Natalee Holloway Investigation: Unedited Tapes, Quick Conversation with Dave Holloway
I managed to have a quick conversation with Dave Holloway this afternoon just before he was leaving work. He received the tapes/CD/DVD today and will be listening to it later.
Does Dave have a position on the tape? The present answer is no, Dave had no comment on what is on the tapes as he has yet to hear them. We both discussed the importance of the tape to see what was on them, but it was not the end all be all answer to the investigation. As Dave Holloway said, “its just one piece of evidence.” Dave Holloway will be on the Rita Cosby Show tonight, Live & Direct discussing what he believes he hears on the tapes. Dave Holloway has always been a straight shooter and this should be no different. Win, lose or draw Dave will provide us with an answer.
That being said, I asked Dave whether or not the Dr. Phil tape was the reason why he decided to support the boycott of Aruba. Many in Aruba and on the 24-7 MSM shows have been implying that these tapes were the reason for a boycott, and that it was a boycott based on a lie. Dave Holloway answered, “no”. Dave went on to say, “I am not going to sugar coat it. Its was everything, not just the tape”. Dave basically went into the litany of things that have occurred and the frustration each time that they happened. From the frustration in cooperation of the ALE in examining witnesses to the Prosecutors not stepping down to Dompig not cooperating with TES in helping them get high tech equipment to continue searching.
The family then sent the following letter to the Aruban Attorney General. Then Governor Riley of Alabama was sent a letter from the Department of Foreign Affairs. As Dave Holloway strongly stated, “it was not just the tape that caused him to support a boycott, it was everything”. Dave never wanted a boycott to have to happen, but felt that there was no other choice. The breakdown in communication and direction of the of the investigation might have added to his decision.

Dr Phil Tapes: What is up with these Tapes?
Greta Van Susteren, November 29, 2005
What is up with the Dr. Phil and the unedited Jaime Skeeter’s tapes? Listening to a recording of a tape played over the phone. Could someone please release a digital copy or original to the media and enough of these games. We do live in the 21st century. Trying to listen to this tape and make anything out was en effort in futility. We would like to hear a clear copy and have people make up their minds. How was it that an unedited copy sounded worse and was of worse quality than an edited one?
Release the originals.
Read the following and see what others had to say regarding the controversial tapes.
Tonight, the taped interview with Deepak Kalpoe you haven’t heard before.
Aruban officials just gave us a copy of the unedited tape so you can hear it for yourself.Skeeters: The question I’ll ask you is…If you intentionally killed her?
Deepak: Inaudible
Skeeters: Ok….but that’s what I would ask you…now if you were there when something bad happened to her and it wasn’t intentional, I can prove that it was not intentional. You, your brother and Joran, Joran…
Deepak: Joran
Skeeters: Pardon my pronunciation I’m just a California boy. Uh…if it was an accident … if it was an accident I can tell Paulie, including the father if I have to. The father is protecting the boy like any father would do or you or I would do for our children and then that would be nothing but a mass *inaudible*. And if you guys were partying or gang banging and….and…if you or somebody had given her a date drug.

Barbara Walters, 10 Most Fascinating People (Beth Twitty & Natalee Holloway)
Beth Twitty will be on a Barbara Walter’s show tonight. Airs at 10:00 pm EDT.
10 Most Fascinating People of 2005
Tom Cruise, Condoleezza Rice, Jamie Foxx, Kanye West, Thomas Mesereau, Lance Armstrong, Dakota Fanning, Beth Holloway Twitty, Teri Hatcher
Condi, Beth and Lance, yes. Barbara Walters can have the rest.
I get three of the above names, even though, I am not quite sure if fascinating is the term that I would use for Beth Twitty. Determined, driven and surprising yes, fascinating? How does one compare with the rest of the bunch when life is put into perspective?
Beth Twitty’s accomplishments cannot compare except to Lance Armstrong and Condi Rice as they represent real issues and deal with real life problem that make a difference to many.
Condoleezza Rice, nothing more need be said. She is and should be a role model for many and should be nothing but praised for her accomplishments, both past and present. I do not care whether you agree with her politics, she is a shining example for all.
Lance Armstrong is a shining example of perseverance, hard work, determination and a will for life. The money that he has helped gain for cancer research is beyond words. Lance has touched so many lives.
Beth Twitty should be considered most “influential” not fascinating. That is the wrong word to describe Beth. She has been a pillar of strength fighting for answers to her daughter Natalee’s disappearance when many would have crumbled. Having met Beth personally, she is small in stature but has an inner strength matched by none. I told Beth and her family a while back, that I have never seen a family of a missing person kept in the forefront of the media month after month after month.
Not only did Natalee Holloway become all of our daughters, America adopted the Holloway’s & Twitty’s. Not only has Beth Twitty kept her daughter’s missing persons case alive and pressed an investigation in Aruba, she has also furthered other missing person cases. We are so quick to forget as the case has dragged on that this is a mother searching for her daughter. It is a parents worst nightmare. This isn’t about us, or the story. Its about a missing teenager named Natalee Holloway. People are so quick to say that Natalee’s
case takes up all the attention or that its “Pretty White Girl” syndrome. Those are people who have not paid attention and who have an agenda. If everyone has not noticed there has been more MSM air time for a multitude of missing person cases since Natalee Holloway went missing. This was never the case. The media exposure to many cases has been increased. Of course the Natalee Holloway gets more, it has been going on for nearly six months.
We may never know what happened to Natalee Holloway and to Beth and Natalee’s family we are sad. However, the legacy of Natalee Holloway is that she will bring more exposure and hope to families of missing persons. The media, internet and searchers have been put in the forefront of our minds. Responsible people want to volunteer, help search, donate and put the word out so that people can be found and closure can be given to families. A greater awareness has come from all this.
To be a part of helping people that you have never met for the only reason, because it is the right thing to do. I learned this summer that there is no greater deed than volunteering to help someone in need who has lost someone that is so precious to them. That is what makes this story so captivating to many. Trying to help in whatever way and knowing that it could be you. Wouldn’t you want the help as well?
Beth Twitty and the Natalee Holloway investigation will alter how the media covers these cases. We already see the beginning of it. If it can save one person or provide the necessary exposure and spotlight, it will have been a success.
When one looks at the big picture, pretty fascinating.

