Hey Animal Rights Activists … Forget about No Fur Friday … Worry about Abyssinian lion cubs being Poisoned

Make yourselves useful … Lion_cubs

If animal activists really cared, they would be screaming about rare Abyssinian lion cubs being poisoned in Ethiopia to save money rather than squawking about “Fur Free Friday”. Because of costs to run a zoo, Abyssinian lion cubs are being killed and sold to taxidermists. So much for the black maned lions being Ethiopians national symbol.

Wildlife experts estimate that only 1,000 Ethiopian lions, which are smaller than other lions, remain in the wild. Despite a recent crackdown, hunters also kill the animals for their skins, which can fetch $1,000.

Abdulaziz said it costs around $6,000 a month to run the zoo, but it only receives $5,000 in revenues from entrance fees. He added that the poisoning has been going on at least since he arrived two years ago; the number of cubs that have been killed was not immediately clear. (Yahoo)

      Here’s an idea!

Not our problem in America. Let’s “cut and run”.

No, just wanting to make a point…

The same folks crying we should get our noses out of Iraq will be on the front lines for this cause. Not that I don’t feel it is important. They are beautiful creatures! But watch with me to see who cries for the dead lion cubs, but never a tear for the dead Kurdish children. And just think! Both are far from our compfy boarders.

I happen to shed tears for all innocents(even our dear soldiers), doesn’t matter who they are or what political ideology they follow. So animals, kurds, sunnis, they all make my list of things to pray for at nite. Brenda, do you worry about the sunni children being killed, or only the kurds? Did GOD tell you that the sunnis weren’t worth your tears? Or did ole’ George tell you that? FWIW, before I get attacked for being a bleeding heart liberal, I am actually a fiscally conservative libertarian, who just happens to care an awful lot for mankind in general. This forum seems decidedly repub., and as a result, most of the posters come off as warmongering hateful anti-homo bigots. Sorry, but you really do sound hateful quite a bit, yet you represent as “Christians.” Well the Jesus I know loved all!

This is about the LIONS and a rare lion might I add. WHERE IS PETA ??? Other than being a PITA.

I’m not sure I see how killing for fashion or killing lions for expediency are different. Both are humans killing sentient beings. I understand the attitudes towards PETA, but there are other organizations working for animals, conservation and people on an international level. World Wildlife Fund, International Fund for Animal Welfare and the World Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are 3 I’m familiar with. As for children vs. animals, it’s not an either/or issue. No one can take on all causes. If you give to the Heart Association does that mean you don’t care about those with AIDS? No. I don’t believe that sentient beings should be killed for pleasure or profit. We also must protect wildlife habitats because those habitats support human life also. Once it’s gone, so are we.

SM,you are so right. This slaughter and genocide must stop.now

Sentient beings…please. Do you practice what you preach? I would be willing to bet NO. Do you realize how extreme you need to be to not believe that sentient beings should be killed for pleasure or profit? Your life is completely “animal free”? You obviously are against abortion under any, and I mean any, circumstance? You don’t own or have ever purchased one piece of leather I would assume?
Sorry, but the “sentient being” arguement is silly, since 99.99% of those that spout it are hypocrites themselves.

As for the judgemental, holier than thou (Pray for the Children) who thinks I do not care about Sunni children, get a clue. How about you pray for yourself tonight that GOD will forgive your judgemental attitude?

Don’t know what YOU consider to be GOD, but it must NOT be the same one I believe in because he warns about harming ANY child. So sorry I did not include every race that has ever been treated this way for nothing more than the color of their skin or religious beliefs.

As for SMs comment…yes…where the heck is PETA?

      Dear Ms. Prayer,

I don’t get annoyed at a poster like I am at you often, but you are so ignorant! I am actually a peacher’s daughter and have had the unfortunately opportunity most of my life to meet persons like yourself who hide behind the church as if that makes you a Christian. You feel justified to look down your filthy noses at others to feel better about yourselves.

Go and read the part about “judge not lest you be judged”. Ever heard of that concept? God came up with it, not me.

Yoyo,,who are you after today. Was it me? :>)

You certainly get the board in an uproar sometimes (no pun intended). I do agree many people NEVER practice what they preach. Too many. I have my opinions too, they are not perfect, but who is?

Hey, as my wonderful preacher dad would say to those who refused going to church over the number of hypocrites, “Don’t worry about it, there is ALWAYS room for one more! See you on Sunday!”

I do not attend any longer myself. I will not get up and dressed to have a pretty little sermon preached to me that would be more suitable for a 4 year old. You know…Let’s all feel nice about ourselves and go home. Lot of good that does! I have found a guy on the radio who blows away any preacher I’ve ever heard. Send my money there when I feel like it. Besides, we are living in our “church” if these holier than thou folks would actually READ the Book!!!!!!

Have a good one and try to behave ;>)

      Brenda
