Two Years Later, Still No Sign of Natalee Holloway … Beth Twitty Book ‘Loving Natalee: A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith’ Keeping Hope Alive

Aruba … You are back on the front pages … WHERE IS NATALEE!

Its been more than two year and still there is no sign of Natalee Holloway, the Alabama teen who went missing in Aruba. Worse than that there seems to be no sign that Aruban authorities care to solve the case. The authorities, the government and most especially the tourism industry in Aruba just wants the story to go away and be forgotten.

Aruba, did you really think that was going to happen? You obviously do not know Beth Twitty as wee do. You also obviously do not know what happens when you get between a mother bear and her cub.

Book_Beth_Natalee

Aruba could never have thought more wrong. Just when Aruban tourism officials thought it was safe to go back into the water … along come Beth Twitty and a reminder to the world what happened in Aruba in her book about her daughter Natalee Holloway, ‘Loving Natalee: A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith’.

Guess what Aruba … you are back on the front pages and on TV once again some 2+ years later for all to be reminded of what you did and did not do to help find a teenager who went missing on your island, on your watch.

Even though she still hasn’t been found and her disappearance remains as much a mystery as it was in 2005, Holloway refuses to give up hope.

Now, Holloway has written a book about the ordeal called “Loving Natalee, A Mother’s Testament of Hope and Faith: The True Story of the Aruba Kidnapping and its Aftermath.”

Learn about how Holloway’s faith sustained her during the search for Natalee in the excerpt below. (ABC News)

Aruban officials better get ready for the Beth Twitty book tour and people once again being introduced to the fact that after more than two year, Aruban officials have done nothing. The story had been on the back burner … the public is about to be reminded that nothing has been done by an island that put tourism ahead of a missing girl. The story of how Natalee Holloway went missing is not all that different from how many unfortunately do … however, the story of the Aruban investigation and legal proceedings that followed … that’s another story all together.

Arubans and their hacks may continue to post hostile and hateful messages where they can …

Our own government may continue to turn its head and pretend that all is well …

And our media may continue to ignore Natalee’s case except for one-day “sensational” events …

but WE THE PEOPLE will never forget Natalee, never abandon Beth and Dave and NEVER FORGIVE ARUBA.

Boycott Aruba. As if your life depended on it.

      Where is the KLPD???

12 months on the job and they are playing the same game as ALE — stall and hope people forget.

Why KLPD? Why are you involving yourself in this corruption??

Why have you not pushed for the retraction of Karin Janssen’s letter which made Paulus Van Der Sloot virtually impossible to prosecute for his crimes…despite an Aruban Court’s finding of fact that Paulus was intimately involved in the evening?

Why do people (trolls, whatever) vigorously defend Joran VDS on these boards, but go silent when Paulus and his “release” by ALE and his black robed buddies is called out?

Paulus is your perp. Why are you protecting him KLPD?

Hopefully Beth’s book will shed some additional light on the complete and total cover-up for Paulus Van Der Sloot and his conduct with this whole crime.

Got that right, no justice no tourist. Lets make sure of that!

I do everything I can to detour people away from that hell hole and I will continue to do so until justice is served.

A friend of mine received an offer for a free
vacation to Aruba, Hawaii or Las Vegas. She was leaning towards Aruba till I filled her in on what they have done / haven’t done.

See, Aruba. We are going to destroy you. Do what is right.

My personal opinion and gut feeling is that our State Department already knows what has happened to Natalee. To the State Department from the Dutch; “let’s not proceed with any prosecutions in this case.” There is too much dirt to bring to the surface between Aruba and The Netherlands concerning this case and the Dutch have asked the USA to bow out of the investigation.

      This is my thought basis.
The refinery on Aruba is owned by Valero Refineries.
Valero is currently buying out Citgo gas stations.
It is head quartered in San Antonio Texas.
Texas is one of the biggest oil states next to Alaska and Oklahoma.
Where does the Valero Refinery get its crude oil?

      Canada
What country is the biggest importer of gas/oil to the USA.
      Canada
Who supplies the USA with an airbase in the Caribbean.
      Aruba
What South American Company supplies heating oil to what USA city?

No, Libby … Aruba is going to destroy itself.

It shows every inclination of doing so.

And after two years of hearing how we have to be concerned about the local people and their living (from our tourist dollars) …

I now say, to hell with that. And to hell with them.

We owe Aruba NOTHING. We have NO obligation to go there.

Boycott Aruba … as if your life depended on it.

    8. Richard on October 2nd, 2007 12:01 pm

1006, I think our government is playing the diplomatic game, trying to round up “friendly” governments that will speak out against Venezuela. Right now, I could care less about the diplomatic games.

