MSNBC Tonight: Two Exclusive Interviews on Scarborough Country

Tonight on Scarborough Country there will be two “exclusive interviews”. The first will be MARTIN SAVIDGE, NBC CORRESPONDENT at 10.00pm continuing his interviewing Caren Janssen the newly appointed spokes person and lead prosecutor from Aruba.

See the video of Martin Savidge with Caren Janssen courtesy of Blogs For Natalee

The second will be Joe Scarborough at 10:15 pm doing an interview with Marcia Twitty regarding the newly started, LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN FOR NATALEE HOLLOWAY, “NOTES FOR NATALEE”.

See the video of Marcia Twitty discussing the letter writing campaign courtesy of Blogs fro Natalee.

This is a letter writing campaign started by family friend Sunny Tillman in hopes of creating and maintaining pressure for authorities to do everything possible to find Natalee Holloway. Everything starts at the grass roots and she is asking that we all take a little time out of our day and make a difference.

The letter from Sunny requests the following:

Please send a hand written note to the Ambassador at the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Washington, DC asking for the continued support from Holland in the search for Natalee Holloway. This campaign is intended to reflect the class, and dignity displayed by Natalee’s mother Beth over the past few weeks, and we ask that the content s of your letters do this as well. The goal of this campaign is to illustrate in numbers of mailed letters the number of American who care about Natalee and her family. We would ask out Scared Monkey readers to take a moment out of their day.

Suggested text …

Dear Mr. Ambassador

America wants to encourage you to do all you can to help find Natalee Holloway by supporting the use of state of the art technology in the investigation, and continuing to lend other technical support to the effort. We all thank you very much for your help and for your concern.

Address:
Mr. Boudewijn Johannes Van Eenennaam
Dutch Ambassador to the United States

Family of Natalee Holloway starts letter writing campaign

By JAY REEVES AP:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Trying to keep up the pressure to find an Alabama teenager missing in Aruba, relatives of Natalee Holloway began a letter-writing campaign Wednesday seeking more Dutch assistance in the search. Family friend Sunny Tillman said Holloway’s relatives are “very appreciative” of the aid already provided by the government of Holland and hope the country will continue assisting in Aruba, a Dutch protectorate. Tillman and others are distributing e-mails asking people to pen short notes and mail them to the Dutch ambassador in Washington. The suggested text reads: “America wants to encourage you to do all you can to help find Natalee Holloway by supporting the use of state of the art technology in the investigation, and continuing to lend other technical support to the effort. We all thank you very much for your help and your concern.” Tillman said supporters hoped the campaign would spread nationally. “We’re asking people to show they care by taking a minute and writing a note,” she said. Dozens of Dutch Marines have assisted in searches for Holloway, and a government spokesman said the troops were prepared to provide additional assistance.

Holloway, from the Birmingham suburb of Mountain Brook, has been missing since May 30, when she failed to show up for the flight home to Alabama after a graduation trip to Aruba. A Dutch teenager and two Surinamese brothers are being held in Holloway’s disappearance, but numerous searches of the small, Caribbean island have failed to turn up clues on her whereabouts. Holloway, 18, is an honors student scheduled to attend the University of Alabama this fall.

Beth Holloway Twitty on Aruban Radio, Magic 96.5 FM

Tonight Beth Holloway went on local Aruban radio, 96.5, to discuss the situation of her missing daughter Natalee. Beth has been on many of the US International TV shows but I believe this may be her first local Aruban interview. The highlights of the Beth Holloway Twitty interview are as follows:

The audio to the beginning of the interview can be heard hear courtesy of Blogs for Natalee

About 2003 MBH started coming here with 30 students. They had a good time and wanted to return and returned in 2004 in 70 students.

Natalee Holloway has been on trips alone. In the Caribbean with other friends and she has traveled to Austria and Germany, she has a younger brother Matt, 16.

They are simulcasting 2 radio stations from Curacao and one from Bonnair

First invitation to come to a radio station, all others were over the phone. Reporter states that Beth has been on international media, but not yet local media. Then welcomes her for coming on 96.5.

One of the chaperone’s called Beth on 12pm on 5/30 to say that NH wasn’t in the lobby at the hotel.

