground so that politicians can bring home the pork. Perhaps angry at being lied and pandered to through political campaigns.

But no, for the most part we are much better people than Barack, Michelle and Pastor Wright.

you guys are some IGNORANT fools. have fun voting for mccain during our recession and watching more and more die in iraq.

get out of your small towns, it’ll change your life. not everyone out there is white.

scared monkey- youre a sad excuse for a human being.
      _____________
SM: Here is an example of true ignorance. This is the underlying root evil of what has plagued the Obama campaign. There is an inherent elitism and reverse racism as indicated by the comment below. If you don’t vote for Obama, you are racist. Personally, you can be white, black or purple and still be a misguided fool.

get out of your small towns, it’ll change your life. not everyone out there is white.

Some one that would vote for some one bases on the propaganda that they present to the American people rather then their words and actions. I dare say, before you call others ignorant, you best take a look in the mirror.

If you think the answer is just pulling troops out of Iraq, might I suggest your watch the movie, The Killing Fields.

If you think that a socialist is the answer to curing a recession, might I suggest you get a clue.

Barack Obama is a bag of wind who constantly finds himself apologizing for the very things that he accuses other politicians of being. He is no change. He is typical. He is actually worse than typical as he states he is for change when in reality he has no concept of what “good” change is.

Change to the negative is hardly a change that America needs.

As someone who lives in Pennsylvania, I can attest to the fact that the democratic party has decimated the urban areas of the state. No small wonder that most have left the cities and moved to the suburbs to get away from the race baiting poverty pimps. By the way, the city of Pittsburgh has been declared a financial disaster area and has been for about 9 years. “Let’s keep doing more of the same” seems to be the mantra.

Even if this is a political power point for Hillary, Bill will be there to throw her down the steps and sabotage her efforts. God Love ya Bill, and thanks for all you do to destroy her chances.

I think we found the fifth column.

#15- Earl—do you ever listen to talk radio? Check out 97.9 WTKK FM and check out Jay Severin between 3-6:00 p.m. weekdays, or on this website- listen to Dana Pretzer. These man are in no way, shape or form “racists” nor do they rant. I have never heard 2 men as good as this or with such a fine command of the English language.

Better yet- really try to absorb a lot of what they are talking about. They are the best and the brightest and much of what they put out there is extremely accurate and a better representation of what mainstream America is feeling, thinking and sharing alike.

Point of this article you have logged on to blog about is that at this moment in our history, Mr. Obama appears to be making his own bed to lie in. He can re-tract and re-word all of the public comments he has made so far and try to rule them out as just intermittent “sound bytes”….Guess what? He grossly UNDERESTIMATES the minds and hearts of most Americans. He’s made his impression, one that many will not soon forget as they take those insights to this man with him when they go to vote in November.

eli: I won’t be voting for McAmnesty any more than I’d vote for PIPS Hillary or racist, elitist Barack.

Here’s a news flash: we are not in a recession – it’s the political pigs lying to you to get your vote which you’ve sucked down hook, line and sinker.

Next news flash: None of the candidates, despite what they say (believe it or not, they LIE) will be pulling troops out of Iraq. Remember, Pelosi and team were suppose to do that for you two years ago but they won’t either. Why? Because we are winning in Iraq and it’s a USA death sentence to pull out and once again leave people whose lives on on the line because of the promises we’ve made. You can fight the terrorists there, or wait a few years and fight them here.

Even the Democrats know this, but they need a distinction and are willing to lie to get your vote. You believed them two years ago, shame on them. If you believe them again this year, shame on you.

    22. Rob on April 13th, 2008 7:54 am

Let’s face the facts here. Obama is a total and complete idiot. In fact, this is the worst choice of candidates in my lifetime. I can hardly image it could be any worse.

Obama is for eliminating advanced weapons systems, and I heard it as clear as a bell. It’s another of those WTF moments Obama is becoming known for.

Advanced weapons systems get our troops out of harms way. When you are able to kill your enemy from thousands, if not hundreds, of miles away it protects out troops from becoming D.E.A.D.

This is the same man that wants to pull the troops out and and allow Iran to rule Iraq and not the Iraqi people. More Brilliance.

And to the point – advanced weapons systems saves American Troop’s lives. But then again, saving those lives removes a democratic barking point. DEAD troops! So no wonder he’s against it.

In Obama’s myopic view of the world, it’s not fair that the American Military has the funding and resources to come up with the ingenious ideas that save lives. It should all be hand to hand combat with the terrorists. And may the more blood thirsty win. And this allows Obama to form some truly frightening opinions of who’s right and who’s wrong in the war in terrorism. It allows Obama to believe in the back of his mind, (or the front for that matter) the that American people deserved what happened on 9-11, and those in Spain and England deserved what happened to them due to the actions of their repressive governments.

