Seems That Aruba is Asking For Advice … Too bad they Don’t Want to Listen to the Truth

Aruba’s tourism is continually down as compared to other competing islands. The rest of the Caribbean is up double digits in pretty much every case.

“The facts are clear: we are down, way down, compared to other competing islands.” AHATA

THE BIG QUESTION IS WHY? ARE YOU JOKING?

AHATA111106

(Click  on Bon Dia article to enlarge)

So Aruba wants answers … Can they handle what they will hear?

You would dare ask why? Maybe that’s why your tourism is down the drain. You continue to insult people’s intelligence asking why Aruba has suffered a tourism plight. I think Aruba Denial Arubaknows exactly why, Aruba is just unwilling to say it, rectify it, or acknowledge it. Aruba has stuck its head in its own beaches white sand for so long, that after 18 months since Natalee Holloway went missing you wonder why your tourism is nonexistent.

Do you not want to admit the truth? Do you live in a world of denial? Or are the people responsible for tourism that ignorant? Do you really want advice? Maybe you should listen to those who know rather than those that tell you what you want to hear.

From the very beginning when Natalee Holloway went missing, Scared Monkeys made the following comment, This Can’t Be Good For Tourism, Where’s Natalee Holloway. From the very beginning we were very honest and up front as to what would occur if Aruban officials were not sincere in their investigation. We told the good people of Aruba what would occur if the made the investigation a farce and put tourism over an investigation. We even told Aruba Tour for DumArubans and their voters that the most important issue during their elections was Natalee Holloway. Pridefully, they stated it was not. Instead, Aruba lived in a world of denial that this all would blow over. Americans would forget. They would come flocking back. Could Aruba have been any more wrong? Looking back in hindsight Aruba at your tourism and economy, do you think now that Natalee Holloway was not the most important issue? The downfall of your tourism and economy can be traced back to that one event.

Jamaica is up 17.7% year to date as compared to Aruba at a negative 10.3%. A difference of 28%. Even though the average tourist knows that Jamaica has more crime on it. The ATA scratches their heads and wonder how this is possible. Hint… Jamaica never boasted it was safe.

Aruba’s image for safety and hospitality has not recovered since last summer. Thus, the obvious question is: what specific actions has the ATA initiated to bring Aruba back on track …

The fact of the matter is that tourists feel betrayed by Aruba and its marketing claiming that its Excelsiorsafe when they have found out during the Natalee Holloway investigation that other woman had been attacked and gone unreported. However, the most important thing is that Aruba has showed all future tourists know that if they for some reason a crime is committed against them … it will not be investigated in an competent or sincere manner. You allowed under-age Arubans to gamble at will in your establishments even though your tourism propaganda states otherwise.

Aruba: No one under 18 years old is allowed in casinos.

You also allowed under age Arubans to drink in the bars where American tourists frequent. You thought nothing of why 3 boys would go to a bar 1/2 hour prior to closing to prey on high school girls on their last night of a vacation. But then again as Joran Van der Sloot stated, “we had done it 20 times before”. In both cases, neither Carlos N’ Charlies nor The Excesior were ever charged with anything for allowing such events to take place. You really wonder why tourists are not coming to Aruba?

SM CnC close view

Aruba … a teenage girl is missing and went missing while on your island. You did nothing but cover up the crime. Dutch law is so concerned with hard evidence like a confession or DNA, yet the 3 main suspects were not immediately arrested, their property confiscated or their last known clothes taken. Aruba, you can do all the marketing you want, it will fail. Most Americans are disgusted that such a poor effort with no sincerity was made.

Natalee Holloway 2

Going through the motions is not an investigation make. Most people see that and realize thats what took place. You sided with the three suspects and now how to pay the piper. Tourists have the right to make up their own minds how to punish Aruba for the three ring circus, you called an investigation. Satish_joran_depak_200182

A tourist island operates in the court of public opinion. You could have properly investigated, interrogated and prosecuted. Instead you played small island nepotism politics. Small minded thinking for those that wished to have outside people come to their island and spend money. By the way, you do not treat the family of a missing person, who is a victim in their own right as you did either. The whole world saw how you cruelly strung this family along under the guise of an investigation on an emotional roller coaster ride. You still wonder why your tourism is in the “where are they now files?”

