Suicide Watch for Joran?

This is unconfirmed, but we received word that Joran is on a Suicide Watch after an unsuccessful attempted suicide last night.

This should not be taken as an admission of guilt, but he has been moved to the main prison, a much tougher environment than the police jail.

Maybe this will push Aruban authorities to move a little FASTER with this case!!!!

    3. Don on June 20th, 2005 7:03 pm

Yeah his first night in jail, im sure he got sodomized and thats what led to the attempted suicide. What goes around comes around.

    4. MC on June 20th, 2005 7:15 pm

He is on the path that we, has human beings, are responsible for paving. The degradation of morality in the world is ever increasing.

    5. JoeVols on June 20th, 2005 7:16 pm

Poor Joran. Probably has to use aloe coated toilet paper today.. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy…..

    6. Justin T on June 20th, 2005 7:17 pm

It may not be an admission of guilt but sure is a strong indicator! If he is really innocent of any wrong doing then I find it difficult to believe that he would feel so desperate. I for one sure as hell hope he doesn’t kill himself…well at least until we get to the truth about what they did with Natalee.

    7. MC on June 20th, 2005 7:21 pm

      I meant “as human beings”.
Just a note: before Joran’s Tickle website went off line,
I noticed that under the catagory of Religion, he entered……….”none, soory” (I think I have the spelling correct).
This is extremely sad. I will never be the same.

    8. mora68 on June 20th, 2005 7:32 pm

well, i certainly dont want to see anyone harm themselves…at least not until we get some answers…still, we shouldn’t wish anyone dead…even if he has committed some horrific crime…if he would just tell the truth…wishing harm on him brings us down to his level…don’t do any favors for Joran…don’t give him our energy…we should focus our positive energies towards Natalee and her family…and to the proper authorities involved in this case…I know it sounds corny…but, what is prayer, but energy that we are creating, let’s give it to the right people…if Joran is guilty, “God” or whomever, whatever, you believe in, knows it…they will take care of it..let’s focus on finding Natalee. In the name of the light, God Bless Natalee and her family…

Carlito has been dp’d by Joe and MC

    10. Julie on June 20th, 2005 7:36 pm

If this gets confirmed which it says uncomfirmed, then yes this may be an admission of guilt, Yes he may be feeling desperate like he has no way out The Truth shall prevail eventually sooner rather than later would be good, If he indeed did harm Natalee may God have mercy on his soul and whoever else was involved, and as far as him saying he has no religion he better find God and soon! This is a extremely sad situation for all involved and I pray for a good outcome and that Natalee comes home!

    20. Linda on June 20th, 2005 8:03 pm

Well, don’t even begin to think this indicates remorse. Sociopaths don’t do remorse. If he’s sorry about anything it’s that he got caught. Maybe he’d rather be dead than face the consequences of his slimy actions. More likely he probably may feel disturbed by the grief and disgrace he’s brought on his own family. Apparently, his mom was allowed to visit with him while the cops interviewed papa. Maybe she wasn’t real happy with the little snot and told him so.

I sure don’t want to hear he checked out before they get to the bottom of this. I hope he’s around long enough to get some payback.

Maybe his goose is cooked either way . . . if he’s involved with some ring of heavy thugs, he probably won’t last too long on the outside either, if he gives up names.

Anyway, he’s had lots of practice putting his belt around young women’s necks, so this isn’t a big surprise.

    21. Rivie on June 20th, 2005 8:08 pm

This attempted suicide, just another ploy to be kept in a separate cell block-medical wing. He is using all the loophole

    26. Neil on June 20th, 2005 8:34 pm

The change in story from the original is very strong evidence that he is involved. I am guessing that he is the principal and the others are supporting actors.

I do not think Joran is a sociopath. I think he is an immature teen. Teens brains are not fully developed (immature) and not all teens at 18 have full control yet. Bad judgement, shortsighted, not fully comprehend the consequences of actions, poor impulse control.

Now that it is becomming clearer to him that he cannot avoid the consequences of his actions thru deception, I think that he is desperate, hence the immature attempt to escape thru suicide. The full confession cannot be far behind.

    27. Rabaul on June 20th, 2005 8:36 pm

Done deal! No need to aplogize….but likewise. I was the smart ass one in this game. However, I know it feels good to insult a young kid who’s in prison who probably has a lot of explaining to do regarding the disappearance. But we just don’t know at this point. Sliming Joran doen’t help to find Natalee, even though I’m compelled to want to give Joran some ass-kicking myself

    28. Martin on June 20th, 2005 8:41 pm

I think Linda touched on a point concerning a “ring of thugs” that I want to see uncovered. Aruba is very close to The Panama Canal; so is Venezuela, Columbia, and its not so far from Suriname, which is(was) also a Dutch colony and a port with direct shipping lanes to Europe and Africa. Due to the barrage of bullshit and misdirection from the “mainstream media” that normally is reserved for politics and war, it is clear to me that there is some covering up being done at the source. Since she just vanished without a trace, I am thinking a ring of human-traffickers. I think the Kalpoes know who has her; but they don’t know where she is. They naturally won’t/can’t spill the beans because that would mean certain death. Joran knows he is in trouble and might could possibly spill the beans so he chose to attempt suicide instead of facing the executioner.
Anyway, the possibility of Natalie now being anywhere in the world right now as a slave is as real as any theory concerning her disappearance that I have yet to hear.

