Grammy Voters Rob other Music Artists of Awards to Give Dixie Chicks a Political Revenge

GRAMMY’s … shut up and vote for talent not politics.3pigs2

The Grammy and MSM should be ashamed of themselves. To get even at George W. Bush they now find it ok to vote for the Dixie Chicks and their anti-Bush agenda rather than voting for what was the best and most talented music artists. What a pathetic shame that The Grammy’s would penalize other hard working and talented music artists for a political agenda. I wonder how those who got screwed last night feel?

So the music artists who just write and play great music are punished because the Grammy voters wish to make a political statement. That’s music? Liberal hate and an agenda has now permeated the music industry to the point where musicians cannot receive awards fairly?

“I think people are using their freedom of speech with all these awards. We get the message.” (Natalie Maines)

By the way Dixie Chicks, as Lorie Byrd at Wizbang so well stated it,

The Dixie Chicks did not get “whacked” by the government. If anyone “whacked” them it was their fans who like their music without political sermonizing, thank you very much. It was the country fans who chose in droves to stop buying their CDs and told DJ’s they didn’t want to hear them on the radio.

What a better way that the Grammy’s slapped back at all the Country fans who disowned these three a long time ago … award them Country Album of the Year. Who are you kidding? Country fans used their freedom of speech a long time ago and told the “Chicks” to go packing.

Some other great commentaries … “Predictable” by The Blue Crab  and Sister Toldjah with “The mediots couldn’t be happier”.

When Natalie go on the stage after the first win, I changed channels. I say let the record sales speak.

I and some others at my home to watch, have decided next year we will find something else to watch.

      I trust no one.

    2. Miss-Underestimated on February 12th, 2007 2:27 pm

BTW as they self proclaimed they are not country

While we are on the topic
Natalies dress reminded me of those paper thingys you put on a crown roast.

I gave Natalie her wish when she stated … there goes TV set turning off across America.

      Yes they did.

No one buys your music and no one plays it … rather humerous that the only way they can get an award is through a staged vote.

Best change your name to “Liberal” Chicks cuz Dixie wants no part of you.

That was the only part of the grammys that I was able to see. How disappointing for that to be the first thing I saw after turning on the tv. Then I proceeded to explain to my step-daughter how it was politically motivated.

The funny thing is I do listen to country music and I have never heard anything played off of this album locally. The radio stations here do not play it because as Red said “Dixie wants no part of the chicks”

Thanks Monkeys for having the nerve to speak up for what is right! Rosie O’Donnell is cheering them on and that in itself should tell any sane person something just is not right.

      What does BTW mean?

I’m not crazy about the dixie chicks’ music, but I am completely embarrassed about how the country reacted to the singer’s statements. There’s a great film documentary about the whole mess, called “Protesting the Dixie Chicks”:

What a bunch of crap….country music fans didn’t amke this choice that’s for sure…country music fans told them to go to hell a long time ago….I changed channels when miss big mouth said…..there goes TV set turning off across America….yep for once she was right!

    11. mrs. red on February 12th, 2007 6:12 pm

      Para2legal,
it means by the way. I listen to Country Music all the time… and I have never heard the Dixie Chicks song. ever. I do love Carrie Underwood’s song about taking a Louisville Slugger to the car though!

    12. Maggie on February 12th, 2007 6:54 pm

I’m guessing the guys quickly forgot about the Dixie Chicks once Shakira and Wyclef came out and did “Hips don’t Lie” I turned it when they first came on. I never have approved of using such events for political matters. It’s really a big turn off. I hope Hollyweird never sets the standards for all the “common” people to live by.

    13. txchic on February 12th, 2007 6:57 pm

it’s really a shame that the voters decided to degrade the whole value of the award by giving it based on political views & guilt.

my entire family is very musical & we’d never heard anything off the dc new cd.

how sad for all the deserving artists.

    14. rockerr on February 12th, 2007 8:10 pm

The awards given to the Dixie Chicks were simply one thing….sending a message.

As you know, these awards were not given by the people. This was not the People’s Music Awards, rather less than 11,000 members of professionals in the music industry. One writer brought up the idea that the vote for the various catagories was so split, that the largest chunk of votes left were the politically active members who had the opportunity to “make a statement” with what amounts to a lackluster album and a really boring song.

First of all, there’s no way a song like that would take song of the year at the Grammys unless it had help, through collusion or other means, or jury nullification, just like the O.J. trial. And for them to win 5 awards if just not only improbable, but impossible! It looks like the Grammys jumped the shark last night, allowing politics to influence the outcome of not one but 5 awards and I personally could never look at them in any kind of positive light again, though that’s been coming for a long time now.

I’ve been a professional musician for over 35 years, a session player on albums and a touring sideman. I’m hearing nothing, and I repeat nothing, but disbelief at what happened last night. Some are asking for an investigation to see if there was indeed any wrong doing in the “winning” of these awards. And all along, Natalie and the world still actually think that they really won those awards.