We were up front with Arubans, officials, media from the outset as to the consequences. You chose not to listen as you knew better. What do you think now? Feel free to contact us, our email is not that hard to find for answers to your problems. If you really want to hear the truth. However, the answer to Aruba’s problems is rather simple … “Justice for Natalee”.

We have stated for quite some time, “What’s good for the Van der Sloots is terrible for Aruba.” What do you think now Aruba?

Another Aruban ploy, What did we do wrong? Did you do anything right? No! They are so full of s–t and playing another game. Just give Natalee back and shut the hell up, then prosecute and quit playing stupid and acting like morons.

    8. dennisintn on November 14th, 2006 7:51 pm

it appears that the vds family doesn’t have a lock on arrogance and egotism on aruba. the govt. and business community also thinks they can lie their way out of anything, and tourists just love them so much that they can treat them anyway they want to and get away with it.

aruban businessman to greta vs at the dump while dave is digging 20 ft. down looking for his daughter’s body: “this is bad for business, beth just needs to shut up, go home, and get over it”. hardened my heart to aruba in one heartbeat. then lying like dogs trying to trash natalee’s reputation and blame her for what happened was even worse. i wouldn’t spend a dime on that island or even shake hands with one of them on the street.

Maybe it’s those splashy print ads in the magazines or airline magazines touting Aruba, that when they are opened, have writing that says Aruba murders American tourists.

      Or “find Natalee.”

I managed to get at least 2 dozen marked in one flight. Or the picture of Natalee that’s spray painted on a Jet Blue Billboard on route 3 in New Jersey.

      Arube=Murder=Rape

Or could it be the Tacopina effect. By hiring him, everyone knew that meant he was trying to defend the guilty.

Gee, who paid him $5 million dollars? the Van der sloots?

      …or was it Ahata?

    11. Observer on November 14th, 2006 8:39 pm

All is quiet in aruba.. No more interviews,no news,no arrests or searches for Natalee. The 3 pimps havent even been questioned in over a year. All we have to look back at is likely the most obvious poor attempt at a coverup any of us have ever witnessed. The scary thing is they have gotten away with it.

First they thought they could just deny everything. Then they thought they could just destroy all evidence. Then they decided to lie there way through it and create more lies to hide the truth. Then they had the nerve to accuse natalee and her family.

They should have just shut up from the very beginning and many of us would not be getting angrier as this drags on.. Instead they went on record saying one thing, doing another and the next day saying something else. They even went as far as threatening beth and pointing the finger back at natalee and her family. Everyone has seen public officials, corrupt aruban law officials, aruba tourism board and the suspects themselves lie and get away with murder.

“I Lied and thats the truth”–Joran Van Der Sloot–

    12. Richard on November 14th, 2006 8:44 pm

Hey, folks … let’s do our part, as they said in World War II. Let’s share any and all info on who is running ads for Aruba … and then let’s slam those scum mercilessly. Aruba is trying to sneak in to our tourist market again through the back door. Deep discounts, etc.

Who, if not us, will speak up for the Holloway Twitty family? Is our government taking action … in the face of either a cover-up or obvious incompetence by Aruba, either of which is equally dangerous to our citizens?

Do we hear about Natalee in the media? Nope; the blowhard TV talk show hosts have moved on.

If ANYONE is going to keep the fires going, to keep the public pressure on Aruba, to keep awareness of the case before the public … it is we and we alone.

(Us and us alone? No, I think “we” is right.)

What we say on this forum goes no farther than ourselves.