    29. MC on June 20th, 2005 8:43 pm

Cool, thanks. I just can’t take much more grief. I am eat up with this. Everyday, I monitor the sites and here I am tonight.

I will say that maybe you misunderstood me. I meant that the youths of today will follow the paths that are sometimes the easiest; many of those “paved” by adults. Childeren learn there behavior. I am saying that we are all accountable for what we allow, overlook and otherwise tolerate.
      And teach.

    30. Rabaul on June 20th, 2005 8:51 pm

It is such a damn shame that there’s so much evil in the world. What hurts me and makes me feel so sad is that this girl came to Aruba with her friends for some fun and r&r. Off to college, on top of her game, sun at high noon, and then something like this happens……….. bottom line: even if it’s none of your business, if you see a situation involving other people that doesn’t look right in a social setting, become involved. You might make an ass out of yourself 90% of the time because nothing’s going on but you might prevent a tragedy from happening. Who knows….

      1. PVDS is a MOOSE. One angle is that he could’ve eaten NH =)
      2. This gets weirder and weirder — JVDS et al. must know that no one will find NH, so if they just shut up and wait it out, they’ll walk.
      3. Really funny — did you see SGC with his T-shirt over his head walk head first into the door?
This is the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. I hope they missed NH.

    32. Orangecrush on June 20th, 2005 8:53 pm

I think the same thing. I believe they are dead men if they spill the beans. And, I would bet the the brothers dad is more involved than the judge-in-waiting. Joran realises he just ruined his entire family and wants to talk to protect his dad, but if he does he is a deadman walking at that point.
These kids got in way over their heads. Orange

I have done exactly what you are saying and yes, made a fool of myself. I even had this screaming girl’s drunk boyfriend kick my car when I stopped to see if she was ok. But I will act if I see something amiss. Only, this scenario doesn’t seem to qualify. It is honesty blended with evil intent. It is familiarity blended with a dark unknown.
I pray for everyone involved in this tragic event.

    37. T K on June 20th, 2005 9:32 pm

I really think that some of you people are very harsh and narrow minded. This is a 17 year old boy whose life has been turned totally upside down. He is being called a murderer, and all sorts of other things. His whole family is being attacked just because of a bunch of speculation that has not been proven as fact. The only thing that we know for sure he did was be one of the last people to see Natalee. Unless I missed something even in the USA you are innocent until proven guilty. No one is even given this boy a chance. You are all taking his life away from him just to in your mind find someone guilty of making Natalee dissappear. How would you all feel if that were your 17 year old son in that jail? How would you feel if your family was being thrown to the wolves daily? Maybe that too would push you over the edge. Even if this suicide attempt is not confirmed, I can see why it might be. I just don’t understand how you people think that all of this hostility and name calling will help Natalees family find her faster. What will all of you think if this boy is proven innocent? Will any of you feel remorse for what he, his friends, and family have been drug through? What makes you any better than the people who are keeping Natalee’s family from getting answers? Even if he is guilty it doesn’t make us better people for talking all this crap about people we have no proof have done anything in this case. Just my opinion here. I am so tired of all of the name pointing. It is useless and does noone any good. It actually makes me really sad to think that people have nothing better to say on these sites then stuff like this. My thought any prayers are with all of the people affected by this case, that includes the people being questioned and their families. No matter who we are or how we are raised, we all can end up with bad people in our famalies. Think about that before you attack others.

    38. MC on June 20th, 2005 9:45 pm

I understand. But there is more here than just “the last person to see Natalee”. There is extreme incrimination all over the web. Joran’s website was very dark. The news has said he changed his story from implecating black security guards to dropping Natallee off at a different location. His history of drinking and gambling and hanging in clubs with women is on the web. He sold himself as a wannabe “gangsta”.
Now, that is what people seem to believe. It is all spectulation, but some of it is not without information. I am not talking bad about anyone. I feel to badly for that. I just understand.

    39. Jan on June 20th, 2005 9:45 pm

TK–very well said – I cannot believe how everyone seems to think they know for sure that Joran is guilty – so far the only thing we know he is guilty of is lying initially – he is 17 – how many teens lie – about totally minor things – they truly might have felt she would turn up – or maybe they lied because of sex, or because they are stupid teens? This does not mean they theyare guilty of murder. We do have innocent until proven guilty in the U. S., but many people totally jump to the conclusion that anyone that might not be 100 % remorseful, or act the way they feel they should act, has to be 100% guilty – I think it is awful that Joran cannot see his father, I think it is awful that he is in jail at all – in the U. S. with so little evidence he would not even be in jail – and yet the people in America want to hang him and convict him of murder – there is no body – plus the conditions that a 17 year old might be dealing with at this point are horrendous. I do not think we should convict this kid until we know all the details – and we might not know them for awhile.

    40. Kristin on June 20th, 2005 10:05 pm

I think it’s awful that no one will tell the police what really happened to Natalee, and I think it’s awful that the Holloway’s still have NO IDEA as to where their daughter is, and I think it’s awful that the Aruban police are being so rude and mean to us Americans simply because we demand to know what’s going on here. Aruba’s laws are as said over and over again: GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT.

    41. Superman Lover on June 20th, 2005 10:10 pm

Arubans mean to America??? America’s being mean to Aruba by trying to interfere in an ongoing investiagtion with their McDonalds fast food “I want it now” attitude! If no one talks during an investigation, it will take time, especially without a body. Use your head instead of emotions.

