Guns, What Guns on One Happy Island? At least nine shots were fired in Robbery Attempt in Aruba

In Aruba at least 9 shots were fired Friday night in a robbery attempt after clerks stepped out of their armoured vehicle while transporting money. What are the gun laws on Aruba? So much for violent crime not being an issue.

Spectacular raid on money-transport fails  (Amigoe 3/31/2008)

ORANJESTAD – Money transporters of a security service in Eagle barely escaped the bullets of two raiders last Friday evening.  The first shots were fired the moment the collecting clerks stepped out of their armoured vehicle to deliver a great amount of money they have collected, to their office.  The clerks managed to reach their office unhurt.  At least nine shots were fired.  The police immediately closed off the area and started with the investigation together with the atraco-team and the technical criminal investigation department.  They found some cartridges.  Most of the bullets were shot in the wall.  In the picture, some members of the investigation team entering the office to listen to the collecting clerks’ account.

Dem Senator Joe Lieberman Backs Republican John McCain … “The Democratic Party today was not the party it was in 2000″

Joe Lieberman calls it as it is

Who really thinks that Barack Obama can bridge the gap between the two parties? No one, not even Democratic Senators in their own party. Joe Lieberman backs John McCain and says … this is the the same Democratic part from 2000. When todays Democratic attack Joe Lieberman, ask yourself why they had no issue with him in 2000? When todays Democrats attack John McCain, ask yourself why they begged, pleaded and wished he was John Kerry’s VP running mate in 2004?

Well, I say that the Democratic Party changed.

The Democratic Party today was not the party it was in 2000. It’s not the Bill Clinton-Al Gore party, which was strong internationalists, strong on defense, pro-trade, pro-reform in our domestic government. It’s been effectively taken over by a small group on the left of the party that is protectionist, isolationist and basically will –and very, very hyperpartisan. So it pains me.

I’m a Democrat who came to the party in the era of President John F. Kennedy. It’s a strange turn of the road when I find among the candidates running this year that the one, in my opinion, closest to the Kennedy legacy, the John F. Kennedy legacy, is John S. McCain.

Aruba Boasts of 13.6% Increase in Colombian Tourists … To Bad they Only Represent 1.74% of Aruban Tourism

Sound the horns and let the pigeons loose in Aruba … there was a 13.6% increase in visitors to Aruba from Colombia. Aruba, your tourism is saved. I guess you have nothing more to fear and worry about from people expressing their First Amendment Constitutional Rights to protest and have their voice be heard in demanding “Justice for Natalee” at travel shows in the United States.

The bad news for Aruba is that their good news is a double edge sword. First, Colombian travelers only represent 1.74% of their tourism as a whole. This is hardly something to get excited about. The increase of 1580 tourists a year is not the things that should get the ATA and AHATA ready to through a party.

Secondly, Aruba better figure out what the likes and dislikes are of their greatest percentage of tourists to their island. Americans do not like change, especially when they go to the same tourist destination. Aruba has already lost those that consciously relate “Justice for Natalee” and missing Natalee Holloway to Aruba. Now they will lose the people that went to Aruba for the same old, same old vacation for years and years. To tell the average person from America that there is a 14% increase in Colombians to the place that they consider a tourist destination is hardly a ringing endorsement to go to Aruba. That is the perception. The more Aruba brings in other types of tourists, the less Americans will travel there. That is the reality.

UPDATE I: Here are some Island Getaway spots to travel to in the US

Do you feel the need to go to island getaway places? Why go abroad when there are some great places to visit in the United States.

Number of Colombian visitors increases  (Amigoe: March 30, 2008)

Missing NY Pastor, Reverend Craig Rhodenizer, Found inside Ohio Strip Club

The search is over for missing pastor, Craig Rhodenizer. He was found OK, but most certainly with less $1 bills in his pocket than when he first went missing. Let’s guess, Rhodenizer was at the strip club showing the girls the errors of their ways and reforming sinners?

It looks like Reverend Jeremiah Wright of famed “Pastor Disaster” is not the only pastor with some explaining to do. New York pastor, Rev. Craig Rhodenizer, of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lyndonville, N.Y had been missing. His vehicle was found outside a strip club in Riverside, Ohio. Rhodenizer was found inside physically fine but emotionally distraught.

“When they had contact with him, he appeared to be very distraught and very emotional,” Lewiston Sgt. Frank Previte told The Buffalo News. “He told the officers that he did not know how he got there or where he was.”

Rev. Craig Rhodenizer

Dancers inside the strip club told investigators that Rev. Craig Rhodenizer spent two hours drinking alcohol, soliciting dances and making threatening comments. He also said he wanted to take the dancers back to his motel, according to the police report. In his car was a bottle of Bacardi rum. (WKBW)

New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union File Lawsuit Claiming Dover City Ordinance Keeping Sex Offenders Away from Schools Unconstitutional

Rights for sex offenders? It would seem that they gave up any such rights to Sex_offenders_schoollive near where children congregate when they chose to commit sex acts against children.