What we say in letters can influence public opinion and markets. And clearly, if Aruba cares for anything, it is the markets.

if this is an ahata publication, then they’re lobbying to get the govt. to fork out another l5 to 20 mil for more advertising. softening the target, so to speak. ahata wants to tell us more lies about how comfy and safe everything is on the vile isle. and how well they treat victims and their families when tragedies occur.

we have heard nothing from the cold case team, and we haven’t even heard from the investigation of the investigation that the curacao prosecutor was supposed to finish last december or january of this year. that should give you an idea of when you might hear something.

let’s see now, the body of a 7 year old boy is found a year after he disappeared. anybody heard of any charges brought in that case? maybe he was written off as a heart attack or suicide, you know how these little boys are.

a l4 yr. old boy wearing a life preserver? falls off a jet ski, aruba finds the jet skis but can’t find the boy? what’s that all about?

a month before natalee disappears, a woman is attacked on the beach at the hotels. tourists finally hear about it when they’re looking for a scapegoat to get j2k off the hook in march of this year.

a l6 yr. old is gangraped at school this summer. phone pics are taken of the acts and sent to all the rapists friends. the little girl has to go off island to finish school, and the rapists are not charged even with pictures showing their crimes. the papers ask the people receiving these pics to Please delete the pics and don’t put them on the internet.

and these numbnuts think their pitiful ads bragging about safety on the island are going to be believed?

arrogance and egotism. and jvds had plenty of adult guidance to attain his diagnoses of sociopath and pathological liar.

I dont know what we can do except contact schools, travel agencies and govt. Or confront the scum ourselves. I am in for anything to help find justice for natalee. Is there someone out there that has a plan??

The 3 pimps are never gonna talk and the ALE is never going to prosecute or reveal what happened to natalee. It doesnt appear any new witnesses will give us any new false hope and the last little bit of truth we had heard was in june 2005.

It has been 19 months and I dont see anyone asking the right questions. If a proper investigation were to happen in november 2006 we would see like a dozen people arrested and convicted of crimes against natalee holloway. These include aruban officials and law enforcement and that just isnt going to happen.

We know all evidence and witnesses went through dennis jacobs. Will anyone outside of the ALE ever take a close look at what he didnt destroy or talk to any of the witnesses? It should only take a few hours to prove that mr.jacobs did what we all know he did.

We will then find out the obvious that he was following orders. We know Van Der Stratten was heavily involved but we all know it doesnt end there. Doesnt sound like it took paulus and his friends long to convince rudy croes/oduber that this needed to be covered up.

    26. hammer on November 14th, 2006 10:54 pm

      THE BIG QUESTION IS WHY.

Indeed. The big question is why.

The never-ending spiral of dispair was captured in the greatest work of western literature. John Milton was blind and close to death when he penned these words in “PARADISE LOST” –

“Which way I fly is Hell,
      Myself am Hell…

      And in the lowest deep,
      An even lower deep –

      Still threatening to devour me:
      Opens wide,

To which the Hell I suffer
      Seems a heaven…”

Thus spaketh Lucifer, Son of Light. The fallen archangel who became DEVIL.

His agony is captured here for us to know. A never-ending spiral of despair and misery was his. He would rather rule in Hell, than serve in Heaven.

So ask yourself WHY, Nel Obduber. Leader of the hell-hole called Aruba. And repeat after me:

“Which way I fly is Hell,
      Myself am Hell…”

And do not ever say these three words, or God will strike you down. You are not worthy of having these words cross your lips. Your speaking them is sacrilege. Never say these words, as they are sacred and cared for. They are words that belong to God, and not you. When you ask yourself “the big question” why — these are the words you cannot speak:

      “NATALEE ANNE HOLLOWAY”

      .

      .

Aruba you gave the people last seen with Natalee Holloway 10 days to get the stories straight and get rid of the evidence. Then you allowed the Pauless to sit in on the statement Joran gave and allowed Pauless to “clear some issues” up on the statement. What else have you allowed ALE?

Look what you have done to your island. Liars breed liars, you reap what you sow.

Now you want to bait more young women to your island. Well we’ll see, you can only perfume a pig so long before the smell comes thru.