Aruba has proven that it is not a “friendly” government, whatever it may tell our diplomats.

“By their deeds shall ye know them.”

Well, look at Aruba’s deeds over the last two years and more … cover-up, cover-up, and yet more of a cover-up.

      We don’t need Aruba.

I have followed the disappearance of Natalee Holloway from the very beginning, and is how I eventually stumbled upon Scared Monkeys. I have come to trust the information printed at this web site.
I can’t begin to imagine the heartache and trauma Natalee’s family has been through; although this event has left me with a scar and has change the way I view life, I still can’t believe it has been over 2 years and still no Natalee.
Aruba you should be ashamed at the way you have handled this crime, you should have done the right thing and gave Natalee back to her family and prosecuted the guilty. We all know who they are, it was not that difficult to figure out. Why you wanted to protect the guilty scumbags is beyond me.
Aruba, I hope your crummy little cesspool of an island becomes a big fat nothing. There are nicer places to visit, and I make sure I spread the word everywhere I go. I would rather spend a few extra bucks to go somewhere else where Americans are welcome, not just their money.
GIVE NATALEE BACK! Her family deserves nothing less.

The things Aruba has done to Beth and Dave are cruel, mean and heartless. The investigation should of began with the first word of Natalee’s disappearance. Not 10 days later. Those boys should of been arrested and checked for DNA. Sloot’s house and Deepak’s car should of been searched.

It’s obvious that American’s are not welcome in Aruba. As an American I wouldn’t feel safe there for one minute. Nor do I want to go anyway. I think our Boycott message to Aruba says how we feel!!!!

“Sander is interrogated that day as well:”

“I had a phone conversation with Joran on Sunday May 29th around 11:00AM. I asked Joran whether he’d like to join me on the speedboat of my dad. However he was intending to play a poker tournament at the Holiday Inn.”

Apparently the Gottenbos boat WAS available May 29, 2005.
Sander does not say what time he was going out on the boat.
But if Joran said he was in a poker tournament it must have been before the MBHS at the blackjack table.
It is never mentioned whether the boat was later taken out of the water.
It could have been available in the early hours.
Keon and Sanders could have taken Joran and Natalee out.
Michael Dompig says Joran went out on the boat and Joran says he did not. ?????????

…1906..the Gottenbos boat could of stayed in the water…no one knows, but if Natalee is in the sea someone had access to a boat. I think it was strange that the whole Gottenbos family left the island. Also Steve Croes lied for Joran. Generally you lie when your involved. I think the drugs they gave her may of killed her. And they couldn’t call 911 or report anything because of what they had done. So the next step was she has to disappear.

What is so heart breaking is that they know. And they let the family suffer everyday. Their all cowards protected by the ALE and the gov’t, even though Dompig says they are guilty. You can still have a murder case without a body. Our next step!!

      God is Love…

      1 Corinthians 13:1-13

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a sounding [piece of] brass or a clashing cymbal.

And, if I have the gift of prophesying and am acquainted with all the sacred secrets and all knowledge, and, if I have all the faith so as to transplant mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

And, if I give all my belongings to feed others, and if I hand over my body that I may boast, but do not have love, I am not profited at all.

      Love is long-suffering and kind.

      Love is not jealous,

      it does not brag,

      does not get puffed up,

      does not behave indecently,

does not look for its own interests,

      does not become provoked.

It does not keep account of the injury.

It does not rejoice over unrighteousness,

      but rejoices with the truth.

      It bears all things,

      believes all things,

      hopes all things,

      endures all things.

      Love never fails.

      20. Viet Vet: Exactly.

I wanted to post something I did not say on Greta’s blog in the past few days (and I had a lot to say over there :-) ). The investigation was handled in a way that made it so obvious there was a coverup in place. It really was a slap in the face of the family as well as all Americans who were watching the news and praying for Natalee and her family. While the first few weeks we may have thought they were inexperienced and we knew there were things we didn’t understand, it became clear later, especially as they compared it to OJ Simpson, that they were letting the perps walk and letting us know there was nothing that Beth, Dave or the US media and public could do to stop them. That’s when the attitude towards U.S. tourists became clearer. Whether your name is Bud Larsen or Natalee Holloway or Amy Bradley or something else, it will be your own fault if something goes wrong for you in Aruba. The lesson here: DON’T GO THERE. I suggest Hawaii, Newfoundland, Denver, Toronto, Wine Country-CA, just to name a few.

I posted that for you, but as I got half way through, I realized that my words would be lost in your self-pity and false sense of self righteousness.