    42. T K on June 20th, 2005 10:12 pm

I have read tons of those things you mention on the web. I saw his website before it was taken down, and I read what the news states he lied about. The thing is this… how many of these “news reports” have already been proven to be lies? We hear one thing today and then tomorrow it is retracted or said to be a false statement. It is all being sensationalized. There is NO proof that any of the “statements” any of these boys have made are fact. How many 17 year olds try to act tough? How many want to act like “gangsters”, just for attention. That does not make them monsters or bad kids. It is totally normal for a 17 year old boy to act that way. It just means he is a normal teenager who loves attention from anyone, especially teenage girls. It still does not make him a bad person. Even if he has changed his story, or lied about some things it doesn’t mean he is guilty of making her disappear. Hell if I was a 17 year old boy who was the last person seen with a missing girl, i would be terefied! Of course they would be scared and nervous. Especially now after seeing how everyone is so quick to judge and attack. It is just a sad case all over no matter what family you are (natalees or the accused). If you are in the middle of this thing you are all going to be hurt. Mainly because of people who just don’t think before they speak.

    43. Justin T on June 20th, 2005 10:15 pm

      TK & JAN,

These scum are exactly where they should be. The only one missing is there dad. He should be there too. If he was only the last one to be with her he would be able to justify his story instead they tried to blame it on someone else. They are responsible for what happened to Natalee on every level

    44. W. Brown on June 20th, 2005 10:20 pm

Why would the young Judge (JVS) try to kill himself if he felt so secure in his committing the “perfect crime”? The question is?? was it a legitimate attempt or a ploy- possibly to me moved to another part of prison as previously posted, or possibly to buy time, or even more clever, to possibly establish the emergence of an insanity plea? What did daddy say to him?

    45. T K on June 20th, 2005 10:26 pm

Yes and you I assume are god, and have seen all of their crimes from above. you are now the one who will lay blame on them and determine what punishment they shall receive? I guess you are their judge and jury? You are one of the ones who speak without thinking. You are one of the ones that no matter what the outcome of this case ends up being you will not think twice about all the garbage you have spoken on these sites. You will just go on about your life and feel no remorse or regret. If any of these boys are proven innocent how will you feel then? If your 17 year old son was sitting in some prison beings attacked like an animal with no way to defend himself, how would you feel then? If after this is over and he was proven innocent and sent back to the life he may have once had, how yould you feel then. How would you feel if he was totally destroyed and thought about taking his own life. Even though he had done nothing???? How would you feel then? Besides who are you to say they have not justified their story the best they can? How do you know they all won’t be let go just like the first two men that were arrested? No One on this board knows anything that will prove beyond a doubt these boys are guilty of anything to do with the dispearance of Natalee. If you or anyone else does have that proof then let it out and end all of this! Prove everyone wrong. Prove you are god and jury over these people. Prove that their lives deserve being destroyed. If you can’t do that then stope your foolish comments. If you can do that then I will stop my comments as well.

    46. MC on June 20th, 2005 10:28 pm

There is too much real, previous information. ALL teenagers don’t want to be tough. I have a teenage son. He is liked by many people and none of his friends act like tough guys either..
I have seen other teenager’s sites and they do not talk or act out this way. Does anyone have a copy of Joran’s site? Please verify that he mentioned misogynist on it somewhere. I don’t want to repeat this if it isn’t so.

    47. Peter on June 20th, 2005 10:28 pm

Perhaps this is a stress tactic to break the biggest pussy of this happy little trio. Possibly there were catcalls shouted at the “pretty boy” from the lifers and it’s dawning on him that he’s looking forward to a similar fate as his victim. Truly deserved.

    48. Caribbean Lady on June 20th, 2005 10:30 pm

He might be 17 but something happened to that girl a mothr is missing a daughter and he knows or has some idea what happened to her, so rather than changing his story like underwear he should face the pain of what he did or what he is hiding. What is he doing wasting time thinking no body no case he will be freed eventually. In a mean time a family is scraping every corner for closure on this matter. Maybe what he needs a few hard slaps to jog his memory this is getting to be the pit, a dam third world country that is playing politics with this issue, an incompetent Arubian police force, and an entire island with zipped lips because they feel it would be bad for business while a young lady in her prime of life who should be going off to college is missing and no one can say what has happened to her.

    49. Justin T on June 20th, 2005 10:32 pm

No I am not stupid enough to just sit around when the facts are hitting you right in the face and say oh gee I guess I will go back and think about this for awhile.

      The are scum

    50. Liz on June 20th, 2005 10:33 pm

TK – Joran is definitely guilty. He was the last person with Natalee, and not only didn’t he help to find her, he made finding her even harder by lying about where she was. At the very least he’s an accessory in her disappearance, but my guess is he’s guilty of much more than that.

    51. T K on June 20th, 2005 10:36 pm

I never said all teens. In fact I made that a question. I said “how many teenagers try to act tough?”. Apparently these guys were liked by many too. If you had seen their sites they were covered with friends pictures and stuff. I do not remember seeing that on his site BTW. I just feel that everone deserves a chance to defend themselves before being thrown to the wolves. No matter what their actions may have been as far as drinking or going out with girls in the past. It does not automatically make them bad people. No matter what these are still teenagers in jail, not being allowed access to their parents. Not knowing what to do to defend themselves. It is just said that so many people are trying to act like god with their words on these boards.

