Fox News Poll: Are You Kidding Me … 49% of Democrats Unsure They Want USA to Win in Iraq?

Which is worse? Not wanting to win a war or not knowing if you want to win a war. Democrats wonder why people think they are weak on defense? Another thing, what is up with 33% of the people in general? You either do not want to win or don’t know yourself?

Maybe someone from this polled group can explain how losing in Iraq is in America’s national interest seeing that about 46% of people polled think a loss in Iraq would encourage terrorists to attack the US.

We have heard over and over from Democrats, that they support the troops, but not the war. In a recent Fox News Opinion poll, 34% of Democrats polled stated they did not want President George W. Bush’s new Iraq plan to succeed and 15% stated they did not know. Are you kidding? 49% of Democrats want the United States to fail in Iraq or are unsure? They want the mission in Iraq to not succeed.

Do you personally want the Iraq plan President Bush announced last week to
succeed
?
                        Yes      No       (Don’t know)
16-17 Jan 07    63%     22                    15
Democrats        51%     34                    15
Republicans      79%     11                    10
Independents    63%     19                    17

From Hugh Hewitt at Town Hall

Friends, I’ll allow you a minute to wrap your minds around this, for we are truly through the looking class. Even though we have some 150,000 troops in harm’s way and we universally profess to “support the troops,” over 1/3 of our society either wants them to fail or doesn’t know if they want them to succeed. Even more chilling are the results regarding our currently dominant political party. 49% of Democrats either want us to lose in Iraq or “don’t know” if they want us to succeed.

Red State makes the statement that no one is allowed to say, “Don’t dare question their patriotism.”

If the United States loses the war in Iraq, do you believe terrorists would be more likely to be satisfied, and leave the United States alone or encouraged

to attack the United States again, or will it not make a difference to future

attacks?

Leave US Alone           Encourage to Attack     No Diff           (Don’t know)

16-17 Jan 07                7%                               46                     43                               5

Democrats                    11%                             36                     50                               4

Republicans                  4%                               61                     31                               4

Independents                5%                               46                     44                               5

There is no option here. We win or we get ready to build and house our children in madrassas. I don’t relish the idea of a beheading because I refuse to wear a burka. That is coming to our country if we do not win this war in Iraq. This is the battle for civilization. WE MUST WIN.

10:00 news last night. did you guys not see the Iraqi prime minister dissing Bush and our country ? these people have to want to take control of their own country. they want the U S to take all of the punishment and do all the fighting while they sit back and set our military squadrons up for attacks. this war will not be won until the Iraqi people stand up . their military and police are full of militants and terrorists and cannot be trusted.

So are 49% of the Dems pulling for the insurgents and terrorists?

Our troops are fighting for the freedom for THESE a$$h___?????

Well, this 49% consists only of those who will ADMIT it. I suspect the actual number is much, much higher if they were honest. Aside from promoting abortion and every other possible assault on unborn Americans, this is the only issue they have. Being in denial that there is a global jihad, The Third Great Jihad as it is known to some in the process of carrying it out, is part of the definition of being a Democrat.

I think a few are just aware of how totally suicidal and stupid it sounds to admit to being on the side of the Muslim extremist and so they pretend not to be. And perhaps a small number of them truly do not oppose this country in this regard. But by far and away, the vast majority do and it is what delineates their ideology from the rest of the country.

Think long and hard before voting in 2008. This time it may not just be about increasing our taxes or their creeping socialism but our very lives may well depend on the actions or inactions taken in the next four years.

Its is simply amazing that people would not want the US to succeed in Iraq … And we are supposed to actually listen to those thant would want us to fail.

I have thought we (USA) are being sabotoged from within.
We have lawmakers challenging the Constitution. We have judges locking up old men who want to take care of their wives and unlocking child predators, to kill time and time again.

We have schools that will not allow kids to hug, but teachers to rape.

We have a taxing system that will hound you for a few hundred dollars but cut a deal with a millionaire.

We have a VOLUNTEER military bar-none, greatest on earth, that think and know what they are doing in Iraq is what is needed to be done, but we have ppl who can’t even find it on a map, who are in Congress, telling us what the troops are doing is wrong.