Beth immediately knew that Natalee was missing and she called the FBI that her daughter had been kidnapped. Knew within seconds we had a serious problem. Knew she had been kidnapped.

Beth absolutely believes that she has been kidnapped. Beth says that this is not a missing person. She called 911 saying that her daughter had been kidnapped.

Natalee Holloway did not have contact with with Beth during her trip.

Chaperone’s have her trust. Some were family friends and one chaperon stayed behind.

There were three Arubans who met Beth at airport and were “incredible, fantastic” with helping Beth to “navigate Aruba”.

The reporter asked, “How are the Aruban authorities been handling the case?”Beth says that as any mother or father nothing can be fast enough. This is not to penalize to local authority or government.

Frustration and desperation can only increase.

Beth says that Natalee didn’t have any history of anything of the ordinary.

Beth has a huge support system in family. Some have flown 5 times already.

Beth does not know why the media interest in this.

Reporter asks as if she had suspicions that this may have happened (kidnapping).Beth answered that she knew at that moment that Natalee was “ripped from her life”.

Vinda says that the family thinks that Natalee disappeared involuntarily and didn’t go to the place she was supposed to go.

Beth does have daily contact with FBI and and local police. Some meetings are good, some are bad. Information sometimes goes through Vinda and Peter.

Equusearch is not being backed by Beth. Beth is not involved and has faith in the authorities. Beth has been trying to understand the Dutch system and Vinda has helped her with this.

Beth on U.S. media: Everyone has their hearts in this and she doesn’t know why.

She doesn’t want to comment on her thoughts on the van der Sloot’s family. All parents have the role of wanting the best for their children, to protect their children.

Beth stated that she wants justice for Natalee and wants to see this through.

Beth, “I WANT TO TAKE HER HOME”

She will absolutely not leave Aruba.

Beth believes that she is on the island.

Reporter asks do you ever wonder why if your daughter has been kidnapped that nothing has been asked for?
Beth doesn’t know why there isn’t a ransom.

Reporter asks, Beth would love to know about any prayer vigils in the evening.
Mirna of ATA to have a prayer chain from the Wyndham to the Holiday Inn tomorrow at 2:45 to 3:00pm.

Beth’s expectation: I demand answers, expect answers and we will have them.

(On a personal note … How this woman is able to keep up the strength is amazing)

*********
Prior to Beth’s interview an Aruban lawyer, Vinda de Souza, was discussing some of the present situation in Papiamentu. A summary of what was basically said by the Aruban attorney:

Lawyer said that the family of Natalee Holloway tries to talk bad about the authorities here, but that the lawyer will stop them and explain them.

Lawyer has explained system until that she is tired of it, but will keep on explaining it.

Lawyer says that she’s telling U.S. media that an unknown legal system to them is not necessarily a bad system. She says that there are a few reporters that are finally getting things right, but not all. Those who do not correct themselves probably do it out of sensationalism.

She says that the family submitted a brief to be considered a ‘wronged’ party in the investigation.

Lets work together to Find Natalee

Today we had two of our favorite bloggers comment on our coverage of the Natalee Holloway disappearance. Michelle Malkin take a swing at those of us who are covering the Natalee Holloway disappearance, while Rusty who gives us a nudge in a tongue and cheek way. I have a few observations that are very relevant to why we turned our world upside down.

First, a blog is a very personal expression of what we believe in. I never have said to Michelle Malkin, please stop writing about any topic she is covering. That would be rude. So I am thinking that Michelle’s sniping at us it fairly rude also. We are not doing this for our own edification. We are doing this for the Holloway and Twitty families, and the people of Aruba

Since our purposes for covering Natalee’s disappearance have been called into question, maybe answering these questions may help.

Why  did we post on it? Red lived down in Aruba and knows the situation.

Why did we continue? We found that we were helping a family in need. We were able to get information through the blog swarm that helped add to the story.

Did we ever dream we would go wall to wall with the story? Never, but once we got into it, and had the opportunity to participate in helping the family, get them information that otherwise never would have been uncovered. we sure as hell would not stop.

Do we like the traffic? Yes, but we would also be doing it if only 1000 people we reading us. We have a forum that has over 1000 members, who we are providing leadership to. We also are talking to other TV networks and people on the ground in Aruba and Birmingham sending new information that we are receiving.