    52. Justin T on June 20th, 2005 10:41 pm

They have some of the best attorneys money can buy. They hardly helpless. Joran is 17 been drinking and gambling for how long? The friends you refer to on his web site mean nothing. Hafl the time they barely know these people on the websites. They add them as buddies because of one chat. He has seen his mother just not the father. Why because of who he is and guess what he just may be implcated before it is all over.

    53. Superman Lover on June 20th, 2005 10:43 pm

TK right on!!! Most people are unobjective knee-jerk emotional thinkers. They can’t think objectively. You can read by some of these posts who struggles with unresolved power issues:

      1. they attack and slime Joran based on heresay and conjecture
      2. they’re quick to judge because someone doesn’t “look” right.
      3. The U.S. would have solved this a long time ago…Aruba sucks attitude
      4. There’s a cover up taking place ….I can just tell..type attitude

These people make judgements based on gut “feelings”. It’s also an indication of a lack of education. Most likely trailer trash, mountain trash, flea-market patrons, and owners of Trans Ams and Camaros or Mustangs

    54. T K on June 20th, 2005 10:43 pm

and all of our guesses and opinions are worthy of these boys lives???? Like I said before NO ONE on this site knows anything for sure that proves any of these people are guilty of Natalee’s disappearance. I for one don’t want to be part of the blame for taking away anyone’s life. If they are innocent there will be many to blame for taking away their lives. Will they be any better than whomever is responsible for Natalee’s disappearance? No matter if he turns out to be guilty or not, I don’t want that on my conscience.

    55. T K on June 20th, 2005 10:47 pm

My first car at age 16 was a Camaro, and I grew up in a trailer. lol So I hope that I shouldn’t take your latter comments seriously either. They did make me smile though. Thanks! :) You did understand my meaning though, and I thank you for that also.

    56. Caribbean Lady on June 20th, 2005 10:48 pm

Tk am sorry I live on an island in the Caribbean also and I can tell you my 17 yr old do not hang out in clubs playing poker and drinking, and the legal age for drinking on my island is 16. Kids are not allowed in card dens never heard of it on any of these caribbean islands so he had to have some kind of pull to do this and get away with it or the laws in Aruba are very slack. I dont by the teenage talk so we must now feel sorry for him, drinking, playing cards for money, and running tourist women that come to visit your island is not a normal teenage past time, so get off your soap box and speak the truth he was acting like a thug, and probably getting away with it because he is white if he was a black boy doing this in Aruba bet he would not of been allowed to.

    57. Justin T on June 20th, 2005 10:49 pm

In the end it will the boys themselves that will take there life away. It is the decisions they made on that night. Not anyone else ! As far as not knowing anything. Well some people need to be hit over the head to see the obvious. No offense but your being blind!

    58. tideroller on June 20th, 2005 10:50 pm

Jan – I can’t believe you’re online again bleeding heart for the “17 -year-old who can’t see his father.” Some people just can’t or won’t listen to reason. This has been explained before. The father is most likely implicated up to the hilt in this. It appears he may even have coached his son on the alibi. (He lied to the Twitty’s and told them he wasn’t home and sent them off to look for him at the Casino.) This was an obvious ploy to buy time to hatch up an alibi. This all makes the father an acessory to the fact. It is incidental that he is the boy’s father, here. You always separate cohorts in crime. That’s the only way you can get them to crack. And beside this, from all evidence on the net and from local testimony, he’a a father who was one of the worst examples that a son could have. It’s the father’s example that probably got the young man into this mess in the first place. I’m more concerned with Natalee’s mother getting to see her 18-year-old daughter again than I am with the now-18-year-old Joran getting to see his dead-beat dad.

    59. T K on June 20th, 2005 10:52 pm

yeah yeah and now we always go back to a black and white thing. lol That is so typical. Drinking and playing poker and screwing at age 17 does not make an automatic monster and thug. BTW it doesn’t matter where you live, kids will be kids. They do things for attention. Different ways of getting attention. Not all are bad and not all are good. Its all just a matter of opinion.

    60. MC on June 20th, 2005 10:54 pm

    63. observer on June 20th, 2005 11:45 pm

To all those defending the life of Juron, I agree that he should not be condemned until he is proven guilty in a court of law. But you cannot argue w/ credibility that he is free from all wrongdoing here or that he does not know what happened to NH. Think about it, if you’re faced w/ such prosecution, humiliation and danger in prison, you would scream to proclaim your innocence, if you are in fact innocent.

    64. SteveDinMD on June 20th, 2005 11:53 pm

      To TK:

You and the other appologists in the world need to face this fact: the likelihood of Joran and the Kalpoes being innocent is practically zero.

      Consider these facts:

      1) It has been confirmed that Natalee Holloway entered a vehicle with the three suspects approximately 5 hours before her flight was scheduled to depart Aruba.

      2) Natalee Holloway hasn’t been seen since.

      3) The suspects all lied to police about their whereabouts and actions after leaving the bar with Natalee.

      4) More than three weeks later, the suspects have yet to provide a credible accounting of what transpired the night of Natalee’s disappearance.

Also consider this additional, circumstantial information:

      1) The circumstances surrounding Natalee’s disappearnce make it extremely unlikely that she willfully disappeared.