Off my soap box and on my knees praying that we do not turn around and out of Iraq. Then this war will have been in vain.

      Comment by its_possible

No dipshit. The soldiers are fighting for Hallibuton and Brown/Root. You know: Cheneys buddies. Your soldiers are dying because of greed, arrogance, and an incredible small man temporarily residing in our white house. Is that clear enough for you?

    10. Scared Monkeys on January 19th, 2007 4:50 pm

#9, so I guess you would be one of the 49% that would actually want our troops to fail?

You one of those people who say they are for the troops, but against the war yet you want the mission to fail?

I thought it was a war for oil? Or are you Leftists off that bandwagon now that gas is below $2.00 a gallon because of an over supply?

Must be anazing to walk around with so much hate and know so little.

#3 – That’s exactly what it is. Wait until 49% of Democrats are Muslim. Break out the burkas ladies. With the Decency Police on every street corner.

Alarmist am I? That’s what they said to people who feared of a catastrpohic attack on the World Trade Center. And look what we got for our political correctness. 3,000 corpses.

If they wanted to conduct an honest poll, they would ask a simple question.

Do you want the United States (not Bush) to be victorious in Iraq?

They’re not stupid. There’s a reason they frame these questions the way they do.

Plus as with any poll, it’s the lead up questions that often determine the result. Given the fact that they made success or failure personal to Bush, it is likely the lead up questions were all about Bush.

Yes Minister had an illustration of how it works.

Sir Humphrey: “You know what happens: nice young lady comes up to you. Obviously you want to create a good impression, you don’t want to look a fool, do you? So she starts asking you some questions: Mr. Woolley, are you worried about the number of young people without jobs?”
      Bernard Woolley: “Yes”
Sir Humphrey: “Are you worried about the rise in crime among teenagers?”
      Bernard Woolley: “Yes”
Sir Humphrey: “Do you think there is a lack of discipline in our Comprehensive schools?”
      Bernard Woolley: “Yes”
Sir Humphrey: “Do you think young people welcome some authority and leadership in their lives?”
      Bernard Woolley: “Yes”
Sir Humphrey: “Do you think they respond to a challenge?”
      Bernard Woolley: “Yes”
Sir Humphrey: “Would you be in favour of reintroducing National Service?”
Bernard Woolley: “Oh…well, I suppose I might be.”
      Sir Humphrey: “Yes or no?”
      Bernard Woolley: “Yes”
Sir Humphrey: “Of course you would, Bernard. After all you told you can’t say no to that. So they don’t mention the first five questions and they publish the last one.”

So why not just ask if they want the United States to succeed? Because the vast majority of dems and repubs would say yes to that. But by equating Bush with the United States they’re able to say that Democrats want the United States to fail.

It’s all part of the blame game.

    13. mayan_moons on January 20th, 2007 7:52 pm

While Bush is our president he does equate the US & those *so called* Americans who want him to fail, want the US to fail.

And i fear the percentage of muslim democrats is high. Back in 2000 i chatted Alot & i saw the hostility directed toward Americans from so many different countrys. It was more than hostilty to me, it was pure hatred. It dismayed me that the british, canadian, french & others felt this way. That is until i learned that the british, french ect… ranting were not really british, canadian, ecct.
They were middle eastern muslim nationals transplants or the children of said nationals. It all made sense then & would talk about it with friends & family, that i was concerned about all these mideast muslims moving all over the world & hatching a gazillion little ones & that one day they would all rise up against the countymen who took them in. When the France riots occured & of course the WTC bombing I and II and the London bombing the friends remembered what i’d said & thought it freaky coz i’ve not really been a political person.

It used to make me crazy to see these idiots rant on how nothing bad ever happened under Clinton. (HELLO WTC I)

People who don’t support the US winning are not Americans to me. They put our entire way of life at risk & put glee in the hearts of manmen hell bent on our demise

    14. driving miss daisy on January 21st, 2007 1:02 am

America is the greatest, freest and most decent society in existence. It is an oasis of goodness in a desert of cynicism and barbarism. This country, once an experiment unique in the world, is now the last best hope for the world.
