ORANJESTAD — During a meeting yesterday at Plaza Betico Croes, a group of about a hundred people got together to express their concern about the effect of the Natalee Holloway case on our island, in particular its tourism.

With the songs of Jossy Brokke, the prayers of father Eusebio Petronia and speeches from John Merryweather and Julie Renfro, last night tried to reflect the worry felt here.

MESSAGE

The goal was not to protest against Beth Twitty or the American media who has put Aruba in a negative light as of late. Despite the frustration about the latter, the main goal was to create a unanimity among those present and to empower the commission who organized the event to send a letter to the Dutch government today. This will be done in the course of the day, in so doing to explain the Dutch governors what the people of Aruba feel about this topic.

I hope these protests continue by the Aruban people…if this just keeps mushrooming, then maybe, just maybe, the government will take some positive appropriate action and end this nightmare for the Holloway family. Meanwhile, Americans need to keep the pressure on. I, and my family & friends, would not even consider traveling to Aruba and spending our money there. The polis do not take a missing person seriously. Can you believe that the polis told Dave H. to go to C&C’s and have a beer? This happens all the time. When people go missing, is that it? They’re gone? What a calous and inhumane approach. It sounds like they don’t even need a polis department. Instead, just put a sign on the door… Go down to C&C’s and have a drink! As a matter of fact, the polis will join you.
      What a joke!

When I first read this I actually thought that someone over there was finally stepping up to request help for a better investigation. However, upon further reading I realized they are asking for help to defend them against big bad Beth and some news reporters. People, the only way to get them off your back at this point without an international incident is going to be to jail the corrupt officials in your government and bring in a completely impartial party for a real investigation. How about the UN?

I applaude the Aruban people, they deserve a Justice System they can trust. I am sure according to the remarks of ??? Jacobs, my assumption
is; the Polis don’t care about any missing people, including an Aruban. Susan you are right, just put a sign on the Polis Dept., “CLOSED”.

      Pat,

You can cry all you want but that isn’t going to happen.

A documentary of the stupidity, ignorance, unwillingness, corruption, incompetence, vulgarity, laziness, and stench of who and what represents the Aruban Government needs to be made. Michael Moore where are you???????

If I cry, it is for Natalee and her family, and for the Aruban people who are slaves to a corrupt system run by criminals.

It is so obvious the Aruban Government is covering for the Judge and his family. We need to ban all travel to Aruba until they start doing the work that is required to solve this tragedy. At very least if you have a daughter wife mother or sister urge everyone you know to boycott this outlaw island until justice is done. You could be next!

Well, I’d rather go to Aruba than Alabame.
LAst time I vistited the Aruba, the crime rate was 0. How about Alabama?
How many kids disapear in Alabame each month?
Not all of them are rich white cute girls who like to party, and not many of them get that much attention in the media.
Fovernor of Alabama, if a black guy from Alabame gets muggred in New York, and police doesn’t catch the perp,
are you going to boycott New York as well.
      Politcs, money, eew…

For my friends of the early 90′s – STOP THE INSANITY! Really, enought already about this damn cover-up. Open your eyes. Bring in the UN someone wrote – our President would not even listen to them about invading Iraq, but you think that one missing girl case is big enough for the UN? Sad as it is, it is only one girl. Stop ripping Aruba (which before this media fiaso, was never know for anything but pure beauty, and take away one missing girl, and it still is).
For all you holier than thou crowds out there – do you know how many kids go missing here at home, in America, every week? Why don’t you take some of that energy and direct it at home, instead of at Aruba, which you say is corrupt because BHT says it is. And Juggy, don’t get me started today.
Two weeks later – and the party is still going! White Sox 2005 World Series Champions.!!!