      2) Natalee’s continuing, protracted absence makes it increasingly unlikely that she remains alive. She is almost certainly dead.

      3) The suspect Joran has a reputation for behavioral problems and vice.

It is a virtual certainty that Joran and the Kalpoes were involved in Natalee’s disappearance, even if the precise details are as yet unknown. A rational considerationi of the above by a minimally trained investigator yields as much. Continuing to offer improbable defenses for the benefit of these three only reflects badly on their defenders. As for me, I couldn’t care less if they are “frightened” or “hurting.” Let them hurt. Let them confess. If I, as a youth, had been arrested under similar circumstances, I have no doubt but that I would have been disowned by my family. They would have publiclly denounced me, and called on me to confess. The difference between Joran’s upbringing and mine is that I was raised by my grandparents, people of unwaivering moral conviction and an uncompromising belief in justice. “Judge” Van Der Sloot, so it seems, is made of lesser stuff.

    65. observer on June 21st, 2005 12:07 am

SteveMd – The points in your last paragraph are good. These kids, even if they did not directly physically kill NH, are in some way responsible for her situation, and if they don’t have the guts to lead the police to her, deserve all the punishment possible.

I’ve been asking for the last few days and have not goten a good answer. is organized crime in Aruba so prevalent that the locals are afraid to speak up about what they think happened and who did it. In a small town like Aruba, the locals know the facts (contrary to what another local on here said earlier) but are scared and want to protect their own. Would a local pls confirm or deny this and provide supporting rationale?

How would you feel after your mother visits you in jail, stares at you with her own knowing eyes, and asks: “How could you?”

      You’d wanna kill yourself too.

    67. SteveDinMD on June 21st, 2005 12:14 am

Fox news, O’Reilly as I recall, had a retired DEA agent on for an interview. Though deferential to Aruban authorities, he insisted that Aruba is a major drug transhipment point (especially cocaine & heroin) on the way to North America and Europe. The government and business groups, he went on to explain, prefer not to acknowledge this, though it is well known to them.

    68. geechee on June 21st, 2005 12:22 am

You say consider these facts. 1 and 2 may be facts the rest of what you write is all conjecture.

    69. SteveDinMD on June 21st, 2005 12:27 am

I was wondering if someone knowledgable about the Government of Aruba can shed some light on this. Last night on Fox News a segment was broadcast focusing on Paulus Van Der Sloot. Though certain facts emerged, his precise status in Aruba is difficult to understand. First, he is not a judge. Second, he is not a practicing attorney in Aruba, though he received a Master of Laws degree from a university in the Netherlands. He is, nevertheless, some sort of government official, his title being “Principle Private Secretary to the Procurator of Aruba.” Does anyone know what this means? Is the Procurator of Aruba some sort of Dutch royal office, perhaps like a Governor General in the British Commonwealth? “Principle Private Secretary” to me reads like something akin to Chief of Staff. Does anyone have any specific information about this.

    70. Mental Illness on June 21st, 2005 12:29 am

Don’t you think that Joran could have scammed the entire “suicide attempt” for his attorney to later prove that he is “insane?” I know a few people who committed suicide and they finished the job. Usually, ones that “attempt” are simply “crying for help” but in Joran’s case a way to prove “insanity.”

    71. SteveDinMD on June 21st, 2005 12:30 am

      To geechee:

3 and 4 are facts as well. 3 was specifically confirmed by a government spokesman, and if 4 weren’t true, Joran and the Kalpoes would not yet be held over in custody.

    72. Dianthus on June 21st, 2005 1:37 am

I was not able to see Joran’s disgusting website…What was on his website? Is there a link to information that was contained in it? (I don’t want someone here to have to repeat previously reported info. if they don’t have to and I will gladly search for a link).

MentalIll: I think you could be right about him possibly trying to prove insanity…someone as narcissistic as him would probably never actually follow through with suicide? It’s just an act?

    73. Ringo on June 21st, 2005 3:59 am

      TK/ Jan/superman hugger…

I guess we have a “general” disagreement on whether or not a human life (Natalee) is a Mc Donalds hamburger? I think that “facts” unlike your personal opinions will bare out that time is of the essence in such cases. Hear say and conjecture that JVS is in jail for what, as a pawn in the aruban government’s play to find the “real” kidnappers who were last seen drving in the back of a “white van” on I405 saying “the glove doesn’t fit I’m innocent”! I’m also curious as to what authority your qoting by saying “Most people are unobjective knee-jerk emotional thinkers” can you link us to that “fact”. By the way the word unobjective is incorrect usage.. it’s “subjective”.
You just murdered Aristotelian logic and the english language in one blow.
Seems to me knees aren’t the only thing being “jerked” here ………

    74. AnnapolisArubaFan on June 21st, 2005 7:56 am

For the 50th time, I will ask: what is up with a reward? If it’s set high enough and no worthy leads emerge, then we know that the only parties involved are the ones already detained….It’s human nature: big rewards lead to tips. So again: why isn’t the flush Aruban gov’t and tourist industry ponying up?

Justin T–what say you on this?

And Jan, who says “June 20th, 2005 at 9:45 pm
TK—very well said – I cannot believe how everyone seems to think they know for sure that Joran is guilty – so far the only thing we know he is guilty of is lying initially – he is 17 – how many teens lie – about totally minor things – they truly might have felt she would turn up – or maybe they lied because of sex, or because they are stupid teens?….”

