In New York its Out with the Old … Eliot Spitzer and In with the New Governor … David Paterson; However, New Governor Has Had his Own Sex Scandal

Define irony? Booting a governor out of office in disgrace due to a sex scandal while at the very same moment swearing a new one who has already had a sex scandal. File this one under … lets get the dirt out in the open at the start. He was applauded for having an affair? I guess NY Democrats are just happen he didn’t pay for services, he just cheated on his wife the old fashion way. Unreal.

Is it a prerequisite in New York for Democrats to have a sex scandals for in order to become governor? Ex-Governor, Eliot Spitzer, crashed and burned when recently linked to a prostitution ring and escort call girl Ashley Alexandra Dupre. Out goes Spitzer in disgrace and in comes David Paterson. However, looks like Paterson and his wife already have their own sex scandal.

The Daily News is reporting that Governor Davis Paterson admits to having Wtfsex with other women during his marriage for years. What a sad state of “affairs” that we set such a low moral bar for those in such positions of power and authority.

In a stunning revelation, both Paterson, 53, and his wife, Michelle, 46, acknowledged in a joint interview they each had intimate relationships with others during a rocky period in their marriage several years ago.

In the course of several interviews in the past few days, Paterson said he maintained a relationship for two or three years with “a woman other than my wife,” beginning in 1999.

In a second interview with Paterson and his wife Monday, only hours after he was sworn in to replace scandal-scarred Eliot Spitzer,Michelle Paterson confirmed her husband’s account.

One has to agree with the Political Byline, Freaking Jesus Already, can’t the married people in New York keep it in their pants? WOW!

This is my question and I know plenty will come out to flame this.

If you cannot make a commitment to your spouse, how can you make a commitment to a city, town state or country of people? I relate this all to the character of the person. A thief will steal from anyone and a liar will liar to anyone and a cheat will cheat anyone. Reminds me of the saying …..NO HONOR AMONG THIEVES.

No flames here Miss Underestimated, sounds like for the majority of the time and situations like reasonable common sense. :+)
Good comment IMO Jerry from Ohio

Perfection will not be found in this world, perhaps the next.

Hmmm 10 years ago their marriage had problems, SHOCKING !!

In contrast to Spitzer, did Paterson use taxpayer funds to fund his cheating? No? Then why is this an issue? I don’t care if Paterson was having an affair, a threesome or what. If it’s their personal lives then they should stay personal. When they use taxpayer money for their affairs or cutting deals that benefit their lovers then it becomes an issue. Tabloid stories like these distract from the real reasons government officials like Spitzer should be thrown out of the office: because they use taxpayer money for personal gain, they use their authority to aggressively pursue and punish their political enemies, etc. While adultery reflects poorly on his moral character, it does not bar Paterson from public office. Should LA Sen David Vitter step down because of his hanky-panky? No, although I think he would be a hypocrite to speak of the sanctity of marriage.

Isn’t it nice to know that republicans are always faithful and never have troubled marriages…and they certainly don’t condone working together to solve problems.

McCain was still married and living with his wife in 1979 while, according to The New York Times’ Nicholas Kristof, “aggressively courting a 25-year-old woman who was as beautiful as she was rich.” McCain divorced his wife, who had raised their three children while he was imprisoned in Vietnam, then launched his political career with his new wife’s family money. In 2000, McCain managed to deflect media questioning about his first marriage with a deft admission of responsibility for its failure.”

And then there is Newt Gingrich who was cheating on his second wife with an affair with an intern he is now married to during the Clinton impeachment. And that second wife was an affair during his marriage to his first wife who he served divorce papers to in her hospital bed while being treated for cancer.
And there is Ted Haggard and Larry Craig and on and on.

Let’s be consistent folks and condemn ALL the adulterous hypocrites or just shut up.

At least we’re going in the right direction. Whoring guv steps down and is replaced for a guy that cheated on his wife (seemingly like 90% of pols, amazing!).

Your party repolaced a serial cheater in Idaho with a guy, Larry Craig, he looks to have anonymous gay sex with strangers in airport bathrooms. And then savages the cop as a liar after he admits to it.

Is he still in office? I heard he promised to resign, but not sure that ever happened. Help me out with that.

Where is the outrage? You guys should be real proud! Keep on keepin’ on restoring honor and integrity to this great nation!

Interesting that both the new governor and his wife have each cheated in the marriage. I guess this shows that the times, they are indeed a-changin’ … thirty years ago, or even less, would the wife dare have made such an admission?

      Holier than thou,

I guess you wouldn’t mind putting your money in a bank whose president is a crook. Have at it.

This goes for all of em, rep or dem or who ever. If you can cheat on the closest to you, then what can you do to others? It’s all about the character that you entrust people who take oaths to be HONEST…..AND HAVE THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT……

    12. Rand on March 18th, 2008 1:29 pm

Our expectation of politicians has lowered, for both Democrats and Republicans. Americans seem to think cheating is ok, as long as you’re sorry and didn’t try to cover it up.