This is Beth’s God. The most powerful God in all the Universe and it is through him and because of him that she gets her strength, not through some pagan ritual that is hidden behind a wall of smoke.

You don’t have us to worry about, all we can do is stop our loved ones from going to your island. All we can do is tell people about your crimes, your customs, your rituals and your corruption. True Justice will come from God and all of you that laughed in the face of those children while they cried, and, begged for you to stop, will feel the wrath of God.

The suit contends that the “Dr. Phil” talk show altered portions of a secretly recorded conversation between Deepak Kalpoe and a private investigator to “create false, incriminating, and defamatory statements that the plaintiffs engaged in criminal activity against Natalee Holloway.”

      That case is pending.

Holloway’s parents sued in the same California court a day after the brothers filed their legal action.

A lawyer for the Kalpoes said he was pleased that the parents’ suit was dismissed.

“It was what we anticipated,” William Cremer said. “The only reason it was filed was to detract attention from the ‘Dr. Phil’ case.”

The parents could file a wrongful-death suit against the Kalpoes in Aruba, but “they don’t have a shred of evidence against them,” he said.

Don’t forget the San Juan Islands in Washington State in the summer… georgeous!!!!!

Or… Otter Rock, Oregon where the tides roll out to display an array of sea creatures. Where hump back whales spray their mist into the sky, while the sea otters warm themselves on the rocks in the morning sun.

We have everything we need, right here. We don’t need to go searching for paradise on some volcano stricken pile of ash and endanger the lives of our families in the process.

      10061906 #6,

      Wow,

You could write the plot for a major movie, and I’m not calling it fiction.

We of little means just absolutely don’t know the games that are played by the big players, and we very well may not know the major players, even when they seem like small fish.

To me, Joran and Paulus don’t seem worth the effort—that is to protect them, but maybe a bigger fish swallowed the small fish, and then a bigger one, until “holy mollie” we have a whale, or maybe a whaler like Captain Cook or should I say Captain Van Cook.

I went to college with a guy who is a P.E. for Valero. He has made a fortune, and he would have two fortunes if he could keep his sex life at home with his wife. He spends too much on extracurricular activities, and other “homes” abroad. I wish I had his money—I would spend it wisely. (covetous I know).

Anyway, good research and excellent plot.

As Waterboy says, Paulus and Joran don’t seem worth the effort. There are bigger fish involved. Such as Posner, Straaten and all those involved making decisions to protect tourism.

Where there any consequences for Posner allowing Joran, a minor, to drink and gamble at his hotel? And issuing him a line of credit. And why was Joran, not a guest at the hotel, allowed guest privileges. That in itself would spell the interference of safety for the tourists. Posner, the criminal, according to the law in Aruba he should not be permitted to own a hotel. How does he get away with that? Good friend of dirty paper work Paulus.

So Paulus and Anita, what consequences are there for you? Allowing Joran, underage, to drink and gamble. Running around the island like some kind of nut. Kidnapping, raping, OH, he’s done this 20 times before. Does that make him head pimp? Look’s like you don’t exercise any kind of control or discipline! I guess you prefer him as your delicious sporter. Yuck! But now it is possible that he is guilty of murder. Joran the psychopath!

“God is a (sic) Arubian (sic).”

Thus spake #16. The spelling and grammar are as impeccable as the logic and humanity exemplified in this statement.

I find it interesting that so many people above seem to agree with my suspicion that this whole case is much bigger than the failed wannabe judge, three punk kids (and maybe a few more).

So let’s ponder: clearly the best thing that Aruba could have done for its tourism is to settle this promptly and prosecute those responsible. Why wasn’t this done?

To look at the question another way, if only a few persons were involved in the cover-up (and I don’t think anyone can doubt now that a cover-up has been in place since day one, or nearly so), why can’t the rest of Aruba take the action that would seem necessary to protect its economy?

My idea: something bigger is at stake, something they dare not reveal. And that can’t be the accidental death, or even the deliberate murder, if you will, of one American girl. If the case were that “limited,” then surely the Aruban government would realize that taking action would only help sweep the filth off of their image.

That image now is irremediably tarnished, to be sure, but doing something, and being SEEN to be doing something, would help it somewhat.

So instead, why does the cover-up persist?

You know my suspicion … letting it be known that Natalee was handed over to drug lords and was taken off the island alive would doom their tourist business for all time. Even the U.S. government would have to do SOMETHING at that point.

Jossy Mansur says that didn’t happen to Natalee. Why not? Because he’s never heard of such a thing happening on Aruba.