Jan, c’mon: if any rational innocent-of-murder 17 year-old, like you suggest Joran is, were in jail wrongfully accused of his country’s crime of the millenium, he would give up every detail about everyone while loudly explaining every movement of his and protesting his innocence. This guy is doing nothing of the sort. The much more likely scenario is that he used his last 10 days of freedom to construct (maybe even with dad’s help) a plausible tale (or 2 or 3) of denial.

i don’t know joran or the brothers but has anyone thought they may each tell what they know and because they really don’t know what happened to her? maybe they do and are covering for one another, but at this point and time doesn’t seem real that they would be ready to give up their life in jail if they did know something. people have convicted them already just as they have aruba, the kids on the trip, the chaperones. maybe they are only being held because of the information they do know and the ones to last see her and the police are trying to hold them since they have found no one else. if they were guilty, wouldn’t they have already pressed charges? scum that would not tell where a body was etc. have been that way all their life and has joran been in trouble a lot or not? no one has really told much about the history of these boys except their family has money. where are the brothers’ family? i don’t know what happened but i do know that with the impatience everyone is having, i am concerned if these boys are guilty, they will go scott free because everyone wants to know now. i understand and also want to know but maybe no one really knows what happened to natalee. has anyone heard anything else about the man that was found in the graveyard in aruba or the missing man? with so many people in aruba partying wouldn’t it be hard to kill someone and dispose of the body without being seen especially if this was your first time? i still think all of this is more involved than we all know and maybe these boys are in jail for their protection also. i hope these boys burn if they are guilty but if not, i hope the truth comes out soon.

    81. Elaine on June 21st, 2005 12:38 pm

Sniff, Sniff. Joran is being watched for suicide. His mommy and daddy can’t get him out of jail fast enough. Well, tough. What the American government should do is to call on international authorities to help. They need to send the DEA there to start investigating the drug trafficking, get interpole to find out what if any connections Steve and Deepak and probably Joran have to the outside drug world and make this a central focus with the world watching until something gives.
A group of three boys and one man should not be able to hold a whole polis force at bay, while they wait for the evidence to dissapate. I only wish I were able to go to Aruba and help to find Natalee. I believe I could. I know she is there.

    82. niika on June 21st, 2005 2:18 pm

Yeah send in the Marines.OK Elaine. The sad truth is she is probably shark food by now.I hope I am wrong , but the reality when someone is missing for 22 days on such a small island leaves little hope.So go knock yourself out trying to find her.The Dutch method may be different but dont forget who let OJ,Blake and Michael Jackson off even though they were obviously guilty.

    83. JJ on June 21st, 2005 2:22 pm

There have been rewards posted in Aruba Today newspaper of $50,000 several times…Unknown if that’s changed since last week.

    84. Rachael on June 21st, 2005 3:28 pm

How do we know this is true and not another rumor?

    85. HNR on June 21st, 2005 3:51 pm

Come on people! Joran GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT. Joran may not have premeditated her murder but he definetly knows her whereabouts and what happened to her. He is simply trying to get attention with his suicide attempt and take the focus off his crime. Aruba will probably just smack his hands and tell him everything will be okay. Daddy will get him out of this one too. In Indiana it is illegal to attempt suicide… it’s considered attempted murder. If he truly regrets what he has done or witnessed he needs to come clean, regardless of the consequences. Whoever called him a BOY was exactly right… because it takes a man to admit when the screw up.

    86. Lisian on June 21st, 2005 4:28 pm

In case Joran is guilty it will take time for him to admit that. It may be clear to him what he has done to his family, particularly his father as a judge, and the whole community of Aruba. It’s not a secret that this island depends on tourism. And such a crime won’t give a good imprension at all of the beautiful island of Aruba.

I’m not saying he is guilty, this is just my statement to make clear that he will be better of commiting a suicide.

    87. Lidia on June 21st, 2005 4:37 pm

Has anyone been able to confirm if Joran did, in fact, try to commit suicide? I haven’t seen any reports on that, just comments on different websites from people adding their input. I think that Joran is probably feeling more pressure (i hope so). If he didn’t do anything bad, then he should just tell the police what he knows. The problem is that his story and the story of the other two doesn’t match. This makes it difficult to have any sympathy for him or the others. I do think we need to see what facts come out of this, however, I know that if I were innocent, I would be more than willing to talk. People make mistakes; people make stupid choices about drugs and/or alcohol. If that’s the extent of what happened to Natalee while he was with her, why not just say so?

    88. mike 1 on June 21st, 2005 4:40 pm

Lisian – He obviously will admit nothing. Like Natalee’s mother said he is arrogant. Why should he confess? Who’s to say that she didn’t take a midnight swim and drown?? Only if they find her body soon, only if toxicology tests can still detect date rape drugs, only then will Joran onfess to an “accidential” death. plead manslaughter – at the worse case

    89. Lidia on June 21st, 2005 4:49 pm

What if they never find a body? Will they have to release the four now in custody?

    90. mike 1 on June 21st, 2005 4:49 pm

They don’t say so becasue they slipped her a roofie, took her to the lighthouse and gang banged her. She might have previously (unknown to them) injested a recreational drug (ex) and subsequently overdosed. It seems to be island sport to feed the teenage tourist girls alcohol and take advantage. This show goes on night after night. All the emloyees at Carlos N Charlies watch the show. Joran and his buds mistake was that they went pharmaceutical. But hey, at least they all got laid before she overdosed. What a friendly island.