So is this just an ego play? No, we had to make some tough decisions to keep putting the pressure on as we have. And as we pray that Natalee is found, we would be remiss to pull out now to cover other stories.

So when someone you respect essentially calls you out, and says you are doing this for ratings, it causes hurt and disappointed. Michelle, if this story hit you as hard as immigration has, would you blog it? That is how we feel about it. So please do not knock us, the blogosphere is a very large place. Many stories are covered top to bottom, however, we have found something that allows us to make a difference right now.

When we get emails from family and friends of Natalee thanking us for our efforts and to be strong, we take heart in that.

When we have people in Aruba thanking us for telling the truth about their island, and being fair about it, we take heart in that.

When we work hand in hand with other bloggers, (Riehl World View, The Political Teen, HyScience, and The Dark Side), to make sure that we are as accurate as possible and as empathetic to all parties as possible, we take heart in that.

Then new bloggers such Two Babes and a Brain who have come to our defense, because she could be anyones daughter.

So it is not about the Missing Pretty Girl Syndrome or Ratings in TTLB.

It is about doing the right thing. Part of me would love to get 8 hours sleep at night, but if I feel that Red and I are making a difference, we will live on 3 hours without complaint.

And to the many people that are helping Red and I out on this site, such as Admins RB, Absolut, and Cat. and our posters and people who are helping us out by commenting and calling and writing:

You have our thanks. Our very sincere thanks.

Tom and Red

Scared Monkeys Update: We would like to personally thank Michelle Malkin for taking the time to personally email both Tom and I discussing the issue. This is something she did not have to do and we thank her for doing so.

(From Michelle Malkin)

Update IV: I think my post has been completely misconstrued. The gentlemen at Scared Monkeys interpret my comments as “sniping” when all I was doing was politely observing that, despite my own misgivings, their work is finding a large audience. One of the Scared Monkeys’ commenters requests that someone “bitch slap” me for my post.

Crikey.

Dan Riehl has a much more thoughtful response here. As I’ve let all these gentlemen know, I wish them continued success with their blogs and will continue to read them with interest.

As Michelle stated in her email to us, “I wish you continued success and will continue to read your good work!
Very best,
Michelle

We would say the same to Michelle and let it be water under the bridge and let us both get on to blogging. Thank you Michelle for the kind words.

Natalee Holloway; June 29 Morning Update

Looks like there may be some changes at the spokes person level in Aruba. According to Aruban sources,

“Seems that Mariaine Croes has been replaced by Karen Jansen (lead prosecutor) as spokesperson on the Natalee Holloway case. It doesn’t say why. This is according to Diario, but it seems that a memo has been issued out by the JD, so it seems more credible than other Diario stories.”

********************
Also, Natalee’s mom and the family are growing increasing frustrated with the investigation. The release of Paul Van der Sloot on Sunday by Aruban authorities was said to be devastating on Natalee’s mom.

The mother of an Alabama honors student missing in Aruba for a month said Tuesday she is devastated by the release of a Dutch suspects father and convinced the high-ranking judicial official is hiding information.

“I know in my heart he has some answers,” Beth Holloway Twitty told The Associated Press in an interview.

She said her suspicions were based on his behavior when she went to his house looking for those answers last week, and Paul van der Sloot, who’s training to be a judge on the Dutch Caribbean island, could not stop perspiring.

“I’ve never sat across from an individual in a well-ventilated room who was sweating so profusely. His wife had to use napkins to wipe his forehead, and the sweat drops falling on the table” as they sat under a fan.

The families of Natalee Holloway have grown increasing frustrated by the slow pace and the investigation and the lack of information that is being given to them. This comes as a bit of a surprise because there had been interviews that claimed the Holloway’s & Twitty’s were being informed along the way. After nearly one month and the Aruban authorities being no closer to solving this mystery than they were day one; the pressure and frustration must be beyond belief for Natalee’s family.

Family members of a missing Mountain Brook teen say they’re fed up with the slow pace of the investigation into her disappearance in Aruba.

Natalee Holloway, 18, disappeared May 30 on a graduation trip to the Caribbean island. Authorities have been tight-lipped about the investigation, saying only that they’re pursuing all angles.

