Aruban Judge Delays Ruling in Van der Sloot Detention
According to sources, the Judge in Aruba did not give a ruling in today’s extension hearing for Joran Van der Sloot. He has until the deadline of September 4, Jorans release date, to do so.
Today Prosecutors requested a 30 day extension in the detainment of Joran Van der Sloot. Joran’s attorney, Antonio Carlo, said that Prosecutors presented what was characterized as two new allegations against his client. As the AP reported,
Carlo said prosecutors introduced two allegations of a “sexual nature” against van der Sloot. He declined to provide details on the allegations, but insisted they were not new.
Carlo said prosecutors introduced two allegations of a “sexual nature” against van der Sloot. He declined to provide details on the allegations, but insisted they were not new.
“We don’t consider them new circumstances,” he said. “They have been in the file for about two months.”
Prosecutors could not be reached for comment.
However, we understand from sources that one of the accusations involved the Natalee Holloway case while the other one pertained to an unrelated sexual matter. Joran’s attorney stated that both of these issues were already included in the Prosecutions original accusations.

Everyone Must Leave New Orleans
The governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco, says “everyone needs to leave New Orleans due to flooding from Hurricane Katrina“. The refugees that were held up in the Lousiana Super Dome are now be relocated to the Houston AstroDome. The
aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is beyond anyone’s imagination. It is just impossible to imagine that an entire city let alone Gulf Coast area has to be relocated.
The governor of Louisiana says everyone needs to leave New Orleans due to flooding from Hurricane Katrina. “We’ve sent buses in. We will be either loading them by boat, helicopter, anything that is necessary,” Gov. Kathleen Blanco said. Army engineers trying to plug New Orleans’ breached levees struggled to move giant sandbags and concrete barriers into place, and the governor said Wednesday the situation was growing more desperate and there was no choice but to abandon the flooded city.

Georgia Gas Stations Are Supposed to Close at 4 PM (Corrected)
Sources close to me they are going to close all Gas Stations in the state of Georgia at 4 PM today.
The gas supply has not been pumped from the gulf coast for the last 2 days, and Atlanta only has a 10 day supply at its very best. Drudge had this report, and the AJC also did an article earlier today, but it is inaccessible right now.
Governor Perdue is due to make an announcement shortly.
UPDATE: It looks like this was not correct, but the governors office is calling for people not to top off their tanks.
Governor Perdue also asked drivers not to “top off” their gas tanks, and avoid purchasing gasoline until their gasoline tanks are low. He encouraged Georgia business owners to conserve gasoline by taking advantage of telework and flexible work schedule options for employees.
Word is that Memphis is experiencing shortages.
Personal Experience. Went out at lunch in Georgia, gas was $2.70 a gallon. Now it is $3.09 a gallon. New Hampshire is reporting $3.30 a gallon.
Van Der Sloot has Hearing, no Results yet
ORANJESTAD, Aruba — A Dutch suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway was summoned to court today for a hearing on whether to prolong his detention or release him.
Authorities led Joran van der Sloot, 18, through a back door of the courthouse for the closed hearing. He is scheduled to be held until Sept. 4, but prosecutors say they have filed a motion to detain him another 30 days.
In order to extend van der Sloot’s detention, prosecutors must offer additional evidence against the teen. It was unclear when the judge would rule.
Van der Sloot was arrested June 9 along with two friends, Surinamese nationals Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21, on suspicion of involvement in Holloway’s disappearance.
We will keep abreast of the situation for you.
Andy Lathrop Update
Andy Lathrop, the Wisconsin 20 year old , has been missing in Japan for two weeks now. The family is thinking that there may have been an abduction in the case, as opposed to drowning which was initially thought.
They have set up a website, www.findandy.org, and are planning a fund raiser to cover family expenses for their trip to Japan.
MENASHA — Two special police detectives have been assigned to the search in Hakodate, Japan, for Andy Lathrop, the missing Menasha intern who vanished two weeks ago.
For family members who returned home Sunday after a week of searching for the 20-year-old Menasha man, news of the extra manpower was encouraging.
“It’s good to hear the news this morning that they’re not giving up,” said Andy’s father, Steven Lathrop, an electrician at a Menasha paper mill.
Thoughts that Andy fell victim to a climbing accident or possibly drowned have been lessened by the fact that his body has not washed ashore or been found in any of the extensive searches of the water and rocky beach area where he was last seen and the adjacent mountainous area.
Now, authorities may be exploring other options, including possible abduction.
“I think they’re looking now at a different area, that maybe he was taken,” said his mother Lesley Lathrop, an intensive care nurse in Appleton. “I just don’t feel that he’s still on that island; otherwise he’d be seen.”
Lathrop, who was supposed to return to the U.S. five days after he went missing Aug. 15, had finished his work as an intern with Labo International Exchange Foundation when he disappeared while traveling.
“Hang him, that’s it.” “Then we’re done. But this will not give Natalee back”
“Hang him, that’s it.” “Then we’re done. But this will not give Natalee back”. Yes, those were the words uttered by Anita Van der Sloot in an interview with CBS, The Early Show.
Today Joran Van der Sloot will learn whether he will remain in custody for another 30 days or be sent home in the case of missing teen, Natalee Holloway. Natalee’s parents have always felt that Joran Van der Sloot had something to do with their daughter’s disappearance while Joran’s parents claim his innocence.
Her parents are convinced he had something to do with her disappearance, and want him held.
But his parents say they’re counting the days until they can take him home.
“We believe in his innocence, not only because it is not proven that he is guilty, but because he is innocent,” says Joran’s father, Paul van der Sloot, a one-time judge in training.
Post Hurricane Katrina; God Help Them All
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina comes the the rescuing, the searching and the visions of just some of the most horrible sights I have seen since September 11, 2001. God help them all. From the AP, Crews Pass Dead to Reach Storm Survivors
New Orleans: Rescuers along the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast pushed aside the dead to reach the living Tuesday in a race against time and rising waters, while New Orleans sank deeper into crisis and Louisiana’s governor ordered storm refugees out of this drowning city. Two levees broke and sent water coursing into the streets of the Big Easy a full day after New Orleans appeared to have escaped widespread destruction from Hurricane Katrina. An estimated 80 percent of the below-sea-level city was under water, up to 20 feet deep in places, with miles and miles of homes swamped.
NYT: Rescuers Search for Survivors as Higher Death Tolls Are Feared
NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 30 - The waters of swollen Lake Pontchartrain poured into this sunken city today through a gaping hole in a storm-damaged levee, as emergency workers labored to stanch the flow and used boats and helicopters to rescue hundreds of people stranded on rooftops.
