Aruba’s new tourist slogan: Enjoy Aruba by Firelight as long as we don’t burn it down

Coming soon to a travel office near you Aruba’s new marketing strategy, “Come to Aruba … see it by firelight, if you can see it through the smoke.” Or is it just … “burn baby burn?”

Aruba fire

What must tourists think when they see such a sight. To make matters even worse, they meant to do this. As according to Amigoe, “Many Fires burned during the Saint John Celebration”.

Come up with your own new travel slogan, they are going to need one. Could someone please explain why someone would purposely start a fire on an island that has a natural trade wind all the time?

ARUBA – There was this orange glow and penetrating smell of burning over Aruba during the celebration of Saint John.  The fire brigade had her hands full with several fires.  There was this huge fire near the bridge of Santa Cruz.  It attracted this many spectators that it caused a traffic jam.  The police finally closed the road in order to give the fire brigade the chance to get to the location and put the fire out.  A second fire across of Marathon Video in Santa Cruz caused a dangerous situation, because it spread fast and became a danger for the surrounding buildings.  But the fire brigade was there fast and had the situation under control.   Many people burned their trash and sometimes even had to grab the hose in order to keep the fire under control

Amigoe (Aruba): MEP: ‘This is also not good’

Amigoe (Aruba): MEP: ‘This is also not good’

“The MEP hopes that the government will start an inquiry on the integrity of the police.”

MEP only now wants to start an inquiry on the integrity of the police when it comes to paying overtime and mishandling it vs. inquiries in to their less than stellar and unprofessional handling and investigation into the Natalee Holloway case.

Once again its all about … follow the money. Funny how this mishandled over-time issue was never a problem when tourism was functioning fine and the tax revenues were coming in prior to America’s reaction to Aruba and how they handled this case. Everyone just turned a blind eye to what may have been going on. Just like they seem to do with many things on Aruba.

For every action their is a reaction. The inevitable outcome has come from how Aruban police and officials have decided to handle Natalee’s disappearance. Loss of tourism means loss of tourist money spent means loss of tax revenue means loss of monies to pay for government infrastructure.

Natalee Holloway Investigation: What ever Happened to the Belt that Art Wood Found by the Lighthouse?

What ever happened to the belt that Art Wood found by the California Light House?

The belt that looks so strikingly familiar to another belt that we have seen Joran Van der Sloot using in photos.

Aruba Belt

Video can be seen here discussing searches and the finding of the belt.

From last summer: More Searches In Aruba; Light House and the Landfill

From MSNBC … Local Searchers are still searching the landfill and new search and rescue dog teams are searching near the lighthouse. Reports also that a brown belt was found similar to the one seen in Joran photo’s.

What ever became of the belt? Is it still considered evidence? Does the ALE still have it or is it lost? One would like to think that the size of the belt would have been compared to one that Joran Van der Sloot would wear.

Aruba belt 1

At the very least, one would thing that DNA forensics were done on the belt to see if  Joran Van der Sloot or the other suspects ever touched this belt. Please tell us that forensics were done on this piece of evidence. What has become of any of the forensic tests that were sent to The Netherlands? They have all seemed to have slipped into a black hole.