But Holloway’s relatives say they’ve had to push the investigation along, even threatening to go to the media if certain arrests weren’t made.

“I’m really afraid that the officials are beginning to feel that this is a blemish on the island and that they’re trying to make it go away rather than resolving it,” Holloway’s uncle, Paul Reynolds, said Tuesday. “I think it’s a mistake.”

Beth Twitty, Holloway’s mother, also said she’s tired of pushing for information. “I think everybody just wants an answer, and it’s so frustrating not getting it.”

Also from Fox News, Holloway’s Mom: Dutch Dad Hiding Something

The mother of an Alabama honors student missing in Aruba for a month said Tuesday she is devastated by the release of a Dutch suspects father and convinced the high-ranking judicial official is hiding information.

“I know in my heart he has some answers,” Beth Holloway Twitty told The Associated Press in an interview.

She said her suspicions were based on his behavior when she went to his house looking for those answers last week, and Paul van der Sloot, who’s training to be a judge on the Dutch Caribbean island, could not stop perspiring.

From Scarborough Country, transcripts from June 27, discussing the Natalee Holloway story with Joe Scarborough, Martin Savidge, Arlene Ellis-Schipper (Aruban Attorney) and Linda Allison:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
BETH HOLLOWAY TWITTY, MOTHER OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: At this point, you would think that you’re well into it and you’re progressing right through it and you’ve almost got your answers. And, after this weekend, I don’t think it’s any surprise that, you know, we were devastated.

That was such a huge setback, that I felt as if I was taken back to May 31 at 2:00 a.m. in the morning.

SAVIDGE: So, that’s the feeling from the family members. And it really sums up a lot of feeling on the island.

But the prosecutor’s office says don’t think it’s a major setback. They are pushing forward with their case, and, if need be, they could rearrest these suspects. And they are considered suspects, even though they have been set free—Joe.

SCARBOROUGH: Martin, is there any evidence at all that Joran or the other two boys are cracking? We’d heard before that the father could possibly be released just to pressure the son to start talking—or could be arrested just to make the son start talking.

Any evidence at all that that may be happening?

SAVIDGE: No. In fact, perhaps that’s why the father was let go. I mean, if that was the tactic, bring in the father, add pressure to the son, it did not appear to impact the son’s testimony, at least from what we’ve heard from the investigation.

So, you let the father go and pursue other means. But there’s been no major breakthrough that we’ve heard of coming from these interrogations. Now, keep in mind, the process here is very closed-mouth when it comes to how the prosecutor’s office and the investigation moves forward. They are not ones to daily update the media as to how they’re doing—Joe.

LINDA ALLISON, AUNT OF NATALEE HOLLOWAY: Well, obviously, we do feel that it was a major setback to hear the news that Paul Van Der Sloot had been released.

You know, you heard that testimony—or you heard the explanation from the guest that you just previously had on. And it’s frustrating. You have this person trying to explain it. Can you understand that? It’s just very difficult.

SCARBOROUGH: Linda, you know, we keep hearing Beth and others in the family, hearing you come on, talk on these shows. And, obviously, you all seem very strong in front of the camera. How’s the family doing, though, when the lights turn off and you all are just talking among yourselves?

ALLISON: Yes.

Well, I do have to say, we put our game face on when we’re out searching. And we do have our emotional moments when we’re behind closed doors.

Friend of Monkey Talks to Mickey John

Before you watch Greta … see what Friend of Monkey has to say about her conversation with Mickey John.

I just got off phone with Mickey John.
Greta was at his house today and he may be on tonight.
I asked him if Deepak told him, he said “I never should have left her with Joran”
HE SAID NO, NEVER.
Deepak did say to him that he and Saish dropped NH and Joran off at the Marriot after he lighthouse. Then Deepak said he and Satish went home.
The whole thing he said about Holiday Inn was a lie that the VDS “family”
made up and asked Deepak and Satish to agree to. As far as what Deepak meant by the VDS “family” he doesn’t know if it includes “Tom Dick or Harry” to quote Mickey John. Also Mickey did believe that Deepak was telling truth. Deepak was sorry to have supported the family lie as it landed him in jail.
I may miss show… Thanks