Arlene Schipper; “I think it’s about ratings”, with regards to the Dr Phil tape.
Arlene Schipper discusses the Dr. Phil tapes with GretaVan Susteren, ‘On the Record’, November 28, 2005. There are a couple of things that make a lot of sense in this interview and some that ring a bit hollow. I am glad to hear that the police want to make the tapes public. The only question is, stop talking about it and lets hear them.
The police told me specifically on the questions that they have no admission on the tape of rape. So actually the police are willing to release the VHS tape and the CD- Rom that they have obtained to you for you to make up your own mind.
The part that is a little troubling is this blame game that the tape has some how delayed the investigation.
Well, I think it is fair. I think it’s about ratings and it doesn’t help the case. It doesn’t further the investigation sadly enough. It hinders it, because we have lost a lot of time.
Lost time? I thought they had all kinds of leads they had to go back through from the beginning of the investigation that were never got to? I hope that Arlene is not telling us that the investigation would have been on the fast track if it not for this tape? The ALE had nothing else to do?
The rest of the interview with Arlene Schipper.
Tonight new information about the taped interview where Deepak Kalpoe allegedly admitted, or did he to having sex with Natalee Holloway the night she disappeared.
Aruban attorney Arlene Schipper just spoke with the Aruba Deputy Chief of Police.
Arlene joins us live on the phone from Aruba.
Natalee Holloway: Add Another To the Aruba Boycott List; Arkansas Gov. Huckabee says Yes
Aruba the Truth and the Aruban Strategic Communications Task Force once asked the question, Does Anybody Out There Think A Boycott Is A Good Idea?
The answer appears to be yes. This time Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is supporting the Aruban boycott.
Governor Mike Huckabee announced Tuesday he is joining with Alabama Governor Bob Riley in requesting Arkansans consider avoiding travel to the Caribbean island of Aruba on behalf of the family of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.
“I have received a letter from Governor Riley explaining the situation and requesting that I join him in urging this boycott, and I agreed,” said Huckabee. “Out of respect for the Holloway family, including several members who live here in Arkansas, and out of concern for the safety of our citizens, I believe the prudent course of action is to avoid travel to Aruba for the time being.”