    37. John Staton on November 15th, 2006 9:30 am

For a long time, I have attempted to introduce the people of Aruba to reality on this site from the view of an economist with experience in econometric projection. Looking at other places (US V I) as an example even with correction (which is not coming from Aruba) the minimum down turn will be 5-7 years. With their image completely destroyed only God know how long the down turn will last. The following blunt information should be reviewed:

The Aruba tourist industry will keep going down until it hits some base level. That level is unknown at this time, however until it reaches a level where investors feel very comfortable making new money investments it will stay very depressed.

The tourist money effects the economy in 2 ways. First, the obvious money to the tourist industry but in addition the taxes on this industry fuel the government and its large expenditures of pork through a bloated governmental structure. Recent tax increases put on the falling tourist industry and related industries have been for the benefit of the pork recipients. However, with economic activity continuing to decrease, the maximum level of tax acceptable by the economy continues to decrease forcing a Laffer effect upon the tax structure. This indicates that the regressive tax structure will actually produce an expediential decrease in tax receipts. Taxes received will actually be lower than if the increase had not taken place due to the increase damper on economic activity. The pork barrel is in trouble. The ruling class is in trouble.

The international banking community seems very in tune with these developments with the recent denial of a $53 million loan. Would you loan these idiots any money? Would you invest in a place like this? The answer we have all seen is no way in Hell!

Some day someone will write a book on how to destroy an island economy based on this. Chapter One should be “Insult your customers”.

Two Holloway articles in the last two weeks by the Enquirer. Hopefully they will keep showing more things. I know it’s only the Enquirer. But they do have a good fan base. #19 Dennisintn. Thank you for posting those facts. The recent gang rape of the 16 year old is particularly disturbing to me. Why aren’t these boys in jail?

Aruba: Do you really not realize what your actions told us about you? You made it clear that you will protect your own, not the tourists. You showed us that some of your values and standards of behavior are different from ours. Not that we don’t have these problems, but we don’t defend and protect them; we try to prosectue them. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the way you treated the Holloway-Twitty family, the US media, and the way you talked about Natalee, you made it very clear how you feel about Americans. You told us you can do what you want and we can’t stop you. You lied to the media, Natalee’s family, the US and Aruban public. You continue to bite the hand that feeds you. We couldn’t stop you from destroying evidence, intimidating witnesses or otherwise “protecting” your own. But we don’t have to buy a ticket to go visit you.

ShermansTravels.com has cut rate deals to Aruba 75% off.
Try there, and plenty of rooms for the rest of this year.

These are not OUR figures, they are from The Aruban Hotel and Tourism Association. Are you saying they are lying? The International Monetary Fund, the UN, all these impartial organizations are all lying about Aruba?

They couldn’t even get a loan of a few million! Check the Central Bank in Aruba as well. Are all of them lying or do they read here and take our word for it? Don’t think so.

And it is the denial that you are exhibiting that has enabled this to go so far.

    62. Mortella on November 15th, 2006 9:09 pm

Did you even read the report, Derek?

Here is a summary for you taken from a post by WorldJournier made today:

For the long term comparison view….

On 6-14-05 the “Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association” (AHATA) documented http://www.ahata.travel/ahata/manageArticle.do?dispatch=view&id=187 that the hotel occupancy for January 2005 was 90.36 %

      ….but now….

“However, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, the average occupancy rate of the hotels for September 2006 shows a contraction of 2.5 percentage points to 66.6 percent”

….that is a long term, 24% loss in hotel occupancy in ARUBA (and also in an ARUBA economy that had been increasing before NATALEE ANN HOLLOWAY vanished), no matter the short term attempts to “spin” the data

….Additionally, in the shorter term, on 11-13-06 ARUBAAN’s news source “Bon Dia” reported just 2 days ago an article entitled, “The Minister of Tourism and Transportation Needs Better Advice,” that details the following 2006 tourism figures compared to same period 2005 tourism figures as documented by the “Caribbean Tourism Organization” report:

      +17.7 % Jamaica (Jan.-Aug.)
      +11.7 % Bermuda (Jan.-Aug.)
      + 9.1 % Dominican Republic (Jan.-Aug.)
      + 6.0 % Puerto Rico (Jan.-Jun.)
      + 4.6 % Curacao (Jan.-Jun.)
      + 4.1 % Barbados (Jan.-Aug.)
      + 4.0 % Bahamas (Jan.-Jun.)
      - 1.4 % St. Maarten (Jan.-Jul.)
      - 10.3 % Aruba (Jan.-Jun.)