    91. mike 1 on June 21st, 2005 4:50 pm

They might have to release them this weekend

    92. Lidia on June 21st, 2005 4:58 pm

It’s unfortunate that on such a small island they can’t find this one person or find out what happened to her.

    93. Nancy on June 21st, 2005 5:24 pm

I’m just really upset and hate all the pain that her family is going through. Not to mention what Natalee may have endured if she is in fact dead. I myself believe that the three young boys know what happened and just are using the loopholes of the Aruban system to get away with it. I mean, no body…… charge for a crime. They will walk away and leave her family with so many unanswered questions. I REALLY hope it doesn’t come down to that, but I think that the Aruban government has totally botched up the investigation and that they don’t know how to interrogate suspects to get what they want. I’ve told my husband all along that they needed to send some hot shot NY detectives down there to get the answers we need. At this point……..I think the family just needs to KNOW. Even if Natalee is dead……..they need to KNOW. And I have a question. Did anyone else hear on the TV last night about them saying Joran’s father is not even an attorney? First they called him a judge on the island……..then a judge in training and last night I could SWEAR I heard them say that he’s not that either. That he isn’t even an attorney and if that’s true……..then why are they keeping him from his son? Sounds like the father might be involved and if so…….I’d suspect that they sold her as well as what some of you other people are thinking.

      Hey guys…
There is another family who lost a daughter in
ARUBA a year ago, and the last that is known of
her is that she was seen by a marine in some prostitution
house, obviously kept there by forceful means, and she
asked the marine for help and told who she was.
Too bad that the marine disregarded the situation since
he was not aware it was some young woman missing.
So Natalee could have possibly been set up to be sold
      for prostitution purposes.

    98. Linda on June 21st, 2005 11:20 pm

The other missing American girl is Amy Bradley. She was abducted about 7 years ago from a cruise ship docking at Curacao (after having left Aruba). Her mother actually said she believes her daughter is being held in servitude. There were 2 sightings of her, one in 1998 and the other in 1999, I believe. Besides the brothel sighting, the other guy saw her face-to-face on a beach–saw her tattoos and piercings and all, but he didn’t know who she was at the time. Supposedly, when she tried to speak to him, her two male escorts prevented that from happening….There’s an article on that mentions a lot of this info. It’s titled “Sex-Trafficking Threatens Women on Vacation” or something to that effect. It’s in the World/National news section.

DADDY, first start by knowing some facts about the country you assult. Aruba is part of the Netherlands, you know the country wich provides all your syntetic drugs. The Netherlands doesnt have a president but a Queen.Netherlands were the first who set a step New York soil. Thats why there is a neighbourhood in NYC called Quens, as well as Harlem is named after Haarlem, and it is written on the city Hall New Amsterdam. Wallstreet is even named after our country, the bull, just around the corner there is given by the dutch and there are much more links between The Netherlands and the USA as there are vice versa. But the people that posted this information don’t represent Aruba or the Netherlands I hope. Every country has its problems, but I promise you this the USA is great and I love my country. What if we had not taken down HITLER, where would you people be today, where would I be as well. Ponder on that seriously. Lets be respectful to each other, I am willing. - It’s fun and easy to call Americans hypocrites, because there are tons of examples to prove your point, and they get all pissed off and start calling you names.

      - A lot of Americans don’t know the difference between there, their and they’re

      – Americans are pussies. They suspected Sadam Hoessein had WMD, so they went to war.

Bush says, there are WMD in Iraq but we just cant find them, He also says all men are equal, but gays are less then rocks.
Another great fact about the usa, they never went to war with a country wich have McDonald restaurants at that moment.
Every president in the last 65 years invated a country or was president during a war. Is that a White House rule? Cant you be a president of the US without war?
Yes Daddy, you helped us 60 years ago. Churchill grabbed a sigar and a whiskey after the attack on Pearl Harbour and said: Gentemen we just won the war. But that has nothing to do with the way the world thinks about the US at this moment. Think about Guantanamo, iraq, afghanistan, the war against terrorism, wich is more a war agains muslims. The always need of the majority of americans to call themselves superior over others.

    154. vander F on June 22nd, 2005 12:38 pm

It seems to me that it’s a typical FOX divertion scheme to get peoples attention off the real problems in the US.
And Daddy US, it was the Russians who broke the backbone of Hitlers army.
Churchill knew that and wanted to get to Berlin and on to stop the red army.
The americans refused to go with this plan.
So Berlin and a large part of Europe was taken by the sovjets.
Thank you very much for the assistance 60 years ago but don’t walk around with the idea that it was the US alone that crushed Hitler.
      That’s plain silly.

And believe me, the American government along with the army (pretty much the same thing) has done the most horrific things to people last century.
And they keep doing it (Abu Graib, and Guantanomo Bay, and so on and on and on).
And all those stupid flagwavers down there, supporting the troops. They shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
And , oh man, are you guys being lied to. 9/11, President bush senior and his pals had it all planned out. You have any idea how much money they made since 9/11, with Haliburton and the Carlyle group?
Oh and how is it possible that the explosion of one of the airplanes made the steelpillars of the WTC fucking melt… And yet the investigators found , haaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha, two passports belonging to Saudi Arabian terrorists.