Natalee Holloway Editorial; It’s not about the Politics, It’s about the Pressure
Aruban officials and the Aruban Strategic Task Force have been critical of the boycott called for by Alabama Governor Bob Riley. The Task Force has even gone so far as to say, Does Anybody Out There Think A Boycott Is A Good Idea? Although there have been several editorials stating that the boycott will have no effect which should be comforting to Aruba. However, it hardly seems the case by the reaction the boycott has received in Aruba. There are those that believe that a boycott won’t solve anything. There are some who feel differently. Some are of the opinion it is an individuals choice whether to go there or not.
The Decatur Daily initially had an editorial entitled ‘Boycotting Aruba won’t solve the Holloway case’ that was touted by Aruba the Truth for it’s anti-boycott stance.
From what we can see, Aruban officials have botched their investigation. Tragically, it appears unlikely that Natalee Holloway will ever be found. If a boycott would miraculously change that, we’d support it. But it won’t, and it certainly won’t promote cooperation between Americans and Arubans in continuing to pursue the case.
Every tourist is free, of course, to stay away from Aruba for this or any other reason. But the boycott strikes us as an empty and perhaps harmful gesture.
Suddenly the same newspaper two weeks later seemingly has a different take in their editorial pages, Keep pressure on Aruba to solve Holloway case. It has been stated by Aruban officials and The Strategic Task Force that Governor Bob Riley called for the boycott for political reasons. It is an interesting concept that it is OK for Aruba and a Strategic Task Force set up to protect Aruba and its tourism from what they claim are misrepresentations and falsehoods. However, it is not OK for the Governor of a State to protect his constituents in the same manner. To borrow a phrase, wouldn’t this be fair and balanced? The Editorial brings out some interesting points.
Governors of the other 49 states may not be as familiar with Natalee Holloway’s disappearance as Bob Riley, but they should not conclude he’s indulging in self-serving politics as he calls for a tourist boycott of Aruba.
Politics are hardly the case. He’s responding to and identifying with a parent’s cry for help.
At this point, asking American tourists to find another vacation spot in the southern Caribbean is about the only pressure the governor can bring against Aruban authorities.
Barring any official U.S. State Department action, the governor’s appeal to his peers will at least heighten public awareness that Aruba isn’t a Garden of Eden tucked away in the sun drenched Caribbean. (Full editorial)
Maybe this is what Aruban tourism officials do fear. An editorial opinion that went from there was no point to a boycott to what choice was there? In any event it would just seem so simple to alleviate the issue. Believe it or not this is still about a missing teenager, Natalee Holloway. Remember her?
It’s not about a boycott or a tape or tourism. It’s about a missing person and a life. One that by all accounts is gone. If one does their job to the utmost and the investigation is handled in a much more serious manner with less mistakes (mistakes that even Aruban officials have admit occurred); win, lose or draw it all goes away and everyone goes back to their lives. That does not mean window dressing, it means a real investigation.
Unfortunately, this case has turned into nothing more by many than a hate-fest. It is sad that there is almost a joyful glee by some that a tape may or may not have been manipulated. There is more energy put forth to promote that idea than there has been to honestly discuss why the case has deteriorated to at present. What happened to the questioning of the suspects that was said would occur over a month ago? Where does the case stand at this point? One would think that Natalee Holloway’s family has a right to know.
The Holloway’s and Twitty’s belong to a small fraternity of people that no one wants to be a member of. Many who have no emotional stake in this case have said that the family should just give up and walk away. Who is their right mind would honesty do such a thing if it was their child? What choice would you have as a parent but to “Keep pressure on Aruba to solve Holloway case“?
Finally After All This Time, Natalee Holloway on the FBI Missing Persons List
After nearly 6 months, Natalee Holloway is on The FBI Missing Person’s List.
I guess we are no longer going to be able to ask this question, Why is Natalee not on FBI’s Missing Persons List? Check out the answer we originally got when the question was asked.

DISAPPEARANCE OF NATALEE ANN HOLLOWAY

The FBI is seeking information regarding Natalee Ann Holloway who disappeared on May 30, 2005, while she was in Aruba on a senior class trip. Holloway traveled with Mountain Brook, Alabama High School seniors and chaperones to Aruba on May 26, 2005. Reportedly, on the evening of May 29, 2005, Holloway and a large group of students went to Carlos ‘N Charlie’s Nightclub in Oranjestad, Aruba. When Carlos ‘N Charlie’s was closing around 1:00 a.m., some of the group headed back to the Holiday Inn where they were staying, and others in the group gathered at various area bars. Holloway was last seen around 1:30 a.m. leaving the area in a silver Honda with three young males, Joran van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe. Holloway did not return to her hotel room, and her personal belongings remained in her room. On the morning of May 30, 2005, when the Mountain Brook group was scheduled to meet in the lobby of the hotel in preparation for their departure from Aruba, Holloway never joined them. The Mountain Brook group returned to the United States, however Holloway’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Make what you want of the developments. Seems rather peculiar that after nearly six months this would occur. Is there a change in how the FBI will handle this disappearance? Only time will tell.

Beth Twitty’s Real Reaction to the Dr. Phil Tapes
Over at Aruba the Truth they are stating the following as being Beth Twitty’s reaction to the announcement of the Dr. Phil tapes:
The Reaction Of Beth Twitty
It was clear that the family had the same dismay as investigators when the tape review was completed.
Beth admitted that it was possible, without her knowledge, that the tape was altered or improperly edited.
I am not quite sure where Aruba the Truth is getting this comment from as they did not bother to source or link to any transcript where it was said. Details, details.
These were the comments by Beth Twitty from FOX, 11-23-05, Geraldo, At Large w/Geraldo Rivera — Wednesday