That’s about the weakest argument I’ve ever heard (though it doesn’t prove I’m right, of course).

    66. Bob on October 3rd, 2007 9:48 am

Too bad there’s not a supply of Beth’s book that could be handed to passerby and visitors to ATA shows and displays at malls, casino’s, and elsewhere as they crop up. Can you imagine how effective that would be?

I’m thinking of the upcoming “show” scheduled at the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, NJ at the end of this month. A table in the hallway outside their room on the convention floor would counter their toursim efforts and spread the words of injustice against Natalee. Just an idea.

Here’s an interesting, though horrifying, article. Remember the case of the West Virginia black woman held captive by six whites (including a mother and daughter)?

According to this, it’s now believed that she was imprisoned for a MONTH, not a week.

Well, at least something like this couldn’t happen on Aruba … not to mention someone’s being sold to drug lords. Can’t happen to an American, you know.

(Warning: some of this article is extremely graphic, and all of it is repulsive to read. But that doesn’t make it any less true.)

      http://www.louisianaweekly.com/weekly/news/articlegate.pl?20071001c

West Va. victim was captive for a month, authorities day
      By Cash Michaels, Contributing Writer
      October 1, 2007

(Special to the NNPA from the Wilmington Journal) – Startling new twists and turns in the Megan Williams case, the 20 year-old black West Virginia woman who was allegedly kidnapped, raped and tortured by six white career criminals, three of whom are women.

All six suspects have now been charged with kidnapping, the most serious charge that can carry up to life in prison upon conviction.

They have all also been charged with at least one count each of first-degree sexual offense, which if convicted, could carry a sentence of up to 35 years behind bars.

Meanwhile, Logan County Sheriff’s investigators have now revised their original theory that Ms. Williams was held captive for a week.

In court testimony Tuesday, authorities said they’ve determined that Williams had been kidnapped and held against her will at the Big Creek mobile home residence since August 2 – well over a month.

That is the same day that Bobby Ray Brewster, the 24-year-old son of Frankie Brewster, was released from jail after serving time for assaulting and threatening Williams in July.

The suspects – Frankie Lee Brewster, 49; her son, Bobby Ray, 24, who authorities believe had some sort of relationship with the alleged victim; Danny Combs, 20; George Messer, 27; Karen Burton, 46, and her daughter Alisha, 22 – are alleged to have taken turns making sure that during Williams’ captivity, she did not escape either from the mobile home where the Brewsters lived, or the shed where the young Black woman was being held prisoner.

The criminal complaint filed in the case alleges that during her captivity, Williams was beaten and raped repeatedly. She was stabbed several times with a knife in her left leg, and choked with a cable chord around her neck.

Williams, who has been confirmed to be mentally challenged, was also allegedly forced to eat rat and dog feces, in addition to drinking water from a toilet, and licking blood from the floor.

Authorities say Williams was raped at knifepoint, and that one of the female suspects, Karen Burton, allegedly choked and pulled the hair of the Black woman, telling her, “This is how we treat ni***rs here.”

Williams’s hair is still noticeable short and patchy from where her hair was yanked from her head.

During the probable cause hearing, prosecutors presented what they say is evidence of some of the weapons used to torture Williams, including a knife, fly swatter and wooden stick – each seemingly stained with what investigators believe to be dried blood. They won’t know for sure until test results come back.

On Imhotep Gary Byrd’s “Nightflight” radio program on WLIB-AM in New York Sunday night, a man identified as the victim’s uncle, Robert Williams, told listeners from West Virginia that he visited with his niece Sept. 14 while she recovered from her extensive injuries in a Charleston, W. Va. hospital.

He said his niece’s wrist and arm had been broken; there were rope burns around her neck; the stab wounds in her left leg indicated that the knife used was pushed straight through; there were Black and blue bruises on her face and around her eyes; and that Megan had been beaten so badly, she urinated blood.

He also indicated that it was clear she had sustained the wounds and injuries that had not been attended to for some time.

During that broadcast, Williams called the suspects who allegedly accosted his niece “hillbillies.”

It was an anonymous tip received by the Logan County Sheriff’s Dept. that sent deputies to the Big Creek trailer home of Frankie Brewster on Sept. 8 searching for the Black woman.

Brewster, who was sitting outside at the time, allegedly told deputies that she was alone, and got up to walk inside.

That is when a clearly traumatized Megan Williams suddenly staggered out of the mobile home, arms outstretched, begging the deputies to “Help me!”

Authorities indicated that while Williams willingly went to the mobile home on Aug. 2, apparently to see Bobby Ray Brewster, she was not allowed to leave.