How misguided could some people truly be? In Dover, NH the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit challenging the ordinance on behalf of a man convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2000. Yeah that it, lets protect the rights of the child molesters and not the right and protection of the children.

The city’s ordinance, adopted in 2005, bans registered sex offenders from living within 2,500 feet of a school. The New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit this week challenging the ordinance on behalf of a man convicted of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 2000.

Vogue: Lebron James and Gisele Bundchen Cover … King Kong & Faye Wray … Racially Insensitive … Get a Life!

File this one under … Racism, you have got to be joking … Get a Life!

VOGUE … racially insensitive cover? The only racism that needs to be addressed is by those who seemingly read into and see racism where there is none. We really must start questioning those who cry racism at the drop of a hat. There is real racism that exists, this is not it!

It is simply amazing and disgusting how some people can only see the negative in life. One would think they want to for ulterior motives. When I look at this cover, I see the Odd Couple. I see two people who have made it to the top of their careers at such a young age, have more money and popularity than they know what to do with and have made their mark in two diversely different ways. Both driven in their own ways … both at the top of their game, Gisele with beauty and looks and Lebron with a body that most men would die for and the skills that have made him deserving of the name, King James.

Voguecover_James

(NBA superstar Lebron James & super model Gisele Bundchen)

There comes a point and time where some people just need to stop their racism agenda. The latest so-called “racially insensitive” call to arms is the recent Vogue cover with NBA basketball phenom Lebron James and super model Gisele Bundchen. King James is actually the first black man to ever grace its cover. However, in the world we live in where some one always seems to find a racially motivated conspiracy in every thing … a controversy has erupted comparing the Vogue cover to that of King Kong and Fay Wray.

King_Kong3

(Yea, I get the two pics confused all the time)

But the image is stirring up controversy, with some commentators decrying the photo as perpetuating racial stereotypes. James strikes what some see as a gorilla-like pose, baring his teeth, with one hand dribbling a ball and the other around Bundchen’s tiny waist.

It’s an image some have likened to King Kong and Fay Wray.

“It conjures up this idea of a dangerous black man,” said Tamara Walker, 29, of Philadelphia. (USA Today)

King-Kong1

This ridiculous stupidity stems from an ESPN story by Jemele Hill who stated the following:

A black athlete being reduced to a savage is, sadly, nothing new. But this cover gave you the double-bonus of having LeBron and Gisele strike poses that others in the blogosphere have noted draw a striking resemblance to the racially charged image of King Kong enveloping his very fair-skinned lady love interest.

LeBron is just the third male ever to appear on Vogue’s cover, but it’s hard to believe Vogue would have made Brett Favre, Steve Nash or even David Beckham strike his best beast pose. And even if Vogue had, it wouldn’t carry the same racial undertones as having a fear-inducing black man paired with a dainty damsel.

Too often, black athletes are presented as angry, overly aggressive and overly sexual. Or sometimes, they’re just plain emasculated.

King_Kong_faywray

(Faye Wray … Funny, Gisele seems to be smiles ear to ear)

That’s correct. You heard that right. The cover of Lebron James and Gisele Bundchen is being compared to King Kong and Fay Wray. What are some people thinking and what is their agenda? Maybe some one would like to ask Jemele Hill, who is black, why she sees racism where there is none. How can any one look at a simple magazine cover and describe it as another form of racism against black? Unfortunately, there is obviously racism that still occurs in the 21st century; however, this is not it. When people constantly cry wolf and make absurd comments, they diminish the acts of real racism.

People have been suspended and even fired from their jobs for making racist King-kong2or what were perceived as racist comments. One has to wonder why ESPN would not do the same with Jemele Hill’s attempt at calling something racist when it was not. Even many black activists saw nothing wrong with the cover. In fact, one might think that this was a break though milestone as Lebron James was the first black man ever to be on the cover.

Why should be be wary of this ESPN article by Jemele Hill? Because she manages to evoke the super Democratic, all loving, all knowing, all caring, above racism and ignorance candidate Barack Obama. Why is it surprising that race and Obama’s name would come up again so soon? Does Miss Hill attend the same type of church that Obama did and does as well?

“It’s like Barack Obama said in his much-talked about speech on race Tuesday. We know so little about one another. Even scarier, we know even less about the fallout of racist history”.

