The sad and tragic loss of 28 year old Heath Ledger.Heath_Ledger

Australian born Heath Ledger was found dead today in his NY City apartment at the age of 28. Heath Ledger known for his movie roles in Broke Back Mountain, The Patriot, Monsters Ball and A Knight’s Tale. The Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger was found dead in what some are speculating as drug related. The signs seem to point to suicide or an accidental overdose. An autopsy was planned for Wednesday according to the medical examiner’s office. Ledger was a tremendously talented actor with his whole life ahead of him. May he rest in peace.

NEW YORK (AP) - Heath Ledger, the talented 28-year-old actor who gravitated toward dark, brooding roles that defied his leading-man looks, was found dead Tuesday in a Manhattan apartment, face-down and naked at the foot of his bed with prescription sleeping pills nearby, police said.

There was no obvious indication that the Australian-born Ledger had committed suicide, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

The Academy Award-nominated actor was 28.

Ledger was found naked and unresponsive, facedown on the floor at the foot of his bed by a housekeeper trying to wake him for an appointment with a masseuse, said police spokesman Paul Browne.

“Pills were found in the vicinity of the bed,” he told CNN.

“This is being looked at as a possible overdose, but that is not confirmed yet.”

Browne later told reporters some prescription medications were found in the room, including sleeping pills.

Death of Heath Ledger throws films into disarray

HEATH Ledger’s shocking demise is not only a terrible loss for his daughter Matilda, his Perth-based family and his many fans, it also throws into disarray two movies.

Ledger was in production with the next instalment in the Batman series, The Dark Knight, in which he was starring opposite Christian Bale as a macabre joker.

Early photos from the set suggest Ledger was taking the series into a new darker chapter.

Also on Ledger’s slate was the new Terry Gilliam film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, about a travelling theatre company. It was due to start filming in London shortly.

And all the media are trying to speculate on why he died. I’m going to puke if they ask Gloria Alred………………..It’s a sad day for this young actor. I’m satisfied in waiting for the toxcology report.

I actually really enjoyed his movies. He was great in The Patriot.

Even though it was not marketed to my age group … loved A Knight’s Tale.

Any movie that uses The Boys are Back in Town and Shook You all Night Long in its sound track is OAK in my book.

What a sad story of so much talent and so much to live for … gone far to young.

This is very sad news, two young stars under 30 passing in less than a weeks time. If his and or Brad Renfro’s deaths are deemed to be drug related hopefully it will be a wake-up call to young Hollywood.

It has been said that Heath had been sick with pneumonia for a while, and also that he had been clean (from drugs) for over a year. Either way, may he rest in piece.

So Sad. I hope the speculation of suicide are not correct, I just can’t picture this guy doing that, on purpose. He was said to be so enthralled with his little girl and enjoyed being a daddy.

He did a awesome job in the Patriot and Knight’s Tale ( not my generation either watched with my daughter) I really thought his acting in Broke Back Mountain was awesome.

He was in Chicago this summer for the filming of Batman and frequented the Webber Grill.

I am sorry for his little girl. Soo Sad.

      Rest In Peace Heath Ledger.

Our family is devastated. We loved Heath Ledger as a nice guy and a good actor. We bought The Knights Tale and Four Feathers, and still watch them. So sorry for his family and his little girl. Wish this had never happened. :(

[...] UPDATE I: In much more happier times, Philip Seymour Hoffman winning Best Actor for ‘Capote’. Sadly, I cannot help but notice that two of the actors who were up for ‘Best Actor’ at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006 are now dead. Heath Ledger was also found dead in his NYC apartment in 2008.