In fact, Logan County prosecutors say, the Black woman was warned that if she tried to escape, the shed would be set on fire, and she would be killed.

Investigators added that Bobby Ray Brewster had threatened to put a bag over the Black female victim head, and hang her from a tree if she tried to leave.

Charges against Frankie Brewster include three counts of battery and giving false information to law enforcement during a felony investigation, in addition to the kidnapping and first-degree sexual offense charges.

Her son, Bobby Ray, faces kidnapping, sexual assault, malicious wounding and sexual assault during the commission of a felony.

Karen Burton is charged with 13 counts of battery, in addition to malicious wounding, kidnapping and sexual assault.

Her daughter, Alisha, has been tagged with eleven counts of battery and malicious wounding.

George Messer faces six counts of battery, along with kidnapping and sexual assault, and Danny Combs has to defend himself against three counts of sexual assault, in addition to malicious wounding.

Records show that all six suspects have been in serious trouble with the law before, racking up a grand total of 108 criminal charges since 2001, excluding the latest.

The most serious belong to Frankie Brewster, who in 1996 pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of an 84-year-old person in her care. Brewster originally faced a first-degree murder charge.

She only served five years in prison.

Now that prosecutors have established probable cause against the six, it is expected that they will take their evidence to a Logan County grand jury for indictments.

The alleged crime has not only shocked the Logan County community and state of West Virginia, but overloaded the court system there temporarily.

Several public defenders that had represented some of the suspects before were forced to recuse themselves from doing so in this case.

Representatives of the NAACP, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the local Black Ministerial Alliance met with Logan County prosecutor Brian Abraham to express their concern that so far, neither state nor federal hate crimes charge have been applied.

“I explained to them the focus will remain on securing evidence regarding the most serious allegations,” Abraham told The Charleston Gazette. “Once the investigation is complete, we will make the determination on whether other charges, such as hate-crime charges, might be warranted.”

That meeting was followed Saturday by a mass rally at St. Phillip’s Baptist Church in the Logan County community of Cora, where outrage was expressed over the alleged brutal crime.

But local leaders told the community that they would abide by the handling of the case for now, to make sure that the suspects are indeed punished to the fullest extent of the law on the most serious charges.

Meanwhile, the alleged victim, who is still on the mend from her brutal, month-long experience, has been charged by authorities in three local West Virginia counties on 11 misdemeanor counts of writing worthless checks, one misdemeanor count of obtaining property under false pretenses, and one felony count of failure to appear in Circuit Court.

Megan was tearfully arraigned on September 18 as her outraged foster mother, Carmen Williams, watched.

The young girl clutched a teddy bear during the process.

Robert Williams, Megan’s uncle, told The Wilmington Journal that given his niece’s mental challenges, he believes if she wrote the worthless checks, she didn’t realize what she was doing was wrong.

I’m sorry guys. Beth Holloway needs to toughen up and come out swinging. Someone needs to tell her it’s the bottom of the 9th inning. Or the final 2 minutes of the game. Aruba has done nothing for two years. She needs to start point blank calling people out. And not holding back. What are they gonna do in Aruba to get even. Stop looking for info about what happened to Natalee??? They never did anyway.

    69. Richard on October 3rd, 2007 10:15 am

And the U.S. government somehow has to be held accountable for not demanding action for a missing American citizen. This is what makes Natalee’s case so significant: the Holloway Twittys are grappling with a whole foreign government, a hostile one.

And they have been doing this with no help from the powers that be. Only from we, the people.

    70. minnesota dad on October 3rd, 2007 10:35 am

      Richard,

I don’t buy the taken off the island stance.

This case was quicksand and it pulled everyone and Aruba in.

The Caribbean islands have always covered up murders where islanders have killed tourists. They know the game. Go through the motions….arrest the ‘usual suspects’…and then six months later release the usual suspects and state there was no evidence. Media and families will have disappeared and no one will follow up. Tourism moves on unscathed.

The problem with Aruba is that early on Straaten and Janssen began the execution of the cover-up. Straaten knew it was a homicide and commented openly that he had seen the evidence of the homicide. Janssen began the ‘drill’ of arresting the two ‘black guys’ that would lose six months of their lives in order to cover-up for Joran and Paulus. Remember….there was overwhelming evidence against the two? Remember the ‘perp walks’ where the media was tipped off well in advance in order to see these ‘vicious murderers’ arrested and their homes ransacked by ALE?

The quicksand had now pulled in Straaten and Janssen. Would have been OK…had Beth not appeared on the island within 24 hours of Natalee’s disappearance and Beth began the process of immediately exposing the cover-up.