      @Daddy US
The US was lucky to be across two oceans, otherwise you people would be marching with your right arm up or bowing down to every rising sun flag.
The US Army had only TWO armoured cars in 1939/1940 the rest of the cavalery rode on HORSEBACK.
Or remeber Pearl Harbour, the Japs didn’t come back for the kill. Lucky again.
So don’t say we the US came to save us from Hitler or the Japs, you guys were plain lucky.
Right now Hitler’s clone is residing in the white house under an assumed name.
Fuck he and the rest of his puppet regime say “Holland is one of our closest allies”, but in the meantime they get a bill through congress that will give him the authority to invade this so-called closest ally.(Attack of the Clones maybe?)
Thanks to HITLER we still have nice coastal defenses, which are still usable. Invade in the summer and your troops will bog down on the beaches because of all 6 feet deep holes that are being dug there by the GERMANS.
Perhaps they should dug these holes in WWII, shit ALL the US troops would have slaughtered on the beaches. Shit lucky again.
Besides that, it is a fact that WE came to your rescue during the war of independence.
We supplied you with weapons even though the British would impose sactions on countries helping you in your quest. Without our help you still would be a colony.
So I would say the US paid it debt to us. Or is there still some interest left, I think there is, it took the US too long to pay back.

Or does that guy, who so nicely could avoid to take part in your Vietnam war himself , get away with the killing of your own people in Iraq ? Looking for some non-existing weapons and terrorists in Iraq ? He should have the guts to do the same in Saudi Arabia but I guess this does not fit in his “business strategy” with the Carlyle Group.

I have spent many weeks vacationing in Aruba – at the Marriott right next to where Natalee was staying. It is a beautiful island and I have always found the native people there extremely delightful and helpful in every way. It’s true that there are not all of the conveniences you have in the US, but isn’t that why you plan vacations to exotic places like that? So you are experiencing something different than what you normally have at home? I spent 3 weeks there last November. Even the police are friendly and helpful. The terrain there is rough, to say the least. My husband and I took an 8 hour jeep tour and it just about did us in. We are talking about a volcanic or coral island where in that 8 hours of jeeping, we had 5 flat tires in our caravan. The country is rugged and course. If those boys did something to her, and left her stranded somewhere, it would be horrible. The cacti there are like the forests of Washington, you can’t walk through, between, under – only around – and the thickets of them are tremendous. The rattlesnakes there are sand colored and innocuous – you would never see them, they blend in so well. Then, considering the other wildlife on the island are carnivorous they could easily consume any remains. I so pray that this is not the case. I also believe there is the possibility of the “slavery” route. She is so beautiful and blonde, that she would be coveted in the countries where this is considered exotic. The fact that Aruba is so close to Venezuela, a country seemingly always at war and heavily involved in drug trafficking, and factoring in the pirate area in which the island is located, the search for her must be extended to explore these possibilities.

Aruba is not a third world country, nor one which advocates injustice. It is a friendly island paradise where something went horribly wrong. Aruba has 1 or 2 murders per year. I think, if you are comparing safety in island paradises, you should look to our own Hawaii and see what the murder/crime rate is there. People in Aruba don’t even lock their doors, the crime rate is so low. I never once felt threatened, or anything but peaceful when I have vacationed there. We are too quick to judge, and, if those boys did do something to her, they will be found out and justice will prevail, one way or the other. You don’t leave this life without paying for what you have done here. One thing I have to say in support of the Aruban government is that at least they are able to hold their suspects for more than a few hours without them getting out and disappearing. I pray for this family and the safety of their daughter.

    191. very sad on June 25th, 2005 4:16 am

Because i went to mbhs (same high school as natalee) years ago, i have some thoughts. 1st, i don’t think the reporters have looked at all the possibilities of what could have happened to natalee.

although mtn. brook is very nice, life in high school can be full of overwhelming pressure. it is also a strict / religious / mostly right wing town. when i was there, 2 kids from my class killed themselves.

sometimes i wonder if this very, very sad situation is the result of a desperate confused girl who didn’t know what to do.
maybe she was clinically depressed. people may think she had zero reason to kill herself, but nobody does, & a picture perfect life doesn’t always make you happy. she transfered from another school & that may have been hard for her.
or maybe she was pregnant. what is a Christian girl to do who doesn’t want to kill a baby, but is deathly (maybe literally) afraid of ruining her reputation by being a single mother, etc. esp. in mtn. brook. these are just guesses… possibilities- just like rape/murder is a possibility. maybe he raped her, then she killed herself? i also would be curious to see & compare the numbers of teen female suicides in america to murder/manslaughter… just a thought.

….or maybe this is a part of a government conspiracy to frame that boy’s family. his father is a politician & the dutch are “liberal”. maybe his dad knew something he shouldn’t have known…

But seriously, I think Natalee’s state of mind is important to research- because most deaths are accidental (even suicide) & sometimes the truth isn’t what it seems.

    192. Martijn on June 27th, 2005 6:01 pm

??????verysad???????how could Natalee hide her body so well after killing herself??
????????????????????which government would conspire to frame these Dutch guys:US or the Dutch themselves??
also, if she was on vacation in paradise, why would she want to kill herself???Why would she not leave a note????? Was she so disassociated from everyone that she would not have the common courtesy to leave a note???or a body??Would she want her mother to go through this agonizing torture of not knowing what happened to her as some sort of payback???
      Probably not.