75 years of giving the world our treasure, blood, sweat and tears and we produce liberal idiots like Obama.

I’ll remind everyone that the US taxpayers have given over 7 trillion dollars to fight the War on Poverty through the “Great Society” Programs. We have built infrastructures around the world. Given hospitals, telephone systems, medicine, and technology free of charge. Do you think the Saudis would do that. And when the next generation of energy arrives, it will be from with in the US that it is developed. Does anyone think that the US will rape everyone financially like the OPEC Nations are currently? I would bet we will give it to the world once again for free.

Obama is not only dangerous to the rest of us, he’s a danger to the world with his myopic views. Foreign policy is not his strong point, well, neither is domestic.

Obama is so frightening and his world views are so unusual, I can’t fathom why he is the leading democrat candidate for President.

Somebody explain WHY so many are actually voting for him? Is it really just as simple as the fact that he is half black? Is that all it takes?

    25. A New Girl on April 13th, 2008 1:33 pm

#24….Here’s my crack at a response to your question above….

It’s “Political Science”…. The only thing scientific about the politics now is figuring out how long people are going to keep consuming the BS that the media and this candidate have been trying to feed them!!

….it may not be brilliant…but it’s the closest I can come to understanding also why so many seem to have fallen for his pathetic drivel about “change” and “hope”. Even Hillary Clinton is smart enough to be campaigning with her slogan…real solutions for real problems.

Like I said before, I am NOT drinking Obama’s Kool Aide. As history has proven with Jim Jones, there was something in it that turned out to be lethal.

    26. katablog on April 13th, 2008 2:25 pm

#24: I think it’s mainly that most people love to have their ears tickled. Obama is an orator, they hear what they want to hear and ignore all the stuff they should be hearing. Then we have those who are so in love with electing a black president that they hear nothing else.

It would be wonderful if we elected a black president but that should not be the overriding issue just as having a woman president should cause people to put on blinders. Geraldine Ferraro (who I don’t like or respect) actually told the absolute truth but it wasn’t considered PC. No way would any other candidate get as far along as Barack has if they didn’t have black skin.

    27. dennisintn on April 13th, 2008 3:14 pm

we had 8 years of clinton’s “real solutions for real problems”. i really don’t think we can afford to go there again. obama’s wife can’t find anything to be proud of in the u.s.a. he can’t even bring himself to say the pledge to the flag, or salute it. neither of them can say “good morning” without having to have somebody spend the next week explaining away the lies they told while they were saying it.

      Re #24
Obama is the leading Dem candidate for one reason: he was chosen in 2004 by the liberal elite politicians (Teddy, Soros, etc) to be the candidate to run against Hillary Clinton. He has been supported behind the scenes financially and politically in order to get him to this point, and they will continue to support him until Hillary is too bloody to fight anymore or they have to give in to the majority’s will. He’s a malleable puppet and many are willing to vote for him because he is black and it makes them feel noble and progessive. If he were to win the presidency, he would be easily controlled on both local and foreign policy issues because he has absolutely no experience to stand on and his allegiances will be to those powerful elite dems that bought him the election. He knows nothing about how to protect our country, how to restore our economy, or how to deal with foreign policy issues or the radical dictators who will eat him for breakfast. He’s dangerous and our country will be in serious trouble if he ends up in the Whitehouse. I’m a republican, but I’ve seriously thought about voting for Hillary just to be sure I do my part to keep him as far away from it as possible!

Thinking that….this year has been one of the hardest in terms of who we have to chose from. While I may not love everything John McCain is about- I certainly hold the most respect out of all 3 for him.

He has served this country, and spent time as a POW. He has honor, I believe and also I don’t think when it comes to foriegn policy anyone will mess with him. Truly though, the only way even he is going to get my vote is if he picks someone truly qualified for his VP ticket.

Sighhhhhhhhhh….touugh choices again this election year. Kind of depressing when you think about it…for something as important as the President of the US….look at this freakin’ circus. So, again, when all the smoke and mirrors clears—the only decent candidate left standing will be McCain.

i am australian and i believe it should be forbidden to have someone of colour as American President, it’s never happened in the history books before why should it happen now. I believe because of this he will be assassinated ASAP if elected. And yes i am racist and always will be. We do not live happily together as a multicultural world it was forced upon us, so the people who are still racist are forced to suppress it and hide it. It’s because of the typical do gooder who’s mouth is as big as an ocean and who just can’t learn to shut it and mind their own business, He might be nice now but how do you know he won’t suddenl change and become racist against whites after he wins, hell we could end up being the first white slaves. I think there is more to him than what appears.