They could have arrested PVDS and JVDS early on, but now the highest law enforcement and justice officials would be exposed for attempting to cover-up. Tourism would have been destroyed when corruption at this level was exposed.

From there we saw Paulus and his Dutch black robed friends take over to make sure they hindered every possible angle to make sure this case would never be solved. The FBI was excluded from any involvement…by judicial order. Paulus was provided a letter from Janssen stating he was no longer a suspect which was used to put in place judicial orders that place Paulus outside the chance of him being prosecuted. By judicial order on sight of the VDS residence we saw search warrants amended to the point where no reasonable search and investigation could be done. By judicial order (and sneakily done when Katrina hit I might add), JVDS was released and he fled to the Netherlands.

Witness statements disappeared. Try finding PVDS’ 6/17/07 or Lorenzo’s 6/17/07 witness statements. It is well documented in the media that they were questioned as witnesses…but their statements have disappeared.

All of the other perps involved also fled to the Netherlands. It was a case of get everyone off of the island that have information on the case.

I do agree that it is very odd that JVDS and his ‘third base’ card playing buddy…were up to shenangans at the casino. More likely in my opinion is that they were money laundering. Coming to the casino with drug money in order to ‘filter’ it into the washing machine. This in itself is not only a crime, but brazenly apparent that Aruba wants nothing to do with money laundering prosecution. Aruba is just ignoring the facts that these crimes were committed (anyone ever hear how much Aruba fined the casino for providing a minor, JVDS, not only the ability to play cards…but privileges only the highest rollers get at the casino?).

This whole case was a date rape gone bad. A cover-up gone bad. A situation where government actors, under the color of law, obstructed and intentionally lost evidence, and used the system to distance the perps from prosecution. PVDS could not move from Aruba…this would smell too bad…however everyone else could and did. Instead, PVDS was protected by the courts so that he is untouchable.

Now we have the KLPD participating in the cover-up. One year they have had to ‘review’ the evidence. We all know that there is no evidence left because of all of the people…including the Aruban judicial and government officials… that would be brought down if the truth came out. Instead, we see the KLPD practice the same strategy that Aruba practiced for the first year and a half — stall until the media forgets about the case.

Aruba and the KLPD…the Internet will forever document your misconduct on this case. Please insult us by closing this case and showing that you were complicit and an accessory after the fact to a murder.

      md

    71. disgustedmom on October 3rd, 2007 10:36 am

#66…Bob…you might could hand out copies of a page or two of Beth’s book…there are some parts in it that would definitely deter a trip to Aruba even being considered. As far as I know, it’s not copyright infringement or against any other law to copy a small sampler of a book and give it away.

    72. disgustedmom on October 3rd, 2007 11:09 am

#60, brie…after reading just half of Beth’s book, I no longer think the coverup was to protect tourism. Rather, I am more inclined to think it was to throw weight around that they will do whatever they want to do and no one can stop them.

All the kind peon-type citizens of Aruba like those who helped Beth excepted, I think generally down there they just don’t give a shit what happens to anyone. And ‘anyone’ includes their own friends and co-workers, not just tourists…IMO it’s all about drug money and other sorts of underhanded and illicit forms of monetary gain…but NOT tourism per se. Tourism is just the doorway to a much bigger kettle of fish that what would go on in Aruba anyway even without tourists. In other words, only the little people would suffer from a loss of tourism.

In short, IMO, they threw Natalee away because she was too much trouble; they were more concerned -or maybe I should say Only concerned- with the status quo, with what being in power on the island of Aruba has afforded them. They have no patience for ripples in their lives such that would come from a loving mother wanting to know where her precious daughter is. They can’t even conceive of that sort of love being important to anyone. They love money and power over who gets it. And I think they love being able to discard people who get in the way of their mindless days of enjoying the status quo and probably toast each other on a regular basis the longer this case goes unresolved.

    73. Meee on October 3rd, 2007 1:09 pm

I have to agree with Minny dad. Things did snowball on the Aruban police and Gov’t. They know how and when she died. But they are now all in way to deep to get out now.

    74. Richard on October 3rd, 2007 2:51 pm

If they know that the suspects are in fact the criminals, they could manufacture something if need be to bring them in tomorrow.

I’m not saying that I have to be right on the idea that Natalee was taken off the island alive (which of course doesn’t prove that she still IS alive) … but human trafficking and drug trafficking are known to go hand in hand.

Some individuals above believe that the second was involved here … why not the first as well?

No evidence for it, as far as I know … no evidence against it, either, as far as I know.