Read the rest of the article here http://www.scaredmonkeys.com/fun-images/AHATA111106.jpg

….that is a short term, 28% difference between the #1 destination, JAMAICA, versus ARUBA (for all international tourists, and, during a booming UNITED STATES economy), no matter the short term attempts to “spin” the data

Nice to hear AHATA lies about their tourist figures. One more reason to boycott. Maybe we need to start a thread in the forum about that the way one was done about the lies about low crime rates in Aruba.

I am sure there are SOME Americans there. Would be very odd if there were not considering the close proximity. But there are not as many as last year and more are going to other islands instead of Aruba.

Does “negrito” mean Joran van der Sloot? He was the last one seen with Natalee Holloway and he has lied about it ever since. And yet, Aruba has chosen to allow him total freedom despite his obvious obstruction of justice. Being the last seen with someone missing and lying repeatedly would be pretty incriminating in most places but then Aruba is really special, isn’t it? Sort of a paradise on earth for drugging rapists and safety hazard for others.

And keep those insults coming! Just entrenches the boycott for what I know of Aruba now I have learned from posters from there and not my very brief stays on cruises. I have found the Arubans and Dutch some of the most arrogant with the least reason to be so I have ever encountered in my life and certainly not the kind of people I care to be involved with and certainly not to spend money to do so!

I will never feel the same toward them again because of their rudeness and heartless treatment of Natalee’s family. I has been a real eye opener, that’s for sure.

Carpe, WB… Sorry I couldn’t get back with a more timely response. Going on a family vacation tonite…(not aruba) more like a softball tournament…the 12 yr old is actually pretty darn good…50mph fastball with a nasty drop-curve.
My cremation synopsis was just me generalizing my agreement with 1906 about Natalee in all liklihood of being cremated. Rocks to water-basin, water-basin to rocks, I don’t know, just looking at a 10-day time frame where Natalee’s body is put thru a living hell. By that time, those boys would have been getting desperate and nothing would have been beyond imagination.
I confess to seeing an outline of what appears to be a petite person in the culvert…That is extremely eerie! Beyond that, when you zoom, I get a little antsy about admitting to seeing body parts or dismemberment… That’s not to say it’s not there..I myself believe she was(dismembered). So when I wrote that piece, I was more or less looking at the chronology of the desecration of Natalee’s body…For the purpose of which came first, I don’t think it’s that important when concluding cremation.
As for the “out to sea”, not sold on that aspect yet. I think I’ve heard all the stories. Most notably, the deep water aspect involving “Koen”…Did they ever conduct a deep water search…I heard of many shallow water searches but never the one search that made the most sense. I never heard anywhere on any boards or any news programs of any submersible or submarines used in the search for Natalee. That would have been the most logical and I assure you, neither Holland nor the US would have respected any Aruban’s claim to international waters beyond the 3-mile point….And in a submarine, not at all…so, again, that leaves cremation imo.

      dennisintn

    78. Roy on November 16th, 2006 2:13 pm

Dennis…I agree whole-heartedly, Dompig could have done all those things but iffn Holland was committed to this search for Natalee, particularly as it relates to the deep-water search, they could have put a sub in there to do it. The US recognizes up to 3 miles for territorial waters, Holland, I’m not sure but as a member of NATO, I’m guessing likewise…either way, Holland IMO should have done it anyway, regardless of what Aruba or Dompig thought…No way was Holland ignorant to what was going on in Aruba. I will say this, “the rocks”, “the culvert” the dump site near the shallow grave where people supposedly go to see the sharks, “Natalee wanted to see sharks”, and on and on…Makes a REAL good cover story if in fact she was cremated. And you can say, If Holland knew this, why do a deep-water search. Makes Joran’s statement, “She wanted to go see sharks” just jump out at you! He knew!
