Breaking news: Aruban PM and Minister of Justice to Aruban LE: “Hand It Over”

According to breaking news passed on local radio station Top 95.1 a few minutes ago, Aruban Prime Minister Nel Oduber and Minister of Justice Rudy Croes ordered all materials pertaining to the Natalee Holloway investigation to be given to the FBI.

UPDATE: As confirmed by sources at Aruba Today, the following statement has been issued by the Aruban Government:

The Government of Aruba would like to confirm by legal means necessary to guarantee the involvement of the FBI in regards to the investigation about the disappearance of Ms. Natalee Holloway. This involvement is to be all levels, which means that the FBI must have complete access to the dossier, including transcripts, audio tapes or video registration of interrogations, plus all materials that are connected to this case, in as much as our judicial system allows.

In case the current phase of investigation limits mentioned involvement, than the instruction is to use all legal means necessary to allow and even guarantee complete access to the FBI. If external expertise in reference to above is required, you are hereby authorized and instructed to do so.

Lastly, it is imperative that there should not be any doubt at all that Aruban authorities guarantee full cooperation in this case with the American authorities, as has been the case since the beginning, within the boundaries of our judicial system. (Red)

Why does the phrase in this “order” ring hollow?

“…This involvement is to be all levels, which means that the FBI must have complete access to the dossier, including transcripts, audio tapes or video registration of interrogations, plus all materials that are connected to this case, in as much as our judicial system allows.”

It’s the last sentence, and the condition precedent: “in as much as our judicial system allows.”

With Aruba and its Holland overseers, I can’t imagine that this goes anywhere, but the status quo.

Too little too late I’m afraid. They should have cooperated from the beginning. We will never get back those days that the 3 walked free. Unless the FBI has a time machine this is just an attempt to save face.

We should caution negative comments about the authorities in Aruba and Holland. Many viewers read these posts and make judgments about the essence our American culture. Currently, we have young men and women fighting overseas in order to enable the spread of democracy. It would be a pity if their efforts and lives were negated by what people read in this posts.

dunno. think they prolly think we’re a bunch of excitable blowhards already, with scant chance for redemption. and if’n they can’t distinguish ‘tween good ol’ American impatience, and a fellow in fatigues, then they’re prolly just as impestuous and we’d prolly get along swell. still and all, ’tis, by democratic eye, a shade peculiar, the judicial ways over there.

Thank you for that great insight…my nephew leaves next month for Iraq…he is my hero!

I believe the DNA has come back from the FBI lab regarding the duct tape and hair…a call went overseas from Washington, and I believe that the Dutch authorities want to resolve this ASAP…they know they are over their heads with this and when the truth comes out, it will not look good for the investigators in Aruba. They cannot match the FBI skill and depth, and unfortunately for America, we have so much of this type of crime in our country, our law officials are much more experienced at handling such a case. I am praying for a resolution for Natalee’s sake, and her dear parents who have endured such heartache all these weeks.

GO FBI GO!! GO GET NATALEE AND BRING HER HOME. I STILL PRAY FOR ALL INVOLVED THAT NATALEE IS ALIVE. HAVE FAITH AND BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. I FEEL THE ONLY WAY SHE IS ALIVE NOW IS THAT THEY MOVED HER TAPED HER MOUTH SHUT SO SHE COULDN’T SCREAM AND TOOK HER BY BOAT BUT JUST RECENTLY TO SOME OTHER ISLAND. HANG IN THERE NATALEE.

“as much as our judicial system allows”

“within the boundaries of our judicial system”

Those are things that are open to interpretation and get settled countries’ supreme judicial venues.

My view is that the Aruban PM purposely left an escape hatch large enough sail an aircraft carrier through.