That is, of course, hard and fast evidence, not conflicting statements made on the Internet.

I could well be wrong. If Tim Miller and Art Wood are right, I certainly am wrong. And if they prove their case by finding remains, more power to them.

But it will take something like that to convince me. I don’t believe true investigators close their minds to alternative explanations until those alternatives are PROVEN to be impossible.

Why not email Beth and ask her permission to photocopy some parts of the book for handouts at the anti-ATA protests? I’m sure that she’d be willing … I know she was gung-ho about what we did at Boston, which got the ball rolling.

At least, that’s what she said.

    77. Aruba on October 3rd, 2007 6:35 pm

Aruba was turned upside down, everybody was looking for Natalee and we did all we could.
But you have to understand that we are a small island and we have our own problems that also have to be taken care of, I’m not saying that Natalee is not important ofcourse not.
I think it’s really unfair that everybody is slamming Aruba, USA has thousands of people who go missing everyday and no one is slamming ths US every time they can’t find someone.
We did so much, evey Arubian searched and did all they could, and that’s more than happens in the US.
We are still trying to find out what happened to Natalee and we’re sorry for the pain that her family and friends are going through.

My point is that we did all we could and we are still searching, and it is not fair that everybody is boycotting Aruba because they think we didn’t do anything, we’re a small island, we don’t have the money for the technology that’s out there, but for Natalee we brought stuff from the Netherlands we spent a lot of money in the search and we still are.

Just thought you’d like the other part of the story.

    78. downloadingdaddy on October 3rd, 2007 7:12 pm

I bought Beth’s book today and plan on meeting her at the book signing in my city in about 2 weeks.

I can’t believe how silent the Netherlands and Aruba have been after all this time, I wish that they would just do the right thing and come clean on what they truly know and end the suffering once and for all.

      Justice For Natalee!

Boycott Aruba, If you don’t it might be your last vacation

    79. Aruba on October 3rd, 2007 7:44 pm

“Boycott Aruba, If you don’t it might be your last vacation”

I’m sorry but how many people from all over go to the US and get raped, killed, kidnapped ect?
How many Americans go on vacation all over the world and disapear?
It’s easy to bully a little island, why don’t you guys get so upset about the thousands of people, Children!! who are missing in the US.

You can say all you want about Aruba, but if you haven’t come here before, you don’t know how the island and it’s people are.

    80. Patti on October 3rd, 2007 11:21 pm

      Aruba:

The reason we don’t get as upset when it happens elsewhere is because the authorities assist the families in obtaining information about the last person seen with the victim and move on it. That didn’t happen here.

Instead, the Chief of Police, who is Paulus Van der Sloots best friend and God-Father to Joran Van der Sloot stalled the investigation and never brought the suspects in for questioning until over a week after Natalee went missing. Not only that, but a search of the Sloot property was never properly executed, because a judge who is also a friend of Paulus Van der Sloot prevented the search of the main house and limited the search to include only Joran’s apartment. The Sloot property consists of several buildings, non of which were included in the search.

The favoritism that was shown to the citizens of Aruba is not appropriate when the life of a young girl is involved. The police, the Commisioner, the Judges, and even the Ministers showed no concern for the safety of this child… only for the reputation of the island of Aruba.

I have been to Aruba. I came on a cruise ship before the disappearance of Natalee. I shopped in small shopping center which is near the shiping docks and had a coke with my sister and daughter in the McDonalds there in the center. We walked around the small downtown area and in the afternoon shopped at the tables that are set up for the venders that bring their hand-made art.

Before the disappearance of Natalee, I had nothing against Aruba. But with the way that your authorities, and, especially, your ministers have conducted themselves over the past two years, I will not be returning… nor will any one in my extended family return to Aruba.

There are too many other places that treat their tourists with the same preference as they do their own people… with just as much concern as if it were their own daughter. That was never the case in Aruba… ever!

      .

      Justice for Natalee

Aruba — I think Greta made it pretty clear that the problem in NOT with the majority of the kind and friendly people of Aruba.

The problem is, that it is good common sense NOT TO TRAVEL to lawless places, where there is no protection for tourists, law enfocement is corrupt and where tourists are actually targeted. Especially American toursits.

And yes — there is crime everywhere. And there are devils everywhere. But why travel someplace where there is no hope of JUSTICE if you are an American (btw — the American guy that chased the choller down after his wife was assaulted — the American still in jail??)

And it is ironic that you refer to Aruba as being ‘bullied’.

That term ‘bully’ — I think there is a picture of JVDS in the dictionary next to that one. One of your very own.

