John McCain Mocked for being a POW by Democrats … How Sick is This, Gloria Steinem Mocks McCain?

Think Democrats have not gone too far? We have not even got to the general election yet and this nonsense is out of control. Republican Presidential soon to be nominee served his country so that people like feminist Gloria Steinem has the right of freedom of speech. McCain was captured and a POW for years. For that, being a POW, McCain is mocked and made fun of by an over-the-hill feminist as onlookers laugh? Could one possibly get any more disrespectful?

Steinem_gloria

This is the reason why friends don’t let friends vote Democratic. The Clinton camp was quick to go into damage control denouncing Steinem’s comments. Too late, the genie is out of the bottle.

From the stage, the 73-year-old seemed to denigrate the importance of John McCain’s time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. In an interview with the Observer afterward, she suggested that Barack Obama benefits—and Clinton suffers—because Americans view racism more seriously than sexism.

“Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years. [The media would ask], ‘What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?’” Steinem said, to laughter from the audience.

McCain was, in fact, a prisoner of war for around five-and-a-half years, during which time he was tortured repeatedly. Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said with bewilderment, “I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don’t think so.”

Steinem’s broader argument was that the media and the political world are too admiring of militarism in all its guises.

“I am so grateful that she [Clinton] hasn’t been trained to kill anybody. And she probably didn’t even play war games as a kid. It’s a great relief from Bush in his jump suit and from Kerry saluting.”

Just remember, birds of a feather flock together. Gloria Steinem and Hillabeast.

I usually refrain from this political stuff, but Ms. Gloria is way out of line. I didn’t even know she was still around and kicking. That is how important she is, a has been with a cheap mouth.

Suppose that Steinem had done anything of real consequence in her life, other than getting a free pass from the media … but why suppose it?

Undoubtedly the advancement of women has benefitted us all … but disgusting rants like this separate the cause from its proponents.

I await to see the response from McCain’s wife … if she decides to dignify this trash with a response.

Steinem, Steinem, lemme see, wasn’t she the one that was trying to reform Monica Lewinski? Oh, no, her work had to do with saving Middle Eastern women from religious oppression? I just don’t know much about the credentials of this old gal I guess.

Please don’t assume that all or even many Democrats agree with Steinem. She once did a great deal of good in advancing the cause of equal rights. It’s too bad she didn’t stop when her words had meaning. She has become petty, mean, and disrespectful. Steinem is now an embarrassment to any that associate with her.

That woman is an old freakin bitch….! Shot her!!! Disrespect is the number one issue!!! Your a POS! You just lost it all for Democrats!!!!!
Complete disrespect for a man serving his country!!!
This will be used as a tool for Presidential election!! You are wasted!!!

I’ll write the letter for him:

      Ms Steinem,
While you were running around in a Playboy costume serving drinks, others from this country were making the ultimate sacrifice to ensure you the freedom to become a nationally recognized feminist.
      Thanks,
      John McCain

      hillary’s a far cry from a feminist!!!

after college she followed bill to arkansas where she eventually married him (even though there were already tons of rumoured affairs). hillary went on to “stand by her man” & cry of a “vast, right-wing conspiracy” while her husband chased anything that moved in a skirt. the classic enabler.

hillary was so complacent in her marriage, i just wonder how she’ll handle foreign countries if (god forbid) she wins? she has a history of allowing men to trample all over her.

how many of these hillary supporters had to explain to small children what a “blow job” was & why hillary’s husband was making the news after receiving one from an employee? sheesh.

SM you are so down on the democrats,Trust me they don’t all think like this loon. I know you’re stressed , we all are , what with three dollar fuel and an unwinable war. We are truely sorry ,the man you put in the White House has this country in the shape it’s in. For more of the same vote John McCain. By the way, your president will go down as the worst in our history. How do I figure? That would take too long.

    12. katablog on March 3rd, 2008 10:22 pm

ayfit: So I guess you are happy with everything the Democratic congress has done since taking over in 2004?

Wait until Hillabeast takes over the oil companies and of course Obama’s Patriotic Business thing will bring down the price of gass. I suppose you don’t thing OPEC has anything to do with the price you pay at the pump?

BTW here’s a little secret but don’t you let the MSM media get hold of this: We are NOT in a recession. They keep trying with everything they can to say we are but those darn indicators simply won’t cooperated with them.

    13. brie on March 3rd, 2008 10:30 pm

Obama is believed to be a Mason but only to hide his true beliefs for Israel and Africa…not a man to be trusted….!!!!!!! Certainly not even being close to being a candidate for President….People get real!!!! He’s a cognito!!!!

    14. Sherry on March 3rd, 2008 10:46 pm

Wow thats a coincidence about Obama being a mason..I heard in the beginning that people thought Hillary was a mason too and that is why she was getting so much money and support from odd people. I dont know…I dont feel either of them would be good for the country though.

    15. yoyo muffintop on March 4th, 2008 12:08 am

Katablog – Yes, by the hardline definition we are not in a recession. But as you know the “official” definition of a recession is (and always will be) subjective, mercurial and arbitrary.
Let’s face it, businesses are shutting down, the dollar is falling, the real estate market is falling, the massive layoffs, the huge deficit, etc. etc.
Imo, we are either heading into a recession or we are already in one. All the “right thinking” and hoodwinking in the world won’t make it go away. imo.

John McCain Represents Everything Gloria Steinem Hates…

It has to be hard to be an aging activist whose message is no longer relevant. Gloria Steinem was in the news all the time in the 1960s and 1970s when she was on the front lines of the feminist movement, which I’ve often said didn’t do us w…

I think she was trying to save the dinosour from extinction ;>)

DAMN YoYo…great post! You do delight us now and then :>)

    19. brenda on March 4th, 2008 9:28 am

Oh Katablog! I thought only the far-right wing bloggers know about that!

As is normal operating procedure for the left, they used the media (who are glad to oblige) in order to force people to stop spending and cause the panic. That way, the socialist party (I refuse to call them liberal democrats) can race in to “save” us with their big government ideas.

Remember the historic radio broadcast of War of the Worlds that sent people into a panic because they were idiot enough to believe it??? Same here. I do NOT believe we were in a recession for one, but DO believe it is being forced down our throats due to those without minds of their own following this media hype.

    20. Lotte Lenya on March 4th, 2008 2:53 pm

“…but DO believe it is being forced down our throats due to those without minds of their own following this media hype.”

      You mean like Warren Buffett?

    21. katablog on March 5th, 2008 8:33 am

You are right Brenda. And yes, YoYo, the liberal news media can cause a recession simply by telling people over and over that we are in one or that we are headed for one. Some people like you believe what they hear.

If you think things are bad now, look at the spending that both Obama and Clinton propose! Just how high do you think taxes will have to go to support these billions in spending? Just how many Americans do you think will continue to work as the government takes more and more of their paycheck? Then – who is going to pay for $5000 for each child, $4000 for each college student, healthcare for everyone (including 20 million illegal aliens) and the list goes on and on and on.

    22. yoyo muffintop on March 5th, 2008 5:42 pm

Katablog – I must say I am always amazed at those who follow lockstep with their political party line no matter what.
Take off those rose colored glasses katablog.

I am sick of hearing about his being a P.O.W!! Anyone of us could be captured and held for 5 years, but that would not qualify us to be president.