Sad. Hope they never realize what really happened. They were used!

The song “Not Ready to Make Nice” won in 3 of the 5 Grammy Award categories the Dixie Chicks won, those 3 categories being Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

Here is the chart performance of “Not Ready to Make Nice:”

2006 Canadian Jam! Country Songs #1 (11 weeks)
      2006 U.S. iTunes Music Store #2
      2006 Canadian Jam! Hits 100 #3
      2006 VSpot Top 20 Countdown #1 (14 weeks)
      2006 U.S. Billboard Hot Digital Songs #8
      2006 Spanish Top 40 #17
      2006 Australia ARIA chart #18
      2006 U.S. Billboard Hot 100 #23
      2006 U.S. Billboard Pop 100 #23
      2006 U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary #32
      2006 U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs #36
      2006 UK Singles Chart #70
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_Ready_To_Make_Nice#Chart_performance

The song hit top of the charts in Canada but only #23 in the United States. Now what’s wrong with that picture?

I wonder if it was artistic merit or was it political merit folks at the Grammy Awards was considering when the Dixie Chicks and “Not Ready to Make Nice” was awarded “Song of the Year” and “Record of the Year?”

    16. yoyo muffintop on February 12th, 2007 8:53 pm

I can’t wait to hear more stupidity from them now that they have been given the “green light”. Penn, Baldwin, Dixie Chicks, etc – bunch of blow hards.

And that dress…Natalie, where’s your roommate Tootie?

    17. jackie on February 13th, 2007 1:40 am

Chicks can Crammy that Grammy where the US of A sun don’t shine. Traitors just can’t keep their big fat mouths shut. The USA isn’t ready to Make Nice with you. Jane Fonda has a dinner invite for you. You are European now remember? Go live with your own kind they are supporting you. The Grammy is a show biz thing, country fans didn’t vote it.

    18. jackie on February 13th, 2007 1:58 am

Hollywood has always been globalized, they start to side with other countries because their is a big fan base there. THEY FORGET WHERE THEY CAME FROM. Look at George Clooney with his Dafur movement, granted I feel for these people and what is happening to them but Clooney lives where? ITALY? and does his buddy Matt Damon and some of those guys. Yet when they start to fight for something they cry to the US people to support them and contact our govt over it. But where do they reside to avoid taxes? Crap on them and other celebrities and their political statements. They can all renounce their citizenship and then they won’t have to insult their country on foreign ground. Let them become citizens of their movements. Dixie Chicks go live in Europe we won’t miss you, you all look like DYKIE CHICKS now anyway. With your slicked back hair and all black clothing. Natalie Canada loves you as you love Canada, that’s where your husband is from, go live there. WE DON”T CARE, take your political opinions with you. We bought your records to hear you sing, not make records for political purposes and run your mouth. Go to Iran or Iraq you are so happy to defend them but don’t offend them they will cut your head off and make a video out of it, or maybe they will just blow you up. You stink and I used to love you, saw your FLY concert. Too bad you commied on us. What you said wasn’t about Bush, it was about bad mouthing your country on foreign ground. What would you say about your mother if she wasn’t doing things your way. Sure you have the freedom of speech to say what you want, but it is the soldiers who fought for that freedom for you. everything you have the USA gave to you, and you run your mouth about her. You are just weak and caved in to foreign disapproval to make yourself liked in the presence of another country. Go live there Clooneys.

      Jackie,

So true, I love it when these prima donna’s squeak.

It’s typical, like they are talking to peasants.

“Do as I say, not as I do.” Hollywood, Nashville, & Detroit, could wipe out any disease, famine, or economical, issues world wide, if they …. PUT THEIR MONEY WHERE THEIR MOUTH IS.

These self-proclaimed ambassadors of good will have become
Boring and a BUNCH of hypocrites.

    20. phoebe on February 13th, 2007 6:13 pm

Gee. I am an artist of some acclaim.
Does that mean I can go spout my political B.S. and have anyone listen to me?
I think these clowns should stick to their music. They constantly make arses of themselves and the worst part is, some other clowns actually listen to them!

    21. saspursfan on February 15th, 2007 9:45 am

Personally, I thought the Grammys were politically motivated. This puts the icing on the cake of what the Dixie Chicks are about and not about their music, it’s their Anti-American, Liberalistic, political attitude especially from that spoiled, egotistical, insincere, insecure, bull headed, selfish, stubborn little witch Natalie Maines.

Was Natalie Maines wearing a wedding dress? If so, from which one, Michael Tarabay’s or Adrian Pasdar’s?

If you want to see some gushy mushy lovey dovey stuff coming out of the Chicks fans mouths, check out the CMT message boards and go over to the Dixie Chick board and the Grammy board where they have turned it into another Dixie Chick board. One poster on there by the name of MCA5ll70 is a Hitler fan, while all of the others including that one are witches, warlocks, and bats for supporting those 3 Anti-Americans.