I hope you use your vote wisely in your next election, Aruba. It is the only chance of healing and survival for your island.

    84. dennisintn on October 4th, 2007 9:05 am

#79, we’ve been watching the people of aruba lie and distort the facts of natalee’s disappearance for over 2 years. there’s something rotten to the core of a whole country that blames the victim and family of a rape/murder/disappearance of an l8 yr. girl. you can have your damned island, i’ll just check into a prison here for a vacation when i need to associate with people of aruba’s ilk. at least if i get killed in the prison, there will be a reasonable investigation of the murder and a chance for justice.

#77 ARUBA: we had people offering to bring equipment at no charge to Aruba and were denied by your fat police chief Dumbpig. would you like some cheese with that whine?
your island has done everything possible to derail the investigation and to further destroy evidence and last but not least, treat the criminals responsible for this like royalty. if you had really tried you would have your officials to re-arrest the suspects, (all of them, including karin jaansen) and drain the truth from them. instead you do nothing but hate on Natalee’s mother and father for wanting answers to what really happened to thier daughter. You and your people let Dave Holloway dig through your filthy garbage by himself looking for Natalee, offering nothing but an insult. this is your fate: misery, murder, rape, crime, corruption, drugs, death, starvation, disease, pestilence, enjoy it.

    86. Miss-Underestimated on October 4th, 2007 2:44 pm

All this spinning Aruba, you know dang well why this is an ongoing story. It is the corruption of your ALE and goverment that will not come clean about what happened to Natalee.
If Aruba would have come clean and locked up those responsible, this would have been put to rest.
Now over two years later the story of Natalee Holloway and the abuse the her mother has had to face from Aruba will not rest.

Aruba just keeps spinning and now people all over the world know what your bottom line is $$$$.

You tried to spin the tales of Beth and Natalee and now people can see exactly how you treat your treasured visitors.

Everyone of us in life has to dance to the music we create in life. We all have to pay the piper.

We here have very thick skins but just imagine what the reader’s of Greta’s blog are thinking & saying right now after watching Aruban’s attack the victim’s.

    89. Miss-Underestimated on October 4th, 2007 3:43 pm

Yep, Mayan for everyone to see. I cannot recall a group of people hating someone so much.

It reminds me of the OJ case when they turned the tables on Nicole, pretty much saying she deserved it.

Did anyone else notice that, like, there was barely any people in Aruba when Beth and Greta were there? What’s up with that?

    90. mayan_moons on October 4th, 2007 7:04 pm

I very recently moved from California to Denver Colorado and found out earlier this week that Beth would be in Littleton (a suburb just south of Denver). I bought the book Monday and will be at Tattered Covers tonight. It’s my understanding that she will be reading from the book as well as signing. I’m excited, but so sad too. I’ve been with this story since day one. I am really looking forward to meeting Beth but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get a single word out of my mouth without blubbering like a fool. I normally read books during lunch but found out right away that this book is impossible to read with dry eyes. I’m happy for Beth that she and John Ramsey have found comfort in each other’s company.

      Well first,
Aruba is a WONDERFULL PLACE! Who ever wants to disagree, go ahead, but I as an aruban, I’m fed up with all this crap all of you are saying about aruba! Have you guys ever been there? I didn’t think so. Okayy. So just stop taking shit about Aruba. it’s a wonderfull place to go and be at. But none of you will really know cuz u listen to everything people say. Aruban people are kind and nice. Don’t blame the friking ISLAND for one case. Its crap!

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Natalee Holloway. We never know what God has in store for us.So its important that we spend as much time with our love ones before death face them.I think what happen Natalee got caught up in drinking on the day she went missing. And she met some boys in they took her too the beach in try to rape her,but she was fighting for her life.So they murder her and took her body in dump it in the ocean for the sharks to eat.If they didn’t do nothing to her then they should have got some type of help for her.Second of all her mother Beth is to blame because you don’t let your child go to another country unless you’re going to be with your child.

    95. natalie edelin on April 4th, 2010 4:40 pm

I know i’m a stranger to you, but don’t give up. I still think you might have a chance to see if she’s alive. I watched the video of Joran about him saying that his father sold Natalee in Venezuela. I have found out that they’re many cases of young women that are being sold from Aruba to Venezuela for trafficking, or as in slavery. Also, i’m sure you know that there are more young women that are disappearing in Aruba that are being sold for slaves, like Amy Brady. They think she was sold into slavery. I’ve also checked into Venezuela’s, there are more than 50,000 young women that are being treated as slaves. I know i’m just 17 years old but don’t give up, i know you won’t.You Just still might have a high possiblilty of finding her.