Hey Aruba … No Body, No Crime, REALLY??? Jessica O’Grady Missing & Presumed Dead … Edwards is now serving 80 years to life

No body, No Crime … Only in Aruba and when a crime is committed like in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. In other places where people take crime seriously there are arrests, prosecutions and convictions made without a body all the time. Like in the case of missing Nina Reiser and her husband Hans Reiser who is presently on trial for her murder. Or in the case of Kendrick Williams as well. Its only in places like Aruba where a cover up of a crime takes precedent over a crime against an individual where justice is denied that such actions are condoned. It would appear that only in Aruba does Paulas Van der Sloot’s comments of “No Body, No Crime” ring true.

Satish says to Joran: I didn’t declare anything.
Joran says to the brothers: Of course you did.
Satish says to Joran: What did I say / against your father?
Joran says to the brothers: You said that he (Joran’s father) said that if there’s no corpse there’s no case, or I don’t know what more sorts of shit.
Joran says to the brothers: That’s not true, the only thing he (Joran’s father) said that if there’s no body there don’t have a case.

Jessica O'Grady 1

(Jessica O’Grady, University of Nebraska at Omaha student)

19 year old University of Nebraska student, Jessica O’Grady, is missing and presumed dead. Jessica O’ Grady was last seen on May 10, 2006. O’Grady made a cell phone call the night that she went missing stating that she was going to the house of the man she had dated, Christopher Edwards. Jessica O’Grady was never seen nor heard from again. No body, no crime, huh? Don’t tell that to Christopher Edwards. Jessica’s body was never recovered; however, Christopher Edwards is presently serving 80 years to life in the death of Jessica O’Grady.

Jessica O’Grady, who is presumed dead, was last seen alive on May 10, 2006. She made a call from her cell phone late that night, saying she was going to the house of a man she had dated, Christopher Edwards. Edwards is now serving 80 years to life for the 19-year-old woman’s death, although her body has never been found.

Investigators aren’t giving any details of the tip, but say it is promising.

DAVID - son Slays Goliath Again … Cinderella Davidson College & Stephen Curry Continue on their March Madness

Once again, David has slain Goliath Davidson College has done it again. This time they knocked off #3 seed in the Midwest Regional Wisconsin, 73–56. We love underdogs and always have …

David reached his hand into the bag and took out a stone. He slung it, striking the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank deeply into his forehead, and he fell down with his face to the ground.

David prevailed over the Philistine with just the sling and the stone. (Samuel 17:1-58)

Why do we love NCAA College Basketball’s March Madness? There are Davidsontwo answers. Unlike the BCS Football Bowl fiasco that we are presented with every years where a mythical College Football Champion is crowned, college basketball presents us with a playoff system which captures the hearts, minds and imagination of all that watch. Even people who are not college basketball fans find themselves caught up in the madness. Once our own college team is eliminate or teams we have picked have lost, we become unofficial alumni of the lowest seed in the tournament. This year, we are all alumni of Davidson.

What do we love most about March Madness … Schools like Davidson. Long before our brackets are busted and there is no shot of winning any office pools, we look for the upsets. We want Cinderella to win, even if it means that any chance of winning the office pool goes down the drain. In many respects, it justifies losing. There is a new Cinderella in town and the glass slipper is on the feet of the Davidson Wildcats.

Every year there seems to be a new Cinderella at the Big Dance. This year its Stephen Curry and the Davidson Wildcats. The Davidson Wildcats not only beat #3 seeded Wisconsin last night, they handled the Big Ten Champs rather easily. The second half was no contest as Davidson outscored the Badgers, 37–20. Stephen Curry has been simply amazing as Davidson, the winners of 25 straight games, is starting to look less and less like an underdog.

Davidson started their March Madness Dance by taking out the former Cinderella darlings Gonzaga 82–76. Then Davidson defeated who many had picked to go to the Final Four, the Georgetown Hoyas, 74–70. Up next is the #1 seed in the Midwest Kansas Jay Hawks … will to Davidson miracle continue with a birth into the NCAA College Basketball Final Four.

Could it be a Republican Ticket of John McCain and VP Mitt Romney?

Republicans John McCain and Mitt Romney together again in Utah. Could this be the potential Republican ticket for the 2008 Presidential election? One would think that the McCain pick would have to sure up some uncomfortable feelings from the conservatives in the Republican party while still holding true to McCain’s independent ways. What would your dream match up be for the Republican party in 2008?

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - In a show of Republican unity, one-time bitter foes John McCain and Mitt Romney raised money and campaigned together Thursday for a single goal - getting McCain elected president.

“We are united. Now our job is to energize our party,” the Arizona senator said in an airport hangar, flanked by Romney and Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., an early McCain supporter. Both have been mentioned as potential vice presidential picks, and McCain praised each.

Romney lauded McCain and promised to do all he can to help, saying: “He is a man who is proven and tested” and without question the right man to be president.
